2481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers that don't understand basic gambling concepts. on: January 02, 2023, 05:17:04 PM
I don't know but sort of you are scolding me not learning the basics but my thought about it really I am open on to learning this since I am too a gambler but mostly I don't get really serious in gambling , like I am a casual player that tends to gamble on weekly or somewhat daily basis just to kill some time and hangout with my friends while drinking beers. Though I've got your point but really I would say that that are the methods you could be used for you to go pro or be expert in gambling , but some of us gamblers are just playing for fun (even losing lol)
2482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 02, 2023, 03:41:57 PM

I personally bet on sports 95% of the time because you can actually make money on it.

Slots and other casino games are a waste of time in my opinion.

If you're making money from sports betting you should also know that there are people who are making huge money from casinos
you should not judge these people just because you are into sports betting and not on casinos, it depends on the interest of the gamblers, there are gamblers that are good at sports analysis while there are lucky people who are good in luck-based games, we should not judge based on their gambling preference.

To put it another way, 95% of them win in casinos but only 5% in sports betting. We do have our own perspective since we have not had the same experience. Let's just respect each other. But, in my opinion, I do both and give 50% for both because it is really based on how lucky you are because you can lose a lot in sports betting and the same in casinos.
2483  Economy / Economics / Re: Your way of living the wage what you need to live normal life on: January 02, 2023, 02:31:37 PM

If person have more skills and experinces then salary should go up immediately otherwise penalty for company.

This is not automatic because many companies have shown that and they don't appreciate unskilled labour. Most of the people suffering from this companies under payment have skills but not acknowledged because the company like to use them in their value but they don't want to pay appropriately. If in government, they like to contract workers and paying them lesser while they are used to execute the jobs of skilled personnel. The government should review it  If you are contracting a worker and you are underpaying him that is modern day slavery, a worker deserve to be paid the worth of his labour.

I work in a government where you won't be promoted if you don't know someone who is in a higher position (like a friend or relative), and a lot of regular employees (or permanent employees) are not skilled (sorry, but it is true for me) since they are only relying on those not permanent employees to do their work (sad but true). I am now currently employed by a private company and have been there for almost two years with no salary increase. So I would say that the owners are not taking care of their employees; they are only focusing on their business.
2484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: January 02, 2023, 01:05:16 PM
What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?
I’m an occasional gambler and I just gamble every time I have extra money which I think making money drives me to gamble more, and some times just a way of spending my free time. I consider gambling as for fun only and not so serious about it, I’m not expecting that much as well about making profit I just go with the flow and consider my luck as my basis to avoid any greed and addiction.
Gambling may be fun at first but later it can turn into an addiction. This can often happen unconsciously which is not unusual. I became addicted once a time early in my gambling life. It was difficult for me to come back from that position. But i got success. Actually i gamble regularly but am not addicted. I tried to get various education about gambling. I have been able to change my gambling style with everything i have learned. It often becomes a bit of a problem for newcomers. Gambling can be profitable if managed by acquiring proper knowledge.
Gambling can be profitable if luck favours and managed in the right way. Being a gambling addict needs lot of learning to come out of it. Most of the time gambling addicts were the one who get into gambling without any basic and deposit on watching someone's win. When the same win isn't possible with them, they try for it and loss everything. This is where the addiction begins.

Gambling addiction begins with losing control over yourself to gamble, such as borrowing money just to spend it in casinos, or being unable to sleep because you want to gamble, and doing whatever it takes to just gamble. There are people who lose huge amount of money, don't want to play anymore, and tend to quit. There are also others who want to get back their losses by asking someone to borrow money. Addiction is not good, so let's be aware of ourselves and try to prevent this.
2485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I now accept bitcoin payments in my Beauty shop on: January 02, 2023, 11:40:09 AM
What a year-ender for you satoprincess! Smiley
The trend is growing for those forum members that also own a business and they're adopting bitcoin and accepting it as a payment. There's nothing to lose for you guys and you just have to embrace the payment method and while you are a bitcoin forum member, you have to apply what you're up to.
I am sure that there will be more forum members that has a business that will start to accept bitcoin for their every products and services that they offer.
Yeah mate, just this close to end year there are several thread created about their Businesses accepting bitcoin(if not altcoins) and this made us proud of them because extending payment accepting is one of the best help we can contribute in crypto adoption in the future.
It is nice of you Satoprincess .
That's all we can do if we own a business. There might be not that much demand at the moment but the time will come when most customers will see that banner of bitcoin acceptance for their shops and eventually, the number of customers that pays them with bitcoin will increase.
There will be more for sure as this year starts and we shall see that many of them becomes successful both with accepting cash/fiat and mostly, with bitcoin.

