2381  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos pls enable show trust rating on Bitcoin Discussion / Beinners & Help on: October 14, 2018, 06:19:40 AM
Just report those posts; they don't belong there. I wouldn't necessarily be against showing trust site-wide, but I get why theymos doesn't want to do so, and it doesn't really need to be in boards like Bitcoin Discussion and Politics. Also, we can't be responsible for every idiot who decides to give their money away and merely showing the negative/positive trust doesn't save people as we can see from the Marketplace.
2382  Other / Meta / Re: MYTHBUSTERS: Only high ranked users are rewarded with merits on: October 13, 2018, 12:41:52 PM

I was going to send you 1 Merit for this post but I checked out your post history & it’s littered with Bounty Hunting spam so I’m not going to now, sorry.

You’ll never rank up if the majority of your posts are in that shit hole of the forum. More posts like this though & you’ll rank up.

But isn't this attitude counter-productive? We're meant to be rewarding users who make decent posts and if a user makes one then that post probably should be merited. I get your logic though, and this is why I'd argue that I think we should up the requirement to ten because I think merit sources would actually be more liberal with their merits and users would also have to make a few decent posts to get the merit and not just one. When all they need is one it makes their job much easier and merit sources much harder because they don't want to give a shitposting bounty hunter the merit if that's all they need. A lot of users will probably just give up trying to make decent/great posts once they'd achieved Junior rank and I think that's a real issue. It's a bit of pain when we have to start checking user's post history just to check if they should be merited, but if the requirement is ten merit then we probably don't need to do that and can start being more liberal which benefits everyone.

I think it’d be much better if 10 Merit’s were required to rank up to Junior. I’m in a pickle here because that post is Meritable imo but I don’t want to be responsible for somebody earning money from the forum if they constantly post in Bounty threads.
If 10 was required I would definitely have Merited him.

My personal opinion is that one merit is fine for becoming a Junior and at least that is some protection for bots so those users can still be nuked, but I think Juniors should have their signatures removed completely and you only get one until you get ten merit and become a Member. Requiring one is just open to far too much abuse, and as we've seen people are reluctant to even give out one because of this. I would personally be more liberal like you if the merit requirement was higher because one merit isn't life or death and the one fluke merit doesn't give you the ability to earn.
2383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2 life sentences +40 years for The Silk Road creator (PETITION FOR CLEMENCY) SIG on: October 13, 2018, 12:21:40 PM
Theymos posted this earlier:

In the "Railroaded" series of videos, it's implied that bitcointalk.org was at one time owned by Mark Karpelès. This is wrong. Mark provided free hosting for bitcointalk.org from 2011 to 2013, which I announced publicly:
Change of hosting

Mark Karpeles is now hosting the forum's server. The forum is still owned by Sirius, as it has always been. There will be no policy changes.
I'm going to move the forum to a much faster server within the next few days. [...]
The old server was provided by MtGox. Thanks to them for supporting the forum for so long!

The new server is provided by Private Internet Access, a Bitcoin-accepting VPN service.  Thanks!

Mark never had any ownership or control over bitcointalk.org's operation.

The thread is locked so you can discuss this info in here, but is further evidence that misinformation is being spread by the 'Railroaded' series.

Also, their sentences higher than life are laughable. How can a sane person give a verdict of 2 life sentences and 40 years? After the mere 40 years in the shitholes that US prisons are Ross will be dead anyway.

Well it is silly, but what actually is a life sentence in the US? A life sentence in the UK is usually 30 years I believe, and not actually until you die. Sometimes you can get out in half of that time depending on the parole setting but many life sentences carry a 'minimum' term of 15 years and you can get out after that due to good behaviour or whatever.
2384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 229: Khabib vs McGregor Prediction and Info Thread on: October 13, 2018, 12:06:07 PM
^  It feels like a rematch between those two would be a tad too early imo.  I'd like to see McGregor redeem himself vs Tony Ferguson which could be a better match up from him stylistically.

