Just checking in on these FRIYAY's

Home cooked "ugly dressed" as how jimbo would say ... but still delicious imo ...

Well Goddamn it, I lost a day!

I actually thought of posting a chow shot the other day of my New York strip at the casino but don't have the board setup on my phone and actually barley know how to use android. I removed all the fucking google shit and now its impossible to install anything!

Fdroid, if you are doing that...

Yep, I've seen this movie before. Twice actually.

We've all known that along with a new Bitcoin bull run, comes a new laundry list of shitcoin scams pushed on the masses of unsuspecting n00bs in order to distract them away from btc.

Cept, for the third time in a row its fucking ETH.  It seems it's going to take a disaster (I mean a really really big one.. didn't another just regular big one just happen again?) for the masses to realize that the ETH model is seriously flawed?

OK.  Argue with me.

-I have added the Liquid app to my ledger.
-Loaded Greenwallet on my desktop.
-Playing around with liquid.

Green wallet is buggy... at least with the Ledger.

This set of tradeoffs, although aimed at exchanges is pretty damn cool for regular users.  The fedarated model makes a bitcoin like experience crazy cheap, fast and seamless.  It could be a sweetspot for a semi-trusted model.  And it has CT built in.. it's not Monero for privacy, but it's headed there.

Whenever I am exploring this, or arguing that PayPal bitcoin is not the end of the world it is because I believe we can have a basket of security tradeoffs.

Since we chose to have small blocks we are going to have to have multiple solutions for cheap transactions.  This one is unique and a sleeper in my opinion.

I actually am enjoying holding tether in here...  Anyone want to send a dollar back and forth?

Should I go get my own cross?  Or are you guys gonna provide one?

-edit- speaking of crosses...  Exchanges and custodians as part of the federated model, could allow their users to float in and out of liquid (they actually already are) and they hold the coins while the users dribble small amounts into their wallet that they can then send back and forth with other users for everyday transactions (think groceries).

The reason this is not the end of the world for Bitcoin is NO ONE can stop ANYONE from transacting on the BTC blockchain...  but it WILL be expensive.

Pick your poison.

Are you guys gonna sharpen the nails?  Or am I?  Wait... you might want them dull...hmm.

There is no doubt the media is no longer anything CLOSE to unbiased anymore

Were they ever?

I don't know... You are a little older than me.  I remember when they used to at least PRETEND to be even and unbiased.  Now they are so ridiculously partisan and downright manipulative and evil.  Seems like pure propaganda now.  And the masses are swallowing it all whole.
2368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 04, 2021, 03:51:56 PM
I know exactly what happened as that shit happens to me often. His tweet about Bitcoin had repercussions. Real life ones that would impact his business and the ability to move forward on his projects. They pretty much told him to shut up about Gamestonk and Bitcoin or else.

This lead to him posting that he will be off of twitter for a while.

Then he was like...fuck it...I'll just post some shit about Doge to show people that I'm not seriously endorsing anything, that he's just having fun on twitter.

He is now openly fucking with those that threatened him.

....

Musk is just lashing out.

I get what you are saying, as I had the same thoughts.

But what kind of fucked up world do we live in, where the Michael Saylors and the Winklevosses of the world can sing the praises of Bitcoin all day every day, but the Elon Musks of the world are threatened and told to shut up about it? That distracting the world with shitcoin and meme stonk talk is ok'ed and encouraged?

Meanwhile billionaires are secretly taking large positions in Bitcoin, large hedge funds are secretly doing the same, banks and payment processors are looking to become future custodians of Bitcoin, and all the while the media is telling Average Joe that Bitcoin is a scam, a bubble, to stay away, etc. ?? Still to this day, 10 years after inception, they are still telling the public that.

I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime. This shit is fucking unbelievable. It's gone full retard now.

It's no wonder why Average Joe is poor (and staying poor).

