1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: January 18, 2023, 08:12:05 AM
The history between Liverpool and Real Madrid has its own story. Real Madrid is still ahead of any team when it comes to the number of UCL trophies. At the moment Real Madrid is still in consistent condition both in the domestic league and the UCL, they always get the best results from every match and when I meet Liverpool in the play-offs later I'm sure Real Madrid will win in leg 1 and leg 2.
Real Madrid have been doing quite well this season, but they haven't been as consistent as their usual selves, they aren't at the summit of the la liga table because of that, and they were also easily brushed aside by Barcelona in Supercopa final, but they aren't as bad as Liverpool have been, Klopp's side haven't just been bad, they have been terrible thus far this season.

Having said that, whilst we can't really predict the outcome of the game as it is a couple of weeks away, if Liverpool do not improve, they are going to be beaten convincingly by Real Madrid, but if Liverpool can get in their right rhythm before that game, then we have a real contest on our hands.

A very small small small rumor about a possible comeback for Conte from Spurs to Juventus (sacking Allegri at the end of the season).

what do you think?
I don't quite believe this rumor, Conte himself is having a pretty bad season with Spurs, and imo it is mainly because of his philosophies and strategies with which he approaches games with, more often than not he has a defensive setup once the match starts, and he reverts back to an attacking one when the team is struggling or has conceded, why not just start on the front foot. Conte's contract with Spurs expires at the end of the season, and i don't think there are any talks yet to extend it, that is because the board at the club are prolly not happy. Thus i don't see any reason why Juventus should be eager to get him right now either.

Having said that, whilst Allegri started the season in a pretty bad way, they have been somewhat resurgent in the last couple of weeks, this has taken them back up to 3rd on the table, i know pretty well that they aren't going to win the title, but if he ends this season in high spirits, it gives them the morale to really bounce back and compete for titles next season, with the same manager.
1643  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Investors will lose crypto assets in coming years – SFS Capital CEO on: January 17, 2023, 12:30:04 AM
According to Patrick Ilodianya many people will loss in cryto investment because it is unregulated but i don't see any issue with the unregulated nature with cryto currency abi na me no understand am well. Fiat bank wey be sae goverment dey regulate wan kill pesen for naija like dis.
If your money lost for fiat bank you go fit start case/sue the bank go court, publicly drag the bank, etc and as them they regulated they are obliged by law to reply you, provide answers to your questions and try to see if them fit find your money wey lost, if you sue them go court, them gats find lawyer try defend themselves as to wetin do your money, they have to do all these things, because them they regulated. But you see for unregulated market wey no get law, no central body wey go talk say see as things be, the risk choke oh, person fit scam/hack you and you no fit find am or do anything, you no go fit even report to police, for unregulated market na you go gats be your own protection. Regulation go good for some aspects of crypto no be lie, especially crypto exchanges, though most of them don they regulated small sha, if crypto exchanges they unregulated, them go dy carry people crypto play and if them lose am you no go fit sue them or do anything. The only reason why them fit arrest SBF, come charge am to court for wetin e do with people money na because the exchange they regulated, if not the money don go be that oh.
Yes I agree with Charles-Tim that fiat banks are more far beter dan exchange platforms 2 keep money, na cry u go cry won day. make we see weti go happen for naija in the crypto space dis year and next year.
Fiat banks and crypto exchanges na two different things oh, whilst fiat banks na place weh people they save their fiat, exchange no be place wey people suppose save their crypto, e suppose be place wey you go enter, do your crypto trade, comot sharp sharp, but people no know, they come they use exchange the way them they use fiat banks.

The fact that Liverpool lose in EPL shouldn't justify that they will equally lose to Real Madrid in the UeFa champion league.
The thing is, Liverpool have been on an absolutely terrible form of late, even Jurgen Klopp confirmed it in his post match press conference after the defeat to Brighton, even he said he can't remember when it has been this bad for them, and i can understand what he meant, it isn't basically only about their loss to Brighton, it is a culmination of how they have been playing in the last couple of weeks, tbh they don't look like a side that can beat anybody right now.

Having said that, the only good thing for Liverpool is that they would play Real Madrid in a couple of weeks time, so they have ample time to rediscover themselves, but if they do not, and they go into that game playing in the same way they are doing now, then i'm afraid they would be absolutely annihilated by Real Madrid.
1645  Economy / Economics / Re: The Buy Now, Pay Later Bubble Is About to Burst on: January 16, 2023, 11:07:05 PM
There could be a crisis in the near future. As americans search for alternative methods to cover their monthly expenses once their credit cards and BNPL plans are tapped out. However, considering BNPL doesn't appear to track consumer debt. It is possible american consumers could rack up an unlimited number of BNPL plans without the additional debt appearing on credit check radar. Perhaps that is the way?
I think the right way should be for one to search for alternative means of making more income for themselves to cover their monthly expenses rather than this, because no matter how you look at it, a debt is a debt, and a debt must eventually be paid, if not early, then when it must have accrued quite a lot of interest fee.

