2521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 30, 2023, 05:54:21 PM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?
Well sort of. Easy access means that you need to have more self control on gambling. But you can't really fight easy access. Or it would be hard to do so. Even in Finland that has goverment monopoly over gambling is planning to go replace it with licence system as they can't fight the online gambling, nor they are getting any taxes from it. I am not sure what this licence will hold but i am hoping we won't end up being one of the banned countries.

Right now our government has several gambling restrictions in place. One is that you cant play 24/7. For example slot machines in shops can be played in 9am to 9pm and require kyc soon. And even in their web pages you can only play from 6am to midnight. So most of the people moved to playing in better casinos. And obviously some people can't handle it when they don't have any limits but they are such a small group it will be not a popular enough idea to restrict internet casinos.

So i don't think many countries in the world would be interested to make casinos less accessible as the whole point of the internet is make things more accessible.

And i am obviously excluding the countries that are restricting their citizens internet usage.
2522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes a crypto project reliable and trustworthy ? on: January 30, 2023, 05:30:17 PM
If dev team follows regulations and is active, committed, transparent and smart and does answer hard questions. That's a good starting point.

However even if you can trust the team you can't always trust the project. It could fail for several reasons. One of many is that superior tech comes and makes the project completely irrelevant, yet the team keeps on building it even if they know it's doomed because they have money left to spend.

But i would start from fundamentals, find if there is a realistic use case, check competition if any and if they have a better solution, and finally go and deep dive the team and check that there are coders in charge and no pointless advisors or business CEOs or advertising team what have no idea what crypto even is.
2523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: beginner in Crypto on: January 29, 2023, 11:20:22 PM
As a beginner in Crypto with a limited budget would you recommend purchasing the lower priced NFT's?
If you have no idea what you are doing and it sounds like it, it would be better just to buy lottery tickets. I don't advice you what to do but if you are going in NFT game, at least study it a lot before going. I have been defending NFT markets but when someone asks a question like this i just know they are going to lose everything. I can't underline enough how much risk you are taking compared to mid level marketcap altcoins, or even low caps.

There are some apps that can help you like:
https://dune.com/browse/dashboards?tags=NFTs
https://app.traitsniper.com/

But once again you would need to know how to use that for your leverage. Start by reading and joining communities, listening podcasts and leaders of the scene who are building.
2524  Economy / Economics / Re: Success is fundamentally determined by luck, not effort. on: January 29, 2023, 10:28:21 PM
Lol, this sounds ridiculous but I think the number of people who succeed by luck is very small. I also know some successful people who stay humble when it comes to their efforts and talk about their luck instead. However, I think that to be successful requires a lot of factors, not only effort, or luck but also perseverance, dedication, creativity... in which luck is just the last ingredient.
They might be just being humble, we know for a fact that lick without actions will not lead into any good results. Some were given some luck but losses it since they don’t know how to manage it like those 1day millionaire which wins in lotto and just happen to spend it into somethings else and didn’t save or bought some investment. Those who have knowledge will not make this opportunity to grew their profit more or to expand it so skills and knowledge is needed.
This is the correct answer. I've seen many rich people saying that they were very lucky. Which is sort of correct but they down play the fact that they knew exactly what they were doing and how to make money and what they were doing that others weren't. How they were brave when others were fearful. But people really don't want to hear that. Or they don't understand it, nor many of them have other talents needed for smelling profit.

One of the reasons for this is to avoid any talks when people are asking financial advices on what to invest. No one with a good heart wants to carry that responsibility for people. So they cut some corners by saying they were lucky degenerate gambler or something like that. That keeps away anyone wanting financial advices or tips.

but there seems to be no sign yet that BetFury will continue the signature campaign. on the other hand there is a problem that must be resolved by BetFury to return to make its trusted reputation even better.
somehow for what it must have been maybe I missed something that the BetFury representatives are getting negative trust. it needs to be resolved soon before the signature campaign starts again. because if not, participants are also afraid to join the campaign.
Well negative trust is not going to be solved by signature campaigns. In fact if people see that accusation negative enough they might even give negative trust to people wearing the signature. Like with 1xbit. But i think that would need several unsolved and proven withdraw issues. I don't see Betfury's negative trust such a bad issue it could be. It's just annoying and embarrassing for anyone advertising it.

And there are other ways to advertise this. Just make really good plans with tokenomics and bfg holders will sell this place by themselves as it would be their interest to get way more inflow.
2526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hit And Run Gambling - Can The House Be Beaten This way? on: January 29, 2023, 10:02:25 PM
Hi gamblers, it's a simple question I want to ask...