I can't claim to understand what Musk is doing... he seems to enjoy playing with DOGE, and almost seems to like to fantasize about it becoming the "money of the world".  I think he would get a kick out of it if he could cause it to disrupt bitcoin to whatever extent.  Or maybe he's just putting out smokescreens to manipulate the markets... or he's just bored.  No idea really.

As to the media pushing Avg Joe away from the corn... God I don't know how to read this either.  There is no doubt the media is  no longer anything CLOSE to unbiased anymore, and it is clear the foundational aspects of bitcoin work against what the people in those institutions believe in.  It is not going to help with their shared goals of the whole "great reset" type of world order with CBDCs sucking value away from the rich while airdropping on the poor etc etc...

On the other hand the people at the top of the bell curve pretty much always remain asleep until the revolution is nearly over.  It could just be that they are just THAT average.

I don't know.

Also, being bitten by the Black Widow Spider there and moving to another state soured me on the possibility of living out in the sticks.  I also saw snakes on the place...  South Texas has some nasty creatures.

Rick can't stand Tarantulas.

Austin is practically overrun with them, from what I'm led to understand.

Not so much in the area we are looking in. Guess it gets too cold up here. Not many scary things around the Dallas parallel. Brown Recluse, Black Widow, Water Moccasins, and the occasional Rattle Snake are all that I'm aware of. Have only ever personally eyeballed a Black Widow around these parts.

You know what's crazy... first few weeks I was in Dallas (90s) I was walking in a park in Oak Cliff, and made my way onto a tennis court.  Just randomly.

And like 8 tarantulas came out of the brush on the other side of the chain link fence on one side... scampered across the court to the other side and disappeared into the brush over there...

Ever since then I look kinda horse-eyed at every tennis court I see... but, never again have a seen that.

We need to earn on DEXes-that's the real way forward.

The "best" DEXes are on non-bitcoin chains / networks. You know it. I know it. But would you actually turn your BTC corns into something else? The "safest" is to just be a liquidity provider for the stable coins so you don't get any impermanent losses, since both of them will be almost at the same value for as long as you leave it there.

I mean, 1 USDT = 1 USDC = 1 DAI (or other dollar stablecoin) or very close to it.

I really do not see how it is possible to make money on staking and DeFi with gas being $50-100 for a transaction. The only way anyone will use a DEX is if they're trading millions.

I think atomic swaps, bisq and Lightning make more sense for a DEX. Lightning colored coins looked like a great solution for the ability to issue "tokens". Admittedly, my hope for Bitcoin as an every day currency is hampered by the high transaction fees. But LN creates the possibility. I also understand how difficult LN is as well.

Most people don't like them but I like Blockstream's Liquid solution for all of this. For the simple fact that they are practicing advanced Bitcoin features on their sidechain which includes Bitcoin native smart transactions.

For much of what we all talk about, the poor stock market, the poor system of governance in place right now, we need to have effective alternatives in place before we do any work to bring it all down. Otherwise an even worse solution will get implemented.

I had not even read your whole post before I was composing a "what about Liquid" response  (human nature...)

But I honestly believe Adam Back and friends really really have set up a sleeper layer two solution that will most likely seem to come out of nowhere later this year or next.

Here's the beauty:

Cashapp, Bakkt, Paypal and friends?  Custodian 100% trusted layer 2.  Super smooth transactions... super vulnerable model.

Lightning?  Trust minimized, smart contract based layer 2.  Fast, Hard to use, doesn't always work (yet) not great for ginormous tx.

Liquid?  Federated trust model.  So, somewhere between the other two. Distributed.  Hard to shut down.  Multi jurisdictional.  FAST,  cheap...  Much wow.  Already working with tokens (USDT for example. I have a couple in my green wallet!)

All three have tradeoffs.  Liquid might be closest to the sweet spot.

Future?  Atomic swaps, bisq improvements, lightning improvements.. etc...

But does anyone else see the Liquid tradeoffs as kinda really good?

