2501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks in Ukraine Restrict Clients from Buying Bitcoin using Ukrainian hryvnia on: March 20, 2022, 11:30:16 AM
With the ongoing war most of the tech companies based in Russia have closed its operations. This is supposed to move to different locations around the globe. As of now it is predicted that the move could be towards India. Same as this Ukraine people have lost jobs out of the war. As a result works towards the Ukraine Centers were redirected towards India. This could give job opportunities to Indians, and more such incidents altogether cause fall of economy. Just to focus on recovering the economy banks have taken such measures amidst the legalizing from the government.
2502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Happens to One's Bitcoin if Death Occurs? on: March 20, 2022, 11:04:26 AM
My wife and Eldest Son already has the share for my private keys so in case of unexpected death then they can share the keys and will take all my funds for their uses when I'm gone.
Does that mean you've shared the private keys with your wife and kid or you've shared part of the key with your wife and part of the key with your kid. So that in case of unexpected death one cannot take control of the entire holdings. Both needs to mutually agree and only then the wallet will be accessible. I don't know in what aspect you mentioned the word "share". However this gave me think of a better way to keep the private key safe in case there are two kids person to share ones holding.
2503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Happens to One's Bitcoin if Death Occurs? on: March 20, 2022, 09:36:25 AM
More suggestions were provided by users to inherit the holdings once after death. Keeping the private key safe and informed to a person close to him/her is considered the best way.

There are more firms supporting such services of inheriting the holdings legally. Nowadays centralized exchanges have started to request to provide details on nominee, so that if the respective user dies the holdings can be transferred to the nominee with ease. Coinbase exchange provides such access of transferring funds according to the will provided by the user.

According to the information from coinbase one need to name a beneficiary in his/her will and add a document to his/her estate plan that lists crypto assets and any passwords, PINs, keys and instructions to find your cold wallet. If you have an account at coinbase cryptocurrency exchange, beneficiary can contact customer support to notify them of the death and claim the holdings[/url]
2504  Other / Politics & Society / History of Money on: March 20, 2022, 07:19:13 AM
The evolution of money have taken different forms. In the early days people traded goods and services for what they needed. One having livestock will exchange its products in exchange for vegetables with the person who have been into cultivation. Apart from this people used to work on the livestock and agricultural farms for food. This practice have served as the building blocks for the present system.

Going through history it is possible to see different coins being used in different regions. The first round coins stamped with gods and emperors for authencity were created around 500 BC.

The first paper money was created in China in 700 to 800 A.D. China is the first country to use paper money. The lighter weight of paper money allowed for international trade. Same time it created problems and led to currency wars. Upon the same coins once again came into usage.

What is Currency Wars
When leaders of different countries attempt to devaluate their own currency there happens currency wars. This increases demand and helps stimulate their economy. Even in today's forex market this can be experienced. Currency Wars have negative consequences for the countries involved, including currency volatility.

Roman Empire started the first bank around 1800 B.C and these banks allowed deposits and provided loans. When the empire fall, the banks used to collapse. Later the banks turned to be more respectable and started provided loans and ran successfully. Further the first bank in the US got established back in 1791.

The Gold Standard got into usage by the year 1816. Gold was made the standard of value in the country of England. With this system each bank note is backed by certain amount of gold. Now money has taken the form of everything from the U.S. dollar to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

The banking system further got its usage through credit and debit cards. Credit cards were first issued to the consumers during the year 1920s. Money with its different forms got used physically. With the boom of internet, everything started to happen on the go. However for every transaction the banks started to charge.

Digital Currency
In the 90s, digital currency tried and failed to get off the ground, but in the 2000s things have changed, allowing it to grow in popularity and in widespread use. Digital currency allows individuals to invest in potentially growing currencies and spend money in a way that’s more convenient. Finally the history have driven us towards the era of cryptocurrency which is going to be the future of money.

