2541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO] ANN Zensports Peer-to-Peer Sports Betting on: August 25, 2020, 03:15:37 PM
Wow, after almost 2 years this project becomes alive again in this forum. Is that because of their current sig campaign? The devs should really come to this thread and update the community about their current progress and it seems that their sportsbetting site is already fully operational. Just right timing that sports events are coming live again.

I have checked their site due to their current signature campaign but sadly this is only an app and can only be accessed through app installation. Hopefully they consider on making a website platform
but im not saying that their current development is bad.Its just a personal preference though.

Good luck on Zensports team.. As suggested they should really be active on this forum if they do really like for some recognition.

I do believe that the offline apps are much better for the betting , online betting is good but at the same time the app is :

1. More secure
2. You can keep all the info. With you
3. It's somehow more organised
4. Regular updates are on time and you can keep receiving the notifications every now and then
5. Interaction is more real

Much more , As for me I do prefer the betting to be offline but if users will have an option it would not only increase the reach of the casino but there will be even more people engaging in the same.
2542  Economy / Economics / Re: Monkeys: Don't do trend analysis! (with poll) on: August 25, 2020, 12:04:51 PM
Yes but only about 1 second in advance.
Why one second?

Random theories are just more or less lucky guesses, I'd rather be researching into an asset I want to invest in, be it stocks or cryptocurrency, to get an understanding of the market and even if not for the immediate profits, but so I'll be productive in that field in the long term. That being said, true random guesses could give you profits some time, but if you learn all there is about an investment market, you can always make profits for a lifetime.
What makes you different than professional analysts whose beaten by darts?

it says you cannot predict it using past data and two things are different. It says one cannot outperform the market without assuming "additional risk" this risk is called un systematic often referred to as Beta. Trader doesn't only predicts the direction of the market but along with that ascertains the risk of that trade and reward which he is willing to take.
And how do we calculate individual stock's beta?

Bur here the theory that you have suggested is something that i have serious doubts on, since this is very weird and twisted
...
One experiment showing results opposite to the one the theory can kill the theory instantly , even if it has years of backing up and data.
Lol weird and twisted?! Read this paper's conclusion mate Grin

Thank you for the suggestion , now let us analyze what the main conclusion is:

Quote
We examine the value of investment advice given monthly by investment analysts in the “Investment Dartboard
Column” of the Wall Street Journal. The portfolio thus formed is compared with another portfolio which consists of
stocks selected at random. The results indicate that the pros portfolio generates significant positive abnormal return on the
day of publication in the WSJ. However, upon comparison of this portfolio with the dart portfolio, the pros portfolio
outperforms the dart portfolio only when the holding period is one week or less. For holding periods longer than a week,
the pros portfolio does not perform better than the portfolio of random picks. The pros portfolio, in fact, generates significant negative abnormal returns over the longer holding period intervals. Therefore, a profitable opportunity can be
realized by going short on the buy recommendation and/or long on the sell recommendation over the six-month
investment horizon.
This leads us to believe that the publicity effect, is potent only in the short-term which then lends support to a moral
hazard problem encountered by investment professionals. In other words, the effect of the recommendation in the long-
run is transitory.

I do strongly oppose animal experimentation.
You think they like throwing darts?

Secondly conclusion is like : A wannabe scientist , not being able to express what he did and what he intends to use it for.

Very easily he could have used random generator since the whole point was putting values up and selecting randomly.

Even if its true (which is absurd) its not for us long time holders.
2543  Economy / Economics / Re: The number of jobless people has crossed one million in US - worrying sign? on: August 25, 2020, 09:33:40 AM
I was scrolling through the news and suddenly read that the number (claims) of jobless people in US had crossed 1.1 million, and in my personal opinion this is bad news for the US economy which is already struggling to bounce back from Covid19 effects.

Furthermore the Democrats have continued to blame Trump for the economic mess that US is currently facing, but the voters yet believe in his ability to stabilise the economy.

What do you’ll think is it right to say that the US V shaped economy won’t recover this year, or it’s only matter of few months before it recovers?.

Quote

While polls suggest that voter approval of his handling of the economy remains relatively strong, Democrats are blaming him for the crisis.

Harsh Reality:

US is a developed nation and therefore if the situation there is like that its even worse in other nations.

At the same time the real account is much worse , there are many more people without a job even in the US alone .

Its not just a warning sign but its even worse , we have been dealing with this since a lot of time but this time due to pandemic the situation is dire.

