261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 06, 2014, 04:45:13 AM
Can anybody guess how many coins you'll need too get a R9 280X? I understand it's up to the markets. I'm just curious what so people may say.

I'm assuming that it'll be pegged to how much the exchange rate is of GPU Coin to BTC to Dollars (Coinmarketcap would be good at showing this) at any given point.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 06, 2014, 04:37:21 AM
I'm sure he can.

http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GDDR5-3GB-Graphics-GV-R928XOC-3GD-REV2/dp/B00H34J64M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394080142&sr=8-1&keywords=r9+280x

I could place my bulk order and get those for $320 via amazon (20% discount). They were in stock earlier, they're getting more this week.

Just wanted to follow-up: Full refund is finally confirmed. Thanks and good luck to all.

How did you get a 20% discount?
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][IPO][RADIX][based on Ripple]First stage 40% of coins to be distributed on: March 04, 2014, 07:29:52 PM
"The Radix network, at its core, is a shared, public database. Within the database is a ledger that accounts and balances. At any time, anyone can view the ledger and see of all activity on the Radix network.
Computers on the network mutually agree on changes to the ledger through a process called consensus. The network reaches consensus globally within seconds. This consensus finding process is the engineering breakthrough that allows for fast, secure, and decentralized settlement on the Radix network.
Distributed networks offer many efficiencies over centralized networks. Because the network is "self clearing," it eliminates the need for a centralized network operator (and gets rid of the associated layer of fees). Because there is no single point of failure, distributed networks are reliable. And because they are open source, they tend to be more secure."

Sounds like a newb way to describe what Bitcoin is.   Ripple also had millions of dollars in venture capital backing it up.  I would highly encourage people to proceed with caution as this is more tilting towards SCAM.

Actually, we took that from Ripple's website.  Wink
When we finish with the development then we will care making our own descriptions.

Noone is forcing you to invest, but please don't call us scam.

We'll return the money to anyone who wants it back.

Sure. Like all the other IPO scams returned the money.  Use an Escrow then if you are legit.   Claiming that you copied the description of your coin from another coin is already a HUGE red flag in my book.  You put all the time in to design the site, the social media, but yet can't even describe what your product is about in your own words and just copy it from another site?  Sure, sounds pretty legit to me.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 04, 2014, 07:20:48 PM
I would like to throw two cents in:

1) Communication : I think the biggest issue we are dealing with is the CEO is simply not a communicator.  That's fine, everyone has their skills.  I think he should appoint someone (maybe me?) to handle communications.  All questions/comments/concerns would get directed to a this PR person and then Jaymes would agree to regularly communicate that one person.

2) Scam? I can't imagine anyone thinking this is a scam.  If the CEO wanted rip everyone off he would just take off after the IPO ended.  He wouldn't have calculated all the percentages. He wouldn't have tried to relaunch so many times. etc. etc. etc.

3) Developers : I think we need to find someone with proven track record and ensure they get paid properly.  I don't have the technical knowledge to ensure this happens but I think we can overcome this by Sunday.

4) Community : I think there are way to many people here that are just out to make a quick buck and don't care about this coin at all.  I would like to see long term success and the only way that will happen is with a solid community.  If we can, lets drop the people that don't care about this coin at all.

5) Refunds : I think the CEO has to be honest what is possible here. I assume he spent most/all of the initial seed money on GPUs (as he said he would).  If someone wants a refund he should get it writing, calculate how much money people are requesting for a direct refund, see if they would be interested in trading for a GPU and perhaps determine a pay back strategy.  This issue is probably the most sensitive and I'm guessing that people are going to get upset about this no matter what (understandably).  I also think that this is what might scare the CEO the most and make him most likely to "run".  If we could be reasonable about things I think we can overcome this.

I agree with you especially in light of #2.  However, the concern of myself and the other investors is if this is how he behaved when we haven't even launched yet, how is is he going to handle problems after we launch?  Is he going to not listen, string people on and go awol every time an issue comes up?  Reputation goes a long way here and if the coin gets a bad rep, then it won't be worth anything.  Last night Polo exchange got hacked.  The CEO IMMEDIATELY COMMUNICATED what happened, apologized, came up with a fair course of action, announced it and implemented it.  That is the way you run a business.   Problems are always going to come up , its how you react to them that makes or breaks you.

All I can say is that he needs to go along way to prove himself.

I would not invest unless an escrow is involved.  99% of the  IPOs on here so far have been nothing but SCAMS and people have lost BTC including myself.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 04, 2014, 06:53:06 PM
I've been up for 24 hours at this point trying to see things through and it's time for bed.

IPO investors, look forward to an e-mail tomorrow about all of the issues and choices (including refund, if needed, since this launch was a fail) as I will still pound on and try to get this thing kick started.

Let's see if he follows through on this.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN GPUCOIN FAILURE] IPO IMMEDIATE REFUNDS on: March 04, 2014, 06:35:15 PM
The reason why I invested as well is because he was registered as an LLC.  He posted on the main GPUCoin thread that he is going to contact the investors with an update including a refund today.  Let's see if he follows through on that.

