241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: the RISK of FPGA mining on: June 09, 2018, 04:59:50 PM
If you replace a network hash for hash you end up with the same hashrate and 1/10 the ENTIRE NETWORK POWER CONSUMPTION.

Disregarding the normal fluctuation in value of coins being mined.  I don't see how this conclusion is arrived at.

Nobody interested in these devices is planning on continuing along at the same hash rate they are now with a GPU rig or farm.  They will want and need more to keep up.  Nobody is going to buy one and go "OK, I got the same hash as my 15 1080ti at 10% of the electricity so now I'm good this is it."  Once they re-equip en masse then network hash skyrockets.  Just like it does with an ASIC machine.  They hit the network and difficulty goes through the roof.  People then are under pressure to buy more to keep up.  And so on.

Perhaps this is a better way to illustrate:
I have one gpu.  I hash 1000 h/s @ 1000w.
I buy one FPGA.  I hash 10000 h/s @ 100w.
Am I going to buy just one FPGA then?  No.  I'm going to buy 10 of the things so I can run 100x the hash at the same power.  Just like everyone else will.  While we are all hashing more for the same power.  We are all hashing more.  And difficulty goes sky high to compensate for this.

Would like to know what I'm not understanding here.

Ya I don't think anyone relizes the can of worms this is going to open normal home miners can't afford 3500-5000 on one card as more are released the difficulty goes up so your still going to end up using the same amount of power as before because you need to run more to keep up and mining less because of difficulty, but than again the price tag is going to push people out of mining so everything will eventually end up centralized

Would anyone have good settings for r9 cards I have r9 270/280 and r9 390 and using stock clocks with miner configured settings, I get 150-200 hs more with xmr-stak I'm also mining bittube with these

244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help needed! 4GB GPUs can't be mined on? on: June 06, 2018, 05:35:17 PM
Try to buy a USB drive for 8 GB and install the Hive OS on it. The software is free for 3 farms. If in Linux there are failures then it is necessary to search for errors in the computer components
I've been running Hiveos for months and it's rock solid on all my rig plus the dev is always pushing updates and keeps the miners updated I recommend hiveos to anyone looking for a stable mining os https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2350786.0

I'm running xmr-stak with IPBC for currency and works good but I was using indeedminers fork of xmr-stak with currency cryptonight_lite_v7 and was working than the pool stopped accepting shares is the a different command I'm missing I'm running these miners on hiveos

Think XMR-AEON-STAK now also has currency "IPBC", so maybe you need to use that instead of cryptonight_lite_v7
They now support it officially.
Got no issues with XMR-AEON-STAK 2.4.8

246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: June 05, 2018, 08:57:08 PM
The problem is now your asic profitability is going to keep going down especially as bitmain keeps making and selling bigger asic  now to make any money you need to buy bigger and more expensive and so on and so on as the difficulty keeps going up and up now the only one's making money is Bitmain and big time farmers with bitmain connections you and I will no longer be able to mine these coins and make money that asics are released for, This is my problem with asic I've owned them and sold them because they where costing more in power than I was making

HiveOS GPU v0.5-56 2018-06-05 Hot fixes
- Hotfix for AMD "Aggressive mode", claymore reboot, IGPU detection, ccminer start after reboot

Thanks for bug reports and sorry for inconvenience

For some reason xmrig keeps saying no config.json or something like that it doesn't start at all I tried to make a fresh os and still no luck how can I fix it I'm not a big linux guy

When I try mining xmr I dont get anywhere the hashrate on fx-8350 that I get in xmr-stak or xmrig and would prefer to use cpuminer-opt because you support more coins I no its my settings so how do I use these settings in cpuminer-opt

-t 5 --cpu-affinity 0xab, but you should use 4 threads (8MB cache) and you might have to play with affinity
to get them properly distributed.
Thank You I appreciate it

Hi. You can use bxb-miner and evaluate it.
And also we started a bixbite public test. We will be happy if you take part in it  Smiley
"Without Dev fee ! Not a fork of any miner software!"
That is nice, but you use Wolf's kernel, right? You still need publish source codes. It seems to be based on SGminer sources.

I have 2 questions this first I just started using xmr-stak on my 470/570's is it better to use 2 threads or 1 there's mixed opinions just wondering I'm using 2 on bittube but should I switch to 1 if mining can heavy.

The second I was checking out your bios mods and didn't see any for MSI rx470 4gb or 8gb I have hynix and Samsung on the 4gb and micron on the 8gb, would they be included in your PBE

251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU or ASICs? on: June 05, 2018, 02:45:50 AM
If I get no profit any more on mining ETH/ZEC, I would switch to mine another asic-resistance coin, I would not get in the races which are controlled by Bitmain.

That was what miners should do. Super agree with that!  Wink

As miners, we had to face a few things that we can't control, such us ASICs expansion. So, focus on what we can do are the best thing that we can to for survive on this crypto mining world.  Smiley
I agree Bitmain has something up their sleeve as most ppl know they can remotely kill your miner at anytime do ppl really think they are dumping some of these miners at such a low rate just to try to get rid of them, They could of keep mining and not put anything on the market Bitmain and the Chinese government will control all these blockchains if ppl keep buying from Bitmain also asic are not more profitable look at the rates for sia that's what's going to happen to ETH, ZEC and the rest of the coins if something doesn't change, so 6 months after the asics are released we are going to see a bunch of threads how no one is making money Bitmain screwed them just like the D3 so remember you screwed yourself

253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: June 04, 2018, 02:41:59 PM
lets talk about pool diffculity

I found that the pool on var diff sets diff at around 8-120 for my 8 card rigs , but i have noticed that some lower hash rate miners
say 40mhs to my 120 mhs  are getting double the amount of shares !

snip

so should i be setting the diff for that 100mhs rig way lower like 50 or something?

its such a crapshoot though;  if block times roll by quickly;  sometimes some machines get more of a chance to get a submission in over others....

Ping time, and latency... oah latency can be a thorn.  Working from cellular connections:  I feel the pain.  Lots of long term tests for finding appropriate difficulties to run when I get high packet loss regularly is a tough thing to swallow.

Some algos act funny such as when mining xevan, I was able to set one rig at half the difficulty and still get the same server side hashrate of a rig twice as powerful.. seemingly about half of the time.   now, they were weak rigs compared to the "industry", but they taught me that luck is an ever changing and un-predictable factor....  scaling up, just exacerbates the readings during the short-term blocks.   Coins with long term blocks/hashes are a different story.

And, good job on the pool Marvell2.  I myself have yet to get a yiimp code properly configured to interface with a coin daemon....  hats off Wink

Glad the no-ip DNS name helps;  its been a life saver for me, and has helped me recover a laptop in the past as well.   I suggest it to everyone here wanting a nice free customize-able DNS name for their dynamic IP device(s).... all you need from there is to open up some external ports on your router for <insert activity here>.  Sorry for skewing the topic further on the tangent.

@JaredKaragan glad you like the pool, I was glad for your dns help too , its a basic yiimp install, the harder part is getting other coins and wallets
we want to instamine, proton, pigeon, reden and moon.

i had a server working with all those coins last week but i mesed something up had to start over.
in one day i think we mined 20 blocks of reden lol, I can’t wait to try again this weekend

i think us gpu guys neen more small easy projects like this to maximize our earnings
theres so many factors against us we cant have pools skimming too.  I havw no issues with a low 1% fee but then to not ever pay those 130% and 150 % block days like ever? reeks of. theft imo.

I tried to join your discord a few times to get the pool address but the link expired
i sent you a new link, doing pretty good today 4 blocks

https://discord.gg/BKke54

thats a new link, btw I a am bringing down the server for a few hours to add another coin we will instamine for a day or so , ill post coin info in discord
Thanks just sent 2 rigs there

certainly, but also a really high barrier of entry ($$$ + tech/coding knowledge). GPUs, ASICs are a child's play compared to setup a FPGAs

The guy is making the software easy to use by anyone.  But for doing all the work, 4% dev fee.  They are also working with the manufacturers to make FPGAs designed for mining and doing bulk buys to reduce the price.
Well its bullshit scumbags are going to drive mining into the ground with their greed did anyone see the the number of fpga's each blockchain can handle someone did the math so are they only planning on selling a certain number of miners per algo if so thats REAL DECENTRALIZED or fuck it lets make as much money as we can and drive these coins in the ground who ever buys these only care about money so I hope your happy when there's nothing to mine have fun

How important is pcie 3.0 4x bandwidth for this FPGA? Because I use 8 gpu riserless Onda mobos; the only way it'll connect is via m2 key host boards on Pcie 1x lanes.

I was looking at those mobos and wasn't sure the size of the gap between gpu's is it sufficient for cooling or do use a fan to help

i need a recompiled x16 miner myself, im solo mining some x16 coins but dev fees mining always fucking interupts And has cost me some blocks.  Anyone know any non dev fee x16 miners for amd and nvidia?

most of my rigs are on x16 now

p.s all are welcome to join my private pool, we mine raven 5 days and other x16 coins based on difficulty the remaining two days. 2.2 ghs in the pool so far and we beat estimates off all these scam pools like suprnova , etc

they might pay u a bit below your expected a day buy never the bonus blocks , ive doubled my rate of raven mined most days and with 1 min blocks  and the large number of blocks those pools smash. im convinced they are stealing
I'll send my x16 miners your way I like mining raven I've been mining on cryptopool.party seemed to pay the best I received the lowest on suprnova
Send me a pm for ip address sir
pm sent thanks looking forward to send my hash your way
