2341  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: July 30, 2023, 04:00:08 PM
I was in argument with someone. His view is that people who gamble are those that what they have is not sufficient for them and so they try to make more money from gambling. He said if you have sufficient money to take care of your needs that you won't think of gambling. He made reference to some rich people, who don't gamble because they have sufficient money to even gift to charity but that those rich who still gamble are only addicted to it not just because of the money. Therefore, that the percentage of the rich gambling is very small compared to those in middle class and lower class.

So my question is, is the percentage of the rich gambling lower than the middle and lower class?

First of all, we need money to gamble.

That is the essence of the question. Yes money is used to gamble and like you rightly said we need money to gamble, that means if you don't have money to gamble then you wouldn't, so do you gamble because you want to have money ? Because some people gamble as a reason to have money. Such people gamble as a source of income, they belong to a certain class of people with the mindset of grabbing wealth from gambling. They don't have wealth and they believe to make it through gambling.
2342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ADVICE]Boy Wins $46k from Sports Bet but Can't Tell Strict Religious Parents... on: July 30, 2023, 03:46:43 PM
The thing about a "Lie" is this.... it takes a while, but the truth eventually catch up to you. I think he should just withdraw the money and donate it to his church or to some good cause.

He won't give all the money to the church and I don't know of how many people that will give all to the church likewise. I know people build churches and donate to them in different ways but they are people who are already made and this guy is just being lucky and it might be the only time he will get that lucky. If he wants to give to the church, he can remit 10% of the money to the church that is $4,600. He needs to manage his way through the money despite the way his parents will feel but they will come around later.
2343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ADVICE]Boy Wins $46k from Sports Bet but Can't Tell Strict Religious Parents... on: July 30, 2023, 01:21:04 PM

I disagreed with him because despite having strict parents, they are going to be mad at him for a little while but I don't think they'll tell him to return the money. What do you guys think? Should he tell his parents or secretly invest the money while acting his regular self around the house?

It will all end up in don't gamble next time  Grin And at the end the money will be used either by the boy and the less religious between the mother or father. This kind of scene is going to be either the most religious among the parents will pretend not being involved in the spending of the money, more like forbidding to eat meat but using your teeth to share same meat.

However, on the contrary if the boy was not a direct child of the parents like if they were his foster parents, maybe I would suggest he shouldn't tell them if they would frown at it.
2344  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Indigenous education is as important as Western education. on: July 30, 2023, 12:11:19 PM

Today I look at my children and I see a clear difference between the past and the present. Their generation has been disconnected from their root and connected to a strange culture. I am also guilty of spreading the misconception that indigenous education is not important because I have failed to expose my children to them.

We are not expected to remain the way we are yesterday or 30 years ago. Yes acculturation has taken place and some cultures have melted into others and producing modified version of it. This is the effect of modernity, it brings the good, the bad and the ugly but we need to follow what is right. In Africa in the past, you hardly see ladies dressing almost nude on the streets but today women find pleasure in wearing inner wears they are suppose to feed the husband's eyes with in the house, they expose them all to the public. The men too are not left unblamed, they have portion of their behaviour that have also changed.

The financial system have also witnessed quite a number of changes. As we know, the world financial system is fast moving from a fiat dominated financial system to an optional type with different levels of payment, investment, assets including cryptocurrency.

The aspect of local language that is fast disappearing, to me it is the fault of the government. The government has not made the language a priority rather like you said, foreign language is now an mirror to intelligence, brilliance and standard for achievement, because it is made primary language for the anglophones and francophone countries, this is unfortunate. Some continent however have kept their language and dialect intact like the Asian countries. They use their language as primary language and any other is regarded as secondary.

2345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: July 30, 2023, 07:16:34 AM
I have even seen someone say that after he has done betting his game, he will start having negative thoughts towards the game so that his expectations won't be much so if he actually losses the bet then no hard feelings. You can imagine that, and he always emphasize that thinking negative keeps you on the upper hand so the games would know you expecting much and eventually turn out to favour you.

