2581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 44 countries will meet in El Salvador to discuss Bitcoin on: May 17, 2022, 03:58:34 PM
We are not sure yet how this meeting is going to affect bitcoin and the adoption of bitcoin but from what we can see most of these countries are the countries with no strong fiat currencies so they may show interest in accepting bitcoin like Nayib Bukele did accept in El Salvador.
Yeah they might show interest, it also doesn't mean that many of them would immediately make Bitcoin a legal tender in their own country by the way, and even if they do, i honestly do not think it will have too much of an impact on Bitcoin (not immediately at least), especially when you take a good look at the countries having the said meeting. I know it is not possible right now for first world countries to take steps such as this regarding Bitcoin, of course not, they are solely focused on continually improving their fiat currency/economy, but if that happens somewhere along the line, then we could call it a big news, and one that will have an effect on Bitcoin. Don't get me wrong, i am not just merely pushing this away as nothing, of course not, if you look at how old Bitcoin is as a currency (relatively young), then you would understand that it is actually something worthy of note for countries to include its adoption in their discussion, irrespective of the countries that make up the meeting.
But on the other hand, this meeting is going to happen just a few days after the recent crash in the market that things happened to some altcoins like luna which can have some bad effect on their aspect of view from bitcoin...
They should obviously have done their research, they definitely would be aware of the risk in the network, and that it it not a stable one, so this shouldn't be any problem at all in respect to the general view/discussion.
2582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we all buy a Bitcoin Pizza? on: May 17, 2022, 03:17:29 PM
Well the point of me is, to convert money to Bitcoin and then spend it at a shop that accepts bitcoins. I don't say you should spend bitcoins that you want to keep, I say you should spend money that you spend anyways not in fiat but in crypto to support the adoption.
I wouldn't mind spending my Bitcoin on a couple of my needs if i do get the chance (and i mean 'where) to do so, it is really difficult to do that where i come from, you could of course pay for some goods and services over the internet (online), but a real life payment in a shop/store is difficult to do at the moment. Generally, doing so would depend a whole lot on where the user resides, and how popular shops that accept Bitcoin are in that area.

Of course more Bitcoin users would want to hodl and speculate with their coins in many years to come, but it is of course great to likewise use Bitcoin as a currency when you do have the chance to do so, not that it matters too much how one uses it, cause anyway actually helps with mainstream adoption; whether it is buying to hold or buying to spend, the thing remains that Bitcoin is being bought (meaning there is constant demand).

And just as quite a lot of people expected: Arsenal did what Arsenal know how to do best, and that is to capitulate, there is no such thing as 'we now have to wait for the last game to see who ends fourth', Spurs are going to end fourth, and that is that, Norwich would be lucky not to concede above 3 goals that day. It was in Arsenal's hands quite a lot of times this season, they lost it and it came right back to them again (up until tonight), this situation happened quite a lot of times this season, they ought to have been more decisive in doing their job. If you saw how distraught Arsenal players were at the end of the game you'll know that even themselves know it is over, it is Europa league football for them next season after all the hardwork, this is even going to affect their mentality for next season.

Luiz Saurez was giving a well deserved farewell by the Atletico Madrid fans, though his stay with them was short but they did appreciate his impact. Many teams will be considering getting him to join them, and rumor has it that he prefer playing in the EPL which I doubt because he has outstanding match ban there. I think if PSG approach him he would sign for them to reunite with his friends Neymar and Messi.
Suarez was very instrumental in Athletico's run to win the title last season, he scored many goals that contributed in the success they achieved last season, and not just that, whenever he is called upon to play for the team, he gives his all, he plays with all the desire in the world, and that is what fans love to see from their players, thus he deserved the farewell he got, as i am pretty sure the club and fans wish him well in his next step.

I actually disagree that many teams would be seeking to sign Suarez, maybe lower teams though, but i don't know how many top teams will be keen in getting Suarez into their team, this looks prolly like the time Suarez either moves to a less competitive league, or to a small club where he could get some playing time under his belt, for him it should be getting to the stage were the curtain is drawn on an illustrous career.
2585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: May 16, 2022, 08:44:25 PM
Manchester City lost the big advantage, in my opinion, Aston Villa can do anything.
Of course if City had won the game they would have been all but Champions heading into the final game of the season, but people seem to forget how tough a team West Ham are, and that point was very important for City to keep their destiny firmly in their hands heading into their final game of the season against Aston Villa. I am very proud of this City side, with what they have done this season they deserve an awful amount of credit, and they would get all of that on the final day when they are crowned champions, cause i do not see anything other than that happening.

Liverpool by the way still have to win Southampton tomorrow to take the title race down to the final day, it is a game they are highly expected to win, but until they do that we can't talk about the race for the title lingering till the final day, so it is fingers crossed for now.

Have any official announcement Mbappe will Leave the PSG next season?I see some website Mbappe will join Real Madrid in next season.
There is as of yet no official statement on the future of Mbappe, as is expected there is always going to be quite a lot of rumors making the rounds, but from what i read online, the player is set to make an announcement on his future in a few weeks, i read he will do that before he links up with the French National team soon. That announcement really needs to come quick enough, as the rumors over the past months have been quite much, time to settle it once and for all.

A part of me tells me that Mbappe is ambivalent of what he wants to do, if he should go or stay, i quite understand his situation as players try to be as careful as possible in taking decisions such as this.
2587  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i secure my account? on: May 16, 2022, 04:57:55 PM
Do not use your forum email account to register on other websites and platforms, you should obviously have multiple emails, do so if you do not, and then 'dedicate' one solely for your forum account here. It would also be much better if you avoid using a public wifi to access your account, you should also use a very strong password like others have said, if you do not have an idea how to do so, here is a thread that can teach you how to create strong passwords, read it for better understanding : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132378.0
2588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will LUNA's downfall scare away investors from the crypto market? on: May 16, 2022, 04:44:39 PM
Do you think LUNA's downfall will scare away investors from the crypto market? If not, why?
It could, but i would argue that it will only scare away people who know little about the crypto network, let us be honest, quite a lot of investors who bought that project did so basically cause of hype, and a bid to get rich quick, i am pretty sure most of them did not do their homework/research, they just thought of it as a medium to double their money, and we all know what is likely to happen when investors do that.

Now the thing is this, for investors who have been around for so long, and who know a lot about pump and dump coins, they would not be too worried or scared away, even if they lost money to the project, they would understand that it is the risk one has to take when you invest with such pump and dump project, but for investors who are prolly relatively new to the network and straightaway lost money to Luna, i am pretty sure that could be the last time they invest, at least in a long while, till they do their homework.

Having said that, non-crypto people are not left out as well, all of the news about Luna would give them many more reasons to avoid crypto all together, but quite a lot of them wouldn't understand that the problem isn't with crypto generally, but the particular network you invest in.
2589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you buying the dip? on: May 16, 2022, 04:13:24 PM
I am pretty sure quite a lot of people are buying in this dip, many people have identified severe bear periods as a time to accumulate more of their favorite coins as prices are lower, but people still have to be careful with the coins they would be accumulating this bear period, many of the coins that crashed are also pump and dump coins, many of which would not appreciate in price again, even after prices become much better. Thus any investor who buys into such projects would be at the receiving end of it all.

Having said that, i believe so much in the Bitcoin system, so it is the coin i think is great to accumulate more in this dip, it is a long term project, so you do not have to worry much about short term correction periods as it will always appreciate back up. As for altcoin believers, Eth or Dogecoin is actually not a bad idea to throw some more money on.
2590  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: May 16, 2022, 03:40:14 PM
Make this election comot this set of leaders make we still Know where God go carry us put. This government no take anywhere good, hypocrisy plenty.
You sound quite sanguine about the outcome of the next general election, i am not trying to be a pessimist here, but i do not have high hopes about what is to come, when you even look at the candidates vying to represent their different political parties in the next general election, i sort of lose hope. I could be totally wrong with my thoughts, but it is what it is, and we all know what our dear country Nigeria is capable of.
Bros, make we keep our fingers crossed. I am sure e go better soon.
We have been saying this for quite a long time now, hoping for things to get better over here, but it seems so far from us at the moment. Most Nigerians at this stage just wants to eke out a living for themselves and their family, cause as for the general economy, things do not look quite good, or doesn't look to be good anytime soon.
2591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 16, 2022, 03:02:42 PM
What do you Think who will win Seria A Leaugue title? I think Ac Milan will win Leaugue title.
Of course, AC Milan can control their destiny, Inter cannot, AC Milan have it in their hands, Inter do not. So obviously it is advantage AC Milan, but the thing is, the final day would decide who celebrates as Italian League Champions, the both teams have done tremendously well this season and they both deserve to win the title, but only one team can win it.

Inter can only win their game and hope for a slip up, that is not a position teams like to be in, when you are hoping on another result to decide your fate; Ac Milan can actually reach out and feel the title at the moment, just one final hurdle. I supported Inter from the start of the season till the end, and i would feel disappointed that they do not win it, but i would still be happy for AC Milan, they have been massively impressive this season, and they deserve the title after many years of not winning it.

And he approved it within a short time. Thanks, theymos for your quick response and consideration.
That is surprising and commendable as well from the admin, i thought this sort of request usually takes a bit of time, or even outright rejection most of the time. I guess this is your second change of name mate, if you do not mind can you tell us how long it took the admin to accept your request in the first instance and how long it took this time around.

Having said that, i think this name is much better that the previous one written in capital letters, i always prefer names written in small letters actually, it is just my personal thing anyway, but i think they look much better, at least in my eyes, i don't know for others.
2593  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let's always remember how important our lives are. on: May 12, 2022, 11:10:19 PM
If this news is true, then what can i say, definitely too sad to even take a second look at, a lot of this has to do with how people take crypto, and that is as a get rich quick thing, they basically have the idea of joining the network to double their money, they take it as gambling, and they are investing so much, far more than they can afford to lose in a bid to do this; it is unbelievable.

This news is another reason why giving people investment advice is usually very risky business, imagine buying this coin, and convincing your friend to do so too, what would be the situation of that relationship right now, they would blame you to 'death', and in a worst case scenario could even hurt you. Always allow people to do their own research, and when they do, they should make up their mind, so that they bear the consequences of whatever action they take. But i truly hope this story about suicide is false.
2594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: May 12, 2022, 10:23:43 PM
You just have that feeling with Arsenal, you can never be sure they won't capitulate, it has been that way for years now, they find it very difficult to just get the job done, even when they are so close to it, tonights defeat is the perfect example of what Arsenal fans have been meant to cope with and endure for quite a long time now.

Arteta can complain all he wants about the officiating by the referee, and even if we can agree with him that the ref made a couple of mistakes, that is still not an excuse. Losing the way they did, in arguably their most important game of the season thus far. The good thing is that their destiny is still in their own hands, win their remaining two games and it is job done, but with Arsenal you just never know, so their fans are going to have an anxious wait till the season is over.
2595  Other / Off-topic / Re: A Letter To My Newbie Friend, Someone I Mentor. on: May 12, 2022, 06:54:40 PM
Luna might have taken away all you ever worked for, be strong and keep moving for you are not alone, we all are in this together, let's draw strength from each other, strength to keep keeping on, this is a phase, and like every other phases, this too shall pass.
How can one possibly invest all they have worked for in a project like Luna, that is basically inviting trouble for yourself, to look at it from another angle, investing all you have into any project whatsoever is breaking the rule of thumb of not investing more that you can afford to lose, which is also another mistake for users who went contrary to that.

This has been reiterated times without number, many of this altcoins are pump and dump/short term coins, and you have to really be careful with them, take profit once you get them, as a matter of fact if you do not have any plans of attempting to get rich quick, then you should avoid them completely and invest with Bitcoin, the thing is Bitcoin is a long term project that requires patience, so you must eliminate any thought of a get-rich-quick scheme. What makes Bitcoin a whole lot different is that you can be certain that despite any correction phase/plunge, sooner or later it will rise back up, the same can't be said for most altcoins, quite a lot of them dump, and that is the end of it.
2596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: May 12, 2022, 06:37:41 PM
With Real Madrid winning the La Liga title, they will now be able to fully concentrate on the Champions League final. And they have enough time to prepare for the final match. Liverpool, on the other hand, is still battling for the Premier League title.
You have a point there, if you ask me which set of players would come into the game fresher, i would say it would be the Madrid players, they have won their league and Carlo Ancelotti can afford to rotate his squad massively for their remaining league games, he would definitely keep his main players out of the action, and prolly give some of them a 10 or 20 minute game time to stretch their legs.

But Liverpool on the other hand have a final against Chelsea on Saturday, and on top of that they have two very important games in the premier league against Southampton and Wolves, and they can't afford to rest any of their key players for this games, because they want to win all of it, so in terms of coming into the game in a slightly better condition, i think Madrid have the advantage there. But Liverpool is an absolute top club, their stats this season in unbelievable and i am pretty sure they would handle the situation very well. Their major concern now would be on the fitness of Fabinho who is down with a harmstring injury, i hope he is fit come the 28th of this month, cause he is very pivotal to how Liverpool play their game.
2597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: May 12, 2022, 02:54:03 PM
Obviously Liverpool will prioritize the Champions League, because the Champions League Trophy is more prestigious than the Premier League trophy.
The premier league is City's to lose, with two games left and in the position they are in, they are favorites for the title, Liverpool can only hope and pray for a slip-up, but the thing remains that their destiny is not in their own hands, but in the CL it is different, when the game starts, the both teams have equal chances of being champions. This can prolly be the only reason why Liverpool would be eagerly looking forward to the CL final, and not prioritizing it per se, cause i can assure you that the same way Liverpool will head into their game against Madrid, is the exact same way they will play their last two games in the EPL against Southampton and Wolves. Every competition is still up for grabs for them, and until it is over, they will play with as much intensity as they can, to win and be champions, it might not be possible in all, but they will try.
2598  Other / Meta / Re: Is this allowed?? on: May 12, 2022, 10:44:38 AM
However for learning purpose, if I see someone made an account like my username e.g. Apocollapsa, Apocollapses, Apocollapse1 can I tag them with negative?
AFAIK, this sort of attempted impersonations happen seldomly, so the new forum software could prolly be out before you see someone trying to impersonate you (you can now guess how long that will take).

Well if that somehow happens then it would still be subject to interpretation, i think users should be tagged immediately if they impersonate a mod, dev, admin or an established user, especially one who is actively involved in the commercial aspect of the forum. Every other thing would be interpreted on the basis of a possible coincidence, the sort of posts the user has made and their actions generally since joining the forum.
2599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: May 11, 2022, 07:32:00 AM
qualifying Barcelona alone for champions league ticket next season is enough achievement.
Ordinarily and in a normal circumstance, it definitely isn't enough for a club of Barcelona's level and history, but when you look back at how bad Barcelona were in a couple of months back, and the position in which they occupied then prior to the coming of Xavi, then it is correct to say that what he has done thus far is enough, pushing Barcelona up to 2nd position in the league, and having qualified for the CL next season, it is a success in every stretch of the word.

But having said that, if the Barcelona hierarchy do their transfer business pretty well after the end of this season, then they will be expecting a bit more from Xavi next season, they would expect him to challenge for major trophies and maybe win something, but until then, Xavi deserves an awful amount of credit for what he is doing now.
2600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: May 10, 2022, 10:00:18 PM
They are solid at their league position because Sevila and Athletico Madrid cannot overtake them anymore, I just hope they will be able to perform well and compete for tlTitles next season.
It is all about finishing second for Barcelona this season, and they are going to do just that. Barcelona really fought their way back up, after they were in a very difficult position at the beginning/mid-season, an awful amount of credit has to go Xavi's way, with what he has done thus far they can look at next season and smile. It was very important for Barcelona to finish this season on a very impressive note, it gives them the needed motivation/morale to approach next season and challenge for major trophies.