This year will undoubtedly see a surge in the number of businesses affixing a logo to their front door to indicate that they accept bitcoin as payment. Usually, this attracts all kinds of customers, whether they know bitcoin or not, since they will get curious about it and end up buying it or using your service. Though I mostly see this here in the forum, I still haven't seen a store or business that accepts bitcoin in our place. I believe it is because I am far from the city (but I didn't notice it while strolling last holiday). I am hoping that here at our place they will start to accept this as a payment method.
2486  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading With Borrowed Funds!!! on: January 02, 2023, 10:35:14 AM
It is true that some people have become rich through crypto trading in the recent times. But considering the high risk involved in trading, do you think it's proper/wise to trade with borrowed funds as your capital irrespective of your trading experience?
It is easier to walk across the road with a blindfold and be at peace that you will not get knocked down than to trade with borrowed funds.
The repercussions are too great. Especially when your creditors come knock. Just avoid it totally.

How can you cross a road blindfolded? And also, why are you comparing them both? But, while I understand your point about the possibility, comparing it to something else is completely off-topic.

There is still a 50% chance that you can get back and pay your loan if you win trades and make a profit, but it is not sure. That is why if you are planning to take out a loan, make sure that you can pay it even if you lose it all. This is really the sad truth for poor people like us: we want to risk, but we don't have any money to spend.

2487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 02, 2023, 09:42:27 AM
I found it offensive, but those people who bet on lottery are still gamblers even though the odds are small and they only bet a small amount. as long as they risk money to have a chance to make a big amount of money. You are kind of pointing out that gamblers are just the ones who bet big on casinos.

I lived in Asia, where lottery is very popular and most people bet on it just to try their luck, but yes, the odds are low, but you have a slight percentage to win on this, and also the owners of the lottery here are most of their profit is donated to charity and given back to people who need financial assistance. For us, it isn't a waste of time since we are really winning on this and it really could change their life.

2488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been told: Invest only Extra money in bitcoin on: January 02, 2023, 07:44:57 AM
Investing extra money into cryptocurrency is a wise decision, because we don't know how far this lasts in the market. With bitcoin investment the story is different. You've got good amount to invest, going for it is the wise decision than keeping it as fiat or investing into other schemes.

With bitcoin only difficulty is you need to hold and have the patience to experience the growth. Maybe on emergency requirement the market might be at the bottom and one might experience loss while cashing out.

No matter how little or how much you'll be investing in Bitcoin, it is still okay because it will pile up when you keep purchasing it with your extra money. Though there is still some risk, for example, if you buy bitcoin on an exchange, you will not be able to get your funds back if that exchange closes in a few years, so it is better if you have your own wallet, preferably a hardware wallet for safety. Almost all investments require patience, but bitcoin is the easiest (if you can control your emotions) because all you have to do is hold it and wait for the right time to sell, though your biggest enemy here is your mind, because in bear markets you are constantly thinking about selling it.
2489  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tutored or you learned how to trade? on: January 02, 2023, 05:10:05 AM
Today theres alot of sources in the internet. All we need is to take some time to read those, learn and apply them to the actual trading, at the first thing I do is to make analyze what the fundamentals I need to know with it are, so I can understand how does the market movement works which is the technical analysis, and by that, I seek some strategy how to become a more efficient trader. Now im still continuously learning through my experience and others knowledge so i can make execution properly with those trades.
You can also add a lot of communities for traders around the internet, they are in multiple social media right now, like group chats or channels. By joining and interacting with these groups of traders, you will learn a lot, because these people are the same as you, you will share knowledge, ideas, analysis, and many more.

Tutorials are not enough since, for sure, you still need someone to ask about the specific question about trading that you can't understand if you Google it. I myself enjoy asking questions to communities, joining groups on social media, and having group chats because you can ask multiple questions and those experts will answer them with their experience in trading, from which you can also learn a valuable lesson. What's great about joining communities is that you don't get bored because you're talking to other people, even if it's only online.

2491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bloody Year 2022 coming to End on: January 01, 2023, 10:39:28 AM
~snip~
I mean the idea is that if we had a whole year, even more than a year, nearly a year and a half with bear market then there is a set amount of bitcoins in the world and eventually people will run out of bitcoins to sell, sure there are also buyers and they could keep on selling in a cycle to keep it going lower but lets be honest eventually it will be all diamond hands and no weak hands at all.

This is why it's going to be easier to go up eventually, the more time you spend on the bear period, the closer you get to the bull period, bear is not forever and eventually it will have to end and that means this "eventually" is getting closer and closer with time.

