just got my 1st minted coins, damn that looks sexy
I finally got some minted coins after 20 neverending days.
I received 77000 mintcoins from a 10 millions stack. Does it feel normal, particularly high or particularly low for you? Notice I did not receive anything else since then.

try command setgenerate true -1 in the console

you can use variables 1,2,3,4, or -1 to assign processing power to generation, -1 is 100% cpu usage
Woah. I just did this and I instantly started to mint. I didn't think I was even up for minting yet because I moved coins on the 9th of march...
mgburks77, stormia, others: how will it impact your minting? You'll mint more often or for more mint? I my first 20 day period just ended (and I received mint), does it mean I will have to wait 20 more days to see a difference?

The whale has been lowering the price little by little for almost 3 weeks now.
Philip, what makes you believe it is a whale and not something more fundamental (and worrysome)? That's a real question, not a rhetoric one. Other may answer too.

according to coinwarz.com none of all the altcoins is profitable to mine with 1.4 Mh/s, 0.4 $ per kw/h and 800w
Well that is a pretty piss poor watt/hash ratio IMHO... combine that with a very high cost per kwh and mining may just not be profitable for you. I'm getting like 1.7 mh/sec per 700 watts or so and last I checked my electricity cost about half of what you just quoted - and I live in an "expensive" area (for energy and in general.)
For information, what I have (France;truly green => the most expensive $kw in the country;Mintbox 2)
Code:
KH/s: 7.00
Watt: 26 (no typo here :))
$/KW: 0.15
Is it a good ratio according to you? I am also concerned with the Mintbox overheating...

Coinwarez tells me to mine SpainCoin. If only I could get cgminer to work with Manjaro Linux...

We need 50 more MH/s to overtake the dogecoin multipool on the same site. Let's do this.
Only 4 MH/s to get parity of hashing with Dogecoin!

(cross posted on bitcointalk and mintcointal)

Hi everyone,
Lot of project happening with quite an amount of mintcoin as bounty (the mint multipool being the latest one)

I read some people are wary of sending money to non official persons like here
http://www.reddit.com/r/MintCoin/comments/20hiqy/bounty_500000_mint_for_a_mint_multipool/cg3dzfc

What I propose:
An official escrow to make people more comfortable with giving for project. I believe this escrow should take no fee - and of course being someone the whole community trust.
Several names come to mind but the decision on who will maintain said escrow (and be ultimately responsible for handling money) will be discussed internally.
What I need now is your opinion on an official escrow. This takes time to setup (not much, but still some) so I don't want to start such a project of not enough person is interested.

Waiting for your inputs.

David, you're wrong about the multi-pool. Other alts will do this, and we will be left behind. We are the best coin, and must act quickly. Besides, what better way to go green than by using the multi-pool to devalue other alts while adding to the value of Mint.

Mint should be King, and when Mint is crowned there will be far fewer hashes being used in the cryptoworld overall. I understand why the development team wouldn't want to be behind a multi-pool as it goes against efficiency, so just sit back and relax. The community will take care of it Wink

You got it Smiley
That's why I talked about no official approval. There won't be official disapproval neither.
We want the community to empower itself. Waiting for the official sanction of the dev or even the extended team would lead to us babysitting you.
I am a manager at heart (and at work). I learnt that empowered people are more powerful, more imaginative, more creative than soldiers following a lead. If you know agile programming, compare a regular project manager to a scrumaster.

For instance, if you want to get advices on how to lead a "multipool project" or to get some hands to help shaping it, I (and others in the team) can help you. I see us (the extended team) as jumpstarters, no doers. You will be the doers.

That bein said, PM if you wish to get involved on a project. Either a new one (I'd like this, but I am alone...) or one on the wishlist.

They don't respond to the FUD comes in on a daily basis. I like to think it's because they are busy adding merchants and working on development.
This plus having a life :-) And logistics takes a lot of energy too.

who are actually devmembers of mintcoin on this thread?
Check our sig. We don't make it mandatory to show you're a mint team member, though.

I just counted, we are 23. I won't give name, first because some may not want their allegiance to be public and second because for some I only know their nick on mintcointalk.com.

It's a crying shame that the dev premined 700 million MINT specifically for bounties and development, yet the community has to reach into it's own pockets and chuck their own hard earned MINT onto the table to try and encourage the lazy dev to do something.
A substantial part of the premine is geared toward an incoming project. I won't tell you how much, what is this project and how long it will take (although I have the answers for at least two of them). I just want you to know that it goes for the premine as it goes for the rest of mintcoin: this is a long term project. So the premine must also be spent scarcely. And this is exactly what is going on.

