Can you confirm price of 7 units as 3.05?  My maths is crap, just want to be sure.  Undecided

I keep getting this spamming my p2pool node's terminal window.  Happens every 3-5 seconds:

Everything seems to work OK, but I don't know what this error means.  Only started yesterday.

Are you getting shares or lots of rejects (in the miner software) I switched to cgminer 3.3.3 and started seeing these and every thing was being rejected. Switched back to cgminer 3.3.1 and all was well again.

I don't think it was anything to do with miners - I had nothing mining on the node at the time.  Besides, I use bfgminer.  Rejects and stales were at zero, as usual for my node.

Restarting both p2pool and bitcoind seems to have fixed the problem.

2505  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why is the demand still so high for Miners with returns like these? on: August 14, 2013, 12:33:41 PM
2 BEs@5watt give roughly the same amount of hashpower as an overclocked 7970 @ 250 watt. It's all about how much power you consume vs how much you can hash. For me it's just an intermediate reinvestment moving from GPU,

This.

I'm spending a few BTC replacing my GPUs with USB Erupters.

4 USB sticks using 10W are doing 1.2GH/s - they're plugged in to a USB hub that sits on top of my workstation (an i3-3220T machine) - the PC AND the USB sticks are using less than 90W in total.  They're not deafeningly loud, and aren't adding a bucket load of heat to the house.  They're replacing 2x7950 and a 6970.  90W vs nearly 1kW.

The BEs are cooled with a single 120mm fan (salvaged from a dead PSU) blowing past them, which is running off an old Netgear router PSU, all stuck to an old Moduvent from a Fractal Design case (plastic with foam backing).

I'll be selling the 7950 cards soon, and going by my previous GPU sales, I'm not going to lose any money on them as they were bought used off eBay.  The 6970 I just sold not only mined me about £300 worth of BTC in it's life, but it sold for £10 more than I paid for it.  The 7950 should break even, so again the BTC they produced have paid for the BEs, and anything the BEs make is pure profit from now on.

Then there's the boxes of fans, the piles of big PC tower cases, the 1kW PSU....all that will be going on eBay, hopefully again making back what I paid.
2506  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining with PCI Express 3.0 Videocards on PCI Express 2.0 motherboard on: August 14, 2013, 11:59:35 AM
Yes, it's OK, as long as you sacrifice a chicken every 0.1BTC you mine, otherwise the PCI-E gods will be displeased and blow up your PCH.

2507  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters #5 (and blades) on: August 14, 2013, 11:10:45 AM
I will buy 3 more USB sticks, but it'll be early next week before I can get the BTC mined.  I'm 0.2 short at the moment.  Roll Eyes  So if you could reserve 3 - if I can't get the last bit mined before then, I'll definitely take 2.
2508  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: alternative power supply for ANKER hubs? on: August 14, 2013, 10:54:20 AM
Open-frame PSUs designed for running LED lighting or CCTV cameras are pretty cheap and very reliable.

Something like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCTV-Camera-Professional-Power-Supply-Unit-AC-DC-12v-Sameday-Dispatch-/150847896513?pt=UK_CCTV&var=&hash=item231f3c3bc1

You could also use a bench PSU - I have one here that does 30A at 12V and was less than £100, has current limiting function, and meters for voltage and amps on the front.
2509  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters #5 (and blades) on: August 14, 2013, 08:53:56 AM
I'd be interested if they were a tenth of the price.  Grin

I think it'll work OK, I had a 6970 and two 7950 running together in one machine with 12.8 on a C206 chipset board and a i3-3220 on Windows 7.  Board was an Asus P8B WS.

I put my NMC address in, but when I revisit the My Eligius page, the NMC address isn't displayed.   Huh

If you need to read a readme to get it working, it's too complex by default.  Grin

Get an RPi ~$50+ and it will run linux and mine on all those devices ... and never shutdown at 3am doing windows updates (that you'll have to know how to deal with) ... and not detect cgminer as a virus (that you'll have to know how to deal with) ... and not need buying the OS and updating the hardware (or wiping and reinstalling windows that you'll need to know how to deal with) every couple of years due to windows slowing down to a crawl ...

If any of this happens to you, you should definitely stick to Linux, because you suck at running Windows.   Kiss

Just sayin...

am I using GBT or stratum?

 Huh
2519  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters #3 on: August 12, 2013, 03:00:57 PM
Why is it almost 2 times cheaper if you buy it in US ?

Is that like half the price?  Shocked

They get them cheaper to make up for how much their country sucks.  Tongue

 Windoze users

You have to stop calling Windows that.  It's not funny, it hasn't been in 2 decades.  Grow up.
