2481  Economy / Gambling / Re: What if bitcointalk creates a casino review and ratings board for members. on: March 05, 2023, 10:47:29 PM
I don't think it has to come directly from the forum. There are a lot of community members in here that have already done the same thing for the past few years and people are constantly adding inputs into it and creating unbiased reviews to make sure that gamblers are equipped with the right knowledge before trying a platform out. Also, I don't think theymos will approve this anymore given that the last board that we have added (Ivory Tower IIRC and some local sub-boards) was from years ago. Just use the search function of this forum and you'll see that there are threads in Gambling Discussion that talks about this exact same thing and there's a lot of them there.
2482  Economy / Economics / Re: Planning avoids unnecessary expenses on: March 05, 2023, 10:29:52 PM
Aside from planning, people should always give headroom on some expenses that they don't see coming. Not a lot of people will have this liberty, but allocating an extra for expenses that you are not expecting will always lead save you from unwanted debts and short budgets. For years, I have always kept an extra 10% of my salary for this 'unexpected' expenses. You can call this an emergency budget, and I believe that it should always be necessary to have one since you'll never know when you're gonna encounter them.

But yeah, with how fast prices are surging, you can never be sure with your plans 100% of the timem, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it.

Talon failed to defeat incomplete Liquid.

You know what, the odds for Team Liquid to win was 2.6 and Talon was 1.45 prematch. I thought that this is too good to be true considering that GG wiped them out 2 maps and there isnt any benefit in betting on Talon for 1.45 so I skipped that. Besides that I was sure that its either 2- for either of those team so yeah skipped that for good

Anyway, still not convince with Team Liquid but hey its bo5 so Im willing to take my chances with Liquid again just because I got a good odds on this one

Damn that's good odds. I personally would skip the overall winner phase and let the first game slide before I bet into each different game. Them winning against Talon isn't clutch or a fluke, they really played well and deserve to be in the finals. We know that Boxi's aggressiveness and playmaking abilities as pos 4 is really great, but Jabbz is out here showing us that he can fill that position in and be beneficial to the team. It also helps that the original 4 players adapted to Jabbz's playstyle: they walked in order for Jabbz to run, which is great considering that their analyst is an 8k mmr player while the rest of them are 10k above and are used to high pressure, fast-paced games.

Good luck to our bets. Rooting for Team Liquid to win and hopefully they don't pick late game heroes against objective-centric enemies.

There is absolutely no way that Red Bull is not the champions again, that's guaranteed. There needs to be something like breaking some rules or like FIA punishment or something to make them any worse, otherwise if they really race with this car, I think they may end up starting to work on the next seasons car by now, because the difference between Red Bull and other teams may not be close enough for other teams to cover even if they worked on this years car. P1 is Red Bull for sure, and "for now" Merc is p4, I think p2 and p3 will change between aston martin and ferrari from race to race.

The only way for Red Bull to not get this season's title is for their car to not work as intended Grin They still remain to be dominant and most of those can be attributed to their insane car. Just look at how that car rips through the straights, other cars have no chance. It feels like we're seeing an era of dominance from Red Bull similar to how Mercedes dominated the scene for a good 4 or 5 years. But yeah, Ferrari and Aston Martin is a good 2nd/3rd place, although I'm more inclined to bet more on the latter given how Ferrari still has its reliability issue that costed Leclerc to forfeit the race.
2485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling earn someone a living on: March 05, 2023, 08:03:09 PM
It can earn someone a living, yes, but only if they know how to stop and when to stop.

Most gamblers that I know of who hit the jackpot lost it all in just a short span of time. Being greedy thinking you'll hit the next one, and trying to recoup what you lost in gambling is a great recipe for disaster. To be on the safer side of things, it's better to get a win and never look back—especially if the win that you just had is big. There's no other way around it except that. Only those who are financially stable and are fully in control of their gambling activities can stay in the game for a long time. To those who are not, get the win then quit.
2486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ️ Esports Prediction & Discussion Thread on: March 05, 2023, 07:51:00 PM
After watching Liquid play without Boxi yesterday I don't think they have what it takes to win against Talon. This is the best 3 teams left in the tournament and playing without one member is costly. It is not so much that his replacement is bad it is just that he isn't Boxi and can't even do 30% of rotations and plays Boxi was doing. I don't see Liquid taking even one map unless they manage to out draft Talon by a lot and have easy to execute draft at the same time.