History of Money

Came across this article which has been posted 13 years back, and I don't know whether it has been edited. I was astonished to see discussion about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies added to the article during those days.
2505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Casinos invest on endorsement from celebrities on: March 19, 2022, 11:59:47 PM
Every platform have got its own style. Stake follow the way of using celebrities to endorse the platform. By the same time it is also promoting the platform through different contests and different forms of bonus provided to its users, which is the reason for its success. If there is only celebrity endorsement, then this could've never been this good.

It is something better than celebrities advertising products. Because, those celebrities never use the product and they advertise it. Here these celebrities are into it and this makes the platform more trusted.
2506  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin bounce back to 60k in this year? on: March 19, 2022, 11:53:22 PM
According to the on-chain data there is good demand with bitcoin. The same has caused supply shock on the bitcoin exchanges reserve. This is true indication of the market towards a bullish trend. From the whales and the large scale institutional investors there is good outflow of bitcoin from CEX after a long term accumulation have reached this bull trend in the market. Soon the BTC exchanges reserve too gonna reach the ath of 2018 market. For all this reason there is good chance of bounce back.
2507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling in METAVERSE on: March 19, 2022, 11:46:39 PM
Regardless of there's a Metaverse touch on our gambling experience, that verification will still be the same.
I do not believe the verification level will be the same, I watched an animated movie which is meant for kids called 'Ron gone wrong'. In the movie, certain robots are built which individual kids can give instruction even for online activities by just speaking with the robots, later it was known that the company that built the robots is also using it to invade the private lives of the kids (which is definitely beyond verification). Metaverse can also be like that in a way to go beyond verification but also in a way there can be more privacy invasion. Metaverse has just started, I believe there will be more knowing about it later an how what is happening in universe is far better.
In my view data is money. Whether it is Metaverse or something beyond this innovation, there'll be need of verification. In specific if one can be controlled or his mind thoughts were read, automatically he'll be directed towards his needs. This is how the market works and Metaverse isn't an exception. Maybe something without KYC can operate, but end of the day it'll breach into privacy through some other means.
2508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 19, 2022, 11:39:48 PM
Another defeat by Indian Woman in the World Cup even though they scored a decent total with a blistering innings from Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar and a slow paced innings from Mithali Raj and still Australia was too good especially their top order Rachael Haynes, Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning and it looks like they have the complete team to win this world cup.
Indian Women does the best, but they weren't able to take some early wickets. This is the reason for the loss against Australia Women. If the partnership were broken at certain time interval surely the batting order will collapse, but Australia used to gain confidence when the partnership gets built. India have lost its matches against New Zealand, England and now Australia. This narrow it's entry to the top four. As said Australia is strong enough to hold the Cup once again.
2509  Economy / Economics / Re: You need to understood world is business and priorirty money and profit on: March 19, 2022, 11:33:10 PM
Putin won't be removed without Russia fighting who ever trying to do that because Putin will unleash his Army fully on the country, so don't think about that happening very easily. And although Europe will need Russian gas but that won't be enough reason to stop the sanctions. Europe is going to try more sources to get gas instead of largely depending on Russia.
Already European nations are much into the infrastructure development of solar and other forms of energy production. Instantly these countries can't make a move. With time the dependence over oil will gradually decrease.

Removing of Putin is not an easy thing, and it isn't like any other country. If this has to happen the military needa to take control, which never happens with Russia. Another thing, already Putin have served in the military. So he knew well, what has to be done to keep everyone under his control.
2510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! on: March 19, 2022, 11:26:43 PM
14% respondents to El Salvador’s Chamber of Commerce said they have transaction in bitcoin since September

El Salvador’s Companies Barely Bother With Bitcoin

This was a survey by El Salvador’s Chamber of Commerce which shown vast majority of companies in El Salvador have not used bitcoin for business.

Quote
More than 90% of the 337 companies polled between January 15 and February 9 said Bitcoin adoption in the country had little to no impact on their sales. Of the businesses polled, 71% were classified as micro or small businesses, 13% as medium-sized companies and 16% as large, according to the survey.

