261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 26, 2014, 07:59:30 PM
So every day that Simon tries to hold on as CEO and the creditors can't reach a deal among themselves,
Simon Barber is not and never was the CEO, he is the CTO...... I'm not sure why this mistake keeps coming up...

During the hearing they seemed to be saying that Edward was no longer the CEO and that Simon was now running the show.  I think they referred to him at one point as the "president" of Hashfast so you can give Simon what ever title you want but he is now running things.  Listen to the court hearing starting at 18:40
262  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Save 50% on PSU Costs w/ Gigampz: Breakout Board for DPS-800GBA Server PSU on: May 26, 2014, 06:47:16 PM
I should have specified,
2 260 's hex8A1
120v

Yes, you should be able to run two of those on a Gigampz/DPS-800GBA 120v input on all but the highest overclock setting which might work but it would be right on the edge.  On 240v input you could run two HEX8A1's on any overclock no problem.

MPP claims are absolutely legitimate. I bought after the MPP was announced, and I bought because the MPP was announced.  It was what put me over the edge.

As an aside I think it's become increasingly apparent that the MPP was a total farce concocted by Hashfast as a tool used to counteract negative events that were about to happen.

08/13/13 - Hashfast announces the MPP
2 days later people report they begin getting terms of sale with the "delivery by Dec. 31st" being secretly added.

10/13/13 - Hashfast announces MPP will be full boards not just chips
4 days later Hashfast announces a '1 week' delay which they probably had known for some time would be longer than one week.

11/7/13 - via email Hashfast says "For First Batch Baby Jets, the start date of the program will be retroactive to October 30th."
in same email, hashfast announces 2nd delay until at least mid-December

264  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 26, 2014, 03:35:25 PM
So what will this mean? If Hashfast will lost this, what will happend? Or if they win, Someone can give me a quick summary of this?

It sounds like Hashfast is going to go into Bankruptcy no matter what.  At issue is how it happens.  The creditors don't trust the current Hashfast management (rightfully so in my opinion) so the main "win" they will be looking for is a decision that removes the original Hashfast management from control of the company and places it with someone that will look out for the creditor's (ie: customers who are still owed product/money) interests.

The creditors want that to happen ASAP Hashfast doesn't want that to happen and they will probably submit a bankruptcy plan that involves Simon still being part of the company.  The judge seems inclined to deny the creditor's request for immediately removing the HF management based on a procedural issue in the law but the creditor's would be able to ask again in a couple weeks once HF submitted their official chapter 11 bankruptcy plan.

Also being discussed is the best way to recover the most money for the creditors and what a fair market value is for the golden nonce chip which HF claims is their only significant remaining asset.  They caught Simon at the Bitcoin conference in Amsterdam a couple weeks ago apparently trying to make a deal to sell the remaining inventory of chips for below market prices to a mining operation outside US jurisdiction in exchange for a stake of the mined Bitcoins which he seemed to think he could then hide from US law.

Really a lot of things are up in the air at this point so no one knows what will happen.  To use baseball by analogy this is like the first half of the first inning

so   what does a pair of s-1's clocked to 393 freq  hashing at 400gh pull on a k-watt meter?    120 volt measurement please...  do you get 800 watts or do you get more like 840?

Very nice analysis of the PSU cots power usage trade offs, here are the measurements...

Using a Model P4400 Kil-a-Watt meter these are the numbers I get...
With no load on the circuit my kill-a-watt reads 122 volts.

Stock clocks; 2 Ants...
volts: 118.3
amps: 6.76
watts: 797

Over Clocked to 393.75; 2 Ants...
volts: 118.3
amps: 7.54
watts: 889

Over Clocked to 393.75; 1 Ant...
volts: 119
amps: 3.74
watts: 442  (about 4% more efficient than the dell you reference)

Overclock Settings...
"""
option 'freq_value'     '5f05'
option 'chip_freq'      '393.75'
option 'timeout'        '36'

Do you think I could power two technobit coincraft hex8a1's with this set up?

Yes, that should work.  Depending on what HEX8A1 model we are talking about you could probably run two of the bigger ones or several under clocked or smaller ones especially if you ran off 240 volt wall power.
267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU for ANT-Miner S1s on: May 25, 2014, 09:34:43 PM
Question.. how does the noise of two Corsair power supplies compare to one of HP supplies running two ants? The Corsairs seem very quiet to me. I'm sure the HP is louder, but just wondering how it would compare to two.
Any idea?

It really depends on how you load them since the fan speed is controlled based on the temps.  The smaller fans feel a little louder than the CX750's but my S1's fans were pretty loud already so it's hard to pick out the PSU fans.

Do you guys think this PSU and board will be sufficient to power a habanero card?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=519943.0

https://peppermining.com/the-habanero/

The boards need 4  6pin power inputs each.

