261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: November 12, 2015, 04:22:58 AM

My interest in Aeon is that it is a potentially amazing radical private currency that is suited particularly for low-fidelity hardware. We're on libertarian crypto-anarchist territory here. I'm not sure dressing it up as a BMW is the right approach.

So what is your objective? Think carefully about this.

Excellent point. I see Aeon as a CryptoNote test bed focused on applications for low-fidelity hardware. This is a large and important market.  M-Pesa targets this market and is doing extremely well.

Luxury branding will cause much of the existing community to reject Aeon as that is a market best left to Monero. Unless you want to alienate the Monero community (which I believe makes up most of the small Aeon community now) I would be very careful.

I prefer the current logo and see no reason to change it:

Anyone else notice that crypto_zoidberg logged in again today? Hello!

I will go with d6 again. We do not need to castle yet.

O-O: 2 votes (Hueristic, Boolberry)
d6: 1 vote (Morecoin Freeman)

O-O: 3 votes (Hueristic, Boolberry, languagehasmeaning)
d6: 1 vote (Morecoin Freeman)

I prefer to castle here. Depending on how white responds we may want to play d5 instead of d6.

b5: 1 vote  (galdur)

I vote 6...b5.

b5: 2 votes (galdur, hermesesus)

b5: 3 votes (galdur, hermesesus, languagehasmeaning)

For any beginners wondering, b5 prevents the threat of Bxc6 and Nxe5. For example:

6.Re1  O-O
7.Bxc6 dxc6
8.Nxe5

The same idea did not work last move because of e4 being unprotected:

6.Bxc6 dxc6
7.Nxe5 Nxe4 regaining the pawn.

Boolberry price is very low. So sad

Don't be sad. Boolberry is an altcoin.  Altcoins are volatile.  Boolberry has been around for a significant amount of time.  It's not going away.

Secure your wallet and do what you can to promote and advance Boolberry.

I think there are two factors :
-first almost all altcoin have decreased in btc value with the recent rise of BTC/USD : eth, xmr, maid ... have suffered from this and began to recover
- second, there is some trouble in the supernet project : there is some conflict between nxt dev and supernet dev who have dumped a huge amount of nxt : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762346.5620 and https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/msg199646/#msg199646

I believe bbr will recover mostly : afterall, the link between supernet and bbr has already weakened a lot some months ago

More people should follow the lead of damashup and make games and services to support Boolberry. Test our popboolr today!
http://popboolr.com/originaltweets

Keep asking shapeshift.io to add boolberry. It will make spending it much easier at many btc merchants and those who use their API

I just realized this thread was moved to announcements from the altcoin section?

Why? Who requested the change?

Its purpose is very similar to these threads which remain in the correct section:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1197508.0

Boolberry should be treated the same as other CryptoNote coins!

If a moderator sees this, please move our thread back here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

Thank you

So if you as the thread starter did not request the move only mod could do it?

Really mod, what would a speculation thread do on the announcement board, announce trading and price speculation?

I wish the moderator in question would say what their reasoning was. This makes no sense to me.

I also use Chesstempo for training chess tactics. Helps a lot to get better.

I agree with you. Studying tactics is one of the best ways to improve.

From what I have heard Boolberry features a 1% constant dev-mine:

Quote
Developer Bounty:  Up to 1% (Controlled by miner's votes)

I understand that the miners can turn this off, but it will just be reassessed retroactively at a later time.  I apologize if this has been asked before, and if so please point me to any comments where this is explained/justified.  It seems thinly justifiable as a dev fund, and paints the entire project as more of a commercial endeavor rather than an altruistic one designed to create a worldwide private ledger.  I understand that everyone needs to eat, and even Aeon's primary dev Smooth has inherited a small treasure hoard of coins to use for support & development.  It's the recurring, non-voluntary nature of this that makes me cautious.  And I am forced to extrapolate that if it makes me cautious, it will make others cautious too down the road.

So I'm reading over your ANN topic and some of your other materials; if you have anything to add to my thoughts, I'd love to hear it.

I am going to assume you have an issue with the FORM of the developer bounty not the amount, because Aeon has already donated a development bounty (over 400,000 coins) far in excess of the bounty that the current Boolberry dev min reward will generate for the entire lifetime of the coin.

crypto_zoidberg has done more than enough to earn his bounty so far and I think he should be paid more. The same way Aeon may be forked to add perpetual 0.8888% emission, Boolberry could fork to eliminate the dev mining bounty. Instead we could collect donations for certain benchmarks which IMHO should be for more than the current perpetual 1% reward.

Do you agree that the dev bounty amount should not not be in question (or is probably too low)?

I agree with you that a new incentive structure would be preferable and it should be created if we can reach a consensus.

Why did this Boolberry thread get locked?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=697355.0

Maybe you should ask the person who started it. Threads can be locked for many reasons. This thread and the new Boolberry speculation thread should be enough.

I don't recall locking it.
Hey, how's it been? What you been up to?

Nice to see more long term supporters of Boolberry become more active lately!
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: November 03, 2015, 01:12:50 AM

If I am investing $100,000 in man-hours, I will make sure the project isn't "el cheapo" when it comes to marketing.

Knowing you, you probably value your time at about $10k per hour, so intend to invest about ten hours into this.   Wink

I think TBTB is referring to Smooth, not himself but I could be wrong

Helpful post regarding the BBR alias feature from the announcement thread:

"Wallet address aliasing: any wallet can be linked with symbolic name via special type extra record in coinbase. Block chain will control registered names uniqueness."

how to create and use such name/alias ?

It's easy if you're solo mining.

http://boolberry.com/howto.html#aliases

How to use aliases

You can map your long address string with short nickname, and it can be used in transfer commands.
Mapping is possible when you find a block and each block can map only one alias. The valid alias characters are lower case English letters, numbers, hyphen and periodin order to protect aliases from "phishing" and cheats. .
#define VALID_ALIAS_CHARS     "0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz-."
If you do mining and want to set up your miner to add alias to blockchain, pass this command into daemon console:

make_alias luckycat 1GY1d9z41rBPUghdQaW2h62AV6z5FJ7TsCAbYQhbW6k2ZFLEfYhVV45DnqKRGPq7RLEpTsJVjpQKYWf tK7LeMfjiUq4oDYa
The alias will not be committed into blockchain if the alias is already in use.

This seems like a nice feature for merchants who would like to have easy to remember addresses for accepting payments.
