61  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: April 11, 2017, 05:17:38 PM
Funny you say I'm so sure of to da moon when I never called for ATHs; my entire point during my last posts was based on Afrikoin's 100% certainty that $800 will be retested, with the backing of "Vinny Lingham indicator". He even advised people not to buy because the market will go back down.

Regarding analysis, I did want to post a chart at one point but the thread was locked so I completely forgot. One doesn't need very much analysis if he just looks at the chart and sees what the candles show, instead of seeing what he wants to believe is true.

A bull market doesn't offer many chances to buy low, just like a bear market doesn't offer many chances to sell high. If you can sell "high" around the same price, repeatedly, thinking that it's a good sell, it's probably not.

edit: what's Vinny's integrity got to do with anything? My remark was based on his tweet from which I understood that he's upset (or better put, butt hurt) that people are buying on Bfx while he thinks the situation is similar to Mt Gox, basically arguing with the market.

Oh boy, now Vinny Lingham is acting like a child.

When on the wrong side of the market, one keeps trying to find reasons or excuses why he might be right. That's how losses just snowball away...

One needs a set of* big balls to admit he's wrong and revert his position, but I suspect that's not the case Wink

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we're still over $1200... currently $1222USD (Bitcoinaverage).

That's plenty of consolidation for now. Let's start the next leg up.  Cool

You're just in time Wink

Meuh6879, how about... "Nope!".

Still, there are bears lurking around who deny the existence of the uptrend and/or the bull market. First, we need to get rid of them completely, then enjoy going up on their money, then get the new bag holders coming in for our precious coins. Unless we start a very swift correction back below $800, which gets less and less likely by the day, I assume sunny days lie ahead of us.

Has the ~1k BTC wall on Bitstamp been eaten or has it been withdrawn? Has anyone managed to catch that one? I had some work to do and missed the price breaking $1200. This trend seems extremely bullish even with North Korea aka. Jihan practically holding the network hostage.

Apparently, 2 networks Sad

How anyone with half a brain can be on this guy's side is beyond my reach.

Afrikoin,

what are the chances we could retest heights and establish triple top pattern?

It would still be in line with eventual retest of 850, respecting Finabocci. Is it possible?

I am using Okcoin charts by the way, chinese exchanges are disproportionally undervalued right now.

EDIT: In the case of triple top, upper line for Chinese should be at around 8250 CNY/Bitcoin.

There is no such thing as a triple top/bottom.

Litecoin hashrate dropped ~20%, which I think explains the drop in the SegWit signaling:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty

They were able to move the price up by 200+% and the hashrate is up less then 30%.

So they are building a base of miners are profitable at the higher price thus encouraging signaling SegWit. Presumably that 20% hashrate will be turned back on when necessary to push the activation over 75%.

It is quite probable the Chinamen are simply manipulating the market and delaying SegWit on Litecoin in order to maximize their ability to profit on price manipulation. They can also use these resources gained from manipulation to buy more hashrate to signal for SegWit.

It is too much obfuscated to figure out. Bottom line is Bitcoin won't get scaling. Litecoin is poised to get scaling.

I usually check here https://www.litecoinpool.org/pools for each pool's hash rate and percentage. You are right, in the past few days total network hash rate went down quite a bit, but there's also something else that is interesting: antpool used to have a maximum 4% of the hash rate (somewhere below 100 GH/s), and now they've pushed to 8.8% (around 230 GH/s). Your theory is that they (Jihan and co) will not try to block segwit on LTC but their actions speak the opposite, at least until now. My take is that they are playing with fire and might get burned sooner than they expect.

I also considered your proposition that some of the chinese miners are purposely delaying signalling segwit in order to accumulate at lowest prices possible and thus maximize their profit in the forth coming pump. Actually, I don't see why they wouldn't do this.

WRT LTC, any reason you would think 3 layers of hard support would not hold?

So... back at $200 a 1000 btc order was a wall because it was worth $200k, but now, when it's worth $1.2m it's not a wall?

Going by this logic, 5 years ago, a 100 btc order was a wall, because it was worth $1000?

Makes sense...

It doesn't matter how much does it worth today. What does matter is what % of existing bitcoins does it represent.

Definitely makes sense!

The higher the price goes, the more distributed the coins will be, the less chance that someone is willing to assume the counter party risk of holding thousands of coins on an exchange. Thus, if we're lucky, 5 years from now, 100 btc will be a wall, not 10000 btc :/

It would cost them if some bigger whale came and ate their order whole, before taking the price considerably higher. But I suspect a lot of times these market makers have some sort of inside information from the exchanges wrt potential heavy buyers.

very interesting about the walls. i am no expert but i usually see these types of walls be placed deep (under other orders). so if this is true that these walls are placed as "a mental barrier" then that explains it, you can easily use a bot to watch the market and cancel the order and place it deeper if you see some movement.(?)

Of course, that's what they do. It's obvious especially if you observe altcoin markets, where price moves faster. My guess is that the entity holding the wall is quite confident that there is nobody able to swallow him in one bite so he keeps the wall close to the spot price.

If you think about it, if someone really wants to sell, they would scale their orders to make it almost impossible to know how much they've parted with. Having such a wall only makes sense when there's a lot of liquidity coming at the market and they want out fast, taking advantage of the market's appetite. Most of the times, heavy players need to get out of their positions when the market offers them the chance, not when they would like to.
74  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 08, 2017, 08:26:14 AM
The wall at $1200 is about 1000 BTC.

Huge walls like that tend to be manipulation in the direction of the wall.

So they want to lower the price. Must be the altcoin whales.

They want to place a mental barrier for people looking to buy and maybe scare some others into selling.

Walls are never resistance points, they're just fun to look at.

I'm starting to think anonymint might be my alter ego, seeing how he basically posts exactly my thoughts wrt price speculation. Can't be true though, for he is much smarter than me; does this make me his alter ego Huh
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: April 07, 2017, 09:08:15 PM
doesnt matter who is right or wrong. All this is bad for price

You're proven right on a daily basis Huh

At what price will you admit to have been wrong, if any?

Wishful thinkers are never wrong. They can always dream.

I guess this one failed to stock up when the price recently dipped below $1000, perhaps for the last time.

Guess so too. During a bear market, it's the bulls who are greedy, not wanting to sell their coins, *hoping* for higher prices. During bull periods, it's the bears who are delusional and can't buy a 34% price discount from the top.

I know the price at which I'm no longer bullish, surely bears have to have their mental stop loss too, right?

"Thumbs Up" if you bought at $200 and now are just sitting with popcorn and waiting to get free BTU altcoins.

 Cool Cool

Amen. I won't even dump my BTU altcoins initially. I expect Roger "the president" Ver to attempt a pump first.
79  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 15, 2017, 05:09:52 PM
My eye-balled target for btc dominance is ~70% before making a strong recovery. Timing is difficult but buying alts during bitcoin's calmness sounds like a good plan.

Once btc starts moving again, I expect alts to go back down.
80  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 13, 2017, 05:33:15 PM
Yes yes ETF amazing recovery etc etc blablabla. Thats not the point. Why are the shitty altcoins pumping like hell and we are stagnating and losing 5 % marketcap ? And volume is really low.

Imagine the walls we'll observe when that value comes back into Bitcoin.

BTC doesn't have a catalyst to go higher right now so people see a stable BTC price and will go into altcoins. Hence the pump. after the pump i assume money will go into LEGIT projects. BTC should be flat next few months

The only thing bitcoin needs in order to go higher is more buyers. And bottom sellers.

So, who sold the bottom?
