2581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: October 04, 2015, 07:32:01 PM
Lending bitcoin would be passive way of getting our bitcoins to grow. Because in this way bitcoin makes bitcoins. So, the possibility of getting more bitcoin is higher than any other method.

Lending job is not very easy now days, there are may stammers are around so you can't believe any one so easily. They will prepare all those fake id's and accounts to get the loans. So one should be careful before lending without any collaterals.

collateral is there for you, without collateral i would do any lending, but with a good collateral like their account, you are safe, you can always sell if to someone

I think that to stay safe you should take account as the collateral as 120-150% of the total loan.

Because not every time you can sell the accounts for the price that you lent the loan.

Is it allowed for long term loan when taking the account as collateral to use it and start earning from campaigns or it is against the rules?

What kind of asshole move is that?  I sure as hell wouldn't want someone writing posts on my account while it was being used as collateral for a loan. The account is to sell in case of default, not as a tool for making the lender some extra money.

Well there are some loans for long term, so in that case i was thinking is it allowed or not to use that collateral for personal use.

Of if you have alt coins (like DOGE) and is it allowed to sell for a higher price and then buy when it is low and give back to the user.

It would not be allowed except you negotiate it. The collateral is not something you own, it is something another user owns and you care for it. When you sell it then you sell something you don't own. What will you do if it wents wrong?

Regardless, it's the same with any escrow on the forum. They are not allowed to use the funds they have in escrow for something like speculation. It would be a big problem if such escrow would have to say that he only can pay back later because he lost. This escrow will be dead from that time on.

So no, you are not allowed to do anything with it except he defaults.
2582  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Lenders, please don't lend without a proper collateral! on: October 04, 2015, 11:18:18 AM
If bitcointalk got rid of lending and signature campaigns, it would be a much better place.  People should not be getting loans on a discussion board. Friends or family or professional lending places exist for that.  Both the lending section and all of these sig campaigns are why assholes from around the world flock to this forum.

If you would take away this then you would hurt one of the main characteristics of bitocin. Bitcoin is money so everything related to money needs to happen. This is no forum for a different topic. Bitcoin IS money from the start and a big part dicussed was trades and such.

You can't take that away.
2583  Other / Meta / Re: Member: idol << ACCOUNT HACKED on: October 04, 2015, 11:12:23 AM
Hello,

I was talking to idol just minute ago (on a Slack), and he told me that his account was hacked/stolen.

He has a little problem with finding a way to prove that he is the real owner as he hasn't post any BTC address.
Once he PMed an alt addy to some coin dev and that's it.

But anyway, I told him to contact Theymos about this case as only he can help.

I just want to warn all of you to not deal with "idol" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=250775   at the moment.

The person which is using idol account might be a hacker or a thief so be careful as you might be blinded by his trust feedbacks.

Best regards.

Translation:

I got caught or am about to get caught and/or implicated in a scamming attempt and I need deniability so I will make unfounded claims of hacking.

That's why you aren't getting any response.

~BCX~

If he can proof the ownership of the altcoin address he sent to staff one day then it should proove that he is the original owner.

Or do you say there is more to it?
2584  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your trading strategy? on: October 04, 2015, 11:04:47 AM
Yes, it is even hard when you learnt about technical analysis and such.

What i learnt is that you should not daytrade. If you trade bigger timeframes then you might predict the price development better.

And if you really know what to do, you don't need a lot of bitcoins. You can go to okcoin.com and trade futures. You then even can bet against the bitcoin price. And you can trade big amounts by trading margin. Risking only some money.

Of course risk reward ratio is higher.
2585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: October 03, 2015, 11:20:35 PM
HYIP as method of growing their bitcoin? Does it really grow? For owners yes it is but in an illegal way. How about for imvestors? Does it really grow your btc's? Tongue Calling the attention of HYIP lovers.

HYIP can't be a real tool to growing our Bitcoin at all, simply because most of this sites are Ponzi schemes and most likely their admins are scammers and thiefs. There is some few exceptions of course, but in general its risky domain and you can lose all your Bitcoin in such sites

most of the time the Ponzi admins are not scammers or thiefs.  Usually they just stop getting new people to invest and they don't have enough money to pay out anyone so the money just stops coming and they are stuck, site closes.  Everyone should know the risks of joining them and stop calling them scams, they are working as intended

Either you are one of these hyip owners or... i don't know. Everyone knows exactly that such a system can't run for ages and when you know that and you end with some money earned while your investors lost money then you are a scammer, nothing more.

Now tell me that the hyip-owners end their scam and NOT earned money from it. Roll Eyes

I only knew one person who tried to build a fair system like that. It was very open showing all incoming and outgoing transactions, nothing fake like it is normal, and yes, it stopped working. He paid back some of the whiners who claimed they were stupid enough to send them money they really need out of his own pocket. And that's it. No second try. But all normal hyip claim you get a certain percent and whatever.

