BadBear, thanks for quoting those posts, I can sleep tight now!

Not sure if you're a bad bear or a good bear Tongue

I am sorry I don't want to be rude. But I believe that the future will not hold for this coin because the owner holds too many coins compared to the rest: 80% of the total. Unbelievable. That's why I shamelessly promote Monero (formerly known as Bitmonero) instead.

How do you know it is the owner that holds those coins? Can't it be the whole deep community?
2383  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The database of all of the bitcoin private keys on: April 28, 2014, 02:14:40 PM
So I can sleep now.

On the other hand, no panic means no cheap Bitcoins this time, sigh.
2384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: April 28, 2014, 02:08:28 PM
Wasnt Bytecoin stealthmined for quite some time? Its will be almost centralized

Wasn't Bitcoin stealthmined in 2009 and 2010?
Not 80% of all Bitcoin..

That doesn't make it centralized though. We don't know the size of the dark web community that exchanges these coins on regular basis. It would be a mistake to imagine them as a handful of people. Just because we're late at the party doesn't mean it is their fault. They wanted to be stealth, so what's wrong with it? We're free to mine or not mine this coin.

Any update on the 'Connection Problem' issue with Minergate app?

My other downloads/uploads are running fine; I can even mine almost anything else, but Minergate app tells me there is a connection problem and it's now almost impossible to mine BCN with it.
2387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [RAD] Radioactive Coin- Scrypt Jane, ASIC Resistant, Exchanges, Services on: April 28, 2014, 11:52:04 AM
This coin is so radio-active; I started mining a few days ago and I have cancer already!

I visited my local hospital and they advised me to stop mining RAD or it could get worse.
2388  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What would you mine with free electricity? on: April 28, 2014, 10:58:57 AM
Considering the rocketing difficulty of BTC, I would buy 3 of those Gridseed blade miners and mine Litecoins. One can always convert Litecoins to BTC.

Use Kaspersky Internet Security 2014. Very affordable and one of the best of its kind out there. I have been using them for almost three years now, and I have never faced any problem.  Grin

+1

Using Kaspersky for last 5 years and impressed by it.

When I open my wallet, I get an "error opening blkindex.dat" message. I swear, upgrading to 1.8 was a very very bad idea.

I upgraded from 1.4 to 1.8 and I also received same error. Still not resolved. But I still have wallet 1.4 and I have all my coins intact. It's just that I can't use the newer wallet 1.8

oh lord, i watched pacific rim and fell asleep 15 minutes in. and i'm usually someone who has trouble falling asleep.

kanye west loving it sounds about right. he probably thinks the story is deep.
I liked it. The music was quite good, and it featured 2 main characters from Sons of Anarchy so I had to check it out.

I generally like high action drama, so I liked that one too.

Why does it seem to me that only newbie accounts tend to praise this coin? Maybe the dev team trolling themselves?  Roll Eyes

WOW,yeah
Good idea,2014 world cup~!
I was bullish on was the future of SCC.

The world cup is coming, the passion of the season, SCC!

There are some keys which show some transactions. I imported one and it once had 2 BTC in it
another good joke along with OP Cheesy

Not so.

How close is this number to all Bitcoin addresses that can ever be generated?

Not really. Though the private keys are 256 bits, there are only 2^160 addresses.

That's 49 decimal digits; how come this guy claims to have generated addresses in quantity of 78 decimal digits?

For a valid private key, it is always associated with a bitcoin address.
But, there are many different valid private keys that can lead to the same address.

Total number of valid bitcoin private key: slightly less than 2^256
Code:
115792089237316195423570985008687907852837564279074904382605163141518161494337
Total number of valid bitcoin address: 2^160
Code:
1461501637330902918203684832716283019655932542976

That's 78 decimal digits. So the only way the poster's claim is wrong is that either the site does not have UNIQUE keys (keys are duplicated every few pages) or they're not valid keys after all.

The site lists 128 keys per page. Multiplying that to the number of pages it claims gives the following number:

How close is this number to all Bitcoin addresses that can ever be generated?

I am trying to find out if the poster tried to generate ALL Bitcoin addresses that can ever be generated. And if yes, how well did he succeed?
2397  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The database of all of the bitcoin private keys on: April 28, 2014, 06:22:42 AM
WTF is this? Who owns these addresses and who is posting them on open internet?

This database owner's purpose is to prove that bitcoin is secure, public, strong and transparency. That's it. If you know bitcoin deeply, you will get the answer.

This is the bitcoin philosophy - transparency but secure even the nowadays bank system can't make it.

That is why we are Bitcoiners.

Well...  if they're indeed private keys, then its not secure. Am I missing something here?

You are missing the core of bitcoin. I am not a coder, but I trust it. I hope the core dev can explain this in an easy way.

In simple words: Whoever has a private key has access to the Bitcoins attached to that private key (and related public address).

So:
If those private keys belong to the poster, it is not secure for the poster.
If those private keys belong to some other people, it is not secure for those other people.

Is it complicated to understand or am I wrong here?

P.S. : Probably all of those addresses have 0 balances and 0 transactions, so I'm not getting into 'theft' part. What I'm concerned about is how this database came into possession of someone on the internet if it is not his own.

All addresses are showing 0 transactions on blockchain. Maybe someone setup these many addresses on his own using an automated tool?
