Just curious, have folks started getting their DRK deposits cleared into cryptsy without problems?

Sure, no problem whatsoever, although it is a bit slow. Took about 40 minutes for my funds to appear on cryptsy yesterday.

Withdrawal took took about 20 minutes after I got the confirmation email.

Side note in all this excitement. I vote for the next Darkcoin release with InstantX to be named Darkcoin Obsidian.

Let me guess, you're a minecrafter?  LOL  Grin Cheesy Grin

My first grade son killed the enderdragon for the first time today.  It was a glorious moment for him.  Then at his soccer game, he ran too far, slipped and went headlong into a concrete planter.  Luckily my brother is a plastic surgeon.  In all the excitement of the day, i forgot about dark.  It seems it takes care of itself.

woa, that is some hard shit man... money&crypto are a low priority in the grand scheme of things

I miss Mintpal interface and their depth charts in bitcoins with a linear scale, not a logaritmic one Sad

Which exchange is that out of interest ?

the most liquid one - cryptsy. May not have the best interface but has two-thirds of the volume at the moment.

How about 35 of us all put in 1 Bitcoin and bulldoze that sellwall to kingdom come.

Yes lets take a small bite

Let's put money where your mouth is:

On a side note, can someone link the guide on how to set up a second MN on the same wallet, thanks

Anyone?
This feature is still in development and not available in 0.10.15.x series

The best best way of right now is to just do the process again just on another computer?
You can use the same computer - either create another user or use "-datadir" property to create a second wallet.

I am using a few virtual machines to do that - like to have everything on a single PC.

ALERT ALERT ALERT

Just got a phishing email asking me to download 10.15.19 v2 Windows Release.

This is obviously a malware, watch out!

One would say that there is a little chance of someone falling for it but last time we had some cases so just to be sure to be sure!

is it possible to burn drk for drk 2.0 to get rid of old clients and start fresh?

its not a real proposal, just wondering if its technically possible.

Each protocol bump should kick everything else off the network, and thus be a fresh start.

This enforcement thing has been holding back development since May. The current mining architecture just isn't a good fit for what Darkcoin is trying to achieve.

I have proposed making mining via Masternodes mandatory many times, and just get called a 'Nazi' and a 'retarded fucking Jew' (by the same people... Roll Eyes) - the nearest I've had to a sensible argument against it is that pools need beefier hardware than Masternodes, but why not require pools to obtain compliance tokens from Masternodes first that are required for a block to be accepted?

There are lots of ways it could be done but nobody seems interested.

I am more and more coming to believe that PoW is a dead end. Centralised pools do not secure the network, they are a security liability. Nobody wants to talk about it. Mining costs do not translate into coin value. Nobody wants to admit it. For the last six months PoW has just held back development, it has done nothing whatsoever to add value.

Shifting block reward in favour of Proof of Service is a good move, but the timeframe is too long and it's meaningless if PoW can still fuck things up.

PoW has been a spanner in the works for half a year now, my fear is that it is also going to make InstanTX unworkable as well.

BUMP BUMP BUMP

Couldn't agree more!

Does ANYONE know, whether this vulnerability (DDoSing TOR to get IP of BTC users - https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-tor-anonymity-can-busted-2500-month/) apply to DRK as well? If so, will the InstantX sort this issue (as a side effect)?

This is an important one - Darkmarkets would have little motivation for change if DRK does not provide them with anonymity.
Please focus at the question and not general rants about TOR being inherently insecure, thx Smiley

940 Masternodes, perfect network stability with 10.15.16, nearly 70% voluntary pool compliance already thanks to Tao, tungfa, splawik and everyone else... things are looking good.

I think we'll see north of 1100 Masternodes by December, hopefully closer to 1200.

Evan and the rest of the distributed team have achieved something fucking remarkable here, and this is just the start.

That MN overview / updater looks f impressive !