Having said that, the concept of BNPL is not a bad one (but i don't think it should be abused), though in my country it isn't as yet so popular, but i know you can buy stuffs like phones, laptops and mostly electronic gadgets and pay around 30% of it there and then, and then choose to pay what's remaining in installments of either a 3-6-12 month period, and of course with interest. I don't really know how BNPL works in your country (USA), but would it be possible to rack up an unlimited number of it without running into trouble, and what about the interest fee accrued on it.

They are playing at their best but the other teams just simply cant lose right now. Take a look at Arsenal though, Arteta and the squad is currently on great momentum right now by winning all those games. Manchester United keep on winning and improving as well while City keep on leaning towards passing the ball to Haaland instead which is also why once Haaland was heavily manmarked as well as De Bruyne then they simply stop scoring afterwards
You say City are playing at their best? Definitely not, they can definitely play better than this, create more chances than they are currently doing and go on a winning run which they haven't really done this season. I think many people think City have been exceptional this season because they hardly watch their games, and they only see the media report of Haaland's goalscoring heroics, and then think City have been really good, they haven't.

Having said that, quite rightly the other teams around them have been doing quite well, but that doesn't stop City from performing too, they are known to be very good when it comes to title races, and we've seem them do it with Liverpool in the last couple of years and come out on top. Pep has do something real quick and get his City side back on the right track if they are to challenge Arsenal for the EPL title.
1647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: January 16, 2023, 05:38:44 PM
Liverpool performance this season has been terrible. It is really difficult to explain the recent cause of Liverpool's poor form because losing a game is normal but losing by 3 goals to Brighton in the second half is worrying.
Terrible to say the least, i mean, they have completely capitulated from where they were last season, and they need something miraculous to happen if they are to save their season from absolute collapse. Jurgen Klopp has done quite a lot for the club, that is why he is still somewhat comfortable and there are no talks of sacking him just yet, the club believe in him to save their season, we'd have to watch and see if he is capable of doing just that.

Having said that, if Liverpool do not do something quick, they might face a humilation when they come up against Real Madrid pretty soon, they definitely can't play Real Madrid in this their present form, they might just end up embarrassing themselves in both legs; the game is still a couple of weeks away, but their resurgence must start now.
1648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 16, 2023, 04:06:48 PM
I don't know what is the main goal of Al Nassr by wanting to bring in a lot of players with European labels after they managed to get Cristiano Ronaldo, what is certain is that it will make their team better known. I won't be surprised when they manage to bring 1 or 2 more players to their club because their financial strength is so very good. I think it would be more profitable for them to carry names other than the goalkeeper. But let's see what they will do next.
Keylor Navas is finding life somewhat difficult in PSG, as he has been restricted to little or no playing time because of Donnarumma, i think if Al-Nassr are actually interested in bringing him to Saudi Arabia, then there is no reason why he shouldn't go, he would prolly get more playing time there, more money, love and other things too.

Having said that, the reason why Al-Nassr are trying to bring popular stars to their club is to increase the popularity of their team, they want to create a name for themselves, Ronaldo has helped them gain quite a lot of popularity around the world, and in order to maintain that they have to continue alluring attraction to their team through buying superstars.
1649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 16, 2023, 02:58:07 PM
The way Manchester United is currently playing is not bad, but it is beginning to appear as if Ronaldo is their issue.
Oh please, can we all agree to allow Cristiano Ronaldo enjoy his time in Saudi Arabia and leave him out of the success or failure of Manchester United. I mean, last season the Portuguese star was Manchester United's best player and highest goal scorer, but even then people kept saying he was their problem, despite scoring many goals to help the team. It has basically become obvious that the media dislike Cristiano Ronaldo and maybe no matter what he does: he would always be the problem.
Arsenal is still the team I think will win the league, and given how hard they have worked, they truly deserve it. Man City, on the other hand, I am confident won't finish outside the top three.
City definitely can't finish outside the top three, they definitely can even finish at the summit of the league, that is how good they are, or rather can be when they are playing at their best (though they aren't right now). Anyways, right now the league is Arsenal's to lose, they are 8 points clear and the advantage is clearly with them, if they can continue performing consistently till the end of the season, they would be EPL champions after quite a long time.
1650  Other / Meta / Re: How many forum members do you know by real name? on: January 16, 2023, 12:11:12 PM
Well IIRC, when i initially joined the forum my local community wasn't really a large one, thus, back then i didn't really know any forum users personally, even though then i could identify some users as my countrymen; but after a few years and with how large my local community is in this day, the number of forum members i know and communicate with on and off the forum is around 3-5 (no more than that). But the funny part of it all is that i don't know their real names, they don't know mine; we all never bothered to ask, we just got along using our forum pseudonyms, thus completely respecting the others' privacy.

