He's currently working on block 6539. If you list all the initial distribution CLAMs in reverse order of the block in which they were created, block 6539 is 27% of the way through. I don't know of a better way to estimate how far through he is. |

The digger that timed his sell off with a big win seems to be watching JD hes a hardcore lurker  Someone is having fun playing the game got to enjoy dental. The mere existence of the digger means there's less buoyancy to the price than there would be without him. Anyone seeing dental win 40k could have been tempted to sell a bunch of CLAM to get in before dental sold off - it needn't have been the digger. I don't get the difference  Can you make an example calculation for old and new system? Maybe it's this: * before: each food blob was worth a certain amount of satoshi, and so the number of food blobs in the play area was limited by the amount that people had bought in with. At the end of the game any remaining food blobs are divided equally between the players. Sometimes if there was a lot of uneaten food in the play area it was +EV to buy in with 1 second remaining, because your share of the uneaten food was more than the buy-in. * now: each food blob is only worth "points", which don't have a fixed BTC value, so the game can create them without constraint. At the end of the game the pot is divided between players in proportion to their mass, so there's always enough money in the pot to pay everyone. Uneaten food blobs aren't divided between players, so it's never +EV to buy in at the last second. Am I close? |

In essence, he s been centralizing CLAM digging big time. One person who can influence the market whatever way he wants.
I don't think so. He had hundreds of thousands of CLAM, and has been steadily selling it on poloniex to whoever wants to buy it. That should have a decentalising effect on the coin. The only problem is that almost everyone who buys from him ends up putting the coins on Just-Dice, and so no decentralisation happens. Well, again, it all comes down to patience, if you believe in something, all you need to do is wait. But I have to admit, this development does make me restless. I did buy most of my CLAM at 2x this current price and now when I realize one single person can affect the market this much, I start to wonder if my CLAM involvement was a good idea or not.
I think it's always going to be the case that a coin with such a small market cap can be easily pushed around by someone with sufficient wealth. The market cap of CLAM is less than a million dollars, which is tiny in comparison with Bitcoin, say. In CLAM's case things are made worse due to the initial distribution, which gave huge numbers of coins to people with big messy wallets. |

Today I used the pushtx page of just-dice to push a raw transaction, I got the message "OK", but it would be nice to have a transaction ID to go along with that. This is just my request/suggestion in regards this page: https://just-dice.com/pushtxIf there's another pushtx page elsewhere that can push txs in hex format into the clam network and which gives you back the txid, that'd be great. What looks bleak is that ever since that whale digger showed up the price has been collapsing and he's only 20% of the way through his stash.
What s the address? It's 4.6 CLAMs in each of around 100,000 different addresses. If we plot a chart showing which of the first 10k blocks each set of 4.6 CLAMs was dug from over time, we see this:  That heavy line cutting across the chart diagonally is the digger. He is (or at least was) moving his coins in reverse order of the block in which the coins were given to him. I say "was" because the most recent digs no longer follow that pattern. Thanks, dooglus, I was helping FreeHealthCare to deposit a paper wallet and so I pushed the tx through your page and I wanted to be able to tell him, "here ya go: TXID". I ended up finding it by using a block explorer and looking for his/her deposit address. Just that that's what prompted the question. Thanks again for the explanation. I actually went and asked about how to calculate it in the Technical Discussion board, perhaps someone there can explain why its not coming out the way you expected.

Today I used the pushtx page of just-dice to push a raw transaction, I got the message "OK", but it would be nice to have a transaction ID to go along with that. This is just my request/suggestion in regards this page: https://just-dice.com/pushtxIf there's another pushtx page elsewhere that can push txs in hex format into the clam network and which gives you back the txid, that'd be great. Oh, and I guess I can just hash my transaction to get my transaction id? Is that correct? Do I use sha256sum or something like that? I've added the txid to the output. You'll see it when I push the next update to the site. According to https://multibit.org/en/help/v0.5/help_importingPrivateKeys.html6. After the import, MultiBit then replays the block chain from the replay date to find the transactions for the new private keys. It is best just to leave MultiBit to sync the block chain on its own.
The replay date being a date you give it. I believe it would update the bloom filters and replay the blockchain from the date you gave it grabbing associated transactions. That sounds expensive in terms of node I/O. The Bitcoin node needs to rescan the whole blockchain (if the date you give it is old enough) looking for transactions relating to the address you give it. Is it possible to DoS a node in that way? It seems like you're getting the node to do a whole lot of work by sending it a very simple request. |