Only 14% of respondents to the Chamber of Commerce Survey said they had transacted in Bitcoin since September, when the country became the first in the world to recognize the digital token as legal tender.

I am thinking the missing USD and other complaints of Chivo wallet users might caused this, people are discouraged to use what has been faulty in the past because people do not joke with their money. Or probably because there are still many Salvadorans that do not know much yet about bitcoin, bitcoin wallet and how to use it. Or probably because people just prefer to hold bitcoin than using it for paying. Or probably because El Salvador bought bitcoin at high price of $50000 or above and Salvadorans are discouraged, but if this last reason is among, there will be more Salvadorans that will use bitcoin during bull run.
In a short term this is a good transition from fiat to bitcoin. Already people are good and comfortable with the fiat usage on their daily needs and business. Now a new system getting involved will take time for people to get adopted. 14% of the Salvador businesses have added bitcoin and among that 71% is small and micro businesses which is the real success. In most of the countries adoption happens at the higher level. Here we see it from the low bottom, so this number will change with time.
2511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto Scams now the second largest in the world on: March 19, 2022, 04:14:35 AM
According to the report from Better Business Bureau scams involving cryptocurrency are the most prominent and riskier one after the online purchase scams which accounts 37% of world's total scams. Earlier cryptocurrency was placed at the seventh position on this list, and during the year 2020 it has moved to the second position. Only 2% of the scams around the world account to cryptocurrency scams, but the amount involved seems to be high. On an average it is found to be around $1200. With cryptocurrency Scams/frauds Rug Pulls are very common.

Quote
What is "Rug Pull"
This is a process of creating new cryptocurrency. A person or group create and establishes whole new cryptocurrency or token that investors can put their money into. They garner all the funds they need, and right when the token appears to be reaching a new price peak, the executives run off with all the cash, leaving investors with bruised egos and empty pockets.

2512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: where can a tourist exchange their BTC without excessive requirements? on: March 19, 2022, 03:38:22 AM
As the above user suggested, P2P exchanges were the best for this. Have an account with BitQuick and DameCoins. This allow users to deposit fiat money via different methods like PayPal, bank transfers, and credit cards. These platforms gives access to buy Bitcoin without phone verification. Her it is possible to deposit other cryptocurrencies for buying bitcoin.
2513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin becomes priority alternative when cash fails on: March 17, 2022, 10:52:10 AM
The real purpose for which bitcoin is being innovated is getting fulfilled. To overcome the flaws in the fiat system blockchain evolved as a solution with the bitcoin developed over the platform. Initially people are not in a situation to believe it as an alternate to the fiat, but it was always termed as a solution to launder money and as a value storage asset for illegal and gambling needs. Slowly this gained importance as an investment.

With the ongoing war the usage of bitcoin peaked as it is the only solution with which Russia is able to escape the sanctions. Ukraine on the other side have legalized crypto and the outcome is the incident mentioned by OP.
2514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine passed law to Legalize Bitcoin what does it mean for Bitcoin? on: March 17, 2022, 03:21:33 AM
Once the law is being passed there is good movement in the cryptomarket. I don't relate the growth is due to the law, but it could've got some impact. More countries are into regulating the market, but the decision from Ukraine is something unexpected and an immediate one. As they've benefitted out of bitcoin, this change could've been done. Earlier the same one is being denied.

Already they've raised more than $55 million in donation. Now the legal status of cryptocurrency will help them more. Now it is time for Ukraine to act wise and keep up the economy. The Ukrainian government is taking required measures for the same.
2515  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: where to spend my bitcoins in new york city? on: March 15, 2022, 11:41:48 PM
I chose to ask here because some places on the coinmap seemed quite outdated.

My idea is to have some more accurate indications.
I found this article and have a list of stores that accept Bitcoin in New York City.

Myself too came across this list which is the recently updated one. Based on the data, it has got good number of fooding place available with bitcoin acceptance.

