241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCC still alive on: November 05, 2017, 05:38:54 PM
Yes i was talking about Bitcoin Cash , which has 2 symbols AFAIK : BCC or BCH , right?

For example on Bittrex and Yobit they use BCC to refer to Bitcoin Cash: https://yobit.net/en/trade/BCC/BTC

But BCC can be confused with Bitconnect ...  Huh

242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCC still alive on: November 05, 2017, 01:38:12 PM
Why is that BCC price is resisting so much time at such a high value ?

I thought that a few days after 1st August everybody would have dumped it to make it go down as low as $0.01... but now it's still worth hundreds of $

BCC does not have marketing, does not even have a decent forum !

The only one i found is this http://bccforums.net/index.php
and it does not even work properly

Maybe the people buy and hold BCC because they believe that bitcoin may have scaling issues in the near future and everybody would switch to BCC.
Most people are not technical though, so they may not be aware of that and they only trust BTC which is the real known "VIP" of the currencies.
Common people don't even know what Litecoin or ETH are, so...

And also, now we have B2C as an alternative for an eventual migration when BTC network will have issues, so it's gonna be tough for BCC
243  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Shameless Bittrex fee 0.001 BTC (= 7$ or 6€) on: November 02, 2017, 12:56:25 PM
Mostly exchanges have similar bitcoin withdrawal fees in range betwen 0.0008-0.0015 btc. And only few exchanges like Poloniex still have low fees. I don't think it's due to taxes and regulations. As I remember, they increased withdrawal fees when bitcoin transactions was extremely expensive, may half a year ago. And these exchanges probably don't want to be used as bitcoin wallets. People are "forced" to keep money on that exchange and trade here, instead of moving funds somewhere else and paying high fee.

You mean that this problem applies only to BTC due to high network fees.

Then for other crypto like LTC , ETH should not be a problem.
Anyone tried with other crypto ?
244  Economy / Exchanges / Shameless Bittrex fee 0.001 BTC (= 7$ or 6€) on: November 02, 2017, 11:23:05 AM
What a shame.

Today i've made a 0.013 BTC withdrawal from Bittrex and they held 0.001 BTC for themselves.

And many exchanges are following this trend now.
Maybe due to the huge taxes they pay for being regulated?

F*ck regulation and f*ck the gov then.

Now tell me if it does make sense to charge you 6-7 $ for a single transfer when i can send a traditional bank transfer for less than one third of that money.
Are we going backwards now?

It's time that someone opens a serious exchange abroad somewhere that is not subject to taxes, so that exchange fees can be kept low and people are more encouraged to use them.

Or we must find an alternative.
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: October 26, 2017, 07:16:26 AM
For those who grasp CUDA programming.

This CUDA project is running 256 threads per block , right?

If they were just 1 thread per block, would the result of the computation still be correct?
So 256 is just for performance or is also a requirement for ccminer to correctly do its job?

Thanks
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ccminer 2.2.2 - opensource - GPL (tpruvot) on: October 26, 2017, 06:02:27 AM
For the developers,
just curious about one aspect.

You have setup CUDA threads to be 256 threads per block.

If they were just 1 thread per block, would the result of the computation still be correct?
So 256 is just for performance or is also a requirement for ccminer to correctly do its job?

Thanks

https://geens.com/ could be used for this.

Quote
Private document storage is the backbone of the Geens platform. It can be compared to Dropbox or Google Drive, but Geens has a higher level of privacy.

Because of the end-to-end encryption, the unencrypted data never leaves the user's device. It is first encrypted on the user's side and only then is sent to the Geens servers.

High security standards guarantee that even in the worst case scenario, there are practically no chances to decrypt and steal Geens user's data. More about this in our FAQ.

Geens is user friendly, intuitive and simple. Using the floating cards interface, users can work with their documents directly on Geens. They can also securely share files.

Geens is GDPR compliant.

Blockchain timestamping services

Geens encrypted document storage is connected to the Ethereum blockchain. The blockchain as a technology is immutable and incorruptible.

Geens users can timestamp their documents on the blockchain without revealing their document's content or their own identities.

Typical use cases of document timestamping: to
protect copyrights, unique ideas or patents, to prove that the document was signed prior to a specific date, to acknowledge ownership, for virtual IDs and so on. Blockchain timestamps can be used as legal evidences in courts around the globe.

Some Geens users timestamp their files while other users work as legal assistants, consultants or validators and receive GEE tokens in return for their services.

I have quickly read their homepage.
They talk about "Geen servers" where your encrypted docs would be uploaded.

Well.. if the docs are going to be Wikileaks style, those centralized servers are easily going to be seized by the big guys..

That makes Geen useless for real journalism purposes
True decentralization is the minimum requirement here

What's going to happen when the total DMD coin supply ends?
There will be no POS rewards anymore, right?

Also, i've received a few POS rewards but they cannot be spent.
How long i need to wait before i can spend those coins ?

Bought at $65 like 2 weeks ago.
Who knows if it will be there again ..
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government regulation of bitcoin on: September 27, 2017, 11:00:24 PM

BTC being regulated means you pay the same taxes as you do with FIAT.
And the gov would know all the purchases you make, as it happens when you pay with bank transfer, debit/credit card, paypal.

So there would be no point at using BTC anymore!!
It has been designed as a decentralized currency to avoid exactly that.

So in my POV regulation would be very desruptive towards bitcoin.

Also, if the gov is technically able to control/regulate/block the BTC network, it means it is not truly decentralized.