I was winning too much, but I was also reporting too many bugs, being too pedantic about stuff, and taking advantage of +EV offers. I was also referring friends to the site and the owner thought they weren't real people, even after having spoken to at least one of them on Skype with me.
woa how u did that?? haha care to share what happen previously? and ur stragety??? I was winning by counting cards at blackjack. I had discussed the strategy with the site owner, and he was fine with it. He even went so far as to tell me my strategy wouldn't work because I was doing it wrong. I was leaving the table whenever the count went negative rather than playing the shoe out until it went positive again. Sitting at a new table gave me a new shoe with a 0 count, which I figured had to be better than the negative shoe I was playing with, so I'd switch, and it worked. |

If you dug deep in the TOS he signed up under it could have easily been a 20% withdraw fee since that was the time of his most recent deposit. And that is EXACTLY how most other crypto related sites would have done it.
I don't know of any other site which attempts to discourage withdrawals by imposing large fees for early withdrawals. Just-Dice.com offers staking and has no withdrawal fee. You can deposit and withdraw again in the same hour and not have to pay a fee. So can you back your claim that "that is EXACTLY how most other crypto related sites would have done it" please? I suspect it's untrue. |

The site itself isn't the issue (I trust Dooglus immensely). It's CLAM.
One thing I like about JD/clam is that there's virtual zero chance, or incentive for a big-exit scam. That's in comparison to most bitcoin investment sites, were there's strong financial incentives to do it. Dooglus will probably hate me for saying this, but I see just-dice investing/clams as an epic version of bustabit. You can buy-in (polo), or claim the faucet (dig) and now the goal is to hold on (invest) while making phenomenal returns. Not exactly. It does include verifying transaction inclusion via merkle proofs, which is the essence of SPV but it doesn't work the exact same way as described in the white paper.
Multibit is somewhat closer, and is also open source and could be forked, but most alts seem to stick with Electrum.
In point of fact there are NO pure SPV wallets because SPV as described in the white paper also includes the network having a warning system against attacks, which doesn't exist, and the original description doesn't include any practical or privacy-preserving method for querying your transactions either.
OK, so I don't care about "pure SPV" I guess. I was hoping to avoid having to have a separate network of "Electrum servers" when we already have a network of CLAM p2p servers. How does MultiBit deal with importing private keys and rescanning? As I understand it, Bitcoin Core doesn't maintain an address index and so has to rescan the whole blockchain when you add a new private key to the wallet, which is time intensive. If MultiBit is talking to regular Core peers, how do they look up the transactions of interest given only the addresses that the MultiBit wallet controls? https://multibit.org/ says: Easy recovery from data loss You can recover your bitcoins using your wallet words if your computer is lost or stolen It appears that in the current version of MultiBit you can't import individual private keys. It only allows you to import "wallet words" for HD wallets you created in Multibit. These "wallet words" have a creation date associated with it, and so the wallet can scan the blockchain from that creation date forward. Any light CLAM wallet is going to have to let people import their old wallets and scan for distribution CLAMs. |

There's 1 block staked per minute, and you own 40 out of 800k trying to stake. That means you should stake about once every 800k/40 = 20k minutes. 20k minutes is 333.333 hours or 13.888 days. I'm surprised your client always shows something between 8 and 10 days. Try looking every hour for 8 hours. I'm pretty sure you'll see the number go over 10 as the difficulty rises. As for when you get something, it's impossible to say. On average you'll get 1 CLAM every 2 weeks, but with high variance. |

Does Electrum even use SPV? I've read contradictory reports about that. https://electrum.org/ says "Electrum is fast, because it uses servers that index the Bitcoin blockchain" - does it require special electrum servers, or can it use regular bitcoin nodes? http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/spv.html tells me what an SPV client is, but doesn't say that Electrum is one. I guess it is, else why include that page in the documentation? Edit: if you stare at the Electrum home page hard enough you can make it show this:  If you click for 'more information' you get this:  I'm still working on seeing if I can stare hard enough to make that one change. Edit2: This post suggests that Electrum can't connect to regular Bitcoin peers, only special "Electrum servers". This post talks about the Patricia tree data structure, which lets the Electrum servers instantly locate all the transactions involving a particular address. I wonder how pure SPV wallets do this. Maybe they don't allow the importing of old private keys, so scanning a large blockchain for relevant transactions isn't needed. |
