1422  Economy / Economics / Re: Small Scale Business Ideas on: October 25, 2023, 05:32:25 PM
So I spoke with a business owner in Portugal concerning this particular topic and he told me that most times you need to raise seed from your close family and friends and start the business and allow the business to gain traction before the VCs can come in and talk about it or invest in it. If this is the major way or raising capital and funding then it means that loads of business ideas didn't see the light of the day.

This post is timely as it gives those businesses the platform to share it and see if they can get associates from in here.

I agree with the person you spoke with on financing startups businesses. Most of the business start from either getting support from families who give soft loan or unrefundable loans to their family members to start up business and try and become independent from them. They sometimes give it out as loan on the face level so that there will be the zeal to grow the business but afterwards the giver may not request even the capital. It is usually gesture to support a family member and many families have supported their siblings to grow in business.

1423  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The common saying Health is wealth on: October 25, 2023, 04:38:20 PM
The problem with such traders is ignorance. They are ignorant of the importance of their health and the need for medical checkup. And really they are the class of people who are involved in self medication, it is when their sickness get aggravated that they visit the hospital but by then, the damage has already been done.

Health is wealth is very significant because there are people who are rich but have health challenges that they can't enjoy the money they have either they are restricted from eating a particular kind of food or they are hospitalized from time to time. It is very important that we take care of our health at least while young so that as we age, we also keep maintaining it that way.

I understand that fruits are very important to the body and organs of the body so lets try to keep a routine with fruits.
1424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 25, 2023, 03:32:31 PM
I will also support this kind of decision in avoiding friends when you make a big win in gambling, this is not because you wanted to intimidate them or got them disappointed, but you wouldn't like to engage in doing any mistake that will result in loosing the entire money back to gambling and unnecessary spendings that are mostly orchestrated through friends, when you should be sitting down in planning how you can Invest with the money.

Nothing wrong with planning to grow or invest the money you won but not to totally avoid friends who know how you guys have come along way. Although, there are people who call those who are not their friends as friends but in real sense they are just acquittance but a real friend is that person who stood by you through thick and thin, so if you have a big win such people can even guide you in ideas to manage the money into lucrative business so that you don't go back to the dusk. The little beginning is always a cherish one so no point running out of friends when we win big, you only have to know who is your friends.
1425  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No Bread In Gaza - Killing For Food Will Start In Two, Three Days on: October 25, 2023, 02:22:46 PM
I just think this is about power drunk and show of supremacy but it is taking a bad effect on the people. I have watched very gory report from the war and that is not making me happy. Civilians are the worst hit and that makes it meaningless to target on harmless people. We pray that the peace talk will soon be unheld to avert the looming WW3 because things are really getting out of hand in the fight. Israel kept bumping and declaring to wipe out everyone in Gaza. Stop the bumping and let peace return.
1426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is the cash-out feature only available in sports bets? on: October 25, 2023, 01:27:53 PM

I was just wondering about the likelihood of that happening in any circumstance with in-house games of any nature, like in-house tennis games or any other in-house games that require rounds and time allocation that could possibly free that space for such actions to take place.

Your curiosity is understandable and like you have made instance of tennis games that has rounds to wait for before a turn or since they have it organized as tournament like you also have in  soccer. Well I can't say except the tournament is played like real game and not in house casino organized games because I know casino games start almost immediately you activate your bet and no room for cash out. Regards to tennis or basketball, it has cash out depending on the gambling company if they decide to remove the option.
1427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just like visiting a cinema on: October 25, 2023, 12:35:30 PM

I also not find it convincing too to compare gambling into watching a movie. When decided to watch you a movie, you know right at the beginning that youll gain nothing from except the experience of watching the moivie on big screen. Unlike once you place your bet, you are starting to hope taht you will win. Movies definitely have that chill social vibe where you can just kick back and enjoy without any pressure. Gambling on the other hand tends to bring that competitive edge into play. Even if we try to focus on the fun, the potential for making money is always there and its kind of hard to ignore.

But OP is right that we should enjoy playing on it and not make it as a means to make money. I totally agree with that.

The pressure is always there for gambling but there is no pressure in watching movie except you are the type that is not able to understand it is a movie and you go into anxiety especially for women and few men who feels that anxiety and this is usually with scary movie but nothing of such in gambling and if there are, it is for winning whose reason is because of the money involved and financial expectation that is involved if you win.
1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just like visiting a cinema on: October 25, 2023, 11:05:12 AM
True that! We can't argue that gambling isn't for entertainment, but mainly for typical gamblers. There are, however, advanced gamblers who see it as an opportunity to consistently make money. Let's not dwell on that too much, as I'm sure only a few can relate.

So, yes, gambling is entertainment, and we should just enjoy it. When we go to a cinema, we spend money to get entertained, and it's the same with gambling. Because if you spend more than you can afford to lose, you're no longer getting entertainment; you've driven yourself into the dark hole of problems.

The truth is that we can't pretend that gambling involves the expectation of something greater than you have given so that the other party is in loss to prove at least a winner. Winners always have price whichever the price is whether financial benefits or other gains of advantage. So cinema is totally for fun as primary purpose and even while at the cinema you can yet gamble out side for whatever you want to prove in the movie you are watching either to show you have seen it before and can tell the story in the movie. My point therefore is that even while relaxing at the movies you can gamble on a phenomenal with some other person or even your girlfriend or wife maybe not for cash but for a particular gain or advantage which could even be at the home front if you understand what I mean  Grin

Gambling is just something more than entertainment because majority of those embarking on it does not do it for the entertainment only.
1429  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 25, 2023, 09:54:53 AM
It's one of question which differs from person to person. How do you define richness?

Like People buy Bitcoin, see the price increase, and feel like they are getting rich quickly..

These are all true feelings and obsessions.

This world is strange. Grin Grin

Lol... Well everything can blow up in their face just when they think the bull run will continue the next 24 hours, weeks or months but before you say jack, the next our comes the unannounced retracement until you see you have gone back to where you came in from. That was what happened last bull and might repeat again for some wanting to hodl to riches.

Anyway, rich is the known and established status not the process  ongoing waiting for bull run. However, people who can afford what they want at any point classify themselves as rich.
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Market warms up, what altcoins can help me rich? on: October 25, 2023, 08:51:30 AM

What altcoins can help me rich in 2024 and 2025?

Any idea?

Have you considered dogecoin? Going with the last bull run and the performance of doge coin, it could be a better fit for another try especially when it was not expected to have such an outstanding ATH of $0.73 last two years. It is currently selling at $0.06, so imagine a 100% rise and more which is not impossible and in fact it could be easily achieve at the next bull run next year. Moreover, dogecoin has the backing of the most influential social media hype from Elon musk.

A ) Free Spooky Spins https://shorturl.at/anFPZ
To claim your free spooky spins on your favorite games, simply deposit at least $100 and wager it on the slots.

Why do someone need to claim "free spooky spin" by depositing a $100  when it is called free ?

Well I have seen different bonanza and all that opening up this Halloween season I wonder what it is up to. I will stay out for that and watch what it is up to.

This is not looking funny. I think the security personnel should go in for the culprit of this news. If there are allegations of withdrawal issues then to proof by document is the best thing to do and not to make things look messy on media like it is all to the attempt to distract customers.

1433  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Opportunity come but once. on: October 24, 2023, 11:19:49 PM
Well e dey dicey with the story wey you drop follow am.

We all know say btc this time around na good investment, almost like sure profit taking before or close to next year December but you need to dey careful make debt no follow you.

Na how you go take pay back the money be the koko, abi you dey federal job  Grin
for this business nothing sure oh nah just base on how BTC son take stay for long more than a decade nah make people mind just strong for the currency but inno still mean say the tin sure finish.

Money wey no be your own no try am at all to reason use am invest for bitcoin weda sure or no sure profit the risk nah yeyeh risk. I dey always tell people say bitcoin no dey run, calm down use ur own money wen you get am invest make u for get rest of mind while investing.

If this op go fit get #1.5M take do contributions for late papa memorial then him supposed to get more than that amount as him own money for bank account so make him use him own money take invest BTC, no use contribution money it is not an opportunity but stupidity cos if kasala gas naw u go just regret onto shame say nah you do wetin papa memorial no hold. You sef op reason am

Most of us go dey talk no use loan money invest for btc or borrow money take invest. What of if the person get means to dey pay the money small small while the investment dey run into majority just like I give instance already.

Although I been advise op against it because maybe him no get where to take pay back but truely na opportunity dey him face like that (if he has a way to start gathering it back) if he can wait for the bull incase e no really happen for 2024.

Talking about the loan to invest, we know sabi say many wealthy people dey borrow money take do business and business go dey move under loan while Dem pay and collect bigger cash again self. Na that one make when some wealthy people die, their business go collapse because bank go collect their money one way or the other.