Over time there will be more and more people, companies, and countries that will want to have Bitcoin. That, combined with the halvings will inevitably lead to higher prices for Bitcoin. This is not new or controversial, we have more than a decade's worth of data about it.

Also, in 2025 Central Banks will be able to have up to 2% of their reserves in Bitcoin. That will be a huge milestone.

If there are no something happen in bitcoin for sure more and more people will adopt bitcoin and also businesses that will accept this as payment method . Though I don't hear that central banks will be able to have 2% reserves of bitcoin. Where did you get this info ? But for sure in the future after halving the price will be stabilize in couple of months then after it bitcoin will be making again a new ATH.
2492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have 1 bitcoin? on: January 01, 2023, 09:41:19 AM
Hello friends
Do you currently have at least 1 bitcoin?
Many people sold their bitcoins after quite a big drop, but i am sure there are people who still hodl a large amount of bitcoins
And i always wonder what motivates those people
Faith, hope, unemotional analytics or the ability to see the future? Cheesy
Please, answer only those who really own at least 1 bitcoin
Thank you
I don't have a 1 bitcoin but I have holdings like 0.21456 bitcoins. I have seen many higher markets but have not sold there either. I expected more but my hopes were not fulfilled. But the biggest mistake I made was staking the USD by selling when the market was high. So now I could buy 1 bitcoin. But I hope I get something big from here. I'm holding long term and won't sell without seeing a peak in Bitcoin.

I am hoping that you can survive the bear market but you are still here so for sure you can survive it. When you sell you bitcoin when the price are high  since you are taking advantage on it and also you use it for good like buying food or your basic needs. Selling it with purpose is good but when you sell because you are in panic sell then it isn't good idea. I am sure you learn from your past experience and you will not do it  again
2493  Economy / Economics / Re: Rich Mindset vs Poor Mindset : 6 key differences on: January 01, 2023, 08:45:53 AM
Every day (even today) there are new opportunities to significantly increase your financial well-being.

There are moments in every person's life when these possibilities become so obvious that they cannot be overlooked.  It's called "getting to the right place at the right time".  In fact, this is a gift of fate.  Fate gives a person a chance to significantly improve their financial well-being in a very short time frame.

However, in order to take advantage of this chance, you need to have the mindset of a rich person who is constantly looking for opportunities to increase his income.

Many people do not have this type of thinking, so they do not take advantage of the new opportunity to increase their wealth (referring to various circumstances).
There are people who struggle -  and there are people who complain all the time.
The only brave people get up and face the challenges.

You are not human when you are not complaining because it is our nature but when you decide not to wake up and face the challenges then its your fault since you ar lazy because you didnt face the challenges. I my self there are really throwing me problems, yes i complained but again i do it no matter what since without doing it youll end up not having improving your self
2494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two Gambling Stories on: January 01, 2023, 07:21:40 AM
Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

*Read the different opinions of people here

I'm just wondering about this story number 2, why the boss dares to tell the apprentice to share 50/50 of what he won in gambling when it has nothing to do with what he is studying here?

Why is the apprentice's boss the one who gives him all his fees or expenses every day of his life? is this his relative? does he owe his boss? because if there is none, it means that the apprentice's boss has no right to share what he won.
The teacher could not control his greed because of the high amount of betting reward. He himself had made sure that his apprentice would agree to pay him half of that amount of money. One hand his moral degradation and on the other he exerted pressure on the apprentices. He has completely neglected his responsibilities on this issue. So the apprentice should leave the place quickly. He will not get proper education from that teacher or advisor.

Well, your boss or your teacher is not taking care of you and other students; they are only thinking of your salary or the pay you'll be giving. Sadly, this is really the truth, as some people are doing this because they are only after money. You, as a student, should be aware of this since you are also the one giving salary on this, so you should leave immediately. This kind of people should not be rendering their job as it is unfair to all of us
2495  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid running into financial ruin this Christmas! on: January 01, 2023, 06:17:56 AM
Christmas and New Year's Day are things that are always looked forward to, so everyone must have prepared their money to spend all the money they get on that day, so for people who have a lot of opinions, I think they don't care how much money they have. they spend on that special day and the important thing is for them to be able to enjoy it to their heart's content, but for those of us who produce mediocre of course what you say is something that must be done.

Mostly we really save when the December comes because we really spend on that day and also it is the month of giving. I my self i do really  save when the December comes because i do give gifts on my relatives and also we prepare foods since we celebrate on that that time . There is nothing wrong as long as you still have money after those celebrate you dont go broke because that is another problem. But i am sure all of people already think of it since it is very hard to go broke
2496  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Holding could be better on: January 01, 2023, 05:18:41 AM
Newbie traders should know that they should use the amount of money they can afford to lose to trade.