Remember it is said that, in gambling, the house always wins, I Want us to look at this two scenarios and tell if this are not actually a way to win/beat the house..

Imagine yourself as a new gambler who just joined a casino, played a few dollars and with luck on your side, you win money running into thousands of dollars, will withdrawing your money plus winnings from that casino, never to return there to play again, mean you have beaten that casino?

Secondly, imagine that on your first day of gambling, you gambled $200 and in the process, won money running into hundreds of thousands of dollars, you withdraw the money and start up your own business, and never returned to gambling again, isn't this one way to beat the house?
Well technically you win the house, but as odds are so little of you hitting jackpot t can't be considered a good tactic as most of the people would not win hundreds of thousands. But after said that, it might be the best tactic for all i know but you really need that luck on your side, as that's a long shot.

However i've been thinking this scenario. As some point i might save money just to try one big bet instead of several low ($2) ones. But to be honest in reality $2 are considered high for me atm
I've been trying out some slots with fun money to get the feel how often i would win and it miight take like hundreds of games to get one meaningful amount of money for one bet. And even with $100 play bets i haven't got a decent jackpot. Big ones yes but nothing life changing. So i am assuming it would be near miracle to win $200k.

But that's what we are here for. Luck and miracles so i am thinking of trying.

2527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: We lose on the long run through return percentage on: January 29, 2023, 07:20:39 PM

I just googled the return percentage of online casinos and saw different percentages that doesn't seem real. A slot machine can be written to pay out 98%, but its programmed to pay 90% and it's publicized that way to attract more people to play using that slot. Though one slot could be paying out that amount in the casino, yet my point is that no casino offers 100 percent payout that means if a slot pays out 94 percent for every 100 dollar bill spent on that machine the player losses 6$ to the casino. That is if you play longer times you'll lose, and we can almost never stay atop of the slot machines after long period of plays, unless you win a jackpot. Even if you win a huge amount, you can lose. They are numerous stories of people who won the jackpot and ended up spending the whole money back on the casino within a short period, 1 or 2 years, they lost the jackpot.

Isn't it?
Well math will be obviously slightly against you in long term betting in a long term, otherwise casinos wouldn't be profitable for their owners.
My way to gamble (if i play with slots) is to play few big bets and quit. I always decide the number beforehand. In other words, i am trusting my luck. And i know my luck is going to run out if i try some tactic where i try to outsmart the casino and play the long game.

So i either win or lose, i don't need to bother myself thinking if i would have lost or won the next bet when i have set my limit beforehand. I won't be chacing the jackpot. It will come to me if i am lucky enough.

I also think that the current cryptocurrency may be less in demand after banks create and start using CBDC.

I don't think you understand how different other cryptocurrencies are from CBDC. Sure, people can use that to send money, but it's not like it would be store of value. CBDC is just fiat money in a new form. It will be better and cheaper form but people won't be buying it like gold and speculating the value would rise. And depending on the platform it could end up being a farce. Although i am certain they will take their time and not push out product that isn't tested and ready.

And it wouldn't be money of the people. Also transactions are going to be reversable for that contract. That's goes without saying.
2529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of NFT on: January 29, 2023, 06:54:32 PM
The number of scam cases in the NFT project makes the NFT reputation decreases, especially since the 2022 DROP market is significant so that it makes it difficult for NFT to compete with other projects such as Metaverse, Web3, Defi and so on, this makes us have to always be aware of the market changes so that we must always monitor every day.
When everyone can just create their own money making machine it would be naive not to think that every scammer out there wouldn't take advantage on that.

But obviously this is not about NFT. They are just new vechile for the most popular scam in crypto. I find it weird why people are focusing on NFTs and not Bep-20 on this when when we have actual numbers about other crypto scams. Solidus Labs said that 350 new 'scam tokens' were created every day this year.

When we have billionaires losing huge amount of money every year, why not they use those money to help the poor rather than losing them
How can you give money you just lost to anyone? And it's not like you knew you are going to lose it beforehand. And if he doesn't sell the bottom he most likely make insanely much more in the bullrun again.

Better question would be just "why doesn't elon just give money to charity". And he has said he does it anonymously. I am not saying i believe him but it wouldn't be that weird if he spoke the truth, and i don't even like the guy.

