Great site.

Just wondering if it would be possible to add Bottlecaps??

Don't worry it might take that long for the network to build itself back up, so it might not retarget again to it's proper number until then.  LOL.

Sure is better then the multiple hour blocktimes that we had before, now it seems to be about 1 every 30 mins or so.  Hopefully after the next retarget the difficulty will be where it belongs.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [YUM] BaconBits - Makin' More Bacon! Bonus coins for every block you find! on: January 15, 2014, 11:28:22 PM
Yeah, I still can't figure out why it retargeted there.  Well hopefully the retarget will bring some life back to the coin.

baconpool is still running off what the dev said in the OP, that the retarget is every 3 hours, with 30 second block times which = a retarget every 360 blocks.  In reality it retargets every 600 blocks.  Wish he would change that OP to just a 600 retarget, or every 5 hours, if he wants to use a time, which I don't recommend considering what just happened.

Lol, that was an odd one.  The supposed retarget difficulty was supposed to be around 0.15 or something like that.  Wonder what made it retarget to 1.95?   Anyways much better.  The bacon should come in slabs again.

On a plus note, it looks like there are only 3 blocks to go before the retarget.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the pool payout so much lower than expected? on: January 15, 2014, 03:36:49 PM
Yeah, DOGE has to be the worst coin to get an estimated payout since the reward keeps changing.  It's not a solid reward like almost every coin out there.

But if you are questioning your pool, then the best/easiest thing to do is try another pool, and see if your results are better, or the same, or even worse.  Then you will know if your pool is decent.  You can always go back to your old pool.

Yeah I have lost my faith in this coin.

The coin could easily be pushed so that the retarget would have been hit.  The dev could have paid the bounties to keep the coin going.  And The dev could speak up so we know something, or just to keep the channels alive and maybe draw some new people in.  Instead, he hasn't spoken at all on the Bacon coin thread, but he is all over the USD-e thread, meaning he is here and reading the forums, but it seems he has left and is mining something else as well.

Awesome site.

Just wondering if it would be possible to add Virtex (BTC).  The website is www.cavirtex.com

This site might help you a bit.

http://coinmarketcap.com/

You can see alot of the top coins, and how many coins are in existence at the given moment.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ALT coin Stores and Services List on: January 13, 2014, 04:59:49 PM
Just wondering if you could change the listing for Apocalypse Pete's.   http://bottlecapstore.weebly.com/

We now take Bottlecaps, LTC, Cryptogenic Bullion, Doge, Digitalcoin, MegaCoin and Worldcoin.

And we now carry Steam Games, World of Tanks and World of War Planes items, as well as a variety of different cards (Some that work in the US as well)
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Apocalypse Pete's Store now open on: January 13, 2014, 04:54:21 PM
Just letting everyone know, we now are selling Steam Games.  Probably just in North America so far, as I am not 100% sure if game codes will work overseas.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [ANN] Apocalypse Pete's Store now open on: January 13, 2014, 01:36:37 AM
Apocalypse Pete's Store is now open.  We accept Bottlecaps, Litecoins, Doge, Cryptogenic Bullion, Digital Coin, World Coin and Mega Coin.

Our main merchandise at the moment is Gift cards.  Many are only available in Canada, but a lot of them can be used in Canada and the US.
Also looking into various Game items to sell.  Right now there are various packages from World of Tanks (North America Server).  If we don't have the World of Tanks package you want, just ask and I should be able to accommodate you.  If there are any other video games with micro transactions that can be gifted to peoples accounts, let me know and I will add them.  Will also be adding Steam games in the near future.

Look forward to hearing from you.

PS:  The site is pretty much in Beta atm.  Just trying to get a bit of economy flowing though a few coins, and not doing this to make much money.  As sales come in, I will use the cash to improve the site, and possibly carry gift cards on hand so I can cut down costs.