*Let us consider those small nations where people are dying of hunger and joblessness way before pandemic , the media is never focusing on those nations

*There are countries there have been cases of people not being able to afford even medical care , let alone support their families

*Hospitals and big businesses are taking unreasonable amount from the people causing them to turn to traditional medicines which might not only give fake hopes but also cause harm in some cases.

This is not a red sign
Its a sign that the whole government needs to be changed
The whole economy needs a reset

2544  Economy / Economics / Re: Monkeys: Don't do trend analysis! (with poll) on: August 25, 2020, 07:26:29 AM

Reading your article reminded me of the movie :
Wolf of the wall street

The person there said how: No One can predict what is going to happen to the stocks , literally no one. (Therefore all these predictions were a sham)

I do understand that there are certain factors that can change the way price changes like:

Bitcoins being banned by some country
Mining farms being seized

Etc...

These numerous news can help us predict the bitcoin movement to an extent because its obvious , therefore i do believe that we can do that to an extent for sure . But predicting it point to point takes a lot of time and effort ( even luck) therefore is dissolute for longer term.

Bur here the theory that you have suggested is something that i have serious doubts on, since this is very weird and twisted , I do believe that this Random walk theory might be applicable in some things , but for sure not here , plus i don't think Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies can be predicted like this.

You should know on thing about scientific experiments:
One experiment showing results opposite to the one the theory can kill the theory instantly , even if it has years of backing up and data.
2545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deepak Chopra (co-author of Super Brain) is now into blockchain! on: August 24, 2020, 06:34:06 PM
I never knew that Super Brain co-author Deepak Chopra is now into blockchain. I had a paperback copy of the Super Brain book which I bought it from a local bookstore years ago.

Source: https://blockchain.news/news/deepak-chopra-partners-hedera-hashgraph-leverage-blockchain-covid-19-mental-health-support

I honestly think that his advocacy towards supporting the mental health of COVID-19 patients along with Hedera Hashgraph by leveraging blockchain is gonna be great. It's for the benefit of all, especially that the numbers are steadily rising around the world.

What are your thoughts on this guys?

See what the man is and what the man believes we cannot question but right now if he is trying to help the bitcoin community to spread the word , then I do think that its only good for us , there are people who follow him (don't know why) but yes they do.

Let us remember the fact that :

No publicity is bad publicity ( well works in this case)

I do believe that Bitcoins can help people mentally in the following way:

Most of the time the government is too dominating over the market , which inturn makes the normal people feel powerless , they don't own their money, therefore I do feel that it actually is good for them to know that they do have power over something here.
2546  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The best way to convert Bitcoin into real money on: August 24, 2020, 12:02:28 PM
Hello

I do think you are unaware of the wallets like :
Zebpay

They are offline wallets which are offering the services like buy/sell. Provides a trading platform and at the same time it does enable users to actually send money to their own specific banks with cost as low as 0.13$ . I have been using localbitcoins , but unfortunately you do have to pay the wallet_localbitcoin wallet_service charges, which does account for a lot as compared to what you are using there.

Its not a wallet perse but its a trading platform at the same time it does serve as a secure wallet , the only downside is there is actually no concept of privacy. You have to submit all your documents , which I don't mind since transactions are valid and considered legal by the law.

At the same you should form your own local community where you can buy/sell bitcoins without any problem. The people you do know about and are living near you , it would not only boost the popularity but would also help you and the people involved .
2547  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is it necessary to create an ANN thread? on: August 23, 2020, 04:31:43 PM
I just wanted to ask most of the users lately are asking if a certain casino is legitimate or not and some are asking why a crypto based casino does not open an Announcement thread here on the forum. Is it really necessary that a crypto casino or sports betting website needed to open an Announcement thread here?

If a gambling site is investing so much time and effort in engaging with the people by opening a thread and at the same time listening to their problems and such , people will obviously tend to favour those sites .

What you have to do is to actually invest a little time here which would not only mean you would have introduced you to the community but also give the people a chance to actually know you.

Why shouldn't you do it ?
You do have an option there .. you definitely can skip this part but if writing here does mean you can go to a wider audience wouldn't it be really great for you ?

By using the feedback from the users you can actually help create a better environment for everyone , that is going to mutually benefit you the most as a new gambling site.
2548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New User - Problems Understanding Bitcoins Validity on: August 23, 2020, 04:04:59 PM
Please help me understand where I went wrong.  Huh

Bought $200 USD of Bitcoin for online gambling. Used debit card. "Simplex" appeared online banking account. Bank account immediately blocked. Forced to talk to bank representative to remove hold. Questions about WHY I was using Simplex. It was obvious the bank knows Simplex = Bitcoin.