I do not know if Talon underestimated team Liquid because Boxi is not playing but they lost the first map. They have out laned Jabbi early but they forget to account that 4 of team Liquid's players are still very good and can carry their analyst. In the end, they lost badly to Team Liquid on the first map. I feel like team Liquid can win this series against Talon but maybe it will go to the third map.

Anyway, I think GG will win this tournament. Team Liquid is incomplete, and GG already beat them yesterday. Talon is already tired. They have two matches yesterday and have to play early against Liquid. It does not matter who wins the Lower Bracket Finals, GG will destroy them in the Finals.

Talon failed to defeat incomplete Liquid. I think Jabbz already adjusted unlike his game when they play against GG or maybe Talon is just way weaker than GG which Liquid can beat them without the need of a good pos 4.

Either way, The rematch between GG and Liquid will be exciting because Liquid might get a revenge since GG is always choking on finals despite they have a strong start on the upper bracket journey.

I will bet Liquid to win on this rematch. I’m sensing that the original 4 players already adapt with Jabbz style.

I think Liquid has better chances to defeat GG right now, but they still have to be careful on giving up Brood or NP to GG because those guys have mastered the divide and conquer aspect of Dota for so long that it seems second nature to them right now. Since their analyst is already in their side, they have to make use of his knowledge to not pick heroes that are for long dragged games into heroes that are designed for early objectives. That's what they did yesterday against GG and it certainly didn't work. High tempo heroes and you're picking Morphling/Zeus into them? Certainly not the best pick, but they still did it and it what costed them that first game and it all crumbled from there.

Hopefully you're right, that Jabbz adapted to how GG plays. Boxi and zai are insanely active and aggressive on the offlane side of things, but zai kinda adjusted to Jabbz's reserved play style that doesn't want aggressiveness and just wants to take some early resources and levels before rotating.

GG vs Team Liquid is a very one-sided game. TL being sent to the LB is very unfortunate, and hopefully Boxi comes back from rest before their LB finals commence. Rooting for Shopify to win against Talon but the SEA team is performing extremely well right now. I'll let game 1 pass before I bet on the next game because these two teams are currently on a roll and have the momentum going for them. Artour seems to be on a good position mentally as he's making play after plays for SR. But yeah, a toss coin of a game nonetheless. Good luck to our bets!
2488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would You Build your Own Casino(online/offline) If You Know You Can? on: March 04, 2023, 08:50:28 PM
If I have the money, yes I would in a heartbeat. Casinos always win or either breakeven in the long run if the games they provide are truly provably-fair and has a lot of regular customers returning. The only failure I see in casinos is if they fail to take into account the security of their site which should not be underestimated in any way as that may begin the downfall of the casino (through hacks and other malicious attacks). If I know all of these anyway, and I have the money, why would I not try and make it happen? Most of the time, money is the only limiting factor to one's success.
2489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambler has 100% trust in each stake on: March 04, 2023, 07:23:30 PM
I don't trust the player or tean, I trust their output and their current performance. And even then, that trust can still be easily broken if the components of this team isn't complete and they're missing a few key people to get the gears turning. If you still believe in a team that has 88% winning rate that slumps on the current tournament, and has a very bad streak, you are playing by emotions and no longer playing rationally, which you want to avoid as much as possible because decisions led by emotions turn out to be destructive for the most part.

Talon is continuing their win streak after beating TS and I think there’s a high chance that they can 2-0 Entity now if they continue having that kind of draft. 23Savage is unstoppable by using Sunder in creative way just to prolong the team fight.
They are still battling on map 2 but this one will be a clean sweep for Talon. Don't think TB has a chance against such a big burst that Talon has. TA and Zeus both on top of the network have more than enough damage to dispatch anybody.

Keeping my fingers crossed Liquid manages to keep the streak even with stand in. Hate it that there is no cash back on Sportsbet when we have eSports on the ticket.

Boxi is a good Pos 4 and we don’t know how the heck Jabbz play. But one thing is for sure that Micke and Nisha are monster on this league. They can beat the shit out of GG with the right draft for them.

I will still go for Liquid even without Boxi if there core will play the same since pos 4 can be compensated with a strong laning phase which Nisha is good in Midlane. They will find a way to win this match. Does this match belongs to a parlay bet of yours? This will surely gonna be sting in case Jabbz doesn’t full fill his role even on an average pos 4.

In this first game, I'm liking the draft of GG even more. They got a lot of setups that can convert into kills and Io with CK or Lesh is just crazy since you can run down literally any opponents (in this case almost ALL of Liquid) once you got Bloodstone on your Lesh. Just hope that Micke and Nisha gets a good laning stage in order to not get that scenario that I mentioned above. GG's draft is good for taking early objectives whereas Team Liquid relies on dragging the game as much as they can in order to win the match.

We might see a closer upper-bracket final tomorrow as Team Liquid's coach posted on Twitter that Boxi won't be playing anymore due to a medical issue and their analyst Jabbz will be taking in the support role.

https://twitter.com/Blitz_DotA/status/1631782259475853313

Damn I didnt know about this but I already took Team Liquid -1.5 few hours ago

I had my suspicion with this odds though but I thought that hey, its the upper bracket final on a Major so everything could happen in this game then proceed to take this bet. What a clown  Roll Eyes

Haha the announcement was quite early so yeah, it was rough. But anyway, the 4 of them plus the analyst can still put up a fight. Might not be a -1.5 in favor of Liquid but for sure they wouldn't be going down without a fight. The favorites also turned as a lot of bettors swayed towards GG as of the moment, with Team Liquid getting as low as 2.15 odds to win this matchup. Will be sneaking some $$$ towards Team Liquid win if the odds sways a little bit further towards GG side.
2492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: March 03, 2023, 11:49:23 PM

i thought the match is for tomorrow lol.

I'd be going for -1.5 for Shopify Rebellion in here simply because they are well rested and had the chance to watch how EG plays and learn of some of the strategies they have used during their series with Team Aster. Favorites are SR right now but the -1.5 maps option is still juicy enough for the taking if you want some extra risks to take. I wouldn't call it SR win too early, but with the state of EG right now--drained and tired from the previous match--it's easier for me to favor SR. It will also add if Rtz gives us some more highlights during the day that favors their team to advance in the tournament.

That's old EG vs New EG. -1.5 on Shopify could be a bit risky as EG has crowd advantage and they are playing fairly well. RTZ has been looking good though and has had a fair few highlights(especially, his SF). Shopify vs EG starts in another 15 mins. Should be a great contest. Shopify should win it but it could be close.

The back to back games might favor EG's momentum plus their crowd advantage, but I don't think it's enough if you're physically and mentally tired playing for hours straight with the highest pressure there is. Sound cues from the crowd might help EG, but I think SR can also use it to their advantage and rethink of their moves and let EG come to them. Overall, I weight SR's chances to move forward to be bigger than EG. Strat wise and meta wise, SR has it, while EG so far has won most of their matches through clutches. If they can't make it work, they're basically done for.
2493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why all these crypto-twitter "influencers" are still exist? on: March 03, 2023, 11:03:19 PM
They still get a lot of money from being an influencer anyway, plus a lot of people still believe whatever word they say so there's still a community behind them after all. If you have a community backing you up, you still have the power to make money from them and influence them to buy your bags before dumping on them. Even though we have already established that Twitter crypto influencers are no longer needed for the space to grow, people will still believe them just because. Especially if those same people don't have the initiative to think for themselves and decide for themselves as well.

I almost thought we'll be seeing a third game because that second game should've been a win for SR but Team Liquid was able to hold on and stop their power spike during the 20+ mins mark.

With SR knocked down to the lower bracket it looks like we could possibly see a matchup between them and EG if they can beat Team Aster tomorrow.

They really will be matching as Team Aster have been beaten by EG but we don't need to wait until tomorrow as the match will happen after the series of Talon and Team Spirit. If you want to bet for that match guys, my tip is that Shopify Rebellion has got the upper hand on this match. Why?
Because Evil Geniuses just came from a tough 3 matches against Team Aster and that has probably drained their minds already. Whilst for SR, this is their only match for this day. I wonder why the scheduling is like that but well, since it's in the lower bracket, all of the favors and toughness are in there.

i thought the match is for tomorrow lol.

2495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casinos lack slot clubs; comps, is it hard to achieve? on: March 03, 2023, 07:32:48 PM
I have tried to discuss this in the past, but it was shot down...