1435  Economy / Economics / Re: Cracking the Code of Saving Money... on: October 24, 2023, 08:41:19 PM

How do you manage to save in a world that encourages spending? Let's talk about it.

Every human will want to get even things they don't need immediately but will be useful in the future, so try to buy what you need at the moment and anything that you buy that is not in immediately use is as if you have wasted the money because such money would have been used to get the needful. Therefore avoiding wasteful spending is one way to be prudent.

Another way to save is to invest. This is magical in the way it works because when you don't only keep you money redundant but you make it work for more money then it means you are growing your savings rate to come from different angles. Investment increases your savings level because you generate money to be saved from different directions.
1436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 24, 2023, 07:04:53 PM
It is only a professional gambler who has taken on gambling as a career that would keep records. For me I think the reason why such a person would keep record is one to keep track of their profits and losses, for tax purposes, and maybe any other reason. Regular gamblers like you and I do not keep any record because we see no importance in doing so. But we will not fail to recall our losses and wins if there is ever a need for that during a conversation.

I accept the aspect of tax purposes if the gambler is in the country where tax is levied on the winnings from gambling. This is to take direct check on how much has come in as profit and losses to know how much the tax office is to deduct or not to incase there is no winning. Apart from that, I don't expect professional gambler to worry himself about taking record of how much he wins since he is a professional meaning he must be in profit. Those who will worry about records are those who record losses more to take account of their expenses. Generally, it is more tedious to start taking record on gambling expenses and winnings if you are a regular player.
1437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Lady Cried After Losing to Sports Bet. Gambling is Not Your Mate. on: October 24, 2023, 06:00:56 PM

When people invest their life saving in the gambling then of course they will have serious health issues if they lose their life savings in front of their eyes. For those who can't bear this loss, they better stay away from gambling and do something else like investment in startup a business or anything which is less riskier then gambling.

Well people see gambling as a way for quick money and few people could have the patience of growing startup because that is not easy to do but with gambling it is envisage to be fast money spiner but unfortunately it doesn't turn out that way.

With startup, you have so much expenses to take care of before expecting returns like payment of rent, highering of staff or labour and payment for their bills and many other miscellaneous, yet you still need like 3/6 months before expecting profit if it will come.

Those who are gambling focus more on winning and not loses especially new gamblers like the lady in question. She might gambled with money that was meant for something extremely important which could be the reason that she is crying.
1438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 24, 2023, 05:29:48 PM

there are several times we loose without winning, now the target should be in setting a limit for both win or loose before one can withdraw for home in using a gambling casino, this is funny but the truth of the matter.

This is a good advise but for me I wouldn't set a limit for my winning if at all I observe that I was going to win in a bet because you have to take such chance too. I'm not saying you have to bet what you can't afford but a lucky day should be utilized. There are days that lucky days for a gambler so no need to take escape root but to stick for it until if you observe the losses are coming.

Sometimes at the offline game house you see you are winning any game that you play especially the visual soccer, then you have to take the opportunity and not to panic out because at the days of loses, you won't win a $ but may lose x100 of a $.
1439  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigerian naira hits record black market low of 1,100 per dollar on: October 24, 2023, 04:33:57 PM

Truth be told, criminals are the ones leading this country in disguise as noble men, they are in that position for themselves and their families, it's so sad.

For whatever reason that is happening nobody knows. Nigeria is blessed in natural resources and human resources/capacity but with bad and wicked people finding their way to government.

A Nigerian outside Nigeria performs better than when in the soil of Nigeria because their is high level of nepotism that doesn't allow people to grow, no infrastructure to help support investment and small businesses are folding because it can't just survive in the hard economy. The people are suffering serious hardship because of inflation and nothing is done about it, no organized system but corrupt legislatures, judiciary and executives that are only after their pockets. If you are not in government then you are just made miserable, so unfortunate.
1440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 24, 2023, 04:01:12 PM

I think that this could be a cool way to battle gambling addiction, if someone start writing the entire money they use on gambling down somewhere they can wake the hell up and decide to call it a quit, it's definitely going to look stupid for playing all along, the only difference for me is I use very small amount.

Yes writing the record of your deposit and withdrawal is a good way to take a check on yourself to keep playing or not but I don't think it is for the addicts. An addict won't have that mindset to go that way because he is still engrossed to keep trying to win but anything that leads him to start going for records on his activities on gambling then that means he is near to quitting the addiction because he probably would see his losses and that may discourage him from playing persistently or quitting eventually.