I'll be drawing power from a US 240v circuit.

Yes, I think it would work with a single supply if you were on 240V.  The nice thing about the Habanero is it has independent power inputs so if you were running on 120v you could use 3 Gigampz / DPS-800's per 2 Habaneros and it should work.

Anyone have a pic of what this breakout board looks like with 4 6-Pin PCIe cables screwed in?  Looks like you will have to have multiple wires in each connector hole?

    Here is a photo...

Yes you have to double up wires if you are going to attach them directly to the board.  Each contact can fit up to a size 12 AWG wire so they can easily fit two size 18 AWG and 16 AWG is a tight fit but possible.  The other options is using heavy duty cables from the board combined with a splinter as jedimstr did.

What is the 80 Plus rating on the PSU?

EDIT: Never mind Found it on the FAQ page.

EDIT2: I'm running 208v power, would that out me at 1000w or somewhere in between 850-1000?

I think you would still be ok for 1000 Watts official specs on the label are...

Input: 200 - 240v  ~/6.7 A
Output: 1000 Watts(MAX.)

There is a photo of the label listing the specs on the product page...

His cost is $71.50 w/ shipping for adapter + cables and the Gigampz cost shipped is $55.99.

How do you figure?

I don't want to get into an argument about it but I got my numbers from your price list, $42.50 for the board, $3.50 per cable and $15 for shipping.

    $42.50 + ($3.50 * 4) + $15 = $71.50

Full kit including the PSU would be $70 + $15 shipping so $85

Our price for those things respectively would be $55.99 and $82.99 so a couple bucks cheaper for a higher wattage power supply.  I haven't listed our volume prices here for the sake of brevity but I'm fairly certain they are competitive.

There are some reasons why you might choose the 750 boards over the Gigampz but best price per watt isn't one of them.  Our boards are also Made in America by a professional board assembly house in Massachusetts, nicely packed, and have the ability for basic status monitoring, and remote on/off via an active high pin which is both 3.3v and 5v compatible.  Example scripts for controlling it via a raspberry Pi are on our website.

Yesterday I go Best Buy, but only good PSU in stock was Corsair CX750M 750W PSU. I buy this so I know I can definitely run 1 AntMiner at least and keep receipt in case I need returning it.  Undecided

I find out it bad idea to run 2 AntMiner blade on one PCI-E cable with other power supply. Cable cannot handle these loads and get hot like it going to melt so I turn it off fast. But I hear some people says CX750M can powers two AntMiner?  Huh

CX750M has two PCI-E cable with 2 plug ins each. But cables are very thick, unlike on other power supply. Maybe extra guage make them work?

Is possible to run both my AntMiner on CX750M? Right now I only runs one but wish I could run other till new PSU arrive.

Check out this thread, you can run two Ant's even over clocked off the DPS-800GBA
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622783.0

I've tried the CX750M to power two ants but It was _not_ reliable for me.  I would frequently wake up in the morning to find that the PSU had over heated in the middle of the night and switched off and the problem seemed to occurred more frequently the longer I ran them.  The cables do get a little warm but the real issue for me was the reliability two Ants is slightly above the rated capacity of those supplies I think.

How much to ship to UK?

It really depends on what your order and the weight.  Boards and cables only to the UK would be about $10 extra in shipping costs.  I would recommend buying the power supplies themselves locally since they are heavy and shipping on them is very expensive.  You would also be responsible for what ever VAT or other government fees you might owe in your jurisdiction.
274  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Save 50% on PSU Costs w/ Gigampz: Breakout Board for DPS-800GBA Server PSU on: May 24, 2014, 05:30:52 AM
I sell similar cables for bare ends -> PCIe a little cheaper.  They are 30cm long and 16AWG to prevent any burning incidents if using with high-draw equipment (>300w/PCI)
 - from $2.25 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

Nice, quality cables like that are hard to find at a good price.

Motion denied? The emergency one to appoint a trustee? Why? Denied or delayed to Wednesday?

It would be great if someone spent some lines once a hearing to update us Smiley

Just got an update from someone who was listening in.  Hashfast told the court that they would voluntarily consent to a conversion to Chapter 11 bankruptcy (vs. the Chapter 7 that people are trying to force them into currently)  The judge was hesitant to appoint a trustee because they wouldn't have any authority if/once the bankruptcy was converted to chapter 11.  He didn't deny the motion he just delayed making a decision on it until Wednesday when he was perhaps expecting a more concrete answer on if HF really did intend to submit to Chapter 11.  The judge also adopt the TRO that liquidbits(?) got from arbitration that disallows HF from doing anything shady with their assets.
276  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 23, 2014, 11:05:28 PM
Hearing extended until 930am Wednesday.  I'm here now.  $2600 statutory limit for us solo purchasers.  Not sure what this means.  Something about 503b 9.  #duncwaconfused.  Motion by creditors denied.

