Yeah, if it was all automated, then I expect any business person could manage it.

I'd almost be afraid of where some people here would want to put their faucets, so not so sure it'd make sense for the IPO. Or at least limit what can be placed on the official map for the project. You may end up with faucets in Antarctica, the middle of the Pacific, inside war zones, etc.

Coin looks good. I applied for the free coins, but don't even see my name on the list. Should I wait before resending a PM to you?

I have 1k coins snug in wallet I took them off polo..Just got a few coins on there to play with..I want this coin to grow organically and in a stable fashion. Smiley

Going to do the same, but on a smaller scale, as I'm not an XBC whale.

Going to take around 100 coins off polo, and leave about 20-30 on the exchange just to trade with. I do best when I forget I even have coins... leave them in the wallet tucked away and just wait.

What kind of bounty you think it would take? There's 3000 QBC for the Wallet and it has no traction at all... What kind of bounty would Busoni require? 10, 100, 1000$?

Actually I have no idea. I just remember seeing a new coin with an exchange bounty listed, and stating it was claimed by poloniex. I'm also not sure how the dev can word it so that only a decent sized exchange accepts it. Usually the bounties are for any exchanges, and the dinky ones probably can be gotten on for free.

It's weird that Busoni hasn't returned the devs emails. I mean, if you look at the coins accepted, it's not like they all need to be earthshattering great coins with super high volume. They just took that asiacoin and colbert coin, for instance.

And I mean a btc bounty. IPO money could be used instead of QBC.
2385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: >>>Coins Source<<<| Comapny Share IPO | Crypto Site |SourceCoin NOW ON POLONIEX! on: April 30, 2014, 08:28:37 PM
Apologies if this has been mentioned already and I missed it, but can sourcecoins be used for anything upon the site? What purpose do they serve? Are they mostly used for signing up for a prem. membership?

Site is pretty nice overall, so don't take this as a negative posting. I am just curious as to the point to the coins and if we should hold or sell, basically. And wondering what upon the site we can use the coins for, either now or in the future.

This! Multipool and Android wallet before being bothered too much with exchanges.

I'm not so sure it has to be one or the other. Getting on a smaller exchange would probably just take an email from the dev. For something like poloniex or a larger exchange, it'd just be a bounty offer on the main page of this thread. Like 5 min. of work?

I'll admit it won't matter much if other stuff isn't done, but trying to get on another exchange won't affect multipool or android stuff in a negative way.

If it catches on at all, the advertising aspect could be its main utility.

Years ago I worked for a digital map company (softchart), who specialized in nautical maps. They eventually branched off into aeronautical maps, and one of their goals was to use advertising as a main source of revenue for the maps. It was smart to try, as businesses could list their companies right on the maps for all to see -- or I should say, whomever was flying to see.

They were a pretty badly run company, so no idea if they actually managed it, and it was around the time I left them. But it could certainly work for something like this.

But rather than rely on companies to set up their own faucets, you may wish to set them up for them. I wouldn't expect most places to even know how crypto works, so asking them to set up a faucet might be too daunting.

I think coinedupis the best place for this coin.

JP, what will you do/buy with IPO coins ? Maybe, it could be interesting to buy vote on cryptsy...

As much as I dislike saying it, he may wish to offer a bounty for poloniex.

Offer a bounty to get listed on one of the bigger exchanges. I believe I have seen poloniex claim it from other coins. Yeah, it's basically paying for a coin to get listed, and no idea if they'd even take it. But it's a lot easier than buying votes on mintpal/cryptsy, and must be cheaper.
2389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: April 30, 2014, 06:44:55 PM

I'm disappointed to say Poloniex (Busoni) has not responded to me so far, I saw that others had contacted them too. I think we may need a bit more volume to get them to put in the effort. So first step is still the Multipool for automated buying of QBC.

Although it wouldn't be my first choice (actually it's my last choice), maybe consider CoinedUp, Atomic-Trade, or Austin Global Exchange? Someone here brought up a good point that arb trading is one way to bring up volume. I know the Noble coin dev liked using the Austin exchange after CoinEx went under. They sometimes run promos for discounts on specific coin trades too. Personally I never used them, and barely used the other ones I listed. But something is better than nothing.