Is there any way to check whether my masternodes are up when chaeplin's site is down?

https://drk.mn/masternodes.html

or ip:9999

http://en.dnstools.ch/port-scan.html

that is great, thanks! Have a mac client so could not grep it

Who in the community provides masternode setup services still? I'm looking to make a list

Also, is there a good guide somewhere?

This one may not look appealing but it helped me a lot as it contains all necessary linux commands as well:

what's the ROI of running a masternode? Might be interested.

Around 23% a year if the price remains the same; higher if it goes up, lower if it goes down.
However there will be a gradual increase of MN payments at the expense of miners so the ROI is likely to go up.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: October 08, 2014, 01:32:39 PM
Would not mind even a simple
5 or 6 step HOW TO guide on how to do the update attached to the official communication - not all of us are running the nodes since May!

Regular user: download new client, and use it.

Pool and MN ops: should know how to update their pools and MNs!  Wink

For MN ops that don't have a clue, see one of the guides darkcointalk, but the gist is simple - replace the darkcoind running on your MN with the new one, restart the MN from the local wallet. It's not difficult.

Sure, get your points but every couple of pages here you see a newbie (incl. me not so long ago:) ) trying to update the masternode and the ambiguity could be removed by a short official how-to posted below every update.

There was misinformation in here, this is not just for masternode operators, this is for pools and end-users as well. EVERYONE NEEDS TO UPDATE.
+1

I also thought it's just the MNs that need the update.
Everyone has to update !

Yep, this was not the only time the official information was missing a key message.
I appreciate technological solution is key but there is also a need to properly communicate it to the community. Would not mind even a simple
5 or 6 step HOW TO guide on how to do the update attached to the official communication - not all of us are running the nodes since May!

... CPU ... There's always a chance I'll solve a block.
Sure. Totally... :-p

This isn't about solving blocks.  Its about distributing the network hash rate.

EXACTLY !!!!

The blocks are just the bonus :-D

May be I am wrong about this, but I think it doesn't really matter. The "51% attack" is about having >50% of the network hash rate. A few (let alone virtual) CPU cores here and there don't really matter. They start to solve the block but effectively never finish it and thus they never actually have any effect on the blockchain. They do not mine any blocks, they are only trying to find the solution (and their work gets flushed when somebody else finds it before them).
Wild luck doesn't count here (unless you are hoping for the block reward as a lottery), because you would need a series of wild lucks in an externally defined time frame (solve several blocks in a row until the >50% entity looses it's adventage).

Forget about mining. Forget about brute forcing x11. X11 is here only to assure decentralisation - something we do not have to worry about with Masternode infrastructure. All that is needed is decentralised processing of transaction, which requires 0.0000x% computation power and any masternode CPU can do that.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: October 02, 2014, 09:19:16 PM
Precisely. LTC was, and is, a scam.

But, much like dogecoin, it proves to us that the fundamentals of how a crypto might work, as outlined by satoshi, are, in fact, not anywhere near as delicate as he thought.

Doge: Zero diff coin of infinite inflation has more market cap than we do, none of the users have any damn clue how it works or how fundamentally horrible it is, and it brings absolutely nothing to the table.

Lite: Calling yourself silver is all it takes to snatch up hundreds of millions in stupid peoples' money. Algo that is the 100% opposite of what it claims to be, nobody is smart enough to notice, brings nothing to the table.

Great summary Camo

It seems like we need a catchphrase to attract the masses. "E Pluribus Obscurum" sounds nice and the translations too, but can Latin appeal to the general public as well as the pure genius of "Such wow" or "The silver to Bitcoin's gold"?

What about, "Naughty, but nice!" Wink

edit: full credit to Salman Rushdie.

"Such Dark"
"Darkcoin. Privacy matters."
"Bitcoin - 2009. almost anonymous. almost instant.
Darkcoin - 2013. Anonymous. Instant.
"

Another one:
You do not need Darkcoin. You have nothing to hide.   Wink

Some nice ones.

Darkcoin. Bankerless Swiss banking.
Swiss is not what it used to be.. would avoid referring to it:
