2241  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to read/find encrypted private key ? on: July 28, 2015, 12:23:15 PM
You should immediately move your coins to a new address.  The only thing protecting you right now is your passcode and chances are that is not as strong as you would hope.  Always be careful posting your private key - even when encrypted - anywhere.

That said, you should be able to ask bitgo how this works and/or you should ask in the service discussion (you can move this):
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=85.0

You can read some about it here:

2242  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I know my wallet address. I know my Wallet password. I dont know my wallet serve on: July 28, 2015, 11:29:11 AM
If you are talking about bitwallet.cc, then the question about your user name and password would best be directed to them. Is that what your receipt mentions?

If you have the public address and the private key, you can use them with other software wallets. And btw, using the public key, you can verify the balance at places like blockr.io or blockchain.info.

Whatever you do, don't share your private key because that will give anyone access to the coins.
2243  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Sequence on: July 24, 2015, 12:03:08 PM
Hi,
I am not sure what you mean by "the sequence" and "line them up," but there is documentation here:

https://bitcoin.org/en/developer-documentation

If you can rephrase the question, perhaps we can give you more information.  ;-)
2244  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-07-21]CCN-BITCOIN PRICE MAKING GRADUAL PROGRESS on: July 21, 2015, 03:49:31 PM
With the next halving about 53 weeks away, that should provide a catalyst as it comes closer and more and more people become actively aware of it and what it means.

I believe an increased fiat price will only help to increase adoption.  Over the next year, the upcoming halving should be an important factor in bitcoin <-> fiat valuations.

96% literacy.
69% internet consumption.

Combine that with high inflation, capital controls and a significant portion of GDP contributed by tourism (i.e. foreign currency). You have got a recipe for success of Bitcoin.  Smiley

For sure. Anyone facing a devaluing currency should diversify. And Bitcoin is one good option. They should be doing it before capital controls are in place, of course, but better late than never.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to speed up: Bitcoin Core sync? on: July 19, 2015, 09:52:43 PM
Why not download the blockchain via torrent? That usually rips along in comparison.

Because since 0.10.0 it hasn't been any faster to use the torrent, and often slower.
2247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How does one sync Bitcoin wallet under 1 hour? on: July 17, 2015, 11:07:55 AM
http://www.bitcoin-en.com/install-bitcoin-qt-faster.html Im sure that may give you some pointers.

How do I know this torrent is safe?

The torrent hasn't been recommended since 0.10.0 since it will probably be slower than a regular sync. FYI.

It sounds like you are talking about some service here since "bitcoin" doesn't have "support".  What service are you talking about?

If you tell us the name of the service, you can get some help directing you to the correct forum.

2250  Bitcoin / Press / 2013-10-01 Alcor.org - Bitcoin and Cryonics, Merkle Roots on: July 15, 2015, 04:11:39 PM
It has an introduction to Cryonics, talks about Ralph Merkle (the "Merkle" in Merkle roots etc and also a board member of Alcor).  Plus why it might be useful for cryonic members.  Unfortunately I couldn't copy and paste any selections since they are using Issuu.com which pretty much sucks.

Anyway, this is an older article, but it is finally available online:

2251  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bootstrap.dat on: July 14, 2015, 12:14:16 PM
Hello.  I'm having a hard time finding the bootstrap.dat torrent.  I could have thought I saw it on the git before - but now I don't locate it.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

Indeed , seems like it got removed from Bitcoin Core page on the Bitcoin.org not sure why though .
with some searching I managed to find this link for you : http://gtf.org/garzik/bitcoin/bootstrap.dat.torrent
Source of link : http://www.bitcoin-en.com/install-bitcoin-qt-faster.html

also here , there is the magnet link : https://bitcoin.org/bin/block-chain/bootstrap.txt

It got removed because it is no longer recommended for current bitcoin core versions.

They don't say what version they are running, of course.
2252  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bootstrap.dat on: July 14, 2015, 11:20:01 AM
Hello.  I'm having a hard time finding the bootstrap.dat torrent.  I could have thought I saw it on the git before - but now I don't locate it.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

If you are running 0.10.2*, you shouldn't need bootstrap.dat.  In all likelihood using it would be slower than not using it.