After this hassle (never-mind setting up the wallet with passwords) I payed a 30% commission for something called a "mining fee". This took 1+ hour to receive. Missed my bet. Wanted to put more money on gambling (UFC MMA fighting) last night. Used same bitcoin broker for another $200 USD. This time they demanded copies of my passport or US Drivers license!

1) That's an invasion of privacy.

Privacy invasion defeats the purpose of bitcoin yes?  I was told that Bitcoin is an anonymous form of currency with better rates then the bank.  There is no privacy with a debit card let alone a passport or Drivers license. I paid 30% mining commission to use my bitcoins! It look 1+ hour to deposit in my wallet!

1)   Less privacy than the bank
2)   Insane 30% commission
3)     Longer wait to get your money

What is the point of using Bitcoins with huge privacy invasions? And a 30% commission mining fee?

Is there something I'm missing here ?

Hello
I do think you have to understand the whole concept of bitcoins , it does take away the middle man as a whole , therefore if you do have someone asking for a 30% commission to deposit some bitcoins in a place where you can gamble online.

You have to just set up your wallet , after that just deposit the amount in the gambling site , most of the times if you look clearly for the right site , you would be able to see there are sites with even gives you bonuses on the deposit.

Find the right site for you
Handle your own bitcoins
Get started on a Bitcoin wallet
Don't worry about banks , just worry about laws in your country if it's legal then I do think you have nothing to worry about and neither does the bank does have any right to block the account like this.

You can even do P2P transactions , make your local community where you guys can buy/sell bitcoins with people you know locally this have helped me a LOT. I did not give any commission or anything like that and it was really good for the community + for me personally.

Put Government has been heavily controlling the bitcoins and therefore I don't think you will be able to get away with submitting the personal documents.
2549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting: how much knowledge is too much on: August 23, 2020, 09:25:38 AM
I've been experimenting with betting on sports, and for now I don't see a difference between when I'm making an educated bet and just betting blindly looking only at the odds. It hasn't been long, however, so I'll keep experimenting.
My question is about a related matter. When I've asked in a different thread what is required to become a good bettor, many have mentioned that knowing the games, the teams and things like that is essential. But I'm sure there's a certain limit to this flow of information, and when this limit is reached, it's not useful and is even potentially harmful for making the decision. If a person is betting on a soccer match and reads about every match of every person on every team, plus weather forecast, plus research on home advantage etc., the amount of information can be overwhelming and probably not that important or useful to bet on the outcome a particular match. What do you think: is there a rule that would help not to drown in information but only focus on what is helpful? Or is it 'the more, the better' in your opinion?

The thing is most of the times when you are engaging in sports Betting and you are really good at it, you do know each and every player , you literally stalk them , the team , the coach , what they are going through , the allegations .

That's a lot of hardwork literally.

I don't think any knowledge can be termed overwhelming until and unless you are getting affected by it. Contrary to popular belief I do think the more you know the better , but at the same time you have to remember that *It's a bet* , it can play out according to you and it cannot.

First we have to look into the basics:

Know your team
Know your players

That would be the very basic strategy , if someone is going to ask you to go Messi vs Ronaldo , most people would be very frizzy about the decision , what you need to do is to actually see how their game is going through this season..

So I don't really think it's much to think about , just try , get updated with each and everything that's going on in the sports industry itself.
2550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Holders have an opportunity to earn interest due to cred partnership on: August 22, 2020, 07:39:10 PM
Bitcoin Holders can earn interest following the cred partnership , which was supposed to be Integrated with bitcoin.com , now we are not talking about the site , but the wallet itself , it has been downloaded 11 million times , now for the people out there who are not good with trading and tend to loose a foot while doing that , this might be the perfect opportunity.

The interest can also be credited to the person through stable coins and other cryptocurrencies.

A powerful statement :
Quote
Cred’s partnership with Bitcoin.com proves that Bitcoin innovation doesn’t have to occur at the protocol level. By building lending capabilities directly into the Bitcoin.com Wallet, we’ve provided a way for BTC and BCH holders to earn an attractive ROI, while operating within a familiar and secure environment

But again protocol improvement can always be in the line after this . I am certainly aware that we do have a lot of lending platforms but this time coming from Bitcoin.com wallet is something that would gain support of millions.
source

Would you lend your Bitcoins ?
+ For the team for giving opportunity to millions of holders here at the comfort of their own wallets.