Maybe even make McGregor vs Diaz and Khabib vs Ferguson in one card.  That would be yuuuuuge!  :0

It doesn't have to be the next big UFC match. It very likely wouldn't be this year, though maybe they could make it the big fight at the end of the year like they sometimes do. They've had big fights on Dec 30 the past two years but looks like they've both been suspended anyway or temporarily at least, but I'm sure it'll get extended. Khabib could even be stripped of the belt, but I doubt it. Conor will probably won't a lot of time to train as well, because it's probably the only one way he's got a chance. McGregor will probably do the trilogy fight with Diaz at some point and it would probably be the next best thing for him in terms of money, though it probably won't be an easy fight for him.

2386  Other / Meta / Re: Can we talk about the rampant account trading in the local forums? on: October 13, 2018, 11:25:35 AM
However, it seems that with the merit requirements, users have stopped caring and have decided to farm Jr. Member accounts. A lot of them.

People were already really just farming Juniors because that's all they needed to join bounties. To maximise profits they just created dozens of them and this was big business hence why we needed some merit requirement to stop this abuse. It's been made a little harder now but one merit still isn't much and is too easy to abuse, hence why I think we should make it ten.

And this is essentially a form of merit selling (users wait 2 to 4 weeks in this case).
I believe that the account-trading community/market isn't actually too interested in Hero/Legendary accounts (for now).

Well they don't really have a choice. 'Farming' high ranked accounts in any significant number has become practically impossible. Nobody is going to waste 1.4 years trying to farm Heroes, especially when the chances of them getting the merit is going to be incredibly difficult. The only people who will become Heroes now are those that are committed to just one or two accounts and can make great posts. Prior to the merit system any shitposter who had the time and energy could farm as many accounts as they liked because as long as you made the shitposts over time then you'd hit the rank eventually. Farming accounts industrially is out of the question now really, but shitposting with Juniors and Member ranks isn't.

2387  Other / Meta / Re: Im have been banned by a forum moderator. on: October 13, 2018, 11:10:03 AM
The OP professes ignorance of what he's done;
In this case I'm pretty sure OP knows what he did, I just don't think he knew it was a rule.  I don't think any of these people know plagiarism is banned here. ...

At first I thought all these plagiarists either had no moral qualms about what they were doing or else didn't think they would get caught, but I'm starting to come around to your perspective that they might not see anything wrong with it in the first place.

I don't think it has much to do with that, but rather that they just don't have much choice. When you can't speak English very well if at all and know little about the topics you are posting in what do you expect them to do? The money is too good here to turn down, and it's too easy to copy and paste. Greed and laziness also comes into it, but for many others they don't have much choice if they literally can't really come up with their own acceptable posts. Many actually get away with it for quite a while as well as it's hard to spot and if we didn't have as many community members looking out for this behaviour many more would be geting away with it.

Why do people like you name their accounts shit like John Berrington? Your name obviously isn't John Berrington.

The account could belong to a farmer (or bought from one). There's been a fair few farmers (some using bots and others not) that just chose 'real' random names for their usernames here. Maybe they pulled them from somewhere or used a generator but it's not that uncommon. They also might think that using a real name gives them an advantage or makes them more 'real'. I dunno. Probably not worth spending too much time thinking about the hows and whys of this though  Grin.
2388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 229: Khabib vs McGregor Prediction and Info Thread on: October 13, 2018, 11:00:01 AM
People are too optimistic for a rematch. It won't happen, mark my words. Khabib isn't about the 'money' and after what happened I doubt he will cross paths with Gregor again in his career. Things 'actually' got bad between them. This 'tension' wasn't fake for promotion. You can feel it in khabib's eyes when McChicken was talking shit.

@justspare Lol, I kinda agree but people lose interest in things overnight. I doubt "Muslims" will watch the fight if there is a rematch.

