I have over 650 posts, so applied for this last night. Curious if it can reach at least ITC/Comm coin levels in value.
But the requirements changed after I applied. I am eligible for -- 20,000,000 SFC for 100 bitcointalk member. If you meet this conditions, you will get 200,000 SFC
Late last night there was just the 100K level option, so that is what I used. PMed the dev, hoping he can change my application level for me. I guess this was one of those situations where it was a detriment to be too early.

The thing that I find most bothersome is that exchanges never vetted the coin, evidently. I also don't know how the coin got listed on the bigger exchanges to begin with, unless money changed hands.

I'm not entirely sure what I am looking at on that link. But Maple Coin was made by Anonymous Pirate, who also made Maza Coin ... and probably some other coins ... supposedly Greece Coin too, based on a post by someone who said that AP/Boxxa stole the HellasCoin idea. *wonders*

What is happening at the moment is some are cashing out big profits and whales are trying to put in fake sell orders to keep the price down so all is good. It's great for the coin to change hands anyway. I am holding for the long term.
I sort of hope the price remains where it is now for a little while. It's a bit more peaceful to build slowly than jump like it has been. I'm not sure if whales are cashing out for big profits necessarily, but instead selling high/buying low... and ending up with even more coins. But at some point whales will begin simply selling some coin, taking all profit. I'm just a regular xbc fish with about 125 coins, but I've wondered at what point should I cash out some.

Well, about locking up the premine coins , still no update?
JP did give a small update. Read the last couple pages. Yup , JP told us a plan . But I belive that most of us want to know when JP can carry out the plan . I agree. I am really surprised that the syrup wasn't even mailed out yet either. I mean, it's sort of a small thing ... but why would it take weeks to mail out some syrup? The dev needs to lay out some timetable... any sort of timetable. The premine should be locked up within two weeks of the coin's release, other exchanges should be contacted, bounties put out and something that hasn't been mentioned much .... distribution/promotion to quebec people. There was this whole thing about small amounts of coin that were supposed to be given away to the larger centers in Quebec (montreal, etc), for promo purposes. Which in turn could lead to a minor amount of media coverage... leading to more becoming interested in the coin ... leading to more exchanges... well, you get the idea. But strangely we haven't had any timetable or plan laid out for any of those things yet. Working on the android wallet is fine and all, but in my opinion the above things are more important. It's not like an android wallet release will make people rush to buy/use quebecoin all of a sudden.

Strangely appropriate. Each Lakota can take their 1000 maza, assuming they ever get it, and buy a sticker with it -- pretty much the equivalent in value at this point.

i am glad i didn't mine this very long! I was curious though does anyone know if "mazacoin" is legit or not? I was going to start mining it when the rig i bought off ebay gets here.
It's legit in the sense I don't think the devs will dump the premine. But part of that is due to the fact the coin has tanked so badly, there isn't much to be gained by dumping anyway. I won't tell you to mine it or not, but do your research on the coin. If it was me, I'd just pick the most profitable coin to mine, sell, and buy whatever I want with the btc gained.

Because if the price has gine up from watever happening to the site. I was buying and selling since the start makng extra coins I just hoping they nit sold and the price skyrocket cos my sell is low
Yeah, that can be a risk. What was the last price before the site went down? I was on earlier when many coins all of sudden changed to frozen. Then I tried to log back in like an hour later, and site was down. I never saw what the last price was. I have some spare xbc on the exchange to play with, but I'm such a chicken with trading. Every time I think I should sell a bit of xbc off, I hesitate, thinking it could go up soon. And each time I hesitated, it has gone up. Nobody wants to sell a coin for .008 when in a week or two it could be at litecoin or higher levels. I'm not good with gauging price levels on new coins.

Did the Mazacoin dev disappear? I thought he was publicly known and went on interviews and things like that?
The mazacoin team is a bizarre one. Disappear is the wrong term, they never showed up here at all. Their devs purposely stayed away from this forum because they didn't want to deal with 'fud'. AP apparently coded the coin, holds the code/rights/whatever and may be legally blind, based on his webpage layout. Boxxa was lead dev, or something like that, but quit after seeing the new website. That, and the fact that AP denied allowing the community to help at all, which included a new logo and community made website. Payu is the public spokesman, who has rather odd marketing skills. When people here were asking for a fork to lower rewards to stabilize the price, begging for a dev to show up here to talk to people... to create a new website... do something... he posted a youtube video of himself jumping into a lake.

this is not an official video, done by a community member as a music video for fun, our official video is on the website. you fools.
One thing I always found weird was how easily careless crypto people seem to be with copyright infringement. I have no idea why anyone would be a marinecoin promoter, besides the dev himself, of course. I guess one plus from the video is that I feel like watching Amelie again.

Just noticed the extra coins were killed just now. How many were saved from it for promotion/bounties and such?
And it's weird seeing a rich list with the top people having so few coins. I'm used to thinking in millions+ for coins.
None were saved because XBC devs are transparent and did as the public majority voted for full destruction. The only downside to not saving a little is that now we as a community need to donate to fund some future goals down the line. This will get easier once per coin value increases 10x the current, but the people who voted full destruction need to step up as well now and donate I voted to save some for bounties. Hopefully rich people do donate some. It would have been easier to have kept at least a little tucked away for promo/bounties/etc, but what done is done.