I also did a PropertyShark search on 913 Woodcott Drive and it shows the above property is owned by a "Galle John L Jr".  I'm not sure what the relation is between Jaymes Reilly and this person, but now, I'm beginning to question his legitimacy.

good to know .. but doesn´t sounds good

Could be his "partner", with the "sister company" he refused to name. The guy who has a "degree in business".

http://www.peoplefinders.com/search/searchpreview.aspx?searchtype=people-name&fn=John&ln=Galle&city=Harrisonburg&state=VA&utm_source=wp3&utm_campaign=detailepdyn&utm_content=address

The John Galle the property belongs to is the first one listed (60 years old).  It's very possible that this "James Reilly" used a stolen identity (with a stolen SSN) to form the LLC.  I have a feeling that if we knocked on this guy's door today and asked him about his involvement with this coin, he would probably have no clue what we're talking about.

The only thing that has me thinking that this isn't a scam is the fact that he tried to re-launch the coin multiple times after he collected the IPO. I also invested what I was willing to lose (ID# 276- 1 BTC) but I still don't want to see my investment disappear.

[10:15] <@cryptowest> premining now. first fucking block orphaned again and im not resetting, so u guys gonna hve to wait a minute for me to get the CEO his IPO payment
[10:15] <@cryptowest> we'll have block explorer up tonight

Are these the real devs?  If so, these are the most unprofessional devs I've ever seen; and they sound like a bunch of dumbass teenagers smoking pot and living out of their mom's basement.   I honestly can't believe the CEO hired these idiots.

You honestly believe a "CEO" even exists? I can assure you there is not one. And there never was one.

https://sccefile.scc.virginia.gov/Business/S490555

You can't fake this. I've filled for LLCs before.  Plus, If he wanted to pull off a scam, he would not have even tried to launch last night and just ran away.  What's the point of wasting time trying to re-launch again tonight and getting everything right except for the block rewards?  Scammers run right after they get your money.  I think he's just embarrassed to tell everyone now that he screwed up with his poor choice of devs.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 04, 2014, 09:28:25 AM
This kind of shitcoins are giving the cryptocurrencies a bad name. Cryptocurrency is based on trust, the GPUcoin is a scam run by technical incompetent idiots.

I did not invest my time in this shitcoin but I am fascinated about how many peolple are still believing in this technical faux pas.

The problem isn't the coin. It looks like the CEO made a stupid mistake and hired a bunch of incompetent teenagers who clearly don't know what their doing to develop this coin. They seriously sound like their 14 yr olds.

I think the CEO had good intentions from the get go but goofed up with choosing good devs.

What pool do I leave my miners pointed whilst I sleep?

Sack staying up till 4am on a weekday for this...

I point them at RevolutionCoin to protest against the continuing trend of failed launches.

I tried to let you know.  I hope some of you took the advice.  Smiley

You know the best way to get them back?

Don't mine the coin...mine something different.
Don't post in the thread.
Don't ask them to re-re-re-relaunch.
Just leave and never look back.

The university coin dev cannot be an ivory tower, far away from the society community, removed from the practical accomplishments of the Revolution. If such an attitude is maintained, the university coin dev will continue giving our society community lawyers failed launches that we do not need. -CHE Guevara

best is if pool owners say no we wont launch it instead of us....

One pool already said "fuck it"

who?

Correction, its 2 now.   http://gpu.pool.mn/

<@cryptowest> hold on to your nuggets

I'm on the IRC channel as well.  I don't believe that's the dev.

Please stop the spam. It's hard to read and follow this topic.

Can someone please tell me where are we standing with this coin? It has done 2 launch failures already?

How will we get our IPO coins?

Thanks in advance

4 or 5 failures. Good luck.

It's not so much the IPO coins I'm worried about as much as the confidence miners, traders and all other relevant stakeholders will have in this coin.  Even if this coin launches, which I'm pretty sure it will, if people sees this coin as another joke coin, the value of our coins will be worthless.

CEO/Dev is setting up new nodes as I type this.

How long?

I think, by seeing the graphs of DRK and other coins, that the thief on Polo just took the BTCs and got away, instead of pulling a c-cex. Keep us posted on the situation, but so far it seems "ok" (except for polo or people who lost BTCs).

Where do you see this?

Poloniex tweets.

How the hell are these guys pulling this off?  Are they using some sort of hacking software or something?

BTC stolen from polo. Here we go again.

They are testing QT now...

Would have been nice if they got this all figured out -before- the launch.

If only they'd listened to the IPOs who begged them to hold off on launch announcement until it was tested.. lol

+1  In all fairness, instead of dragging people along like this and half assing this launch, they should

1)Brush up on the meaning of "Communicating" to all their stakeholders (Investors and Miners)
2)Issue an official apology to everyone
3)Push off launch date by one or two days
4)Test Re-Test and Re-Re-Re Test to make sure everything will go without a hitch

All I can say is if a business operated this way in the real world, they would be done in a heartbeat.  I certainly hope they won't continue to manage this coin this way.