Edit: Thank you for letting me know about Roger Ver Scam , as far as I know the investigation was done but apparently the guy said :
Quote
Crypto entrepreneur Roger Ver has distanced himself from the unfolding fraud allegations surrounding the BitClub Network. Four members of the suspected Ponzi scheme were this week arrested by US authorities as prosecutors investigate what they allege is a $722m global scam.

Honestly if he was involved then of course this is just another matter , other than that I do think I will keep you guys posted and try out for myself if this indeed is a scam or not .

Please be careful 😸
2551  Other / Archival / Re: The Ultimate Online Slots Guide on: August 22, 2020, 04:22:10 PM
Yes, it is a good guide, but I find it strange that it didn't mentioned about

(1) near miss or near hit

this is one element that really makes slots exciting, as least to me or sort of addicting. You push the spin and you almost hit a big win or even a jackpot but in the end you are one reel short. I'm sure all slot machine players here have seen it, but I don't know what is the collective effect on it, perhaps it may vary from person to person.

Fact:

See the thing is When we talk about Near miss and Near Hit , most of the times it's being integrated in the code itself to make sure that players engage more in the game causing the adrenaline to shoot up.

- - - -

Funny thing is even though we are well aware of this fact we still very easily play right into the hands of the casinos .

- - - -

There is actually an effect called *The near miss effect* which has been targeted by many authors to blame the excess usage and for the addiction in the gambling.

There have even been experimental analysis :

2552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need suggestion for making a video on bitcoin on: August 22, 2020, 11:24:38 AM
I have planned to create a video on bitcoin in my local language in order to create awareness among local users. Although there are a lot of videos on bitcoin in my local language, none of them are correct or shared right information. Most of them are misleading which is a great threat towards the adoption here in my local.
So, I thought to stand up and create video with useful and right information. I have checked most of the videos and created a list of all the misleading information. Planned to discuss on these matters. However, I need your suggestion. I want to make a killing video which will be the best one in my local language so that everyone can get the correct information.
For your info, I'm not a youtuber, have not created much professional video. I have talked with one of my friends for making my video more impressive.
So, where can I start? What should I give priority?
Here's the plan-
1. Will share a clear idea of what bitcoin is.
2. Will discuss about the technical part as much as possible (As much as need to learn as an user).
3. Will bring the misleading information and correct them.
4. Will talk about the benefits of using it.
5. Will show some real adoptions worldwide.
What do you think? Will it be enough or I should talk about more?

I do think you should start the video by saying how during the pandemic the banks and all are at a stage where they can break anytime , how people like Warren Buffet are thinking of selling their stocks , how the Gold is climbing so high that it's technically impossible for a common man to invest in something that might be the solution , that might be the way to make sure that when these markets go down , you don't go down with them.

There are already many good videos online , what you have to do is to attract now only potential investors but also the economists , the common man , it's going to be a hard task , but at the same time you can even share the stories of people who are Preety successful because of bitcoins.

It's not always the people who Invested in bitcoins when it first started but even the people who are right now looking for expanding their businesses worldwide and don't have to worry about waiting days to get the approval of the banks.

-.-

Honesty I do think if bitcoins were accepted more widely , our situation will improve tons , the thing is if my college started accepting Bitcoins as a payment for the fee , my parents won't have to spend like 100$ to make sure it reaches them then wait for like 10 days for an international transfer.

Look for something that the audience can connect with and engage them .
Take care
Best of luck
2553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Buy Bitcoins before the upcoming banking crisis states author of Rich Dad Poor D on: August 22, 2020, 07:58:26 AM

The author of *Rich Dad Poor Dad* has apparently publicly
supported the Bitcoins and at the same time he is giving advice to people to buy bitcoins before the upcoming banking crisis .

Now banks are in a really bad position right now , inflation rates are being apparently pushed by Fed , loans are rising , people are struggling to pay the debt off.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/buy-bitcoin-before-major-banking-crisis-rich-dad-poor-dad-author

-According to him Warren Buffet apparently have chosen  to dump the stocks , which will inturn cause the value to fall drastically , affecting the economic situation negatively.

-At the same time people are aware fo the fact that dollar is hitting lows , which would eventually be bad for the whole world , right now what we are seeing is a bubble waiting to burst .

-Having investments like Gold , Silver , Bitcoins would not only give the person a edge over the system , but their assets can also be protected.

........

What do you guys think ?
Is the decision worth it ?
2554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Novogratz and Dave Portnoy Say Buy Bitcoin and Not Gold on: August 21, 2020, 05:12:42 PM
Honesty one should never even compare these two things , yes both of them are Investments but at the same time they do sit on the opposite side of the spectrum.