Having said that, i consider them Bitcoin friends, and would love to share a glass of wine with them, but i'm afraid i have never met any of them in person due to privacy reasons.
1651  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Investors will lose crypto assets in coming years – SFS Capital CEO on: January 15, 2023, 11:42:47 AM
Nigerians will lose crypto assets if they are investing wrongly and storing their crypto assets wrongly. If you as a Nigerian purchases crypto that has no utility and shouldn't be held for the long term, thus you are prolly gambling, and if you don't sell before the coin starts to dump, you'd lose your crypto. Same thing goes for how you store your crypto assets, if you store them on crypto exchanges, or leave your seed phrase exposed, then you could also lose your crypto assets.

Having said that, i for one do not consider Bitcoin to be gambling, or to be synonymous with pump and dump schemes, if you are patient and make zero mistakes whilst storing your Bitcoin, then you wouldn't lose it; investors have to choose the best and safest option if they are to make the most out of the network.

The crypto network is more of a 'be your own bank network', so it is different from the traditional banking system, as its users are meant to protect themselves by being their own bank. But even the traditional banking system is no longer as safe as people think, there have been numerous cases of people's naira vanishing from their bank accounts: https://www.legit.ng/business-economy/money/1513978-nigerians-drag-zenith-bank-n4-million-vanished-ladys-account/ thus maybe more attention should be directed at the security of traditional banking than on crypto and crypto regulation.
1652  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happen to Bitcoin price? "Over $5 Billion' in Assets Recovered (FTX)" on: January 15, 2023, 10:20:08 AM
If Bitcoin's price is so easily influenced by events around a single company, it means it's very far from being mature. Imagine if the price of gold changed by 20% because some gold exchange pulled a scam. And yet people say that Bitcoin is gold's rival, that it is a better store of value.
People who say Bitcoin is gold's rival and a better store of value prolly do not understand the both assets. Gold is a safe-haven asset because it holds its value for a very long time without spontaneous movements, thus for people that aren't looking for too much ROI with relatively very small risk, Gold is their choice. But Bitcoin is much more volatile, but prolly less volatile than it was a couple of years ago, and in the short term has an uncertain movement in its price, but long term the ROI is way larger for its investors than those who chose gold, thus i can say Bitcoin investment is prolly too risky/not for short term investors, but if one is a long term investor, Bitcoin is for them.

Having said that, we have to consider the fact that most of these news as regards why Bitcoin rose or fell are more often than not speculations, Bitcoin isn't influenced by a single event any longer, but a combination of numerous events, which altogether influences the price of Bitcoin. This btw isn't changing anytime soon because weaker hands will always rapidly sell off when there's news and buy back when there's an appreciation in price. Mass adoption might bring the well needed maturity to the Bitcoin network.
1653  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: January 15, 2023, 09:51:33 AM
Financial stability hinges on how much income is coming your way daily/weekly/monthly/annually, thus if you have a profitable business/side hustle, it definitely improves your financial stability. But starting up a business is not all that a doddle, you'd have to have capital, and you'd prolly have to generate it from your main job, thus you might have to work for a couple of months or years (depending on your income/the business you want to start).

Having said that, in countries where labor is abused and people work almost throughout the day, a physical side job or second job might be difficult to do, you would prolly not have the time to combine jobs, but if it is in countries where you work per hour and you're paid something worthwhile, then you can consider doing multiple jobs. In my country, most of our side hustles have to be done online because your main job drains everything out of you and literally takes up all of the day, thus if you must seek an alternative income, it has to be online.
1654  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter could launch in-app ‘coins’ to help creators make money on: January 15, 2023, 09:12:28 AM
Musk seems to be obsessed with coins and tokens. He went from Bitcoin to Doge, from Doge to his own coin projects etc. I mean, why does one need to reinvent the wheel? Just use Bitcoin or Lightning ffs. He's just not really happy he can't control Bitcoin I guess.
I don't think he is sad either. I don't think he ever thought for a second that he would control Bitcoin, he should be smarter than that. One thing that you should understand is that Elon Musk is a business man, and he would only do what is good for business, and mind you that there is a big difference between a supposed endorsement tweet and an actual integration into a business.