Myself checked for the list of bar that accept bitcoin. This landed me on a page that briefed about New York City bar EVR in which they've been accepting bitcoin since 2013. The article was dated back in 2013. I'm not sure whether the bar is in use at present, but the bar is very early adopter of bitcoin.
2516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: March 14, 2022, 11:58:14 PM
Last night, I idly watched a movie about VR. The film is called Moussa, and I wonder if it will be like VR is happening now? But if it has been applied to gambling, how do you feel about playing gambling using glasses? It also feels strange if we wear VR glasses to play gambling. Or maybe with the development of technology, we can see playing gambling virtually like when we interact at a real gambling table. It's really still beyond my ability to imagine Grin
It may seem odd now but people adapt very fast to those changes, if we were able to tell people 50 years ago that in the future most people on the street would be looking at a small device instead of looking ahead of them and that most social interactions will be done through that device they would have never believed us, but now look at us, that is the reality in which we are living, and I think VR is going to have an even bigger impact than the one we are seeing with smartphones today.

VR is now slowly spreading and the interest of people especially on gaming scene is now rising and if casino owners adopt this and implement this on their businesses then provably we can see this industry became more bigger and successful as many people want to play in different settings using VR or anything what can make them entertain.
Yes, the usage of VR equipments over the years have increased. In particular the usage of VR headset have increased a lot. This means more number of people have got into gaming. Maybe slowly this can enter into the gambling platforms. I don't find this to make a big change and give better entertaining experience when used in gambling.
2517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you know when to sell? on: March 14, 2022, 11:38:18 PM
Altcoins were never sold, it gets added to the portfolio. Whenever there is good bullish move in the market I used to sell the holdings. Most of the time I sell only if the respective altcoin have given me 2X profit, if not I'll just hold it. At times when there is good level of volatility I prefer using it on trading so that the holdings can be increased.
2518  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - 🦉 DRAKE x STAKE 🥩 - Watford FC & UFC Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: March 14, 2022, 06:21:35 PM
Stake once again provided the humanitarian support to the people who need it. Though Stake is into gambling business, it thinks of the people than making profits. Not everyone have the mind to support the needy. However Stake need to have a track of the funding, because even from the humanitarian aid officials used to corrupt.
2519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is the future of Binance bright??? on: March 14, 2022, 04:55:00 PM
Most of us underestimate Binance during its early days and we got surprised that this project become one of the top 10 coins on the CMC. For sure, it is not a question to ask if this has a bright future coz obviously that is what we see.
Although we are not 100% sure about the future of the crypto market, even Bitcoin but maybe we have to trust them. As if given the chance that Bitcoin will still exist 10 years, 20 years from now, it is really possible that Binance and some altcoins are still there.
There is nothing to fear about the survival of the Binance coin. The usage of Cryptocurrency have increased a lot compared to the past and the same makes the market alive even after decades. The Binance exchange being the largest to back the trading services, we can expect regular update with the network. None expected this to make a big move towards the top in the short, but it was innovated by a good team which never let it go down.
2520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 14, 2022, 02:08:03 PM
~snip~

What is happening?

Rohit Sharma has changed the Indian team completely. Another test series and again it is a whitewash. You can say that the Indian side has been playing within India and that can be the reason for the stellar performance but psychologically this team now has a positive attitude and high satisfaction level. Next will be to see them perform outside the subcontinent and more in other parts of this world where cricket is played.

Nothing has changed imo. Only surprising factor was Bumrah outbowled our spinners on rank turner lol

The reason i'm saying this because Indians are dominating at home and didn't lost a home series in a very long time. England was the last team to win test series in India (2012)

Reposting this stat. This record is impressive but Australia is next team to tour India so let's see.

Yes Indian cricket team used to perform well within the country, but very few players have better records out of home. One such player for India in recent years is Virat Kohli. As said, the upcoming test series against Australia is the real testing for India to show their ability. Indian grounds were much dominated by the spinners and this time this time Bumrah have taken credit with his short run fast pace bowling.