If a person is genuinely looking to invest in something like Gold or Bitcoins , they need to ask themselves one thing :

Are they looking for a long term or a short term investment?

If they are looking for a long term investment , I do think the right thing to do is go for the bitcoins , but for the short term , the best thing to do would be Gold , since it would not decrease that much in price if encashing the investment is needed.

But then again there are stock companies offering Virtual Gold , it does give you limited freedom though. Bitcoins on the other hand completely eleminate the concept of a middle man and the concept of power , which gives people more freedom .

Bitcoins are the Gold of the Crypto world
2555  Economy / Economics / Re: The Fed is talking about letting the inflation rate rise above its 2% target. on: August 21, 2020, 09:53:09 AM
https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-07-17/the-fed-is-setting-the-stage-for-a-major-policy-change

"Having learned a hard lesson in the last recovery — don’t tighten monetary policy too early"

"In practice, that means the Fed will not just emphasize actual inflation over forecasted inflation, but will also attempt to push the inflate rate above its 2% target. "

basically the article says the fed has some missed time to make up for since we had a period of lower than 2% inflation, well need say for example 3% inflation to make up for that lost infation.

money printer go brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Until and unless there is actually a straight statement from the Fed we cannot decide what the Government is planning and therefore the most we can do is to consider looking at the market from different perspectives , right now what am able to see is that this article does not prove that this is what they are going for , at the same time if Inflation rises , it would only benefit the large industries , the businesses , banks , the people will be unfortunately in a big problem which might even risk management of the country as a whole.

Quote
Why worry about slightly overshooting 2% on the upside if it could mitigate the risk of cutting the recovery short?

I do believe that it could affect the population below the Poverty line , which are already being affected due to COVID-19 , since they are not even registered at the same time healthcare and such is just a dream for most.

Therefore I do believe that even 1-2% excess inflation is dangerous , not for us but for the people who are going to be affected by it drastically.

At the same time , it is natural to worry about inflation with time , since most of the times it's going to increase with time but , if the feds are trying to increase it even to a small extent I do think they should think twice about their decision or actions.

I would like to end it with a quote from the author where he very nicely explained the problems in few lines:

Quote
Inflation is and has been a highly debated phenomenon in economics. ... Many economists, businessmen, and politicians maintain that moderate inflation levels are needed to drive consumption, assuming that higher levels of spending are crucial for economic growth.

Plus the reason I did use the word *Government* instead of the Fed is because they are integrated very strongly with each other and most of the times their actions do benefit both parties , its like a whole lot of things that we don't know about .

2558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Restaurant convert entire savings to Bitcoin on: August 20, 2020, 09:41:40 AM
According to the tweet https://twitter.com/TheRealTahinis/status/1295770434349281281. Tahinis, A Canada-based Middle Eastern restaurant has converted all their entire savings to bitcoin.

The decision to turn the cash holdings to cryptocurrencies emerged in the March crash and as the Canadian government started to offer aid services to companies struggling to stay open owing to the pandemic.

With the U.S. and Canada printing money to support their crippled economies, Tahini's owner Omar Hamam began to see the financial system as "a play of tic tac toe being played right now, and music will halt and some people would be left out."

Hamam said he was worried that handouts and money printing would devalue the economy of the fiat. "It was clear to us that cash did not have the same appeal," he added. "In the end, with all the extra currency floating in the market, the capital will be worthless."

He decided to convert the business's savings to Bitcoin as it "gives a much viable choice to saving cash." He said they would proceed to use Bitcoin as a reserve asset — "perhaps permanently if we don't need fiat."

I do believe that the person was thorough with the news of gold being a bad investment in 2020 , most of these Investors are now looking for other options , stock market is down and therefore it is a good time to buy but then again there are many problems in that Sector too and discussing it is another topic.

Right now what we need to know is :

Due to strong integration of bitcoins with economy and the Government, the people are giving positive response towards the cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoins is not only serving as a option in terms of investment but it's also helping many people to expand their businesses.

Quote
Cryptocurrency is taxed in Canada as either capital gains or as income tax, depending on whether your activity with cryptocurrency is considered to be as a business or not. 100% of business income is taxable, whereas only 50% of capital gains are taxable

The owners will not only be able to save 50% taxes , but at the same time the future of Bitcoins is promising.

_*_

But no matter what I don't think this idea is really wise , since they would have to wait for a while to encash if needed in a hurry because the price changes every second.

Then again *you don't loose anything until and unless you decide to encash*

They have to apply the HODL strategy if they want to actually get through with this decision.