What makes you think it's about the money for him? Why wouldn't he want another opportunity to beat him? Connor has a slim chance of actually winning against him unless he gets lucky. There's obviously some real bad blood between these two now, or at least for Khabib. McGregor just says things to be inflammatory to try get inside your head and it's a good tactic and often works because it can give you an advantage and can often make your opponent lose their cool, and that's what happened when Khabib did a Cantona and jumped into the audience. Apparently Conor's trainer was taunting him during and after the fight making racial and religious slurs so that's why he did what he did. I'd like to see a rematch because the badblood might make for a more explosive fight now and who else are those guys going to fight?
There is no bad blood for McGregor. He doesn't give a fuck about Khabib, his team or what happened after the fight. Otherwise he would have participated in this mess or talked about it after the match.

He just lit the fire for business purposes, for the show. I'm sure he would have shaken hands with Khabib if Khabib hadn't behaved like a moron.

He doesn't give a fuck but yet he flew off the handle when Khabib merely cornered his teammate? That was the entire reason why he smashed up the tour bus and Conor was seemingly off his head with rage and retribution during that whole escapade. He probably would have shaken his hand after the fight because Conor usually tries to be humble in defeat (and acting like a sore loser just makes the loss worse so the best course of action is to act humble and accept defeat).

And he won't ask for a rematch, he knows he would get his ass kicked.
Right now there are excuses for his defeat (not fighting for a while) and to some he is still the good guy.
He has too much to lose getting in the cage again with Khabib.

He probably knew before the fight that he would get his ass kicked (or that it was highly probable). Same for the Mayweather fight, but Conor just cares about the payday now regardless of whether he will win or not and the biggest money he's going to get is for a rematch. Conor haters will want to see him get mauled again and they'll be hoping by much worse, and Conor fans will be hoping he can somehow beat him this time. Khabib will probably want to beat him again so a rematch makes sense, and the UFC will have a hard-on given all the drama it created and they can capitalise on that to promote it. The rematch would easily eclipse the original in interest and sales because more people will tune in to see what happens or if it all kicks off again. They'll probably have more time to promote it as well and go on a world tour for it. It just makes sense for all parties involved because the money they will be making is win-win for everyone regardless of the outcome. If Conor does miraculously win then they'll probably be a trilogy fight like they probably will be for Diaz.
2389  Economy / Reputation / Re: Confession - Zapo=aTriz. on: October 13, 2018, 10:47:12 AM
Shame. He was pretty much the only "new" campaign manager who came here and was doing what he should have been by checking and denying participants due to quality, but something didn't seem right because of that because it's such an anomaly. I even thought about leaving him positive trust because of it but glad I didn't now.

I think we should probably be more weary of 'new' campaign managers here because they're often trusted with a lot of money and I'm sure many of them will just be building up for some long con or siphon off money to their alts (as some have already been caught doing).

so we will identify scammers easier

Two:

as suggested goto coinmarketcap
and see the prices of your token
see the markets u can use,and the volumes
then choose one ,and you are ready to go

Embroiderymate has negative trust for trying to sell merit (thread is removed though):

2391  Economy / Reputation / Re: You think I am a scammer? mdayonliner's reputation on: October 13, 2018, 10:36:43 AM
There is no way to know what you would have done with that money had you been sent it...
But leaving the feedback means you knew the outcome or technically you guessed the outcome and acted without even bothering the correction I made.

No it doesn't. It means I don't trust you. When a previous ponzi promoter tries to get his hands on $100k I think that is pretty alarming and I don't trust that behaviour. Had you of been sent that sort of money I think it's highly probable you would have just ran off with it.

I withdraw the offer immediately, I sent you PM about it but you never responded.

So? That doesn't invalidate the act and wipe it from history.

2392  Other / Meta / Re: Suggested guidelines for bounty managers. @theymos pls take a look and help us. on: October 13, 2018, 10:30:18 AM
Without some basic rules it just become pure anarchy and the greedy shit all over the place and ruin it for everyone else. That's why we need some rule of law, but that doesn't mean you have to rule with an iron fist. I'd say expecting some sort of minimum standards here is in everyone's interest, especially when the forum has become largely unfit for it's true purpose.