Sorry but claiming these owners are victims of their own system is plain stupid. Or misleading when you are one of them.
2586  Economy / Auctions / Re: Steam Account with 27 games, worth total $537 on: October 03, 2015, 11:13:41 PM
Maybe this forum is not the best place to sell such account? There might be more specialized forums in the net.

I don't think any forums are capable to sell Steam accounts safely and easily, since they're not allowed by the company the account was registered in the first place. I may be wrong though.

You are right though as far as i saw, while selling that account, these accounts are traded. Might be that steam is not going after it so aggressive or that these trades happen more silently or so.
2587  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Lenders, please don't lend without a proper collateral! on: October 03, 2015, 11:12:30 PM
I write this because it happened lately that a lender lent out coins without collateral. The borrower removed the personal message under the avatar that he has a loan and sold the account. The outcome was that someone paid for the loan and it was not the borrower. I won't say any names and i didn't

Its a good advice you give here. i appreciate you dont call out any names, but i am okay with having this out. it was me who escrowed the deal and it was me who paid the open loan to protect the one who gave the loan.

i wasnt able to figure out that the account i escrowed had an open loan. i watched through the last posts but i missed it. after the deal was done i was contacted by the person who gave the loan. as the parties were not able to deal with the situation i decided to pay the debt.

i am giving out loans, so i know how it feels to get scammed. why did i pay the open loan, even i didnt take it? well, after thinking about the whole story i feelt it was my mistake by not checking all things that i shlould have checked. so i decided to pay.

I was later repaid by the seller of the account, not in btc but he did some work for me. Some would say it didnt cover the full amount but at least i got something back.

Two things i learned from that:

As escrow: clearly state what your tasks are. escrow are only responsible for smooth trades, nothing else. explain this to the parties.
As someone who gives loan: no collateral, no loan. no exceptions.

I think this should be in the lending section.

I think it was a nice move of you. When i check for loans or scams i do a google search with something like this:
Code:
site:bitcointalk.org scam Username
site:bitcointalk.org loan Username

and see what comes up. Of course it seems to be needed nowadays too to check avatar messages and so on.

Though i tell the buyer always that i made a quick check but that i can't ensure that there is nothing hidden. That risk has to be taken by the buyer always since loans could be given out via pm too.

Besides that... traders pushing for a fast transaction are a pain... though i then feel more like they might to scam me, so that i don't get that something is fishy or so.

Good luck with your future escrow service. I think the way you handled your parly error is an advertisement for you. Smiley
2588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitRush ICO, be cautious, please read! on: October 03, 2015, 11:05:34 PM
look at this a newbie takeover those scam coin
it look like the same person to me aged account and just post today
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1199392.new#new

If it is the same person than it was cleverly done by first not wanting to give the coin up and then it happens.

I was asked if i will forward the remaining funds to the new coin owner though at the moment practically all coins are already refunded or it is handled to refund them. I can't send the coins to a random person without the investors telling me to do so.

they have the list of who invest that bitcoin or maybe some of them already send you PM
i think they will not continue it anymore
new coin owner say that he will not get any BTC from doing that takeover
if the first coin owner told you that you need to send the remaining BTC to new coin owner
dont send any of it because he already told us that he will not get any BTC from it
that will be the proof that they are the same person
and its not better also to send it chinook because he is a scammer
it means your only choice if to send it back to the real owner

Yes, at that point i can not send anything anywhere without the consent of every proven investor. Otherwise it would raise questions when i sent it and the investor asks me why i did so.

Anyway... since the new owner took over, whether or not he is the same person as the first coin owner, did he say something about that he received the investments that the scammer received by changing the escrow address to one of his addresses? Or did the scammer keep these coins? It would be interesting to know if they were pushed.
2589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitRush ICO, be cautious, please read! on: October 03, 2015, 07:12:59 PM
This thread was moved to Altcoin Discussion. I think that's fine now. I guess everyone who invested knows about that till now.
2590  Economy / Auctions / Re: Eve Online Account, Character transferable on: October 03, 2015, 07:08:50 PM
So it seems no bid came in. If someone still is interested let me know by posting here or sending me a pm. I would then let the seller know about that offer and we could see if you guys could negotiate something out.
2591  Economy / Auctions / Re: Steam Account with 27 games, worth total $537 on: October 03, 2015, 07:07:53 PM
How long will this auction run?  Will you use escrow?

Iam the escrow and i sell this account for another forum user. The auction ended already though you might give me your offer and i forward it to the seller. Maybe you can get a deal together. Smiley

I am still kinda of new to this all, so thank you for clearing that up for me.  I have an account I obtained from a bad loan; can you sell it for me?

I don't know if it will work since like you see, no one was interested on here.

Maybe this forum is not the best place to sell such account? There might be more specialized forums in the net.
2592  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Announcements subforum with uneditable posts? on: October 03, 2015, 07:06:49 PM
Yeah, i like the idea too. The escrow should have not so very much more work. An update once in a while is not so hard. Since the other support work in the thread would be done by the issuer.