I fear this is the case, due to the initial network connection process being a single centralized point of failure of Bitcoin and all crypto.

I.E. the BTC client must connect to a known IRC channel to find the nodes of the network.
This is the same problem eMule and other P2P file sharing applications had in the past.
The P2P technology of BTC is similar.

This weakness is easily exploitable by the gov: they can eventually seize those particular IRC channels and Bitcoin would stop to work.
So i hope a solution will be found to this crucial issue  of the BTC infrastructure.

One thing is if a file sharing app has this issue, but another thing is when people's money is involved!
The gov is motivated to exploit vulnerabilities like that in this case, while they closed an eye on eMule which was just for files.

251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ⚡ Electroneum ⚡ Token Sale Sept 14th Mobile Mining Crypto Coin on: September 26, 2017, 10:30:38 PM
Hello,
the 21st September i sent my ETH deposit to the address 0xCA3633109d33503B12Cc6f7A9bF859a98f533De3
but it is still pending on my Electroneum Dashboard and i've not received my ETN.

Why ?

---
Requested Transaction
Your Ethereum transaction of 0.0208 ETH made on Thursday 21 September 2017 is currently pending
--

On Etherscan it shows that address has the ETH in it.

Have you pushed the "Transfer confirmed" button on the Electroneum website?

Yes i did.

And a friend of mine had the same issue, he deposited the same amount as me the same day to 0xf8E2912F81013da5A0c9E16550A413e12bcda221
but until yesterday his ETN deposit was still Pending.
Now i don't know if it's confirmed but i'll ask.

Please can you confirm manually?
In the Requested Transactions section there is not even a button to confirm that myself.

P.S. The only thing that comes to my mind is... we have purchased the ETH from Bitstamp and sent them from there directly to your ETH addresses.
Was that bad ? Is that the reason why your system did not detect the transaction ?

Actually in Bitstamp there was a warning that suggests it's better not to send coins to ICO addresses. But without an explanation why.
I wonder how an "ICO" address is different than any normal address after all ??

You must go back to to the Electromeum website and hit "transfer confirmed"

https://youtu.be/390SGZz0p6c

Just like this guy did around the 13:00 minute mark

I did it once and i have done it again now.

I have chosen to buy Electroneum with 0.0208 ETH ( screenshot https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ao4pRXNsgcpfi0aTz_xG7tQe0t2K )

After i clicked on Buy Electroneum With Ethereum i have clicked on the Transfer Confirmed button and then the site showed me this:  https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ao4pRXNsgcpfi0Up4TaeCYUCWVou

Didn't work.... Sad

Hi mate.

I think you need to contact support on this site: https://electroneum.zendesk.com/hc
Sorry to hear about it not working, i am sure the Devs will be able to sort it out and help you! Fingers crossed for solving the issue fast Smiley

They solved that manually.
Thanks!
Hope this currency will skyrocket and prosper

Now it is active.
I don't understand why yesterday and the whole last night it wasn't for all the time .

Now i have just restarted and unlocked the wallet with my password and i have waited some time... and magically the staking is active.

Strange..
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ¤ DMD Diamond 3.0 | Scarce ¤ Valuable ¤ Secure | PoS 3.0 | Masternodes 65% on: September 19, 2017, 05:19:32 PM
I have 26.39 DMD and i've started the wallet with -staking=1 but the staking is still not active.

Why?

If you add this line in the file diamond.conf it should look like as
Code:
staking=1
but in the basic settings, you can and no add this line to the file dimond.conf and your wallet will still have POS minting.

When i first run the wallet i did not change the settings, and the issue was still there.
Without specifying staking=1  my staking is not active.
After specifying it both from the command line and diamond.conf, it is still not active.
These are the contents of my diamong.conf:
Code:
staking=1

And this is my debug.log file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ao4pRXNsgcpfimXILp4JsCVCMm7V

Is there some dev that can check it out please?

Maybe i must run it as a masternode??

258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: About of DiamondCoin (DMD) on: September 18, 2017, 10:50:47 PM
I feel there's lack of clarity on some details even on their official site.

They don't say what is the reward shrinking schedule , i.e. how much the interest rates decrease as years pass.
It started at 25% and now it's at 12.5% apparently after 3 years this coin is out, right?
So it halves every 3 years ?

Also they don't say how much the reward changes if your wallet goes offline every now and then.
It's just stated that you have to keep it online, so it means that if my network connection goes down for 1 minute i lose all my interest or just a bit? And how much?

259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China will completely ban bitcoin on: September 18, 2017, 08:38:22 PM
I do not think this ban will last for a long time, because they will see that the front of the illegal people has opened, and if they are going to ban again, Japan is moving on this very much.
may be re-adopted by china a few months ahead. they just want to reconstruct the circulation of bitocin. thus rebuilding bitcoin from scratch is one way they do. it's going to be painful in the beginning, but I think we'll get an incredible increase in bitcoin development in the future.

I think what you say is absolutely right also China technically can not ban the Bitcoin network, it is technically not possible, but they can ban mining, this ban is not very important.

They can ban BTC and it's technically easy.
BTC clients connect to the P2P network in a centralized way ( just bootstrapping from a known list of IPs, which they used to download from a known IRC channel ).

It's a single point of failure and China has the resources to block it.

I am very disappointed about cryptos being so easily attackable. They have been advertised as decentralised but they aren't, if a governement can block them with a stupid IP ban.
This IMHO