The current address is http://bottlecapstore.weebly.com/

Also want to add, if you want me to accept any other coins, feel free to ask.  If they are on Cryptsy, I will look them up and see if they have much volume to trade them out.

The retarget is supposedly 600 now.  Seems the Dev made a mathematical error when he said 3 hour retarget with 30 second blocks, which would be a retarget every 360 blocks, and not every 600.  So the retarget should happen at 6000 now.  (Crosses fingers).  I really wish the Dev would speak up a bit more here.  That's not a good sign when things start happening, like a bad difficulty retarget or odd wallet behavior (trying to download from a chain with 496272 blocks???)   I hope we hear more from him in the future.  A silent developer in this cut throat Crypto atmosphere is a deathwish.  Especially when they advertise that they have an experienced team of Developers, and so far none of them are talking.

Just wondering, where is the thread where you announce that you found a block for the 50 coin reward, as I just found one  Smiley
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own any altcoins? Why? what for? on: January 12, 2014, 06:03:48 AM
I like to dabble in many.  And a lot of them not for profits, but because they are fun, or silly.  I have Federation Credits, which I will probably never sell, but just so I can tell my Trekkie friends I have Federation Credits, and they don't yet I am not a Trekkie.   I really like Bottlecaps, just the name and the Fallout ties.  I have never actually sold my Bottlecaps either.  I just like to have a small stash, incase I need them after the apocalypse  Smiley.  I also now am a supporter of Baconbits, or the Bacon coin, for no other reason than it has Bacon on it.  And I am more than likely going to mine Noodly Appendage coin, because the slogan "He boiled for our sins" actually had me laughing.

Aside from that, my main coin is LTC, but I also dabble in WDC, MegaCoin, Cryptogenic Bullion, DigitalCoin and a few others.

I like Altcoins, because I honestly think BTC doesn't have what it will take to actually become the currency for the world.  It has to many flaws.  I don't think the alts atm have what it would take to complete the task either, but supporting the alts though supports new developers that may one day bring something totally new to the table that could make it the crypto to take over for fiat.

I also support BTC,  It is the huge frontrunner, and will be the coin that pushes further and further into the mainstream opening up the doors for the entire idea of a cryptocurrency becoming a mainstream currency, and I believe it will one day many years from now be the currency accepted in place of Paypal for Ebay and most other internet sites.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Profitability dropping on: January 09, 2014, 06:40:34 PM
Well that all depends, and it's anybody's guess, but there is no answer to that.  Take for example Bitcoins.  For quite some time the profitability was decent after it became established.  Then ASIC's came into play, and the difficulty rose to such an extent that the money made is alot less then the cost of electricity.  Right now if you were to mine Bitcoin with a GPU, it would actually cost you to mine it.

Most SHA-256 coins are being run by ASIC's now days so I wouldn't suggest you mining any of these.  Now when you look at Scrypt coins.  There currently are no ASIC's, and there are hundreds of different coins.  Mining with a GPU "should" be profitable.  But it still costs you electricity to mine, and the value of many coins are so low that they might already cost you in order to mine them.  At anytime the number of miners could grow to a point where there are no longer any profits to be made, coin prices could drop, or ASIC's could come out at any time (They claim about a 2014 Q3 release).  After this it is entirely possible that a card/cards would stop making more than they cost to run.

I know you are new here.  Not sure how long you looked at the history of Scrypt coins.  But not more then 2 months ago, possibly 3 (I don't remember the exact date), LTC was trading at the $2 range.  Most of the other alt scrypt coins were trading below a penny a piece (Some were worth a few cents, and the exceptions were worth over the $1 mark.  If you look at the price history there have been multiple price jumps then sudden price collapses.  It is entirely possible that the coins could go back to being worth less than a cent, and that LTC could go back to the $2 mark or less

If the question is "Is it safe to go big into mining?", and buy a bunch of Video cards, the only advice anyone can give you is DON'T GO BIGGER THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE.  If the question is will your video card print money til the end of time, I would say no.