This is about not having much expectation towards the outcome of the bet and if the outcome is wrong then you won't feel much pain in your heart since you already taken it out from your mind. I think it is another superstitious believe working for different people. I understand it and sometimes we apply this philosophy in our dealings with humans by not expecting much from them so that when they disappoint you, then you won't feel much shocked. This is a lesson carried on to gambling that whatever way our bet turns to, we don't feel the grieve but if eventually it turns to our favour then we take it to be one of the favours that has been done to us. Betting with this kind of psychology will help us not to bother on outcomes but just to move on to the next, like betting and believing it to be game of chance.
2346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: July 30, 2023, 03:28:28 AM

So why this belief or do you think it could be true? Or is it one of those superstitious belief among gamblers?
Do you feel cool sharing your predictions with other people and how has the outcome been looking at all the times you have shared your predictions with others?

Once upon a time, I would have considered this behavior very strange. But after all these years of trading, I perfectly understand the person who refused to share his forecast. Now I will explain why using the example of my trading forecasts for bitcoin. When I do a technical analysis of graffiti, then at these moments I am absolutely sure that everything is right and correct. But if I share this analysis with another trader, I will have a feeling that the illusion of my rightness and confidence will crumble. I don't know why this is so, but this phenomenon exists.

All of those both sharing your bet slip with someone else or having your trading analysis shared and it turns to bad luck are all superstition. People tend to believe that way because they are unfortunate that during the time they shared the bet, that they lose the bet and probably it occurs for sometime. These are all superstition, it has not been scientifically proven. Gambling majorly luck based so you don't expect to keep winning. I have heard some gamblers believing so many things but I don't subscribe to much of them.
2347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoins Vs legit Altcoins in 2023 on: July 29, 2023, 07:22:10 PM
What do you think? Why memecoin launching is increasing so much in this year?

During the year close to halving, these coins that are pump and dump are pushed into the market and you know the reason. It is for the bull season being expected. If bitcoin increase in price, every other coins have price increase also. Developers get more profit during this time because they and team will dump the memecoins and other shit coins to your face and so those who bought at high price will only feel scammed because the coin will lose value afterwards.
2348  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Terrorism in Africa on: July 29, 2023, 05:59:04 PM

government should engage more security measures to tackle terrorism because they will always fear the risk of being kidnapped, robbed or threatened to be killed in visited and they fall into the hands of terrorist.

Government officials are not the only endangered species on kidnapping or armed attackers. Once you have infiltration of guns in the society then every body is at risk. In fact government officials are more secured and protected with their families because they have security personnels guiding them day and night. Therefore, the onions is on the people to ensure that government do the right thing. To secure lives and properties are the primary obligation of the government.
2349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pros and Cons of Crypto vs. Traditional Gambling on: July 29, 2023, 05:33:53 PM

Bets are in U.S. dollars or other fiat currency
It’s easy to bet in your nation’s currency. Traditional gambling allows us to wager in dollars if we’re a U.S. citizen or Canadian dollars if we’re Canadian.

Wagering with traditional currency like $ or any cryptocurrency is the same purpose and also of the same value if you want to compare them too.  To the aspect of the process for the wager, you follow the directions of fiat or cryptocurrency depending on the one you prefer, so nothing is different but only choice. Some people prefer to play with cryptocurrency and I believe it is easier if you know how to navigate through the staking process. Nothing is hard with those wagering process.

2350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino Slot Steamers on: July 29, 2023, 03:39:04 PM
First, maybe you can correct your spelling in the thread title, it should Streamers not Steamers.

The spelling actually got me confused on the word.

Anyway, one fascinating streamer is Corinna Kopf, a young woman who is making a niche on the business. I read she has streamed for most of the casinos here, stake.com included. I'm not really a fan of streaming because I see it as what is sponsored by the casino and probably the streamer takes of commission from the numbers of followers both old and new.