Sounds like they are talking about the priority of the people who are owed money by HF.  As a consumer there appears to be a provision in bankruptcy law to give you priority on a pre-payment or deposit of up to $2,600 that doesn't mean you can recover the rest if you are owed more but you just wouldn't get preference on the remainder.

Quote
Bankruptcy Code Section 507(a)(7) establishes a priority for unsecured claims of individuals arising from Customer Deposits towards the purchase of goods that were not delivered up to a maximum of $2,600.  The remaining portion of the un-refunded deposit would become a general unsecured claim. Consumers owed deposits are only paid after all of the secured creditors and administrative expenses of the bankruptcy (such as bankruptcy lawyers’ fees) are paid.  As priority creditors, holders of deposits would be paid up to $2,600 before any general unsecured obligations of the retailer are satisfied.
http://blog.bdo.com/index.php/2011/06/23/treatment-of-customer-deposits-after-a-retailer-files-for-bankruptcy/

503b9 is about suppliers who are owed money by the bankrupt company and given them preference under certain circumstances.
http://www.burbageweddell.com/bankruptcy-creditor-rights-overview/section-503b9-administrative-expense-claims/

The real question is what the heck did Hashfast _do_ with all that money people gave them to build these chip & machines some large number of which were never delivered.
277  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Save 50% on PSU Costs w/ Gigampz: Breakout Board for DPS-800GBA Server PSU on: May 23, 2014, 09:40:24 PM
Not the cheapest. Sidehack's ZP750 adapter + PSU + cables comes in quite a bit cheaper for 50w less

Sidehack's solution is 11% more expensive by my math.  His cost is $71.50 w/ shipping for adapter + cables and the Gigampz cost shipped is $55.99.  On a standard American 120 volt outlet you also get 850 Watts out of this supply or 1000 if you have access to 240 Volt power which is 100W - 250W or 13 - 33% more wattage for $6.51 (11%) less cost.  The PSU's cost roughly the same if you are bargain hunting on ebay or locally.

Current Status in-stock http://gigampz.com

Update: We are currently selling boards for HP DPS-800GBA, and HP DPS-1200FBA PSUs we also have designs for DPS-2000bb, and Dell Z750 PSUs available for custom orders.  Contact us for volume pricing and current discount deals.  sales@gigampz.com

Update: We are now offering a 80Plus Platinum efficiency 1200 Watt power supply kit.  The absolute most efficient best value power supply for Bitcoin mining currently available.

A number of you may have seen my prototypes of the Gigampz breakout board for the HP DPS-800GBA server power supply I've been working on.  I'm pleased to announce that they are now on sale and available for immediate shipping through our website http://gigampz.com  Bottom line is; this is the cheapest best quality plug and play power supply solution in terms of $/watt out there that doesn't require a lot of soldering drilling or other time consuming PSU modding.  You can have a 850+ Watt PSU for less than $70 compared to a typical ATX power supply that might cost $100 or more.

These boards work with the HP DPS-800GBA server power supply the same supply used by the original ASICMiner backplane.  They can output 850 Watts (69.9 A @ 12.15V) on 120 V input or up to 1000 Watts (82.3 A @ 12.15v) on 240 V input.  The boards are built in the USA from high quality components designed to handle more current than the power supply is rated for.  The PCBs themselves have multiple heavy duty 2 oz copper power and ground planes and each of the 12 PWR/GND screw terminals is rated for 16 Amps.

This supply paired with a Gigampz breakout board is capable of running 2 AntMiner S1's over clocked, 14+ Gridseeds, as well as other ASIC equipment requiring +12 Volt power.  Additionally these boards can be controlled and monitored either manually via a supplied jumper or via a Raspberry Pi, or Arduino.  The complete Gigampz DPS-800GBA spec sheet is available on the Gigampz FAQ Page

I use a HP DPS-800GBA (850 Watts) with a Gigampz breakout board.  It's way cheaper than buying a Corsair 750W and I found the reliability to be a lot better.  Some of the corsair 750 Watt supplies would often over heat on me and randomly turn off.

I took it upon myself to create a third possibility: that of banding together the creditors to form an entity under which these remaining assets may possibly be leveraged to make everyone whole. Appointing a trustee to oversee the unwinding of the Hashfast entity (the hearing tomorrow) should give vision into what assets are available to such an entity, if it should ever come into existence. This is a work in progress, but thus far everyone I have spoken to seem to think this is the most prudent way forward.

Amen, no way I would trust any of the current Hashfast management it's long past time for them to go.