Now, I agree that, if I was the dev, I would have acted differently on some things (the dev knows it). Still, things are starting to make sense for me.
I won't ask you to believe me, that's not the point. The point here is to say: no, the premine has not been sold, it is only kept at as long-term reserve.
Day-trade, sell, buy, hold. Whatever you do is good. If you day-trade, you create traffic. If you sell, you give opportunity to newcomers to know about mintcoin (even if they ultimately sell it too, they will have heard about it and this matters more than raw performance of an unknown coin). Buying now is a good opportunity too. And of course, if you hold, you'll get interest Smiley

Remember: mintcoin is long-term, patience is wisdom.
2452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *20 Exchanges on: March 15, 2014, 07:08:16 PM
i am not so sure about that multipool. first of all mintcoin stands for low energy usage. so if we now jump on that multipool stuff it  is against the vision of mintcoin. besides that only heavy miner will get more mintcoins. so the price could go up, but just because of miner which are involved int the cryptoworld anyway...
The official answer to multipool is: no approval of multipool, for the very reason that mintcoin is trying to fight against the environmental issue of mining.

Of course, we won't prevent any attempt at doing so; still, we believe that we should stay straight in our boots and not succumb to the temptation of easy money by perverting our ideal of carbon reduction.

Remember that day-trading is a volatile, though spectacular and tempting, activity. If we pursue long-term ends, we should resort to long-term means. This means widening the scope of mintcoin holders (constant low prices help) and getting more and more merchants to accept mintcoin.
If this is not enough, remember that moving from 2500 satoshi to 5000 satoshi (like blackcoin just did) is "just" doubling the price. Mintcoin achieves half of it every three days. So Blackcoin's success is definitely impressive at first sight, but do not let the magic of high numbers lure you. Percentages matter, not raw numbers.

Alright, that's what I suspected all along.

And that really speaks for
* better documentation please
* a help page inside the wallet explaining it properly
* 'coin control' features - so that I can choose which coin pile to touch
* a warning: "when you send coins, also the change will be reset"
* a ReserveForMinting command and button which actively puts some coin aside which cannot be spent / touched unless I override a warning
* lowering the 20 days (so far there was no real explanation why 20 days)

I could imagine the problem exists not only in MINT, but also in BC, HBN, ... but don't the 20 days make it really bad in case of MINT?

USD inflates at about 8% annually, on average
Sources? (I believe you, I just would like it backed up by sources).

I lost all faith in this coin when the greedy Mintcoin dev asked for 5 million MINT donation from the community to work on a Mint <-> USD exchange, after he's already received 700 million MINT premine.
He never did and you know it (could someone less tired than me (it is pretty late in my timezone) just find the permalink?) plus, he announced several fiat exchanges on this list.

What I said about intellectual honesty still holds true. You know, since the price is pretty stable, you can still day-trade for mintcoins and be back in the game without bitterness Smiley

What was the nail in coffin for me with MINT was the fact they put a super shitty logo on the mintcoin subreddit when there were much better ones. I find it fishy that won the community vote when almost everyone complained about it after it was chosen and nothing changed.
Heard of something called democracy?
There had been a vote. The chosen logo won by a large majority. It was a two-round system, using a reverse-indirect voting (the opposite of US presidential election): first-round by professional designers to create shortlist; second round everyone could vote.
http://www.mintcointalk.com/index.php/topic,340.msg1485.html#msg1485

Intellectual honesty would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

And there's the fact MINT dev keeps saying mintcoin has nothing to do with Mintpal. Sorry don't believe that for various reasons.
What could prove you right or wrong? Absolutely nothing save official documents (like dev's ID and Mintpal's registration papers)? What's the point arguing on something that cannot be changed, mmh?

Quote from: mr_random link=topic=450381.msg5703173#msg5703173 So i've switched to Blackcoin. It's basically the coin mintcoin should have been imo.[/quote

That's the most interesting part of your comment, indeed. I'd like everyone to give me thoughts about the differences you see between BlackCoin, MintCoin and GhostCoin. Not only the technological differences but how it would impact.
MintCoin ends up being a middle term between BlackCoin and GhostCoin but it also has non-technological specifities.

Comparing Black, Mint and Ghost would be interesting, don't you think so?
(I hold no Ghost and forgot to backup my poorly-funded Blackcoin wallet when I formatted my harddrive to install Manjaro Linux)

Will the Mintcoin wallet have some sort of indicator regarding minting, similar to Blackcoin? See the little up arrow on the BC wallet here. http://imgur.com/9z7DxYQ

If it is not centralised, we can not ensure it will be catalogued.

So, as we know the POW/mining of mint has stopped now. But we could donate 2% of all future staked coins into the "mint foundation" for charity purposes.
Interesting idea. We will investigate it. No mandatory donation, for sure, but still something worth investigating.

Before anyone decides to sell at such a low price take into account how highly marketable this coin really is. Just take a look at the growing number of Merchants that accept this coin compared to others and it should give you an idea of the growth potential.
I didn't compare the number of merchant with other coins. Do you have some numbers for comparison purpose?
