I'll buy Satoshi a beer, I don't give a shit if he gets rich. He's already done a lot to enlighten many of us.

these banksters are having more and more battles to fight and even though they are quite a daunting adversary they are losing steam and breaking down behind the scenes. They will attempt all they can to maintain their face through fear, and the more they try and the bigger their stunt the more we realise how week and desperate they are and not the other way round. Fear is a very very weak level of power and I remain utterly convinced that this control system is done with one way or another and the world will be rid of these parasites gradually in a manner that we collectively can handle. I expect and contribute my thoughts and action to the dismantlement of this illusion.
+1 The fearful and the uneducated make up the masses. Maybe most people just don't want to look for a different path. Exactly why we must educate the uneducated. It will be slow at first, but it will exponentially pick up speed as more and more people share their information and knowledge with others. The information revolution and the development of internet have set the stage for bitcoin to now be availble to the world. But the duty of spreading this treasure of a knowledge with the uneducated lies within each of us. More people we share about bitcoin with the better everyone will be off at the end. I mean this not only as a metaphorical grand scheme sense, but also in a monetary standing terms for every individual involved and invested in bitcoin's success. It's by design. The most important difference now is that more and more people are becoming aware that something is wrong with the current economic system. They just really need someone to show them what it is that is truly plaguing the current system and how bitcoin can be an answer to many of it's shortcomings. But do they want to be educated? Have you seen some of the hate videos and comments that's been going around on Youtube? It's like teaching pigs to fly. I think the biggest barrier of all is that Bitcoin is so new, so much of a polar opposite of "normal" currency, and way above the technicality of your average joe, that by the time that they might get the idea, those in position of powers would have already killed it.

If I set up a wallet to only receive and never use it to send, will the original wallet.dat work? I won't need to always update the wallet.dat do I? I just want to avoid exposing my wallet file to the internet as much as possible until I need to spend all of it.

Well regardless of the mix-up, at least he's willing to give Bitcoins.

So much drama over one little concept of decentralized currency. The spin doctors are paid and out in full aren't they?

I've been seeing this theme a lot, where people think that bitcoins are somehow not a fair system, since the early adopters have a lot more bitcoins accrued than newcomers.
To me this is nothing but stupid greed.. it's like being pissed off that you didn't get apple stock when they first IPO'd, so now it's 1998, the iMac is about to come out, and you don't want to invest because by doing so you'll just further enrich the lucky (or enlightened) few that got in at a better price, when there is plenty of upside potential on the horizon.
I'm a newcomer, I've got less bitcoins currently than I have fingers, and it doesn't bother me in the *slightest* that the early-adopters have been rewarded for their forethought and risk-tolerance. They deserve to profit, because without them bitcoin wouldn't be what it is today. Free markets reward good ideas. I may be slightly late to the party, but the night is still young, and I'm happy I'm to be here now. Bitcoin has a long exciting future ahead of it, and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.
Happy trading/mining..
Yep. Early adopters is almost always required for projects like these to take off. To be honest, in the beginning I got into Bitcoins because I thought I might profit from it. I sold an AMD card to someone locally who's very much into Bitcoin before I even heard about this stuff. But over the past few weeks the question of whether Bitcoins is profitable for me or not is no longer important. What is important is that Bitcoins has made me question the very foundation of our crumbling society, it's more than just $. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Bitcoin take off and get a share, because we all like money. And I'm not delusional about the fact that most people joined in and stuck around to become speculators. But even if Bitcoin somehow dies off, the idea behind it can never be taken away.

I'll still mine just the heck of it because I like the political statement behind Bitcoins.

that was not the question. if its away/deleted there, it comes somewhere other.
Is this cracked bitcoin miner responsible for huge increase of Thash/s ?
Is that fake or is that true?
A 6990 has the power it has. Im sure you can not cheat on it. Just overclocking.
If its true and no fake the whole bitcoin project is in danger because the cheat must be based on the encrypted system itself.
that would be 2 weeks of fun for all but then all 21mio bitcoins are generated (and worthless)
Are you trolling? "If its true", give me a break man. There is no way to "hack" your miners so they give you 500GH/S, use your common sense. Open your eyes and look at what types of comments that are left and WHO left them. They're all hackers promoting cheats so they have access to your computer.

Found this link on related videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygoqDBfjimM&feature=relmfuReally good interview, I watched the whole thing. Bruce impressed me and I hope his enthusiasm for bitcoin spreads. He should be going on more shows talking about bitcoin because I think he did a great job. Unfortunately reading through the youtube comments I dont get a feeling that bitcoin was being received well. A lot of posters are really against the idea, rehashing the same old (debunked) criticisms. I think there is still a very large hurdle to get over in winning over the mainstream, and particularly with the crazy events going on the past few weeks, the hurdle is only getting higher. Wasn't there a report a few years back about how there's a large percentage of computer users who actually LIKED having adware and spyware on their computers because it gave them stupid toolbars and shit like that? It's going to be tough to convince such "critics" with an IQ ranging from 0 to 1. Heck, I don't even know how some of the Youtubers even managed to get on the internet.

HAHA, Oh man that guy is such a dumbass. He doesn't know a goddamn thing about bitcoin, and is just an agent provocateur. Nothing to see here everyone, this guys youtube videos are just bullshit. I'm sorry but the guy sounds like a douche. Yes, a real douche. Here's the NBC snippet. Not sure what we can make out of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCy6mw39nrAEDIT: Okay I think it's mostly negative but whatever. The TheWeeklyTelegram's logo is a morph of NBC's. Interesting.

If a car was stolen, then sold, the car would still be seized, even if the buyer is innocent. Maybe that's not the best analogy but I think Mt Gox is doing the right thing. We don't really know who Kevin Day is.

Bitcoin is part of a meme shift of unparalleled proportions. Information has escaped a draconian stage and everyone who views Bitcoin sees a facet of this newness drawing everyone down the rabbithole. Cavalier attitudes are garnered for the way some profiteers have played their hands, while other attitudes are thinly disguised intent bought and paid for by who knows. If I told you a little know program developed to be some joke about banks or world finance would devour such feverish attention in a tiny span of time, you would think me daft. Information is coming out of the darkness and into the light. That is what Synaptic was sent here to control. In this thread there are several handlers that try to drive conversation along well-thought out lines of challenge. Everyone else is just along for the ride. This Dragon is a "methane" dragon full of foul stench and hot upon every challenge. There are plenty of other dragons in other postings. Last Saturday many Moderators had their profiles spoofed as quick clones. I saw Atlas appear as Atas, Alas, _Atlas in a matter of minutes. Me thinks we have professionals that will simply goad serious posters to endless depths and chase newbies off at any cost. The media fails to cover their own shark-infested comment sections, what makes you think they care about ours? This is not a battle to be won, the battle was over the minute that a new meme escaped the realm of human thinking. This meme is just the edge of a sword, the strike of a match, the dust of a tempest, and a distant echo of thunder. Weeks of Synap'tick won't change that, so how do you like them apples?
Nicely written... though a bit theatrical.

Satoshi where are you when we need you?? You solved the Byzantine generals problem and invented distributed currency, okay. Now it's time to invent distributed exchange. Woah, I want that for my wallpaper, even if Bitcoin does fail!
