So, does anyone know who decided to buy: China, or the West?

it must have been China, we would be at 50$ without anyway  Roll Eyes

What do you think about ltc/btc?

Buy with both hands or wait a couple more day?

I knew it would go down, I didn't know it would go down exactly then.

I first bought at $14 after the peak and mtgox fiasco, and sat with 85% loss for a little over a year while it went down to $2. You know, it was worth it Smiley Even though I lost hope at one point - at $2 - and that's when it started growing back Smiley

You need not feel sorry for me, my average buy-in price is much, much lower than my first buy-in price, and I am very comfortable right now. I would be, even at 100. Actually, at 100 I would probably get loans to invest 10 times my initial investment.

I knew it would go down, I didn't know it would go down exactly then. In retrospect, I realize it was actually quite obvious - the fear of losing "the moon" was simply too great, so I "panic" bought. Lesson learned, when this kind of panic hits, you MUST do the opposite of what you feel.

And yes. I don't mind losing money if I learn something valuable that will help me earn many times more in the future. And I would definitely rather lose money over losing bitcoin.

One of the best lessons that I've learned trading Bitcoin is never go full fiat. You can go 50%, 65%, 80%, but just don't go full fiat. The reason is simple: considering that 99% of the people here (and especially the stupid trolls) are actually medium/long term bulls that know bitcoin is currently undervalued, the pain of completely missing out on a rally is by far worse than seeing your "USD net worth" significantly decrease. I sure hope you've invested only what you can afford to lose.

I'll give you my example: I've bought all in, in december at average price of 585, and then proceeded to sell everything at 670. Even though the price was going up I knew (100% sure even though everyone was posting trains, rockets, boats, astronauts and what not) that the correction couldn't be over so soon. So I waited, and waited… and waited, and waited. Until one day I just couldn't watch bitcoin go up anymore with me being all out. So I bought, and luckily, knowing it would go down, I did so only with a fraction of my funds. It's easy to see that I bought at 985, literally moments before it completely reversed. Moments, not even minutes, fully aware of what was going on. But once I did buy, I felt relieved and after that I managed to continue trading considerably more efficiently, lowering my buy-in average considerably below my initial one.

TL DR: the current prices are just too good not to make a long-term investment, be it even 10% of your funds. Don't trade with everything, you might win, but it could drive you crazy as well. Hedge. Respect the stop loss.

Its like the sell function on Houbi has been turned off.

Thinks. This reminded me to check the Stoch RSI. I forgot about that nifty feature.

My biggest question is this: who is going to sell if they can no longer short? Are people actually still on the exchange that are going to want their money out in the form of fiat? I can see people leaving the exchanges by removing their bitcoin. But are people in China going to permanently leave bitcoin, sell and take their fiat away, who have not already done so?

And will new mined coins still go to the Chinese exchanges if its difficult to withdrawal?
You have to keep in mind that the vast majority of Chinese bitcoin traders are professional shadow currency traders and market makers - they are not bitcoiners. They do not want a long term investment - they want to find somewhere else where they can do their HFT, run their bots, and such.

And you know this… how exactly? It makes no sense whatsoever. The ones that are professional traders and are not interested in owning bitcoin have left the ecosystem at much higher prices. Why would they risk losing coins, having fiat stuck, or even being outlawed in a market where volatility is contracting? Traders left on the exchanges are uberbulls trying to increase their btc holdings up to the last moment possible.

I am an EW noob and don't know how to chart, but to me it looks like rynindaclem's 1/3 chart is still valid.

I am talking about this one:

I have tried to contact him around 10 days ago, but the same answer. He doesn't seem the scamming type but he could and should inform us about what's going on.

Don't worry guys, I've just bought a little bit. This can mean only one thing.
249  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 24, 2014, 11:23:04 AM
I just thinking to buy more machines. If that graph really goes down and with more difficulty, did calculate in bitcoinwisdom, its never ROI. 1 TH with price almost 3500 USD (include shipment and tax). How the hell people still buy more machines ?

And why its goes down ? I dont see any bad news, and china's schedule for Global Bitcoin Summit 2014 in Beijing is coming up...

Because there is a small group of people with a lot of coins who want to take us down.
It can't be more obvious. The market actually wants to go up. But every single time we go up a bit there is a big dump. Pure manipulation.
I have no idea who these people are. I'm not into conspiracies but it stinks.

Patience. If this is actually happening behind the curtains, the effect on the market will be like the contracting of a coil. Fireworks in the making.

Watching net worth go up and down like that is just the most fun I've had in front of the monitor for a good while.
251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Survey time! Was 340 the final bottom? on: April 12, 2014, 04:27:36 PM
Interesting poll results, especially when you know that the majority is always wrong...
Keep in mind that this is a bitcoin forum. People are generally bullish on bitcoin here. Imagine the same poll on yahoo.finance for example. Do you think we get the same results?

How does surveying people who are not invested in bitcoin help the thread's cause?

That being said, I think the results are indeed a bit skewed, no matter what, since everyone here is a long-term bitbull.

In retrospect of the april bubble, we can notice how the volume peaked during the reversal, and then subsequently decreased as time went by. If we factor in that a lot of people have lost confidence in exchanges, and that by now, most of the weak hands have been shaken off their coins, I simply don't see how we could have days with more than 100kBTC traded on stamp or btc-e anymore, at least for the short-term.

Would it not be nice if the 500B dumper would suddenly find himself out of a rally to 500? Wink

The longer and fiercer this downtrend is, and the more suffering we have to endure over the next period of time, the more glorious will the next uptrend be for those of us that try to understand bitcoin. Fuck the moon, that's underachieving in a nutshell.

I have a simple method to fight the urge to sell. I keep buying.
255  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 11, 2014, 08:09:46 AM
This is just like the gox downtrend. Once day something concrete and obvious happens to show everyone gox is in trouble.  The next day some piece of news comes out where some guy says everything is ok at gox. And it goes up and down and on and on with everyone in denial until finally gox just closes. I cannot wait till Huobi is simply closed, and there is no more debate about it.

I agree completely. And I think that will be a hell of a bullish day. Maybe then the market will finally realize that the chinese actually hold/trade at most a quarter of the volume presented by the exchanges. Realistically, way less than that, maybe a 10th.
256  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: April 10, 2014, 03:53:51 PM
Wall on stamp pulled. Down we go.
Wat? It was eated! One >2000 dump on Stamp! Though me have bad eyes but even this couldn't go through unnoticed Smiley

2500B sell order, yes.

Would it also be life-changing for you if we don´t get a new bubble and instead fall down to <100$ ?

Many others share the belief that the Bitcoin Economy has a binary distribution with regard to probability of success. Either Bitcoin entirely replaces the existing legacy, pre-internet financial infrastructure, or it entirely fails to do so. Fortunately, if bitcoin prices go to zero, it would not be a life changing event for me. Rather I would simply commit all my freed up time to my research.

For me Bitcoin is not the end, but the best means to an end.

This is exactly where I stand too. Bitcoin is the best means which could enable me to follow my dream. If it can't, I'll just have to find a different solution.

We seem to keep bouncing down from the $450 ceiling. I'm going to reserve any declarations of bullishness until we get through that

Please update us.

I am seriously considering putting you in the same category as fonzie, igorr and mah87.