(*Any of the 0.10.x versions)

Just to be clear, Onion.to isn't Tor.  It is a Tor to web gateway.
2254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction for more then 3days on: July 12, 2015, 11:24:51 PM
Now it looks like blockr.io etc don't see the transaction as unconfirmed either, so you should have local bitcoins redo it - depending on the type as asked above. :-)
2255  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: over 130 confirmations and still pending on: July 12, 2015, 11:21:38 PM

This is what they replied:

Hello,
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/wikileaks-is-now-a-target-in-the-massive-spam-attack-on-bitcoin
article explains the delays with BTC transactions lately.
As long as you've done it correctly the coins will arrive.
Definitely not our fault.
Regards,
Eric

Doesn't look like they even cared to read through your case or even view the transaction on the blockchain. You might have explained it incorrectly because based on their reply it sounds you told them that delay on blockchain which isn't the case.

yeah, send them this link https://blockchain.info/tx/86ca1fa59024707857d9d8157a964606f88ff409a00f3871da55c1fbe495ef8d tell them your TX is confirmed and they should check their logs

 ME:
my transaction went through and has over 200 confirmations so it is not delayed. You can see transaction to my coin.mx address here: https://blockchain.info/tx/86ca1fa59024707857d9d8157a964606f88ff409a00f3871da55c1fbe495ef8d
So it should be on your end. Could you check it ? And manually fix the problem or credit the transfer.

Answer from coin.mx:
Hello,
I will assign this to our programmers as I cannot do anything. Programmers start their shift late tonight/early tomorrow.
Regards.
Eric

Glad they finally took the time to look at the issue on their end
2256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction for more then 3days on: July 12, 2015, 03:48:55 PM
I have received payments on my addresshttps://blockchain.info/address/1CVYdvq8vinus5BojemBUxexD8v2M6Lgka

But now its not showing, please help me what happened with it?

There have been no confirmed payments to that address, ever.

Right now, there is an unconfirmed payment of 0.13753217 BTC to that address.  ( http://btc.blockr.io/address/info/1CVYdvq8vinus5BojemBUxexD8v2M6Lgka )

Edit:  Blockchain.info is rejecting that transaction:

in my coin.mx account wallet.

Contact their support. I'm sure they will help you. This isn't related to Bitcoin but rather coin.mx.

They said that it is still in blockchain and if it hits them  it will immediately be credited to my account.

Ive never heard before that after 130 confirmations bitcoins wouldn't reach the address. I wanna know why

If they said "it is still in blockchain" they don't know what they are talking about as that is a meaningless statement.  Bitcoin works on inputs and outputs, not addresses.  The inputs are either spent or not.  Given it looks like there are more than 200 confirmations so far, this is a problem with coin.mx and the only people who can help are at coin.mx since they are not crediting the transfer to you.
2258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Medium Priority? (transfer taking long to confirm w/ fee included) on: July 07, 2015, 09:57:14 AM
Thanks.

Still has not gone through after 6 hours Sad

Do you have the transaction id?
2259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: where to insert bootstrap.dat on: July 01, 2015, 01:14:29 AM

You are right, there is no point to the bootstrap since 0.10.0
2260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin crashes on: June 29, 2015, 04:45:31 PM
Can you navigate to this location:
IO error: C:\Users\Internet\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\chainstate\713704.ldb: Zugriff verweigert (access denied)

from the command line?

The IO error and access denied messages would seem to indicate that it can not access those directories, so you should try and see if they are accessible.

Also, as long as I am asking, what version?  (probably not relevant, but who knows).

Yes, I'm able to navigate. I use the latest client on W7 64bit with all updates. In the meantime the client closed after over an hour with high cpu load. I always run the client as no root. Maybe it is an general access problem, I had another problem to write a file to an USB-stick, but not reproduceable.

How can it happen, that I'm able to access a directory and a moment later it doesn't work? That's crazy.

Maybe a permission issue?
