241  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTCsurveys.com — Take Surveys & Earn Bitcoin on: January 07, 2020, 10:36:10 AM
After testing it here are my thoughts:
- zip code is the only manual imput data that "tracks" user location and seems to only accept usa zip code
- could not take part in 75% of surveys because I did not fit in the wanted category based on the few calibration questions (work in multi national company, have some odd disease etc)
- there is nowhere to manually mention the country I am from and all surveys done so far were for USA (I don't have Target store, Walmart etc in my country) and perhaps not knowing what to pick I always got the smaller end of the stick. Survey paid 150 - 3500 sat and received 150 everytime.

I guess all fine if you are frim US but not so much for the other 52

Good Luck!
242  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Twetch.app - The Interface to Bitcoin; Bitcoin's First Killer App on: January 06, 2020, 11:54:30 PM
https://twetch.app/

Great project, could see this being very big! Essentially a Twitter onchain!

Plase move to Service Discussion altcoins first of all. You are not developing anything.
A twitter clone made by CSW to promote BSV and "earn for your posts" does not even come close to any sort of killer app. Crypto kitties had more potential (that's why it clogged much of the network in the goos old days).
Sorry to say but I don't see it! Can you please explain why you think that?
243  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTCsurveys.com — Take Surveys & Earn Bitcoin on: January 06, 2020, 09:24:54 PM
After clicking on "get started" I can't pass question 3... zip code.
My country is on the list (not USA) but when I enter the zip code gives this error "We cannot locate that postal code. We have surveys available in United States so please enter a postal code near your location.". It only knows US zip codes ?
I use Opera browser with built-in VPN and currently on a European IP.
Any suggestions ?
244  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTCsurveys.com — Take Surveys & Earn Bitcoin on: January 06, 2020, 07:12:15 PM
My country is on the list so I guess I could participate. Will open an account to test it later. Could you also mention some topics for the surveys, so I can know what to expect. Personal info, services used.. a few randon examples is you don't mind. GL with this Smiley
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker Publishes Private Key, But No One Can Steal His ETH on: January 06, 2020, 06:08:39 PM
This wasn't a new cases of scam tactics of hackers, although this certain scenario of exposing private keys was barely published towards many people that doesn't mean you can get those funds. Main reason to that was due to bot program which steals your eth gas after sending the wallet address. I myself was already a victim on this trap, gladly I only send 0.01 eth which isn't a big deal on that time. Spreading this information can help everyone be very careful when certain situations tried to catch their attention.

Did not realise the full extent of this "trick" initially
Got reading a bit more and found this: https://medium.com/@yenthanh/token-honey-pot-scam-on-ethereum-network-when-hacker-scam-hacker-1b3118a46495
Goes to show that anything can be used for the wrong purpose...
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker Publishes Private Key, But No One Can Steal His ETH on: January 06, 2020, 04:08:52 PM
Initially I assumed it was a proof of concept, ingenious and also fairly expensive way to secure funds. Did not see any evil side. Can you please explain how this would be used to trick someone? besides a thief that tries to empty the wallet...

Since ETH blocks are at 12 seconds intervals I assume that's why it works on Ethereum network. Maybe you tried with another coin. Just guessing ...

251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Hacker Publishes Private Key, But No One Can Steal His ETH on: January 06, 2020, 12:03:05 PM
Seems a guy, Robert Forster, a some kind of hacker published his private key for a wallet of his with 1ETH balance.  Someone else tried to withdraw but still was not able to ...

Forster used something called RBF ( Replace by Fee).
He signed a transaction but keep it offline, not informing the network about that. Then with the use of a listening node "watched" his wallet for any activity and when someone would try to move the funds he would sent the previous signed transaction to the network and since it would have higher fees it would replace the initial one and get propagated faster within the network.

Source link: https://www.trustnodes.com/2020/01/04/hacker-publishes-private-key-but-no-one-can-steal-his-eth

The process sounds pretty simple and straightforward and definitely used as proof of concept.
The thing that grinds my gears is that for the signed transaction he seems to have added a fee equal to the wallet balance (at least from what I understood, to make it not profitable at all for any thief). And for any attempt to withdraw his funds he would "lose" the amount as fees for miners.

252  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] Account Lega46141 on: January 04, 2020, 09:46:35 PM
It seems it is the other way around. If you answer correct the acc gets locked and you need to email and prove it is your acc. Not sure what the logic is but... it is what it is  Grin

This is a Public Service Announcement:

If you lose your password, DO NOT USE THE SECRET QUESTION TO RECOVER THE ACCOUNT. It will result in your account being locked. Please use the email recovery option to recover the account.
The reason that the accounts are locked is because the May 2015 hack leaked Bitcointalk's database which did not securely secure the Secret Question and Answer. To prevent people from guessing the answers, theymos made it so that accounts that are recovered using the secret question are automatically locked when the option is attempted. This is to prevent hackers who may be able to guess the answers from the leaked database.