Having said that, Elon Musk can tweet/endorse/say whatever he likes about Bitcoin, Doge or any other crypto/token, but he would only integrate into his business what he can control and what would make him the most money, that is how business men do, and that is what Elon has just done/would continue to do.

If Elon Musk was prolly a Bitcoin maximalist, then he might have considered using Bitcoin/LN for this, only because he would seek to promote Bitcoin through doing that, but he is not a Bitcoin maximalist, so creating his own in-app coin is definitely what favors him and his platform.
1655  Economy / Economics / Re: These Are the Top 10 Most Profitable Side Hustles in 2023 on: January 15, 2023, 07:27:42 AM
I don't live in the United States, but most of the jobs in the OP are definitely not side hustles in my country (i don't know if they are in the United States of America). I mean, there is hardly any job (as unemployment rate is pretty high) for these to be called side jobs/hustles. Where i come from, and with the extreme burden of labor, it would be almost impossible to combine these jobs in the OP with another different job (mostly 9-5) entirely, that's why they can't be called a side hustle/jobs.

Having said that, quite a lot of people in my country are searching for side hustles to complement their physical jobs that provides little or no income, but most of the side jobs over here are mostly done online, thus you can conveniently do what's expected of you from the comfort of your home, prolly after you must have closed for the day from your brick and mortar job.
1656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why most of airdrops don't pay participants with tokens in these days?? on: January 13, 2023, 07:13:08 AM
There are quite a lot of reasons why Airdrop/Bounty campaigns do not pay their participants all that much these days, but that which is most predominant is that the project is prolly a scam, thus they only need people to advertise their scam project and the moment they have acquired as much money as possible through investors on their project, they take the money and do not pay participants, because afterall they are scammers.

Having said that, nonetheless there are Airdrop/Bounty campaigns/projects that pay participants, but more often than not the tokens are worthless, you may never even get to trade them on any exchange because the devs stall on the development of the project once the Bounty campaign is over. Overall it is pretty obvious that Bounty campigns are no longer profitable.

1658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 13, 2023, 05:31:32 AM
It's a shame that Chelsea lost more points because overall they played well clearly the red card affected their performance
For now we don't know what solution is suitable to overcome Chelsea problem what is clear is that the problem of injury must be resolved immediately and management could give Potter more time I believe he has potential.
Well, imo i don't think Graham Potter has the potential to be a successful manager at Chelsea, he looks well suited in small/mid table clubs where he isn't under pressure to win trophies or finish in the EPL top four. Chelsea's problems stem from bad decisions from their current owners, they were too hasty to make decisions once they came in, and it has come back to haunt them right now.

Having said that, sacking Tuchel was one of such unnecessary decisions, and since then they have been making signings without proper thought, there are quite a lot of players they have signed in the last couple of months that i feel they do not need, players that wouldn't solve their problems, more of panic buys to say the least. I think Chelsea have to go back to the drawing board to address their issues, but in the meantime i think they would have a disappointing season.
1659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 12, 2023, 09:16:51 AM
Real Madrid have begun their search for a new star striker. Karim Benzema’s contract is expiring at the end of the season, and it seems he’s contemplating his future away from the club. I think Kane has been one of the best strikers in world football for some years now, and Real Madrid is a big club that fits his caliber of players.
I think Benzema is going to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid, he has always been a brilliant player for them, but the last 18 months or so has prolly been his best in a Madrid jersey, which has culminated in him winning the Ballon d'or award for the first time in his career. The French international has aged like fine wine, thus i don't see any reason why the Bernabeu club wouldn't extend his contract.

Having said that, even if they extend his contract, i am pretty sure they would still want to sign a striker that they would slowly integrate into the team, because in a few years Benzema might eventually leave, but such a striker would prolly have to be young, someone for the future, Kane is already 29, and it is a headache trying to bargain with Spurs for him, chances are high that you'd be left frustrated, thus i think Real Madrid are going to look elsewhere, i think they would rather be interested in the Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen who currently plays for Napoli.

Well as the matter be now we go trust our security personnel to they fish out people like this, but the reason why person go even fake their kidnap na because real kidnapping don they too much for Naija, and police no they ever solve the issue, so people believe say even if them fake their kidnap, police no go do any investigation and e go they hard to find out say na the person plan everything.