That's not accurate at all to say, I'm not disappearing. The reality is that the entire crypto market seems fatigued of almost every altcoin, coinmarket cap is a deserted wasteland when it comes to volume except for some top 20 coins. In terms of features, QBC is still great but there is 1 coin release a day (or more) and the market has a very short attention span. I can't possibly get merchants to accept QBC before gaining a semblance of volume on the crypto markets, otherwise they are getting a coin which they can't exchange for money, which they do need to run their business. I'm still looking into the multipool with another developer and that's the first thing that will get us some steady volume. The competition is fierce and this overload of currencies is now thinning out the herd in cryptos, a few newcomers gain attention for short amounts of time, the established leaders are gaining ground and coins which are really thinking about long term may stand a chance as well. Let me go through all the posts here and make sure I haven't missed any important discussion.

Nice to see you about again. I do suggest trying to post a bit more often, like you used to, at least until the coin's price moves up a bit. People get nervous when devs who are around all the time all of a sudden vanish.

Multipool should help. And I still suggest getting on at least one other exchange. You should post info on how you plan to handle local giveaways/distribution, as I recall you mentioning some coins would be given out to Quebec people for promo purposes. I also suggest cryptosandwich, and similar sites, to handle some giveaways.

Has Poloniex responded to you at all? Staying too long on Bittrex as a coin's main exchange can be a bit dangerous.
2391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PURE POS]Information Coin(ITC) Fair&Free distribution New thread on: April 30, 2014, 05:51:19 PM
from my experience poloniex is the leading exchange which encounters good coins first...

mintpal, cryptsy take over if poloniex is doing well

Yep. The exchange hierarchy currently seems to be something like Bittrex - Poloniex - MintPal - Cryptsy.

There is room for exchanges similar to Poloniex, in-between them and MP, as both CryptoRush and Coinex don't count anymore. It makes it hard for some coins, as it's either MintPal or nothing, after getting on Poloniex. I expect that to eventually change, just that it requires volume/votes at the moment for a coin to move up.

2392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PURE POS]Information Coin(ITC) Fair&Free distribution New thread on: April 30, 2014, 05:44:40 PM
if poloniex takes the coin it will make a good impression, but then it is up to the dev....

poloniex makes a lot of coins big, before they move to mint pal

Did you mean MintPal? It's already on Poloniex. I think it's on Bittrex too, but it's a lower volume exchange. MP is where the coin would do well, just it'd require more volume... and a lot of votes.
2393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PURE POS]Information Coin(ITC) Fair&Free distribution New thread on: April 30, 2014, 05:39:10 PM
I think part of the problem with the price is the fact there doesn't seem to be a ton of hype or news regarding the coin. It's just sort of sitting there, but not much news regarding other exchanges or uses for the coin yet.

That can easily change, and I suggest the dev try to be more proactive here just to let people know things are in the works. Coin prices slowly die off when people don't hear news, don't have any targets (like voting campaigns, marketplaces, merchants), or devs are silent regarding other coin features. The price can easily triple with just some of those things.

There is also of course the entire 'airdrop' problem, in that as people sell off, prices drop. I wouldn't think most people would sell at current prices, as there seems to be little point. I do admit I sold some of my coins (at around double the current rate), but that's just because I wanted to get into XBC a little bit, and am btc poor right now.

I think it'd help to get itc on another exchange or two, but the big boys (MP/Cryptsy) probably want to see more volume. Maybe Coined Up can be looked at next?
2394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Vote on the remaining XBC supply on: April 30, 2014, 04:20:17 AM

Those committee members are going to vote individually. They are not all working together to sway a vote, so it won't be 100 votes for one decision because they all have different opinions. The result will be spread out.

Ideally, yes. Although I don't know how much communication they do with one another, or if they will form any group decisions. My reply was in response to the previous poster who acted like the committee votes would be the one choosing the poll results.

destroying wont win. We have ~100 commitee votes for keeping around 2000 coins and destroy the rest.

