2421  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are USD Withdrawals From Mt Gox to Dwolla Still Taking Weeks? on: August 09, 2012, 02:02:51 AM
I am sure that you will all be very happy with this announcement

https://mtgox.com/press_release_20120808.html

So when does this policy go into effect? I made a small (<$100) Dwolla about 5 hours ago and it hasn't gone through. I still have another larger transfer pending from 3 days ago as well. I'm verified on both sites and have been for some time.

Looking forward to the return of the faster Dwolla service--I await its implementation.

Should have just held back that announcement until the event that is to take place 'within the next 7 business days'...... actually takes place

I like what this guy is doing:

http://blockchain.info/address/15tcsumFPsrw2p9Egmk7wGszFJVxpw7UiD?offset=2200

note, that the 2200 is the current 'starting point', it'll probably be higher for ppl that click on this after more than a minute or two.

it'd take some pretty incredible odds to bust out like that.  looks like initial funding was 15BTC

(*if i had that bot, i'd give that a go myself)

(ed to add that it's at 51.46 currently)
2423  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are USD Withdrawals From Mt Gox to Dwolla Still Taking Weeks? on: August 08, 2012, 04:02:53 PM
I've noticed that Dwolla transfers are down to about a week or less lately (I transfer money out of Gox almost daily).  Of course I'd love for them to be instant, but a week is better than two weeks.
Not for me.  They've been increasing slowly.

7/26 withdrawal was not completed until 8/6

two from 7/31, 8/2, 8/3, 8/6, 8/8 all still pending
2424  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Withdrawl from Mt Gox into Dwolla Question on: August 08, 2012, 03:55:08 PM
good, cause my last transaction took 11 business days.. wtf..  (*ed: ok, more like 8 days)
2425  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Your Electricity Cost per Kwh (Which country is the Most Expensive) on: August 07, 2012, 05:26:27 AM
there are no tiers on my current plan.  for the last 6mo it's been ~8c/kwh,

this is near Tyler, Tx

Natural gas prices, which dictate the market price of wholesale electricity, remain at record lows.    (well, for this area anyway)

but, there is this other plan, where the first 1500 kwh is 10.9c, next 1000kwh is 9.3c, and all kwh after that is 6.9c

then this "Large Power" plan where the minimum bill is $475, with rate of 5.14c

all the poor wind farms that cant even get their electricity on the grid
2426  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [Hot eBay buys!] Radeon HD 5770 $50 shipped! on: August 06, 2012, 01:19:14 PM

http://stores.ebay.com/RXs-Gadget-Store?_trksid=p4340.l2563

i've bought replacement fans from that guy twice & got 'em both within 3 days.. prices are competitive and the shipping isnt from China or Taiwan

fear not, my nvidia 8800GTX has been put to work on this

soon blocks will be solved **at an even slower pace
2429  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: August 04, 2012, 11:01:42 AM
P2pool sharechain is ONLY to calculate fair (PPLNS) payments for miner.
Fact that solved block is in orphaned share means nothing. It totally not affecting that bitcoin block can or can not be orphaned.
Every share is send to pool, if it contains block - it is spread via bitcoin even if it is orphaned form our sharechain.
Because we have "our block" every 10 sec not every 10mins chance to orphan sharechain is much higher (ie in one day).

so then you're making the assumption that everyone has the same # of orphaned *p2pool* shares that are in fact, still valid?   i'd say not, the higher your latency the more penalized you are.

i think you missed my point entirely

my latency is fine though, so i guess i benefit off the woes of others
2430  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: August 04, 2012, 05:50:54 AM

Not sure what you mean by that, nor the significance of it?

M
Not from reading earlier comments?  boggle.

The significance is, if the share is valid, it should count towards someone's credit regardless of whether or not it gets orphaned from the p2pool chain

obv that share was valid, else it wouldn't have solved a block
2431  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] 5970 on: August 04, 2012, 05:47:39 AM

Thanks for hijacking. Anyways, I don't want water cooled ones, just stock/aftermarket HSF.

Your welcome.

I have two 5970 with Accelero XTREME 5970 fans.  Do you have a price range?