Yes. Without a doubt Mazacoin put the final nail in the nation coin coffin.
It certainly didn't help matters. The maza devs did basically every single thing wrong from a dev standpoint. They are the only coin I've ever seen that purposely was anti-community and didn't want any help + feedback from people supporting the coin. But what really hurt nation coins was a combination of weariness due to so many copycats, really bad coins that basically screamed 'scam' (mandarin, australia, etc), where the devs apparently were not even from the nation, nor had a valid airdrop plan, and the simple fact that after an airdrop, the price of the coin logically falls... a lot. People who held Aur and other coins should have expected this, but if they held, they not only lost money but probably were then wary of other nation coins. Quebecoin doesn't have the airdrop/falling price problem. Yet due to this, it has less hype... which is another problem.

Your activity on the thread post launch was detrimental. Do you have a time frame for these upcoming projects? Like someone mentioned the first 3 weeks after launch are super critical to a coins success.
Yeah, I'm not sure what is going on with the dev, but the time to be scarce isn't right after a coin's release. And definitely not when it's an IPO. The price is still salvageable. I do suggest the dev stop in the forums at least once a day, if he can. Even if there is no real news, just to say what is being worked on, and future plans. If you want an example of a coin with a non-present dev in the forums, look at maza. Bad things happen.

I really would like to join in the IPO as I am a full time Crypto Momma and I am saving up crypto to be re united with my Son. I also am a full time Crypto Blogger and conduct coin giveaways as well. I can be of good service to the Coin in general promotion. . I am a long standing member of the Crypto Community and this forum. And Yeah , IF dev looking to get on some good xchanges then definetly give her a share as she will create much hype in Poloniex's Trollbox. Agreed. I had hoped for a stake, PMed the dev, but not put on the giveaway list. I hope he just overlooked me or something and will add it later. I also seem to be having some wallet issues, as it won't sync for me, or at least the last several times I tried it, it won't. Anyone else having any wallet syncing problems?

A quick question, seeing I have bought a few XBC........ I like this by the way.
When the coins get destroyed will that mean some coins I already have are going to disappear?
Nah, they are the extra coins that weren't sold during the previous ipos. You can see it as that big fat wallet in the rich list. It's a good thing in regard to value and scarcity. Sort of the equivalent to doubling your coins, not halving them.

What's with the crash on Bittrex? That's quite a lot of selling and a real price crash. An -89.8 move.
Its kinda evident that the coin is dead. Drop in Hashrate to less that 1 GH and People selling at whatever satoshis they can get. Its so undervalued right now that about 80% of the coins on bittrex could be bought for under 3 BTC... but nobody's bothering to. That is saying something very loud and clear. In the off chance that Poloniex or Mintpal picks it up, this coin has hopes of a comeback. I wouldn't say it's dead, but I might put it in critical condition. There are a couple of issues going on, but they aren't that easy to fix. First, the nation coin fad sort of came and went between the coin ann, and its release. What makes the coin better than other nation coins also leads to less hype, so people just ignore it. That, and I think the dev may have underestimated the speed at which crypto moves, which was one of my concerns with the 2 year drop plan. By the time any drops occur, the coin may be worthless (ie maza). The first two weeks during a coin's release is when people want to see an active dev, new wallets, new exchanges, and a bit of hype around a coin. And I don't mean just to pump the coin for a later dump. Just to raise the floor of the coin to respectable levels and keep volume. That's why I mentioned that if poloniex can't be convinced to take the coin right now, it may not be a bad idea for the dev to look at smaller exchanges. It's not ideal, but it's something. If it was me, I'd try to try to set up an arrangement similar to what Noble did with that Austin exchange... get them to promote the coin, offer a discount right on their main page.

That's the same thought I had, mine have been in my wallet since buying from ipo.
I see a few have increased their stake, and very likely because people sitting on polo and reading the trollbox and panic selling due to all the fud!
My first thought was ... wow, I am richer than I thought! With my measly 100+ coins... I'm on the rich list. Until I realized that was due to simply so many people keeping coins on the exchange. I don't really get the selling that occurred the other night. Explorer just came out, new wallet + website is about to come out, which also probably means MP may take the coin, PLUS they seem to be almost definitely destroying nearly half the coins, making everyone's holdings twice as scarce. I'd think it'd be smart to hold for a while, and if you want to sell, see where the price ends up. The trollbox can be amusing and weird. I see fud + hyping all the time ... Buy Diem, it will triple today (while it's been pumped 2-3x times value already)! Sell XBC, it's about to crash any second (when it goes down 5%)! Who realistically believes any of that stuff?
|
|
|
That rich list is sort of interesting. I think the key point I take away is that way too many people leave their coins on exchanges.

wow, now I know you're a troll. It doesnt say shit about cnn and the facebook page is filled with payu bitching, acting ghetto, and cursing like a sailor. If this is really Payu, then we're all fucked.
That can't be his real facebook page, can it? I mean... ack...