And he has given it publicly as well, guite big sums actually: https://fortune.com/2022/02/15/elon-musk-5-7-billion-donation-weeks-after-asking-un-world-hunger/
Skeptics would say he is doing this to get tax cuts, which he obviously gets, but i think that was the single most coolest thing i've seen Elon done ever. And still elon makes me cringe when he tries to convince people he knows what he is talking about.
2531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why people are always interested in altcoins on: January 28, 2023, 11:58:51 PM
as we know, many people suggest investing in bitcoin because the risk is not too high.
-cut-
I don't even have to go further than this. This is the reason why people buy altcoins. You can only get high rewards by accepting high risk. Higher the risk, higher the possible rewards. There's obviously also higher risk to get rekt with them but that goes without saying.

People investing in small caps and mid caps also see that there must be a top when it comes to future marketcap of bitcoin.
It just can't keep up growing and growing. That wouldn't make any sense. They see more room with altcoins to grow. That's why many of them like to use terms like ETH killer, to point out how much they can still rise. And it's way more possible to find another 1000x altcoin then except that bitcoin would rise another 1000x any time soon.
2532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CBDC and Regulation discussion on: January 28, 2023, 11:53:59 PM
How can the government make sure that something like FTX (cooperate finance enriching themselves) never happened again? Crypto is presently not regulated and I don't see how regulation will fix this issue,
More oversight. More forced transparency from exchanges. This is just a matter of time and will happen in a whole different scale. Only thing prevented it happening until now was lack of interested to fund manpower for it.

my concern is the CBDC, I think it will work better as the real Stable coin, unlike Luna UST that team claimed was back by dollar but was not backed by anything... Wouldn't CBDC fixed this issue of fake USD backed stable coins?

You as a crypto adopter would you like to use CBDC if the pairs are available on all crypto exchanges as a way to store yourself some digital US Dollar?
This is whole another issue. Would i like to use isn't really the issue. When CBDC takes over fully, there's no other option to transfer fiat money. Or if there is, it will be so much more unreliable, slow and expensive compared to it. Like writing checks compered to current system. When CBDC comes. It isn't really up to you if you want to adopt it. You will. Just like you did wireless transactions and visa.

to my knowledge BetFury has a signature campaign thread in 3 periods. the first one only pays BFG token participants after that the second period pays participants 50/50 (BTC/BFG) and lastly campaign participants are given the opportunity to choose to be paid using BTC or BFG.

basically neither Betfury wants to pay using their native token BFG or BTC or any other crypto most importantly Betfury has a good aim to conduct marketing through campaigns in this forum to reach more new users
Then i stand corrected. I only saw the first one and i had mined enough tokens so i didn't pay attention at their promotions after that. Giving payment in BTC would be a whole different thing and i definitely would support that way. Not that they would need my support to proceed Smiley. And i don't think i would join the signature before i would know about their future plans but not giving any more BFG tokens to dilute staking would be a good gesture.

When you use scientific methods to check out ancient Israel and the Bible, you will find that the Bible is records, not fantasy. Written records by those who were there are stronger than scientific interpretations of present make-believe-evidence type of evidence.

The records that Moses wrote about 3500 years ago are believed by millions, maybe well over a billion. There is power in that. Many people have heard of Aristotle and Plato. But their writings can't compare in strength to those of Moses... who wrote under God's direction, and did miracles under God's direction.
That's not how scientific method works, that's how faith works. In religion you need to deny the new evidence to preserve faith. Unlike science, religion never adjust views based on evidence. That's the difference. In scientific method we would gladly change our views on any "gods" if there would be any evidence pointing at them.

And funny how you pick one magic book from history to follow. Why not greek religion? Why not Hindu? Why not Gilgamesh, Quran or Kalevala? Why not apocryphal texts from the bible? Why not ramblings of Charles Manson? Just random pages chosen by few ancient religious leaders. Funny how you don't see those as "evil elite". Even with their violent history and what they done with children. If you defend those actions don't claim to be any better then the monsters doing those acts.
2535  Other / Politics & Society / Re: About soceity on: January 28, 2023, 10:12:55 PM
You need to recognize what has happened in the whole world throughout all the time after the Creation.

Since mankind sinned about 7,500 years ago....
-cut-
You need to recognize that all scientific evidence points out that this never happened.
And you can't try to use reasoning based on some illogical magical book or a religion that's based on denial of obsevation and inability to change its views in front of evidence.
There can be no reasonable dialogue until you want to talk like an adult and choose reality.

Burning of Qur’an in Stockholm funded by journalist with Kremlin ties
Permit for demonstration at which anti-Islam provocateur burned Muslim holy book was paid for by far-right journalist linked to Moscow-backed media
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/27/burning-of-quran-in-stockholm-funded-by-journalist-with-kremlin-ties-sweden-nato-russia
Dictators like Erdoğan are not too fan of freedom of speech but I find it kind of worrisome that one guy who is using his constitutional rights to protest (no matter what you think of his actions or politics, protesting is his right) and that's the reason Erdoğan is using to ban Sweden from NATO.

It's now just a matter of time that one Nato-hater or Erdoğan-hater goes and burns a quran in Finland and we are in the same exact position as Sweden. I am amazed they haven't already done that. Or maybe they haven't been covered by press. Political cartoonists in here are already using their right to mock Erdoğan (Not muslims though, they just hate Erdoğan).

But i guess we don't need NATO as much as Sweden. USSR failed invading Finland before and now we are way more prepared to defend our nation.
2537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Power Slap League on: January 28, 2023, 09:17:39 PM
Who didn’t hear or watch at least one video about Dana white’s latest show which called The Power Slap League that started this new year of 2023, the rules of this sport are easy and simple where both competitors taking turns trying to knock each other out in order to win
There is a lot of talking about it lately about the low payout of Ufc boss to the participants of this tournament which goes to only 3200£ a Fight while he might be generating millions of dollars of it, But my topic here i want it to be about betting on this new sport and tournament which i still didn’t see any bookmaker announcing anything about this matter, And in my opinion it’s a lot of fan and as any fighting sport there is always bookmakers that will eventually include Power Slap League and allow people to bet on their favorite fighters.
This is something i wouldn't recommend anyone trying for even a laugh. I have a history in training self defence and i have been in rough situations. Even in "friendly" combat i've gotten head injury, broken ribs, bruises, broken joints and so far in those everything has healed.

Then i tried power slap for a laugh with my friend. I don't know why, maybe to probe manliness or impress girls. We managed just to look stupid. I panicked on third slap, turned my face away and my friend managed to hit on my ear. It broke my eardrum and got me loud tinnitus and hearing loss for life. It's one of the few things i really really regret trying. There's no such thing as silence for me anymore. If i had a time machine and one advice to give to younger me. Not ever trying power slap would be high on the list.

it would be a shame if Betfury didn't continue the signature campaign to stay here so it won't be forgotten and the traffic from new users to their website is increasing through the signature.
Betfury here is very good and is well known by many people here. It will be very sad if one day it is forgotten by the old players here. because currently there are many new casino platforms that provide signature campaigns that are still running today and I fear that in the future more new users will choose to enter and register at the new casino because they see the signature campaign advertisement.

well, although there are also many old casinos that are still active without running a signature campaign, but it would be better if the campaign is still running to attract more new users.
From what i remember their signature campaign was paid in BFG tokens and they were actually worth something at the time. Inflation of the price would mean they would need to raise the amount paid significantly in order to get good bounty hunters to work with them, and most likely that wouldn't do any good for already dropping token price. At the start it was understandable to give them as token wasn't even traded and it made people feel to be a part of something.

Other way would be paying with btc or eth. But as they didn't do it in the first place (if i remember correctly) i don't believe they would start doing it this time.

What is your best strategy for Dollar Cost Averaging, do you do it weekly, monthly?
What do you advice and why?
-cut-
I do it weekly, or when even i have extra money to invest i put some of it in crypto. But lenght of the intervals aren't really important. Important thing is that you are doing it constantly because you see that something is worth investing. That no matter the price now it's probably safe bet in the end.

I have bought crypto since start of 2014 and still keep buying it. Not saying what cryptos exactly as everyone should make their own choices.
But i have also sold it no matter the price really. As i am using it for living. I like to have my wealth i am using tied to crypto instead of fiat money. I am not sure if that's smart and in some cases it has not been, but i am a believer of it and price is comes secondary.
2540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Vs Cardano on: January 27, 2023, 11:41:56 PM
Cardano is a good technology as well but I think ETH will remain the first option of many and will stay as the top altcoins. This two has been competing since the launch of Cardano but ADA can’t handle the competition that much since it needs to surpass other altcoins first before reaching the level of ETH. Good updates can be a big help, I guess ADA should not aim to replace ETH anymore better to focus on its own technology and allows it to stays in the competition.
People are saying Cardano has a good technology, some even say that they are more scalable then eth but where they are basing that statement? Are everyone suddenly tech savvy in that level they can review the code? I am mostly listening to the both sides in this argument and while i am not understanding everything, i feel it's pretty obvious that Charles is overshilling and over simplyfying the problems and his statements on the subject aren't meant for other coders but for shilling ADA to investors. Which is a red flag and pretty much definiton of a populist.