I'm not willing to go above 350$, the cheaper the better.

I think you'll find plenty of ppl willing to sell at $350, those aftermarket fans add about $35 value if you're into that.

If you'd buy all three, I'd sell you my 3 5970's with danger den waterblocks for $1050.  don't have original heat sink or fan anymore, though

I'm just looking for best MH/$ relation, as I don't overclock, and watercooling needs too much investment from my side, as I don't have any parts for it, and finding them in Venezuela will be very hard. So I'm looking for a cheap and 100% stable card. Thanks anyways
i'm not too keen on the water cooling either, i bought it as part of a two system deal....  Grin

but, yah, should be able to pick up some 5970's for $300 w/o too much trouble.  less if you don't mind waiting

aha!  $140

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150561

alright, closing this thread.  must do proper research next time  Embarrassed
2435  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling brand new 6870 for $175 on: August 03, 2012, 09:51:00 PM

yeah, the price is crappy.

i just looked at the message below mine and saw someone selling some for $210.

i don't mess with 6xxx series, since the hashing rates are similar and they (generally) cost more than the 5xxx

they've been even cheaper than that though,

i see on slickdeals they had some for $139 with that (near worthless) dirt coupon

ed:

i've never used tiger direct, so not sure if those are free shipping or not

but there's some @ $155 on newegg also

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?SID=Zj9BUt21EeG-P36F092uNw0_igy53_0_0_0&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&Item=N82E16814150521

ed2: damn, tigerdirect had some new 7970's for $375

and included

DiRT Showdown
Deus Ex
Nexiuz
Total War: Shogun 2
Battlefield 3
Sonic Generations

but it expired.

9% less monies is ON TOPIC.

difficulty +9% = 9% less monies,

supplement income with george abdwnango methods
I don't see why this is on topic. Unless the Bitcoin Discussion subforum is renamed to Prank Calls subforums that is. Please explain what do you mean with 'supplement income with george abdwnango methods' too.  Huh
36,000 ugandan dollars is a lot of monies!

First of all I appreciate all the amazing information within this thread, even though it is nearly impossible to find with so many pages. None the less, thanks.

So I spent a lot of time confused and trying to learn and received little (but useful) input in the newbie thread I made here :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97288.0

You can read it to get an idea of what I've gone through, but here's where I'm at now:

https://i.imgur.com/AG7Qc.png

Glad to say I busted the last block, at least that's what I take it to mean. So am I finally getting the picture? One thing I don't understand, are shares based on an average in the past 24 hours or so? Is that why my payout keeps going up without discovering new shares rapidly? I assume there is no significance of finding a block since I am in the pool (which seems effective even for my low end machine GPU Nvidia). I am enjoying the learning experience about bitcoin and to use it.

Any advice would still be great, thanks!

this is what it says when you get one yourself:

2012-08-02 21:58:24.766062 GOT BLOCK FROM MINER! Passing to bitcoind! http://blockexplorer.com/block/00000000000006df0e6a59574c068e78835ba652e3aca88c0c35be5940d9ae87

that one was mine =p  you get a bonus when solving a block, i think it's the transaction amt?  I got 1.04 for that last one, and .80 for the block previous

Awesome! I'm glad to help and really appreciate your information. I understand more every day! Smiley

Is .80 your average per block? What kind of m/s are you running? And card if you don't mind?

hmm, somewhere around .8, probably.

my stats are @

http://nogleg.com:9332/static/graphs.html

notice the DOA went up a lot there, that's when i added a computer behind my switch.  it gets about 50% DOA, any computer behind that switch gets 50% DOA... well, they're DOA to P2Pool, but I've had them solve blocks.  essentially cheating me out of that 500mhash or whatever.

on maxbtc, the reject rate was maybe 1 every 2500 shares or so.  dunno what the deal is with that

like this:

http://nogleg.com:9332/static/share.html#0000000000000261a8fac12041ebafe2185f671f8ce012b32f459b1d5133f778

solved a block.  but it was orphaned by p2pool, so it doesn't appear in the blocks solved list.

orphaned in favor of this:
