The *puddle.com websites are a scam.

Withdraw threshold keeps increasing with the balance so make people continue visiting the website, balance will never be paid out.

Better computer, better Internet connection!

My computer is good, I would say it's more than average.. internet connection is average ( in my country ), it's 4mb/s.

Well can you make other downloads faster ? you cant , same goes for the Blockchain file . It's basically downloading files so you can't really speedup anything .
You can basically download the torrent file but that won't really increase the spped also download the Bootsrap.dat file isn't recommended anymore for the latest Bitcoin Core versions .
All you can do now is be patient and you will finally get there Grin

The problem is that I think it's so slow, slower than it might be. How big is the file? It says I have 1 year and about 30 weeks now..

That's the amount of history, but it doesn't take 1 year to download 1 year of transaction records. The blockchain is something like 90 GB at the moment. It will take at least until sometime tomorrow, possibly Tuesday.

Isn't it around 40GB?

https://blockchain.info/charts/blocks-size

I have a 130mb/s connection and a decent computer, it takes something like 3 or 4 days to sync the blockchain...

My bank offers that service, it is available in a bunch of banks in my country.

Don't you have something like this available at your bank?
2546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay wants people to use Paypal, but not to prevent scams on: July 19, 2015, 01:06:17 PM
Bitcoin has no consumer protection, eBay and Paypal are very big on consumer protection, it makes sence sellers cannot use bitcoin as a payment method on their platform.

They also do not permit cash and a bunch of other payment methods, this isn't something new...

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html

Yes and if ever the time comes that they'll start to accept bitcoin as a form of payment, eBay would be a scammer's paradise. Post fake stuff and takes away that bitcoin unless they offer an escrow-like service to hold the funds.

I think this is the bullshit reason they give, in reality it is all about fighting Bitcoin and liberty. Ebay, Paypal, credit cards, all about people control and big government. Being able to use Ebay with Bitcoin would boost adoption (and BTC usage) massively, and that is why they don't allow it.

I can prove that it is not about  consumer protection. You see, in Germany the law does not permit companies to force customers into a certain payment vehicle. So the forced usage of Paypal failed in court. People use wire transfers mostly, those are free of cost here and they are irreversible.

What happens if a seller scams someone? Is it necessary to reverse payments? That is what Ebay claims.

The reality is that it would also be possible to lock the offenders account, until the funds are paid back, but I have never in my life seen a sellers account being locked. Ebay customer service gives a fat rats ass if you get scammed, they say "you should have used paypal" and let the scammer continue. They never lock the scammers account....

Do you believe Ebay now? They are basically saying "we want you to use Painpal so we can reverse payments, but we never lock scammers accounts?"

They don't lock scammer accounts because they lose revenue doing so, they lose less revenue if they only reverse individual payments.

So ebay is a liar and reversible payments are not necessary at all for a fair marketplace.

They have no obligation to care about bitcoin adoption.

Bank accounts are not anonymous nor decentralized, transfers can always be reversed.

And what about their freedom and control of their platform, if they don't want whatever payment method to be used in their platform it's their choice, if they think it's what's best for their business, so be it.

I use Paypal and eBay since 2004 or so, I'm really satisfied with the all thing, never had a problem in all these years.

Etsy allows btc payments, the seller and buyer have to set it up, and you can only sell crafts, craft supplies, and vintage stuff on Etsy, but they have a how to accept btc page, so they are definitely friendly.

The problem with openbazzaar is that there isn't much traffic.

Frist time i hear something about Etsy I'll check it out, traffic in this type of sites is pretty much taken over by Amazon and Ebay Hopefully the openbazzaar new funding would bring something great to bitcoin users.

Etsy worth is like 3 billion dollars, it's a pretty big website...

But this is not new news? When did EBAY ever allow listings where the seller was willing to take btc as a payment. Im sure they have been taking down those listing for the better part of the last 3 years.

