2321  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I see strange IP addresses in "my connections" tab on router on: May 17, 2019, 06:09:17 PM
@OP, is this a new miner directly bought from Bitmain or was it bought used (and from whom)?
If bought used then this is a prime example why it must be said to ALWAYS reset/reflash ANY used miner because the the world is full of assholes looking to steal from anyone they can...
2322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A10 series announced on: May 17, 2019, 01:25:29 PM
... I though Canaan was readying 7nm parts but their latest "A10" is still 16nm, hope is if they are brewing something new at 12nm or less like MicroBT is.
The A921 painfully proved to them that the 7nm node process is just not ready for prime time yet. Too expensive with results that are too variable and I expect it to remain so for at least another 6 months. With Microbt nailing it on the 16nm node Canaan made a wise choice taking a step back to 16nm for their A10.
2323  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: May 16, 2019, 03:26:34 PM
And each A8 has an optimal diff far lower than 65k. The single 841's I have running in various locations have a diff of between 7.5k and 8k. What the pool cares about is shares-per-minute and they want to keep the I/O bandwidth low as possible. At Kanopool the target is 18SPM. Sending many more (lower value) SPM than is needed just uses more resources at the pool end while giving the same end result.
2324  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: May 16, 2019, 02:22:24 PM
As an FYI, unless you have a very specific reason for setting diff it is almost always best to let the pool decide what diff is used by your miner(s).

Unless there is a problem it is best to NEVER fiddle with it. If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it. That said, AFAIK you have to go directly through MicroBT support to get updates.
2326  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 252 blocks solved! on: May 14, 2019, 12:52:27 PM
I fired up my Avalon 841 (low power fw, 8 Th/s) here.
Fingers crossed.. I hope that it will hit a Block Smiley
Hi Hagss

I have one 841 still in the box.... can I just plug that in like an Antminer?

Why I am asking .... is that my remote hosted farm 721/741/821/841 are connected to an Avalon provided hub before it connects to the router. I guess its not needed for a single 841 unit...
Thanks
Um, try reading how to setup an Avalon - any Avalon... There are more than enough reviews of them here. That is not a 'hub' it is a RasPi controller for the miners...
2327  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - April 2019 on: May 13, 2019, 05:03:13 PM
That is one distributor, the other is Pangolinminer. I've used Pango many times for purchasing the M10's. Very good company but ja that long of a lead time for the whatsminers sux big time.
2328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is www.turbominebtcminer.com Real or Scam? on: May 13, 2019, 03:31:18 PM
The fact that they say "Bitcoin miner" and "Windows" in the same sentence screams SCAM. BTC CANNOT be mined with a PC. Period.
2329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can you mine with servers (phsyical) on: May 13, 2019, 03:24:51 PM
Read 1st time/small miner guide here Primary point is the quote from -ck.
In short - unless you are mining altcoins, forget it. If you want to mine alts, then this is the wrong area as this is the Bitcoin-only area.
2330  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: RESELLER REVIEW&FEEDBACK (NOORDMINER.EU) on: May 10, 2019, 05:19:03 PM
@OP, Wrong area and have asked the mods to move this. Questions (and answers) regarding reputation and scams belong in one of the child boards at the top of here.
2331  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Ebit E9+ hash rate issue on: May 09, 2019, 05:16:51 PM
I've tried contacting Ebang but I just dont get any reply.

Which historically is the major problem with eBang gear. Many folks in the Forum have reported getting zero support from them and AFAIK there are zero reports of anyone being happy with them. That is why I and others avoid eBang like plague.

Good luck figuring out what is wrong.
2332  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does worth mining with used S9s? on: May 09, 2019, 02:10:44 PM
Seller origin was from Singapore, product was from HK. Its trusted ?

That gives us nothing to work with. Where the seller lives and country of origin means nothing. WHO is the seller or what is the company name you are asking about?
2333  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does worth mining with used S9s? on: May 07, 2019, 05:17:24 PM
What power cable is needed for 48 miners?

One big enough to handle the amount of power you are using. That in turn depends on your power line voltage, if using 208v then the 40kw you mentioned = 192.3amps feeding the circuit breaker panel. That gets split up depending on how much power each individual miners uses. For s9 and such (around 1,250w each) you can use a 15A outlet to power 2 miners.

You need to work with a licensed electrician to get the proper power outlets and circuit breakers wired per your area codes. If you do not do this for a living DO NOT just follow internet opinions about wiring. The risk of electrocution or fire is too great.
2334  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does worth mining with used S9s? on: May 06, 2019, 02:53:29 PM
What about another miner that have good profit if have free electricity?

If you have free electric ANY miner is good. The question then becomes how much free electricity do you have: just a few kw or more? Please do remember that miners are hot and loud. Can you deal with removing the heat from where the miners are? Please ref the 1st time/small miners guide.
2335  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Antminer S9] Here's how to switch between LPM and Enhanced LPM programmatically on: April 30, 2019, 03:37:18 PM
... That being said, I'm surprised that the Awesome Miner developers haven't added this as a feature yet.

Patrike usually only adds features if someone requests it. Ask him about it in the Awesome Miner support thread.

re: the ventilator fan, Intereisting bit in the manual (and yes OT but) "This fan utilizes Smart Flow microchip technology that monitors the static pressure in the system and speeds up or slows down the rpm of the fan depending upon the amount of resistance within the ducts. This feature allows the fan to perform as rated and avoid potential installation issues."

So within reason, the CFM you select is what it delivers. Nice touch but no mention of max duct length...
2337  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 never start on: April 29, 2019, 06:43:15 PM
You need to provide more details:
Is the miner new or used?
Where did you get the miner - direct from Bitmain or a reseller?
What kind of PSU are you using?
Screen shot of the GUI cgminer status page.

If the PSU is a known good one and miner is new then contact Bitmain or the reseller.
If the miner was bought as used - you may have bought a dud. Contact whomever you bought it from.

Saw this on amazon, pretty excited to see a new hobbyist miner with a decent hashrate and efficiency, I honestly would probably just run it on CKs solo pool still.

What fans are on these btw? I figure they can't be too noisy.

Um, perhaps read the 1st post where the miner is described?

Is there any hardware out there designed for this? I am aware of ASICs that compute sha-256 hashes but not sha-512 hashes.
Perhaps I could tweak one to work with sha-512 since they are very similar.
No tweaks are possible with an ASIC-based miner because the SHA256D algo is hard coded into the chips and cannot be changed.

Oh and fyi these days 'typical' ASIC-based BTC miners run well over 13THs and the latest run over 70THs.
2340  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Issues with S9 Miners, please help Im new on: April 26, 2019, 08:10:13 PM
AFAIK even if the miner does not hash from bad controller or hash boards the miner GUI should still show the pool(s) as being alive because they did connect. If the GUI shows the pool as dead check for the spaces at end of addresses.