Of course the escrow would need to make very clear that he is not the issuer and who the issuer is.

So issuer might think about that solution. It could give their investors another level of peace of mind.
2593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: October 03, 2015, 07:03:38 PM
It's best to stay away from it, but if everyone was paranoid about every Bitcoin venture ever no entrepreneur would be able to get anything done because no one would fund them.. so it's a doubled edged sword. I think a small % of them will be legit make early investors rich but its a big gamble to be honest, and I would rather gamble my money in poker and have fun as well.
Can anyone show me an IPO/HYIP that became a success in the Bitcoin world and made investors rich?

There are very rare cases of real investments in bitcoin area. You should be very sure that the one can bring the income, you should proove his identity so that you have an actual contract with him that you can prove together with the forum texts and whatever you have and you should be cautious about any other risks.

The risk that, even when you know the person and you know he is very honest, the business goes down is high. I speak from experience unfortunatly. Bitcoin investments are VERY risky.
2594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: October 03, 2015, 07:00:50 PM
Quote
the amount of risk the HYIPs have are so high that it is not worth the risk. IMO, all the hypes and similar investments (if you can call them investment) are a big gamble with terrible odds.
because you are 100% sure that the system is going to end suddenly one day, and it can be the minute you put your money in or it can even last for a couple of weeks but the end and the big losses are guaranteed.

you are very terrible...(I'm not sure it is the right word...perhaps extraordinary is better?)
why do you say always 100% and not a little less?
I run a investment site and it  will not going suddenly.(if so it is very bad for me and it is then a problem about my health or something but not about what you are thinking)
How can you are so sure about what you say?
talking about 100% is not serious from you.

If you run a HyIP then the chance is 100% that you will stop paying out one day. That day will be the day when less new investments come in because less users can be attracted. And when the payout requests are so high that the theoretical profits, that are only there in numbers, are too high.

If you have a legit investment where you can pay out ALL of the funds that everyone collected over time then fine. But then there would be no reason to be offended by his words.
2595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: October 03, 2015, 06:57:44 PM
I am now getting profit from an hyip. Hopeful I can earn more from it.

Boy, either you are delusional, after reading all these warnings, or you are a hyip-owner who tries to get some noobs sending him a pm asking what hyip you mean. Roll Eyes
2596  Other / Meta / Re: Member: idol << ACCOUNT HACKED on: October 03, 2015, 06:56:01 PM
this is really getting frustrating ...

i have sent the admin few Pm's and not even a fart form them Sad

Is this solved in the meanwhile? I wonder how long things like this take. Did you did not get an answer at all yet?

still nothing... just holding my breath waiting...turning purple Sad

i hope admins get a chance to look at the posts here..Idol account has not logged on since aug 12th .. date when i got locked out

It's strange that you did not get any reaction at all. I would await that it is not so hard to answer a pm with a oneliner, like "You need to wait a month to see if not another user claims it is his account." or so.
2597  Other / Meta / Re: Abuse or not? on: October 03, 2015, 06:49:34 PM
Id say nuke em for all they're worth. Who cares if they get negative trust? That only balances the factor of the trust and the rank. Isn't selling accounts against the btct rules?

It's not against the rules. And if you would go against account sale like that then we already know what would happen. Accounts would be sold in silence. Nobody would know about it.

I prefer accounts being traded through escrows. This provides a semi publicity. Staff and escrow can know which accounts were traded and might be able to draw connections.

I think that is way better than trying to forbid it unsuccessfully.
2598  Other / Meta / Re: Abuse or not? on: October 03, 2015, 06:47:06 PM
I just think selling the accounts is an issue when they have feedback.

Even just having multiple non declared accounts is an issue. I've still not heard a good reason for not making it known that you have more than 1 account.

I think there are reasons. For example your privacy when you sell or buy something where others maybe should not know it. For example being with one of these sexsites. Some users might have a problem with that

Next thing might be shame for being scammed in a stupid way by someone.

And something i often see is selling accounts with a newbie account because otherwise everyone would know which account gets sold because it was a collateral for a loan.
2599  Other / Meta / Re: Abuse or not? on: October 03, 2015, 06:44:37 PM
So you sell them mid range accounts which they build up to sell off as high ranking member accounts. What legitimate reason do people have for buying those high ranking accounts?

Signature campaigns pay more for higher ranking forum accounts.

I know. So which part of buying a high-ranking account in order to take part in signature campaigns whereby people believe a 'senior' forum member is supporting the campaign, thereby lending it a degree of undeserved credibility, is not dishonest?

If the intention is to mislead for personal gain, then the act of buying a high-ranking forum account is absolutely evidence of somebody being demonstrably untrustworthy.

I think if someone wants to find a bit of dishonesty then he can, right?

It doesn't really matter to the campaign how credible a user is. What matters is what he writes. And that depends on the person.

That and the kind of signature that is possible has the highest impact on the campaign. Since higher ranking accounts can wear bigger, more flashy signatures.