2351  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security in the world has been shaken by Russia's actions on: July 29, 2023, 03:05:47 PM
Russia is really making a mistake with blocking this grain deal. Its very worth and important for whole world its not even related to anything military. I sometimes feel like Russia wants people to not focus on their unsuccessful operation in Ukraine. Food inflation is the evil mother of all evolution. Russia is directly causing food inflation for no reason whatsoever. It causes millions of people in the world to suffer. Someone should convince Putinists that this is far more important for whole world than their weird war.

You should understand that it will not be Putin's concern if the whole world suffer from food insecurity, inflation or not because that are under sanction and will want every other person to feel the negative impact. Blocking the grain deal is a sign for that. The effect of the Russian war has kept food prices high especially grain products. Grain is essential for the human feeding because large number of human consumption is from grain and they are all inflated now from bread, whiskey, beer, animal food, semolina, vodka, oats, flour.
2352  Economy / Gambling / Re: Loophole in stopping Money Laundering through Wagering on: July 29, 2023, 02:39:26 PM

BTW real money launderers use real cash and chips at real casinos. Crypto is much harder.

Another btw forgive me for saying but I think OP is just one of many people who doesn't really gamble, hence the notion of this loophole can work.

I'm thinking, is there a way that casino deposit conditions and processes can be bypassed for any launderer? Or will that be possible with casino owner and launderer. Because like you mentioned, it will be difficult to launder money through casino especially with KYC. Till date, government officials who launder money still do it with cash because of the personal relationship existing with the bankers who can easily bypass protocol for them .
2353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again. Will you take it? on: July 29, 2023, 01:58:07 PM

5 Bitcoins is really huge for most of people, but sometime we're live isn't because only for money.

There is a reason to what you have said and I see it. Asking someone on a condition to do something or not to do something for another is kind of deprivation of either some sort of freedom that comes with happiness. For some people, money is not anything while others cherish it. So it depends on who is involved in the matter of giving 5 btc not to gamble for a live time. A rich dude that gets enough fun because he gambles would not see the point of giving him that to sacrifice such freedom. And a poor guy will easily find joy with that already.
2354  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics everyone's business? on: July 29, 2023, 12:58:14 PM
The sad thing is that this has become a business for these politicians and it has become dirty because of those politicians that don't want to get out of it as they've experienced living their lives at their best when they enter.

Most politicians don't have defined job endeavour that they do and that is why they fight hard to retain themselves in power as retirement benefit. In Nigeria for instance, after the tenure of a governor he is automatically predicted to run for the post of a senate and that is rightly so, at the end of the next election you begin to hear their names as senators as they rig themselves in. And also likewise a senator after his tenure goes to contest for the governorship position and this happens across the local government too. This recycling of leaving one position to another is evident that they don't have any other job than politics. In the past people were uninterested to be in politics but this is not the case now.
2355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling experience using loan money on: July 29, 2023, 08:11:20 AM

I can take a loan to address other issues but taking a loan to gamble is not really a call for me also, have seen people especially in my own region placing bets on credit, which I don't think is ideal they always go with the mindset of winning, and the dept keep accumulating and sometimes I blame the betting agents for allowing them to play on credit, playing at your convince with your own money is the best, instead of adding more problems to yourself by loaning to play on dept.

Don't blame the betting agent for the irresponsible behaviour of a gambler who is only chasing to beat the house. Off line game houses give credit to customers who have played with them for some time, they do this because they can trace them to their houses or through their friends but motive to such credit facility is because they know that the possibility of winning is very low. Of course no body wants to give you money when they are sure that using the money against them would cause them losses, so they give it to them. I will blame those gamblers who don't set limits to themselves. As a responsible gambler, you are suppose to have your budget for gambling, your playing limit and days of playing of which when they are exhausted, you should wait for another set time and budget bankroll.
2356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: July 29, 2023, 06:55:22 AM

Gambling casinos should not ignore the incident and take measures so such incidents do not repeat in the future.

For such not to repeat itself, it means that the casinos would stop allowing taking of alcohol but I don't know how possible that will be because casinos usually have drinking bars in place for the gamblers especially the slot machines.