If you have had your account locked, to recover it, please send and email to the email displayed on your screen when you try to login. You can also create a new account and pm both theymos and badbear. In the email and PM, to prove your identity, You MUST sign a message with a bitcoin address that you have posted previously, at least 2 months prior. Please be patient. Theymos and BadBear are busy people. Your email or pm may become lost among all of the other stuff that they have to do. You should resent your email and pm once a week so that they will see it and get around to you. If you need help signing a message, check this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

If you haven't lost your password yet or you have regained access to the account, don't set the secret question, it can be a hassle. Make sure that you have the email set to an email address that you can access. That will make everything so much easier and will not require the long recovery process.

If you also have some examples please do!
254  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] Account Lega46141 on: January 04, 2020, 09:21:29 PM
Did you try to reset via secret question? What that does is blocks your account and you need to send an email to unblock
255  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ecommerce Plugin on: January 03, 2020, 01:41:46 AM
I would like a marketplace where people can buy and sell stuff like an ebay type add on without the bidding option but a bidding option would be kind of a cool add on as well now that i think of it. Does woo commerce offer member selling as well?
Bidding part really sounds interesting. It would work if you integrate some sort of signed message from the wallet, so you can confirm the user who has access to the wallet has some balance. Or in order to place bid you would need to charge them a simbolic fee (1000 sat) to be able to bid and the users that do not win would get 999 sats back. It is a business after all :p
Good luck with the project if you're really serious on starting.
256  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ecommerce Plugin on: January 02, 2020, 12:11:49 PM
Well i think we would need a like paypal payment processor...
Just to be clear so I understand what you want to do... do you want to add crypto as form of payment? Or want to use fiat? Because OmegaStarScream had a few valid ideas but did not see any reaction from you

Bitcoin's goal is mainstream adoption not reaching $1M. Not just a trading pair...WTF
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cannot be decentralized if the Internet is centralized on: December 27, 2019, 10:21:45 PM
... While the cryptocurrency's PoW consensus is partially centralized (mostly dominated by the Chinese)...
Bitcoin is decentralized ! Even tho chinese miners have most of the hasing power it is not all under one single pool. Not a 51% attack. And even if all fails and bitcoin does fall to this... no problem. Bitcoin 2.0 will step in, more powerful then ever (not BSV... another one Tongue)

So far, many people believe that Bitcoin is truly decentralized as "no one" controls it. But the harsh reality is that every single cryptocurrency and Blockchain network depends on the Internet to survive. It's no secret that in today's world, big companies like Google, Facebook, and even Amazon control the Internet. On the other hand, ISPs (Internet Service Providers) have a final say over what people can view or host using the Internet. This means that Internet is centralized, greatly defeating the purpose of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies of eliminating the middleman...
Bitcoin is not manipulated (to my knowledge). Yes, btc price can/was pumped by third parties (see USTD, and many other examples) but no one controls it. ISP will not ban IP associated with crypto nodes ... let's be realistic here. Big companies may try to centralize as much as possible, to censor, to manipulate popular opinions ... The Overton Window is a great example and an interesting read imo.
There was a time when some ISP (it may still happen....donno) blocked traffic when they realized you were using torrent systems. But mostly torrents were piracy. Crypto is freedom!

For Bitcoin to be truly decentralized, the Internet needs to be decentralized first. Once that's done, you could expect to achieve financial freedom that's out of the scope of oppressive governments, central banks, and large corporations alike. Until then, Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies will be subject to the risks of the Internet's centralization for years to come.
It's not the "INTERNET" you have to fear. If you have a router and few meters of FTP cable you can make a local network and presto.... you have INTERNET. Not World Wide Web... mostly 3 house wide web ... but still the same concept.
I believe Satoshi's legacy is the blockchain and bitcoin was a practical example of how revolutionary it actually is.
A decentralized internet would be great. Many similar options to pick from, no monopol, net neutrality etc. would be awesome. But don't see how without theese crypto will perish !
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MultiLibra - Multilingual, multicultural and multiplatform Libra wallet on: December 27, 2019, 05:50:14 PM
Can you please explain how a wallet can be "multicultural"  Huh
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Many big powers agains crypto on: December 27, 2019, 02:28:34 AM
this is against a few youtube members .

youtube videos by  voskcoin has 100000 plus views. he was not censored.

i looked up six or seven people and they all are still up

All evidence so far point to that... I am honestly a bit relieved but on the other hand makes me cringe to see how such a behemoth as YT can still be manipulated by a few telegram attack groups...

If this happens to major authority as Antonopoulos then we might be facing a huge problem. Hope I'm just paranoid here
