2561  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 28nm ** 1T ** 900W【JingTian miner】 in production !!! on: March 06, 2014, 08:18:11 PM
QuestionTime, for all we know Bitmine was out of cash and had dud chips, I know my first batch A1s I got won't come alive until 850mv, so how do we know they didn't do an IP deal with the chip manufacturer to produce a more efficient 2nd batch? Until someone gets a court judgment banning the import of Chinese A1's it's not a crime.

Don't need a court judgement for Customs / Border Protection to seize counterfeit or pirated goods. In some jurisdictions, importing and/or possession of such goods is considered a criminal offence.

On another note, potential customers should consider if there could be issues with their supply of the ASIC chip. GlobalFoundries and similar would be very hesitant to produce product where there is ambiguity regarding IP rights. Sure, the Chinese assemblers may be able to deliver initially, but when they run out of chips a lot of customers are going to be left holding the bag if they don't have their own supply of chips.

Bullshit someone would have to win a court judgement before that happened. Otherwise the same could just be done to Bitmine. They have to PROVE that there are fake/Stolen/counterfeit versions of their proprietary protected IP. He'll they have to prove they actually have any Ip claim First!

Until this happens its game on.

we have another way for bitcoin miner. OEM, You buy chipset, we just do EMS. it can help to reduce cost.

Do you mean you will sell the boards alone fully populated or that you just provide the chipset/boards and buyers would have to purchase ASICs to populate?

Or do you mean just the boards + controller without the case/psu etc to cut down on cost?

Thats what I was trying to say, barebones boards, would you need a controller I thought it used a Rpi as a controller?

Buyers would have to supply the ASIC chips as the chips are proprietary tech.

Whats the difference between supplying entire miners WITH the chips or boards WITH the chips.

As the the proprietary tech, do you mean bitmine? Its only their word on it, and their word isn't exactly good round these parts these days according to their customers.

I would have thought that if Bitmine were so full of ownership of the A1 chips then they would have been able to legally stop these guys dead in their tracks from manufacturing or selling chips based on their proprietary tech. As that hasn't happened yet I'm reluctant to believe either party.

If they're getting the chips from bitmine, no problems.

I would prefer to err on the side of caution, the possible few dollars profit really isn't worth it. More so if you've already got a few miners you'd rather not have to justify why they shouldn't also be seized or destroyed.

Then err on the side of caution, but don't go around accusing unless you have proof, plus what's your interest in all this anyway?

Plus, to make this an even handed comment, even if Bitmine can prove that someone stole their IP how are they going to know if you have one?

edgar you sound like a mug. cryptoware offer a top notch service for us customers in the UK and beyond!

No a mug is someone who pays £1150 for a product that costs £520 inc VAT and delivery from the manufacturer.

I have a tracking number, so *something* is being sent to me, for what it's worth.
The *something* is a JTminer. Can't wait for your review.   Smiley

Why would ckolivas incriminate himself?

Why would he be incriminating himself?

'tape out' completed  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
this was totally unexpected, now I'm excited  Cheesy

Joeventura and his insider information has been wrong with his predictions that there wasn't going to be a physical miner, and I was actually starting to beleive him.

So how long does it take to slice and package wafers?  Anyone?

ok ok you can come back Orama...  this is good news and we can all be friends again  Tongue Kiss

I dont know where you read that I predicted there would never be a physical miner, my prediction was that they would make everyone KNCCloud customers because the neptunes would not arrive in time and they would ultimately be delivered to KNCcloud instead of the customers.

And anyone who owns a calendar can see that the prediction I made is actually very likely.

But you don't have to switch to cloud if your Neptune is late. KnC already said that: "Over the next few months we are bringing online enough hashing power to make sure that any delay in the Neptune timeline will be compensated with a completely free hosted hashing packages to all fully paid customers."

Compensated, so if I was a neptune owner I'd keep my order, and take the compensation until the order is ready to ship.

There is an "in addition" to the compensation package, which is to switch totally to a cloud product if you so wish, but you don't have to take it up, you can just cloud mine until your hardware arrives.

Another take on the TapeOut info released is that like in the past, they taped out some weeks ago and wanted to be sure that it went well and passed all tests before announcing it, saving them the problem of announcing the tapeout and then finding problems that required a respin.

2570  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: KnC Neptune Shipping Speculation (Existing Customers Order) on: March 06, 2014, 12:42:35 AM
I am over in Sweden every few months and whilst I am not a customer and never will be I am disgusted by KNC's treatment of hundreds of people. I have talked to a couple of contacts and the guys behind this scam are known to them with home addresses and so on, I will need to take a look into it in more detail because I assume that at some point people will need to take action against them and any information that can be confirmed should prove useful.

KNC are not the only ones doing it of course, but as a fellow Scandinavian (not Swedish though) I feel almost ashamed of their level of corruption and greed.

I will start to get as much information together as possible and will do so on other companies thaqt act in the same way.

J

 Huh

What exactly are you disgusted about? They delivered what they promised, in fact, as you so like to do in your business, for most they over-delivered from what they promised and they were closer than anyone else to being on time. As for Neptune, the jury is still out on that, but at least they are paying out refunds to those who get cold feet. You make it sound like they are running off with everyones money.

They taped out last month, they are developing an expensive process, cutting edge, alot like their 28nm ASIC was, in terms development and delivery timescales was. And just in case they miss their own internal deadline they are going to offer those who are still hanging in there another way out, to convert to cloud hashing at the same output rate as the hardware.

Doesn't sound like a company thats treating their customers disgustingly. Sounds like a company that is pioneering, pushing the boundaries and isn't 100% sure of the timescales to get to where they want to get to so is trying to cover all the bases to make sure they don't rip off their customers.

Sure people have a right to be dissapointed that its not going according to their own private plan/agenda, but they can get out of it if they want.

And how much is it to pay at costums? I saw some complaints that its more to pay as before...

Just search the thread, theres about 100 posts about it.

You know if everyone had just shut up about all the customs stuff here and in other publicly accessible threads then you'd probably still be paying a reasonable amount. Its not like customs and excise are dumb they know how to search the net ffs.  Roll Eyes
2572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 05, 2014, 11:49:27 PM
A skeptic would say that Knc timed their tape-out announcement to slow down refund requests.

If the tape-out was completed in February, why wait until March 5th to announce it when more are more refunds are being requested everyday? I don't get it.

Last summer they taped out in june/july for their 28nm-Asics,but they confrmed tape-out in september after several people asked in the thread.

If you look back through the thread, what's happening now and over the past month is almost exactly what happened then. KnC are actually staying true to form and following a very similar pattern to the October launch.

No price drop today?

Next drop probably when there is either a major change in BTC price or About 8.5 days when difficulty goes up another 15% or so

Hi,
i need to setup my antminer s1 behind a http proxy.

did anybody know how to do the setup?

any idea?

Antminer doesn't use http so you need direct access through your firewall to the ports your pool uses.

You might be able to find a pool that uses http and try that, but if you are trying to do this from behind a college or school firewall I doubt it will work, maybe if you buy a private VPN.

BITMAIN, are you working on a next generation Antminer with lower power usage per GH? I suspect a lot of your repeat customers are close to maxed out on power usage, so a product that uses under 1W/GH would be ideal.

I would love to buy more Ants, but I'm having trouble dealing with the amount of heat that is being generated by the existing ones that I already have.

From past history and knowing the sort of market there is here they aren't going to say anything until they have something in stock. It would decimate their existing sales if they announced a next gen miner.