My suggestion was that casinos offer people discount vouchers for fast food or even vouchers for drinks at certain bars. There are definitely food and bar franchises out there that would partner with online casino's to offer vouchers to their customers.  Huh

My local "Brick n Mortar" casinos offer free drinks for certain VIP customers and a all you can eat buffet at a very low price... and that is definitely one of the things that draw many gamblers. They even have free babysitting services for the kids in a very secure entertainment area.  Roll Eyes

Won't be easy to implement but doable. As a low roller myself, these things are very much welcome though not necessary to make my betting experience a lot better. What I look for in an online casino is not the perks that they could give, but the overall experience when I'm playing in them. But yeah, sometimes I envy the high rollers because they have access to a lot of things that low rollers don't, so these gift cards, some other vouchers on select stores and other similarly-natured items that we can get after meeting a certain threshold in our betting amount can do.
2496  Economy / Economics / Re: Silvergate Bank share drops 50%, Major Crypto Clients Stops ACH operations on: March 03, 2023, 04:56:20 PM
It was announced earlier that the bank sold part of its assets to cover withdrawals at a very high value. The wave of withdrawals began after the bank disclosed that it had failed to submit the financial reports for the year 2022 and that it intended to change the company responsible for auditing. In this report by Forbes magazine, there is a detailed explanation of the causes of the bank's crisis and how it lost half of its stock value in record time.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2023/03/03/latest-crypto-collapse-bitcoin-and-ethereums-losses-top-24-billion-as-silvergate-unravels/
The bank was holding many assets owned by the famous platform FTX, and it was not originally expected that it would last so long after the collapse of the platform.

That explains it clearly. I thought Silvergate is just engaging in a lot of shady banking practices and that there are no other reason as to why they lost that much stock value in such a short span of time. A lot of people have already hinted that the bank will be on the decline after the fall of FTX as an exchange. Honestly, I'm surprised that the bank managed to stay afloat for months after the collapse of FTX. They have evaded all of those doubt that a lot of their clients casted initially for so long up to this day.

Hopefully, most of those crypto institutions managed to pull out their assets and investments so as to soften the blow in the cryptospace. I'm quite unsure why the crypto market suffers when one of these institutions serving crypto companies fall. It's not as if the crypto market is responsible for the mismanagement and downfall of these institutions anyways.

1st hour has been complete, this is deceiving some teams like Ferrari just tested long runs.

The next hour will be more interesting

Wow, 2 Ferraris are 2 second behind. I wonder if Sainz encountered some problems during the first hour that gave him this result? Meanwhile, Alonso also looks good in Aston Martin, just behind against Perez by a quarter of a second. Looks like the rumors are true about Aston Martin, and they finally figured out the formula for their cars to be competitive in the F1 scene. Hopefully this is not just during practice and they can translate this to the actual race as well.

Meanwhile, two of the Mercedes are on the lower half of the lap times. Not really used to seeing them that behind even during practice. Plus the fact that they have mentioned that there were some improvements already in the cars that they are using yet they're still far behind.

Just a year more and I'll be in the decade-old club, although I've known bitcoin as early as October or November 2013. Fast forward 9 years, I'm still here, and have made quite the progress although of course, not a millionaire in any way. I think my journey has been pretty modest: I acquired more knowledge in economics and finance more than I acquire profits, and up until now it helps me in my decisions financially.

I'd still be buying and holding for more years to come, although I am certain that I will never be rich because of bitcoin. It is a good investment but I guess I'm not really lucky enough to be a part of the millionaire club even after 9+ years.

Revenge arcs, I like it Cheesy

Hopefully EG pulls through. I want to see Arteezy and the squad to go all out against the org that let go of them that easily. From a business standpoint, it might be the best move, but there could have been a lot of options for the organization before releasing the roster. But yeah, Aster and EG is a coin toss atm. Both have their high points and have their low points. Between the two of them, Aster is more likely to qualify given their momentum and their capability to completely remove the defending champions from the tournament, though I'm still rooting for EG just so the face-off can happen.

+2.5 maps is a good and quick bet for Aster vs EG. Both fighting for tournament life, so both teams would surely give their all.
2500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In the best interest of investors, Bounties shouldn't be paid in Tokens on: March 02, 2023, 11:58:01 PM
In a way, yes, because it lessens the value of the token/coin that the investors bought. We all know that most bounty hunters would probably just drop those coins in the market after it has been live in exchanges, and that adds up to the volume that has been offloaded. While the amount might be negligible compared to the total volume of the coin, it still will be offloaded nonetheless.

But then again, those creators paying bounty hunters in the same token just means that they have huge trust on the coin to do well since they have already calculated the amount that they need to pay to the bounty hunters with dollar equivalents.