I agree with with you. I have shared just idea. It's really not rules, but admin could chose some of them that I suggested. Or admin should make few rules or guideline himself. Something is better than nothing. This forum almost working fine because there is few rules. Even a country or a company can't run without rules. I believe there should be few rules also for bounty managers. Don't leave them free.

People seem to think that this forum is a free-for-all and anything goes and because it's a forum about bitcoin that means there's no rules because of decentralisation. Bitcoin has rules. So does this forum. We don't have to have a list of thousands of them written like a legal document but we need at least some to keep some basic order and functionality, but this forum is a pretty good example of what happens when you don't have many rules or enforce the ones you do have as people are quick to exploit that when they realise they can get away with certain things.
2393  Other / Meta / Re: What can we do to stop redundant full quotes? on: October 13, 2018, 10:26:25 AM
Automatically hiding every other one except the one you're directly quoting would be helpful. The quotes should be collapsible, like they are on some other forums and you can toggle them to see the full quote or not. I don't think it's a huge issue though but people should probably be urged to just quote the relevant part(s) (though most are probably too lazy to do that in the first place). As far as I recall and last time theymos commented on this he said quoting on the new forum software would be similar to how 4chan does it.
2394  Other / Meta / Re: Time to implement rules for bounty managers on: October 13, 2018, 07:55:18 AM
The last straw for you is their inability to spell words right? I think we should be punishing campaign managers, but not because of their illiteracy.

Theymos doesn’t believe in regulations. He refuses to participate in the creating of regulations that would even result in greater freedoms (ability to buy btc in etf form) for bitcoin holders.

This forum has rules. So does bitcoin. If you come here and spam rubbish or copy and paste then you get banned. The same should be applied to those who are paying them to do this in the first place and if we don't 'regulate' campaigns then nothing will change here as they will continue to be lazy and pay for any old spam. The forum is such a shitshow because we've done little to nothing about spam coming from campaigns. Had we done something about it years ago instead of just letting it breed then the forum wouldn't be such the eyesore it is now.

Guys, i dont know what do you think about when you say plagiarism or chief some words, maybe my english is not satisfy, i'm doing my best anyway... I found here a lot of usefull on this forum that's why i prefer bitcointalk. That topic that was found as "stolen"  may be as warn but no for as ban! Please, don't perceive that as chief, you can watch that account life time that i had spent not so much time to understand all the rules of this forum. I respect every minds of that and nowadays it is not so easy to earn the rank here. Ban for some time is will be lesson for me and for all the beginers of this forum. Thanks for attention.

Most of your posts seem to be copy and pastes.

Currently, more than 95% of all players are deprived of the opportunity to convert their gaming achievements into real money or use them when switching to another game.

If you'd have read the rules you'd know what not to do.

Why plagiarize Huh
Is it really so hard to read a thread and debate if you are interested?
You deservedly earned a ban, and do not make more such mistakes for the future ...

Read his posts in this thread. That's why he plagiarises. When you can't speak English what do we expect them to do?
2397  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source application on: October 11, 2018, 01:14:50 PM
Yes, ok, neutral by Lutpin but for merit begging and red tagged by a moderator. It looks to me like very low chances of becoming a merit source, the same way as becoming anything on this forum, like a moderator or to be added on DT. The red tag by hilariousandco is very important. Do you think someone he doesn’t trust is going to be added as a merit source?

I don’t know if that could be solved in some way, as sometimes red tags have been deleted or changed to neutral.

The feedback doesn't mean he can't be trusted to send merits, and others may even disagree with the feedback. Admittedly no scam was committed, though he did try to escrow a deal for over $100k and has promoted ponzis in the past and for me that's untrustworthy behaviour and I think there would have been a very high chance of him running away with the money if he ever secured it and that's why I left the feedback. Others, including theymos, may disagree. I haven't looked into his merit history so I can't say whether he would be a good choice or not, but merely having negative (even from me) shouldn't 100% exude you from ever being a merit source, especially if you're an active member and are regularly giving out accurate merit for noteworthy posts. I'm sure theymos is intelligent and impartial enough to take all the available evidence and make up his own mind whether he should be a merit source or not and it's only him that gets to decide who is made one or not currently.