That Portnoy guy is like, the worst investor I’ve seen since mindrust.

Makes you wonder how he got rich in the first place.

You telling me that exposing yourself to a 700k loss on "memes" is not the traits of a sound trader?

Imagine the BTC he could have bought instead, lol.

I sent a guy a lot of bitcoin for the rights to the "Over 9000" meme.

I think it's probably about time I check with him to see how much money I made. I think it was probably a whole lot. That was going on for quite a while.

I may re-invest into the "that escalated quickly" meme.

Ah... I own that one...  I will start the bidding at 2btc, but I guarantee it will *ahem* "go up fast"...

anyway you can fit a 1/4 mile drag strip on one of the straightaways? bonus points if its your driveway too.

Actually, yes. The driveway will be *AT LEAST* serving as a straightaway 1/4 mile drag strip before hitting the bridge leading towards the main parcel of land.

Difficulty factor: Roaming, grazing cattle. Will need to find some way of making sure the cattle are completely isolated from the driveway and racetrack.

EDIT: Jesus a lot of my $GME buy orders executed today, on the way down. YOLO !!!

Oh, the problems of zillionaires.   Wink

As far as i have understood it: Robinhood is ONLY giving you a margin account. So they are allowed to liquidate your margin long position, if the prices moves against you.

The interesting part of these "Neobrokers" is just this conclusion: You never buy stocks there.

Not your certificate.  Not your stonk.

Fun Fact: Did you know that you can't even get access to a stonk certificate that you own outright?

Patrick Byrne, the once CEO of Overstock.com (a company he founded and owned) tried to get the actual certs for the stocks he owned. He wanted the physical documents in his hand.

The DTCC gave him the run-around for months and months, and then finally told him to just drop it.

True fucking story.

My Grandmother's generation held their own certs.  In their safe deposit boxes.  My great uncle (a millionaire back in the 60s from stock trading) held all his certs.  He went crazy at the end, and in his will he left all those certs to family members.

We are only now realizing as a culture (worldwide too) that we have been robbed.  Over and over.

The peasants are awake.  At least some of them are now.  And the question is: will it be enough to tip the scales?

I wonder what this revolution will be called when it makes the history books.

As a direct result of hearing about the GME play and doing only the very shallowest of digging, there has been a huge increase in the number of individuals who, with no previous interest in all of this, are now becoming aware of the massive levels of manipulation and corruption within the system. Individuals with zero past interest in financial markets or economics are talking about this. It's all over MSM. Cult figures with millions of online followers are contributing to the lifting of the veil.

This can only lead to a significant increase in the number of individuals who wil see the situation clearly for the first time. And they'll want to know what can be done about it.

Soon enough they will conclude that money must become decentralized.

Only a little more digging will bring them to BTC.

And then...prepare the gifs.

Only problem with this scenario is it implies the stock market ends up collapsing...  If that happens?

Wow.

Such bad.
2379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 01, 2021, 03:25:18 PM
I have spent a few Monero in the last few weeks.

Honestly it was quicker and easier than bitcoin.

Maybe the seller respected the payment method more or something.

XMR has been faster and more economical (by wide margins) than BTC for quite a while.  I use XMR.to if I must pay out BTC.

Kinda sad, but no more... good game  XMR.to...

Just popping to say I love all of you.. even JJG.  Just because I am not posting, doesn't mean I dont! Smiley

I have mentioned several times (with my bad opsec) that I work for a hospital system.  I have been building and rolling out the workflows for our Vaccine Clinics.  I am headed out to one right now to support the users as we get all the elderly, caretakers, and at risk folks vaxxed up.

If I get covid doing this I am gonna be pissed, but it is what it is.

In the meantime does anyone know where I put my doge wallet?  Wink

Oh, by the way...  I have not had time to read in here... but I am hoping itshappening.gif has been worn out.   Cuz, umm... y'all see what's coming right?  It's actually scaring me a little.  Seriously.

In case it's not here...