We can see bitcoin at its low price, instead of some people to just DCA and accumulate, they may prefer to trade, I will advice you not to lose the coming opportunity as some people might lost in the last bull run. Some people are believing that there will be no bull run again in a 4 year cycle, I am not still one of that people, I believe we are still going another round again.

If you know that you are trading and losing your money, it is better to think about this twice or three time or more before making the wrong decision that you will later blame yourself for. We are in accumulation period, try and hold and accumulate.

My advice to traders that are losing is to still continue to trade, but using just 20% while 80% should go into holding. What do you people think about this? Out of 100% fund, what percentage can you advice a trader to use?
Currently trading at this time seems very risky to me. I hold 100%. I pretty much stopped trading. Then without knowing my mind I took a trade but there I am still in a lot of losses. So in this bad market I suggest to refrain from trading. Holding is better than trading in these bad times.  If you can hold on to these bad times, surely you will achieve something good soon. Trading especially requires extra time, if you don't have it, you must hold on. So I say it's better to hold on.

It is safer than holding but mostly on bear market they will not do any trades because they will be lossing . Holding on the other hand is good  or purchasing bitcoin on bear market since  if the price is back for sure you'll get profit. Trading really requires time but some only spends few hours since they are do day trading and they will only trade once . The most stressful is scalping that you'll be in monitoring always to see when is the best time to trade
2497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 01, 2023, 04:21:22 AM

This has the benefit of not losing your coins when you die, but also has the positive of not having to trust your partner/family when you're alive. That's how wealthy people deal with their money all the time.
The important thing here is what happens to my cryptocurrency after my death or if I lose my speech and sight forever due to mental or physical problems.  In this case, it can be shared with the life partner even if it cannot be shared with any other family member.  One thing must be taken care of so that your partner does not cheat on you.  Never share your secret password and private key with him if you see a cheating mindset.

Cheating is very difficult to find out, and if both of you are still not married, then I think it is better not to give your seed. You should tell your parents about it, but if both of you are married and have a child, that is the time you will tell her. If you become deaf and blind, you can still provide the seed phrase or teach them so that it can be recovered, but when you die, there is no clue. Same with my stepfather; my mother says he has Bitcoin, but the problem is that his PC is not working, and when I checked his phone, there were no traces. So probably I will fix his PC or leave it.
2498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you get a time machine now? on: January 01, 2023, 02:27:27 AM
I know most here in the forum are somewhat old and mature, but I think let's just think about it right now as a kid and fantasize about it. I am sure all of us here want this; either we should advise our young selves to buy a lot of bitcoins since your dreams will be fulfilled by this, no matter how poor you are before trying to purchase it. Though, once again, using a time machine to change the past will have a ripple effect or cause many things to happen, what if bitcoin was not as successful as it is now? Let's just say that let bitcoin be it, try to achieve what you want now, and buy bitcoin!
2499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: January 01, 2023, 01:34:11 AM
I have that kind of habit too when winning big since no pain, no gain lol.

In that particular situation, I'm setting up a limit depending on how much I win.

For example, if winning $200 on a big win, either via a bonus game, buy-in, or related features, I will risk $100 to lose after that. If the risked amount got busted, regardless of what my emotion is telling me to do so, I will try to follow my set limit as possible as I can.

I'm now used to doing that.

You must try to control the gambling capital that must be used and have a profit target that must be obtained because if it's not like that it will make you lose money. Although nothing can guarantee you will always get a win, therefore you must be careful when you want to gamble.

It is because winning is not guaranteed you need to have control on your money because if not you will lose it all . I think you have already noticed some professional gambler is that they have only alloted and bring money to the casino that they want to lose, they dont bring extra and cards on them since they know that if they lose they cant control themselves. So we as a small time trader lets just have an budget that we can spend even if we lose it all
2500  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income? New Start-Up Would Pay you to Share Personal Data on: December 31, 2022, 04:34:48 PM

Would you share personal your data to an ad company for a pay? The data will be used for advertising purposes where you can earn a cut of the revenue that the app generates from it.

This isn't an issue to some people who had already lost their data severally to random platforms. Besides this is exactly what banks does with our data without our consent let alone paying us.
So, I wouldn't be surprised to see people subscribe to the idea.

Another issue to consider is how long would they continue to pay you because if your data is harvested once, they may pay once or twice and stop paying you while continuing using your data.

That is also a problem but for sure when we agree for the terms we should be reading it thoroughly if we decide to stop the called data harvesting on you . So probably they will do is that they will stop collecting data on you but again your existing data or your previous data will still be on them and cant be archive or deleted since it is always a win situation for them . Though there is still a lot of things that needs answer like how can they cater if there are a lot of users will sign up on this?
