As for the nature of the trip, I hope they follow similar rules that Kashmir Hill followed on her week long experiment. No services allowed where someone accepts Bitcoin and delivers the service on behalf of the actual service. So services like "BitSpend" are a no-go.

They are going to have to use services like that I think.

PG, do you search every topic out individually, or do you stumble on this while searching other topics? What happens when Satoshi messages you and asks you to stop? Do you or have you found the truth for all?

Interesting question. I'd like to know too what you would do if Satoshi asked you to stop your epic hunt for his identity.

Basically any charity that accepts bitcoin will receive $1000 dollars in bitcoin. Currently run by Rassah and edd(possibly others, I don't know) of this forum.

Hey, doesn't this make the charity a candidate for Bitcoin 100 now?

That's $1000 to them unless I'm missing something.

Seven days a week
I get no sleep
Mt Gox makes me weep
As the price slowly seeps
These bitcoins I keep
Have lost the value I seek

2536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: British pubs accepting bitcoin. on: June 08, 2013, 05:07:47 PM
That's the first time I've ever genuinely considered wanting to go to a pub, those lot get my respect.

Going to a pub that has good food and good beer is one of lifes great pleasures I think. Why would you not want to go?

If I could find a way to get this organization to get bitpay on their site, do you think they could be a part of bitcoin 100?

http://www.santisookdogsandcats.org/en/

How simple is it for someone to get bitpay on there? They have paypal there already, so is setting up bitpay similar?

Would it make any sense for them to just accept Bitcoin as Bitcoin, instead of cashing it out? They can use it to pay for domain and web hosting, and other online services, and if the price keeps going up (instead of down  Angry )it can eventually be a nice emergency fund.

Here's the response from Adam at BIPS:

Quote
Hello Ed,

It's nice to speak with you again. BIPS converts Bitcoins to any local currency at
the equivalent USD rate posted on our website. When logged into an account
configured with the local currency, in this case Thai Baht, BIPS displays the
current buy/sell rate on the website in that currency. The minimum transfer is set
by the user with free transfers in Denmark and Canada. For Thailand our bank charges
an equivalent $7.5 USD fee for each transfer which recipients are responsible for as
well as any fees along the way (AKA Inter-bank fees). For this reason we allow
merchants and users to set their own minimum transfer levels to accommodate their
own preferences. We charge no additional banking fees at this time and have no plans
to do so. I believe we can find someone capable of assisting in setting up this
installation for no additional cost. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for
merchants to accept Bitcoins and as long as there aren't design elements outside of
installing the Bitcoin payment plugin required there will be no additional cost. If
I have missed something or there is anything else you would like to know please
don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,

Adam

Ok thank you for that. I think BIPS is what I will pursue with them then.

When I talk to them I'll definitely pose that as an option for them to consider. But from reading their blog it seems their pretty desperate for funds at the moment.
2539  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it time to get rid of Linux/JavaScript/Python kids? on: June 07, 2013, 07:12:49 PM
I've been trying to see what CIYAM can do for me.  Though, CIYAM is like a boxed templating engine.  No coding.  So...fail when it comes to thinking out of the box.

What I have created is something that is very new - there is no coding because there is no need for it - it is not *templating* in any sense that people are familiar with at all.

If you take a look at "Intentional Software" then you might begin to get a glimpse of what that CIYAM platform is about. It can actually create basically any "arbitrary" code you like without you needing to hand-code it.

Imagine templates that are combined with templates many levels deep and some can be as simple as a logical expression such as x = x + y. If you can grasp this then you'll begin to realise that CIYAM is absolutely *nothing* like anything you have seen before.

I'm not sure I quite understand what you're going for here. Which I guess is to be expected, since like you say, it's not like anything we've seen before. How is CIYAM different than say, Wordpress, or some other CMS? I did watch the slide show.
2540  Other / Off-topic / Re: Someone explain the Bitpay logo to me on: June 07, 2013, 04:28:31 PM
It is representative of bitcoin.   Most people cannot, and likely, will not ever understand it, we just want them to use it.

lol this should be a sig.