Although the man behaved very abnormal because people have been taking alcohol yet such abysmal nudity have not come to the public.
2357  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CBDC in Russia on: July 28, 2023, 09:27:32 PM
Russia has a large territory and it is impossible to ban cash there in a few years, but many countries have been unlucky in this regard. In countries with a small territory, it is easier to digitize all citizens and make a digital wallet for everyone. In Russia, this will first be implemented where the Internet is massively available, because many people use banking services via SMS.

Putin is trying everything possible not to make the Russians suffer the hardship from the sanctions since the beginning of the war with Ukraine since last year. I remember before the war started, Russia was not a bitcoin friendly country but after the sanctions, effort have been made to legalize bitcoin so that digital transactions can be opened with countries who are willing to trade with them. And now digital ruble is about to be launched in Aug 1 as optional financial transaction and transfers not investment, like other CBDC I think the whole essence is for convenience and ease for the banking industry.
2358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What kind of rewards/bonuses do you prefer? on: July 28, 2023, 08:26:33 PM
Affiliate marketing is one of the most challenging marketing and as a promoter one really needs to be ready to face several challenges both from the company and your downlines who most time depends on you for all their information and guidance, I don't really like affiliate marketing but to those who have a large number of followers who are actively involved in gambling, an affiliate could be a means of generating passive income on the long run.

-snip-
A bonus that in my opinion is very difficult to get and not all gamblers can do it, yes, this is an affiliate bonus that distributes referrals to a gambling site.
It's easy to share, but it's hard to get gamblers who want to use our links or referrals.
So far, only a few gamblers have been successful with affiliate bonuses, and even then, they have gone through many things so that other gamblers can really trust them.
Affiliate marketing is very difficult because we have to convince people that what we tell them will give them what they want. I remember the words of my neighbors who do business online and offline in affiliate marketing. He said it is very easy to spread our links or materials in many places, but the most difficult thing is how we can invite people to join us and work together to achieve success. The average person complains about not being able to do it because the image people have of this field of affiliate marketing is not very good anymore. Many feel cheated by the way it works, where only those at the top can get the full benefit while those below them have to help those below them again.

It is really difficult to get someone under you especially when they will also require to get another person under them. Such marketing is difficult to achieve. Most people if they observe that is what you are doing, they see it as waste of time for them to join you except you are lucky to have someone who have already made up their mind to sign up a gambling account then it could be easier to talk the person over signing with you.

I prefer that casinos can have bonus of access to direct withdrawal, not wager or spin Grin
2359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling experience using loan money on: July 28, 2023, 07:34:01 PM

I know of a forum member who borrowed funds from other friends on the forum, a lot of funds, and ended up losing a massive amount on a coin he was "so sure would moon" that he ended up just "running away" and screwing over his friends.

Just don't do it.

That phrase "so sure would moon" caught my attention because that has been the reason people will borrow money to go for it. They fear they will lose the opportunity if they don't play the lucky dip, they see it as opportunity to get rich and that will lead them into borrowing with the hope that once they stake the game the next thing will be cash out, it never happens that way. If gambling or any other sources of getting money was easy then money would have just been littered on the road. People get into depression when things like this happens especially if you are are trusted person among your friends, you don't have face to stay with them again if you can't repay the debt. This is unfortunate and we need to know that as we are gambling, we don't have to be unreasonable and give the, if it doesn't happen a thought also
2360  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Terrorism in Africa on: July 28, 2023, 07:05:20 PM

The people should consider carefully choosing their leader when a new election comes and preferably the right one should be already working to fix the problem even though he is not in the position yet.

The people know the right candidates to election in an electioneering season and those are the people they go for but the problem is that those corrupt politicians always manipulate the umpire and get thugs to do bidding of carry ballot boxes to go rig themselves in with the umpire  This is really sad because you keep getting and recircling bad eggs in government. These politicians deadly and dangerous, they will kill anybody on their way and that is why those good candidates can't get there easily even when the masses actually vote them in. Until this kind of situation begin to change, terrorism may still continue in Africa.