No 3rd IPO will be done!

I should also add, it's not a bad decision to save some coins, and destroy the rest. I'd prefer saving a bit of a larger amount however ... besides giveaways and promotions, there are always bounties too.

I agree that the potential is enormous, but of course we'll have to wait and see if it reaches its potential. But that is all we mostly buy here anyway in cryptoland, coins based on potential.

At first I wasn't fond of the name either. Then I realized that for the general public, it may be a plus... well, plus in the sense they have some familiarity with the term bitcoin already. If the coin hits the press or gets more publicity, the name may work in its favor.

And this is where the thread derails into personal preferences and saying nearly every single coin is a scam.
2397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Vote on the remaining XBC supply on: April 30, 2014, 02:22:21 AM

there are about 15 communittee members and about 7 billion people? I even think that 10 votes is way to little for somthing that has such severe impact into the big stakeholders belongings...

I somehow doubt 7 billion people will vote in this poll.

An example... pretend the poll ends where it is now. And the committee decided they all wanted cold storage, which only 1 person so far has voted for. They could override the entire poll and basically choose whatever they want.

And in of itself, that isn't even a bad thing. Some decisions should be made by the dev + whatever coin members he trusts. I am just questioning whether it makes sense for public polls, if they can get overridden so easily. I am also thinking of future polls, not just this one -- assuming there are future public polls.

Perhaps the voting power will work out, and more regular people will vote, evening it out. I am just basing it on current numbers and the fact that you said categorically that destroy won't win due to committee voting power. It just made the entire poll seem meaningless to me.

Hmm... that sort of brings up a concern I had. If the committee holds so much sway that they can alter a vote, regardless of what regular people choose, why even have a public vote?

Not that I am against the committee idea, as it brings focus for the coin and will help get things done. I just wonder if perhaps they may hold a bit too much voting power, or why even bother with public votes, if they can just change the final outcome regardless?

I do agree that the 3rd IPO would be very problematic. I am just thinking that perhaps the 2nd IPO should have went on a bit longer, since there were so many coins leftover.

Commitee members have 10 votes to 1 vote for normal people. This is a very good solution in my opinion!

I am not sure if you understood what I meant. If committee members have 10 votes per person and can alter any poll anyway they please, why even have a public vote?

Might as well have a private polling amongst committee members then? Or less votes per committee person.

2400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Vote on the remaining XBC supply on: April 30, 2014, 01:39:46 AM
It looks like destroy shall win, but I voted for a mixture.

One problem with destroy is that it benefits big coin holders more than the small guys, or those who don't own the coin yet, so it could appear as if committee members are voting to benefit themselves, rather than the community as a whole. I'm not even saying that is the case, I just mean by appearances it may not look ideal.

Although a 3rd ipo or giveaway opens up a different can of worms, as then it could possibly devalue existing coins. Hence why I voted for a mix of options.

Save some coins for regular giveaways, social media tasks, BTT people giveaway (limit one giveaway per acct via some form of verification, IP check, etc), and bounties.

Offer a 3rd IPO with a limited number of coins. This serves a dual-purpose, as it provides some coins to those who missed the previous IPOs. And perhaps more importantly for the community, it stifles trolls/fud spreaders who cry about an unfair initial distribution. As to how to set it up so it's fair, that may be tricky. You can't just list coins at .001 again on Poloniex.

Either list a secondary coin/placeholder on Poloniex at an arbitrary price, cheaper than current prices, but not super cheap ... say at current rates, .002-.005/coin. Or offer coins through an ipo via BTT using more traditional methods (sending coins manually). If you want an even distribution, you can even put a limit on how many per person.

And destroy the rest. So say half of remaining coins are destroyed outright. For the remaining half, use them for giveaways/bounties and a partial IPO. Neither should affect the current price negatively, as the destruction of the other 1/2 would balance it out. Longterm it'd still result in a higher value of coin than you started with, perhaps with a fairer balance, and more publicity.
