Does this imply that you still intend to make builds after all?  From the tone of your PM it sounded like you couldn't be bothered.
I will try again in a few days if you will not do this earlier.

(EDIT: "A few days" might fall beyond the 104k block mark? )

How about we actually subscribe to the gitian philosophy and both make the builds? This way the community can know not to trust our builds if our signatures do not agree?  Wink  Ideally we should find more people willing to build, and have a larger group of signers.  (The more the merrier.)

If you add mapfilter to the game will you then make all the maps that are considered bad by this mapfilter to be invalid? Of course no.

I mean that we should move the coin/ground interaction and first frame death checks into the optional filters, and not do them at all, instead of have them done-but-ignored like originally, when verifying proof.  (From some quick testing, this also appears to speed up initial sync slightly.  Bonus!)
I would be willing to build the projects but I don't have the right dependencies installed. I need to install GLEW and glfb3 or something but I don't know how to get them.
I got them installed the first time I installed ubuntu but it didn't have enough space (only 25GB) so I had to make the partition bigger (125 GB) and reinstall it.
The "backup" of all of the packages I had installed didn't work because I think it was for a different version of Linux but the person didn't say.

Edit: Nevermind, I just installed glew and glfw-3.0.4 and now I can compile the game. I wonder if I can get any coins on the real net.

Edit 2: Wow, someone is still on the old client. When I started syncing it was out of 8001. That means the the first person I connected to was on the old client, right?

Edit 3:

I can successfully build the wallet! But it is with Qt creator and only for linux. Would I still be of help?

You guys know that this coin isn't actually human mineable?
It says "part POW, part human mining" but it really is just full POW with half of the coins being given away for playing games (technically not mining).

I don't want to become the enemy or anything. Just saying. Smiley

Well all the open bounties is also part of the human mining. We tip for new features and services for the coin, such as the paperwallet generator and the facebook tip app. The games are just another form to get people involved who cannot provide a service, but they provide advertisement with their involvement because they have GOODcoin in their name when they participate.
I see what you're saying, but it isn't actually "mining". Its just coins being  paid to people for their advertising or services.
If it was mining, it would be recorded in the blockchain.
See what I mean?

That's not something that we can't have,  just have to find someone to work on it but hard to hire when bozo dumpers just killed the buy orders wall so now gotta grow value again or fundraiser for funds
When I say recorded in the blockchain, I mean, the rewards from the game make the blockchain. Like Huntercoin or MotoCoin. Where it is impossible to cheat (you need to have valid moves or whatever secures the reward) and everyone can check what you did (the moves you used) to get your reward.

EDIT: Nevermind, false alarm.  Embarrassed

EDIT2: Nevermind again, I think I was right the first time.  Master looks to have an issue right now.  Can someone else try a clean sync from genesis block with a build?  From here a new sync gets stuck after block 24975, failing the proof on 24976.

Ok clean syncing right now with standard client.

P.S. How come the progress bar doesn't work? That seems to happen to most other coins.

Edit: Currently 40000 of 100000 blocks.
Will update as I go.

By 'standard client' what do you mean?  If you didn't compile it from the master branch on the github then it isn't really testing what we need to test.  We know the existing build is working fine already  Smiley

Oh, I thought there was a problem with the normal client. Well I'm stupid as I could have just looked at how many blocks we had. Wow, I even wrote 40000 of 100000 and you said it stopped on 24975.

Can you please compile the master branch for linux of windows (x64)? I know it is just a testnet type of thing but I want it anyway. Did you say it had a map filter? If it does, I really want it.
2544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOTO] Motocoin on: July 11, 2014, 07:14:52 AM
WilliamLie has said in PM basically that he is giving up on building.
That is a real shame for this coin. Oh well.
It looks like you are our new dev! You seemed to be doing more work than the dev was doing anyway.

Can someone please compile a windows x64 mapfilter? I really want this to see if I can get anything. I think with a fall-through map, I can.