No this is not new news, I had a listing taken down 2 years ago for saying I wouold accept btc.

Obviously they know people are looking to use btc, but why would they allow listing to be hosted on their website, only to have people complete tranactions in btc and avoid their listing fees.  Similarly if they knew you were going to say send a check and avoid the fees, they wouldnt allow that.

Will be interesting to see if they try to put all this effort into actually allowing btc to be used as payment, rather than wasting all this effort banning its use.  They could really open up a HUGE potential for btc use as tey are already worldwide and the largest place to sell stuff online.

The simple option here is to allow Paypal accounts to be funded with bitcoin, I think they have much to gain with this, probably it's even better for them than current system only allowing credit and debit cards.

Randomness guarantees that even 1 million losses consecutively is possible. Smiley

Not only possible, but a certainty, one just have to play enough times and it's bound to happen at some point.

The biggest losing streak I had was 21x, if I had lose another one it would have busted my bank, I got luck.

6x losing streak is pretty fucking normal, don't know why you're bitching about it...

2556  Economy / Speculation / Re: Say Goodbye to Greece... on: July 18, 2015, 11:17:26 AM
And this in a nutshell is what is wrong with humanity. Tongue Individualistic, egocentric, lazy and irresponsible. I have nothing against you by the way, but in your sentence I recognize the attitude of many people. As long as they can live their own short life drinking beer, having sex and watching netflix it's all good. Who is left caring for the world we leave behind for our children? The baby boomers have left our generation with a huge burden of debt so their lives were good, now do we want to do the same to the generations to come after us? I'm truly hoping to see the current debt based economy collapse in this life. Not because I'm a pessimist and a doomer, but because the old has to die first before something new and better can be born. I also don't believe it will be the end of the world, just the end of a corrupt system that has engulfed the world and the beginning of something new. You can't have change without going through some pain first.

Not at all, I actually don't have children but people with children tend to care about the future and the world left for future generations.

I don't even think there's going to be a collapse, well, at least for the foreseeable future, like I said, eventually everything dies out, but change over time, little improvements that will add up to something new.

What I'm saying is, I'm not the kind of Orwell guy, I'm the Ghost in the Shell guy when it comes to predicting the future.
2557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can i block translactions under 0.0001 fee? on: July 18, 2015, 09:32:05 AM
im having lots of troubles, everyone who sends me under 0.0001 gets my wallet litteraly blocked, everytime i send btc it wont confirm for 48 hours and later that guy that sended me the btc (with fee that was under 0.0001) gets his money back

please help, how can i block those translactions on blockchain.info!?

You need to use a proper wallet for this, like Bitcoin Core, you activated Coin Control and when setting up a transaction you can simply ignore the unconfirmed output.

Let us know out it went.
2558  Economy / Speculation / Re: Say Goodbye to Greece... on: July 18, 2015, 09:26:58 AM
Why is the EU the bad guy here? Its well documented that Greece cooked their books in order to join the EU, the whole thing is their fault in the first place.
Yes, and they should pay the price on their own. But that's not how it works. Financial problems in one country are shared by all member states. It's socialism on an international level.

The ONLY way for a given country to survive in the long term is to leave and make some radical reforms that the EU would never permit. Just a question of who will wise up first.

They will never implement "radical reforms", people are used to a certain way of like, and there's no going back, being in a union also means being helped when there is trouble, I don't think Greece will collapse and have another fascist regime.

EU is the strongest or at least the biggest economy in the world, the guys in Brussels aren't going to let one of its members collapse...
Wasn't talking about greece. Obviously they will keep holding their hand out as long as there are handouts. I'm talking about the countries that still have a somewhat functional economy. Of course, one might argue that no such country exists.

And at this point it's no longer a matter of "letting". Countries will collapse one by one, or all together in the end.

Well, eventually everything will die away, I'm just hoping it will stay up long enough for I to live my life. Smiley