...Why then create this thread or specify an email banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com when there are no answers?

It's a cruel hilarious joke that theymos plays on people who get banned: it gives you the illusion you can somehow be the exception among the rest of the rabble that get banned for plagiarism on a daily basis, just like the "close doors" button in an elevator or the "push to cross" button at a stoplight.

It kind of is cruel and certainly redundant either way. That message should be removed or at least edited. Perhaps listing a few of the most common bans would be more beneficial so people don't waste time creating another account in Meta or mailing the void of an unmonitored email address. I wonder how long someone has kept messaging it waiting for a response before they just gave up.

...Why then create this thread or specify an email banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com when there are no answers?

But I see no reason for a permanent ban, there must be a way to restore the profile.
It's amazing how similar these threads appealing a ban for plagiarism tend to be. The OP professes ignorance of what he's done; other users dig up examples of plagiarism; OP claims this isn't a big deal and ought to be given a second chance; users laugh as they relish the delicious schadenfreude; OP either leaves in disgust or starts calling us "dog" [sic] (and then leaves in disgust).

No less surprising that the thread also did not have an official response. I am not going to insult anyone and I see no reason to laugh. From my point of view, it is sad that I have been on the forum for more than a year, and only now I get a ban.

It's not as sad as the fact that people come here and think it's acceptable to copy and paste other's content.
2399  Other / Meta / Re: Can we talk about the rampant account trading in the local forums? on: October 11, 2018, 12:48:57 PM
Russian board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=236.0
It is absolutely flooded with account traders. This has become normalized.

It has always been normalised here. If we allow it then why wouldn't people do it? There's some serious money to be made from account farming and high-ranked accounts are worth more than ever right now especially when Hero and Legendaries are going to become very, very rare to achieve with the merit requirements. Heck, a Member account probably commands quite a bit of money now as ten merit is very difficult to get for a shitposter. The only way we can really stop or at least severely dent this activity and business is if we allow people to buy the benefits of the ranks via more donator titles (like Silver and Gold etc). I think this is something we should seriosuly look at doing because it will severely curb the account selling/farming/hacking market and stop a lot of people from getting scammed (there's probably more people scamming trying to sell non-existent accounts they don't even have as opposed to genuine sales right now), so let people buy the benefits of the ranks safely from the forum instead of that money going to some scumbag account farmer/hacker/scammer and it's then win-win for everyone (apart from the farmer/hacker/scammers).
2400  Other / Meta / Re: Top "why I should not be banned excuses" & "it is not my alt excuses". on: October 11, 2018, 12:39:03 PM
Don't forget the time someone had their whole entire "office" accounts banned: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1912475.0
I remember that one.  It's sad, but part of me thinks situations like that really do exist in poor countries where bitcointalk's potential for providing a living wage spreads like wildfire through word of mouth.

I'm sure they do, but that one was bullshit because they started the sentences with the same thing and just regurgitated the same post but reworded slightly, so they all just belonged to one person who got a bit ahead of himself. If there already isn't some sort of offices set up to farm bounties then I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they actually will be, but we're already seeing proof of it in a small scale at least with the picture you were sent of the group of people posting away. These things will naturally grow and expand like any business or industry especially when the money is too good and easy to earn. The merit system has made things a little bit more difficult for them as you now can't just create as many accounts as you want and rise them through the ranks merely over time, but they're still going to find ways around it like buying merit and trading it between themselves etc and we've already seen multiple cases of that as well.  Punishing signature campaigns obviously needs to be the next step because trash posters just shouldn't be getting paid in the first place and that's the source of the issue here.