Remember when this was called "Proof of Thought"?
Fun times. Smiley

I dunno it has had me thinking pretty hard lately
It would be too. Smiley I guess I just asked you to think even more. Well, probably just copy and paste, and wait a few minutes for your computer to compile the program but still. Smiley

I hope my GPU gets repaired today so I can mine tomorrow.

Make total POW coins 1 000 000 (1 Million) and you'll have a good coin.

Another coin claiming "human mining" when what they really mean is just a giveaway from their (massive) premine stash...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=578963.0

The fact that human mining has become enough of a buzzword that scam-coins (and even some confused nonscam coins?) are latching onto it left and right is a very positive sign for the human mining concept!
True. I have been involved with this coin a little bit, I have ~3000.
Do you guys think they'll listen to me if I tell them to take that out of the ANN?

They say "part POW part human mining" but it really is just full POW with half of the coins given away slowly.

-snip-
Well, I found my warrant card from Gigabyte and it lasts 3 years. I think I got it around January this year so i'm good.
Nobody can find out how the graphics card got bad, nobody!! If you RMA it just say it crashes when gaming.

Anyway, have you mined on the card? I doubt oclvanitygen had anything to do with your card, UNLESS you ran it for hours and hours without your card increasing the fanspeed(or you doing it manually) and THUS it overheated.

It might have been defect from the start. I wouldnt worry about it. Even if you tell them you used vanitygen, its not like you OCd the card with it, so you are within warranty. You can run any software you want on your hardware. At least for now Wink
But unless you want to explain what vanitygen is and what bitcoin is and what all of that has to do with your GPU, tell them you played "fancy modern game X" and it stoped working.
Yep. I'll say I played DayZ standalone.

Damn, my graphics card stopped working and now the framereate is crap for motocoin. I hope chainging igpu to have 1gb of memory helps.
I hope I can still play properly when this patch arrives.

Will the time be reset back to 60 or will it continue going down from whatever we are at right now?
Thanks guys.

You are heading for more disaster if you try to fiddle with flashing. RMA the card.

Perfect answer. OP, you didn't flash the BIOS, so that has nothing to do with a bricked card after a failed BIOS flash.
Just take it to the nearest computer store and pay a few bucks, or RMA the card for free.
I'm 14 and my parents would kill me if they found out about the broken card. Sad
Do you think it would it cost a lot to fix?

Would I be able to RMA the card? Well I guess using oclvanitygen doesn't void the warranty or anything. So I should be able to get a replacement?

Would anyone be able to tell if I used oclvanitygen in any way? (apart from having the software on my HDD)
So I could just make up an excuse that I was playing DayZ or something and it crashed?

Your parents are going to kill you because a video card died?  It should be under warranty unless you try something silly like trying to flash firmware as noted above.

Contact the manufacturer on their website, usually they have a form.  Fill it out and usually in 24 hours they give you instructions.  Mail it back for $10.
So my video card dying has nothing to do with oclvanitygen?

Done with map changes.  Shouldn't ever get stuck now, and should also still pick up new work as it comes in.

Also, I quickly bound the map filter options to a key so you can select between no map filtering, and the two map filters minim1ner released.

However, I just realized that the secondary work code in motogame got lost somewhere during the other patches.  I'm going to have to work that back in very quickly. Noone build against master right now! :\
What was the url to your master branch again?

Either you blew a fuse and it will reset after ~1 hour or...
Oh, I totally forgot to tell you; The fan spins and lights on the GPU work. Does that still mean a blown fuse and it should be working okay tomorrow?

Oh. I didn't see that you changed to the onboard GPU.
When you were doing the vanity thing, did you notice the fan speed go abnormally high? e1ghtSpace should be right, something got burnt or blown off, probably. Test it with another PC or take it to a nearby computer store.
The vanity thing didn't even start.

It just said "Compiling Kernel..."
Then changed to "Compiling Kernel... Done!"
Then the whole computer's power cut off. Nothing about mining.
But the Graphics Card's fan spins while my computer is on.

But my computer doesn't even detect anything at all.
I tried reseating it as well.

I'm going to try this: http://www.overclock.net/t/593427/how-to-unbrick-your-bricked-graphics-card-fix-a-failed-bios-flash
