261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 04, 2016, 12:07:06 PM
The thing is it may take some time for monero to get established but it still has the edge over bitcoin in terms of traceability.

More edges than that: adaptive blocksize with the tail emission for example... bitcoin is still figuring out if, when and how they will tackle that problem... thus bitcoin is f-ing slow sometimes, sometimes I have to wait for 45 minutes + untill a transaction is sufficiently confirmed...

Will not even begin to talk about problems like mining-centralisation, the way btc is politicized at the top etc...

But I like what I'm reading, the overly bullishness is gone and people are looking only at price and forgetting the bigger picture... xmr isn't just some altcoin like the dozens others

unlike pumps of other shitcoins, xmr has great fun-durr-mentals... it's the first fungible digital cash for god's sake!!!!

best regards

How about this for "Soon" (an excerpt from The Gates Of Delirium)?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__E2MCi35ZA

Are you new to monero too? Soon is nothing new here. I still need to buy more, so not soon is better. Tongue

No, I'm not new to Monero, I've been around since pretty much the beginning in early 2014 and at one time was all in for about 16K Monero.  Unfortunately, when things came to a crawl last year I "diversified" my portfolio which was a huge mistake.  I've been watching, reading and learning a lot, I just rarely post.  Right now, I just really need for this to hit a new ATH again and help me move a little closer to retirement.

"Sometimes it's better to be quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!"

Hahaha... No worries my friend. If you trawl my post history, you will see me admit to dumping 15K+ xmrs a month before the halvening due to feeling overexposed.

Regrets are a constant in life. Nobody can predict the future, but I'm definitely a lot more wary of selling off the remainder of what I had left. I too have been into XMR (MRO LOL) since 2014 as my history shows.
You are definitely right, if only we can predict the future then we are already rich now. Anyway, I think we have to sell our Monero now, I am losing my trust already, the recent trends tells me one thing. "FAILURE", after the big pump, I think it will die soon... I hate to say this but that's how I feel.

So "die" = "price goes down"

Let's ignore the fact that the price is up several 100% this year still.

I actually like to read that, a little bit more of that bearish sentiment and we might start getting a trend-reversal... might even start buying again here...

bitcoin already died hundreds of times...

...

I've already revealed this on #monero-markets so it's nothing new, but I have sold ~94% of my XMR during this rally.

Lol at what amount of XMR do you have to say approximately 94% of your stash, rather than approximately 95%? When does that approximately 1% make a significant difference? 10k? 100k? More?
I've sold more than 200k so it makes a good difference.

200k xmr? or $-value?  Huh Huh Huh
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 29, 2016, 12:08:52 PM
Beginning to agree that the lack of a GUI wallet is being perceived as indicative of scam by the reddit hordes; it doesn't matter what the reality is, perceptions count (cf the clod Trump running for president).

hmmz, wouldn't know why the lack of a GUI wallet would be perceived as a scam... most scams have a very shiny wallet to attract dumb money that likes 'blingbling' without caring about fundamentals...

have to agree that perception is everything though... anyway, if it goes sub 0.013 I will be buying again...

extensive explanation

I admire you sir... the patience with which you try to explain this to someone who doesn't want to understand is very very admirable...

For what it's worth, I enjoy your writings very much!

268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Monero Qt GUI, cross platform full XMR node. on: September 22, 2016, 08:10:26 PM
I started discussion on Reddit, this is crazy and strange there, so i will start it here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/53zlmw/monero_qt_gui_wallet_is_ready/

New Monero Qt wallet preview video https://sendvid.com/3fxx9asd#

So. Monero GUI wallet is ready. Qt. Full XMR node. Linux, OsX, Windows.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/53ip1h/making_xmr_gui_i_want_to_start_fund_raising_guide/

It is based on https://github.com/cryptonotefoundation/cryptonotewallet as i said before.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/53zlmw/monero_qt_gui_wallet_is_ready/d7xu26f
Whats wrong with you people? I just don't get it. It's crazy. Whats up with this community? Shame on you. Monero has no good GUI, just the fact. The thing i saw at https://github.com/mbg033 is just another RPC thing.
I forked https://github.com/cryptonotefoundation/cryptonotewallet and adapted it to Monero. Of course you should not trust any software before exploring source code, of course I don't ask for a single penny before everything will be verified and i will answer all questions about new GUI wallet. But did i provided binary or source code? No. What dragons? Dragons in video I provided with compiled wallet, working on Ubuntu 14.04 version? Are you kidding me? Look, there is nothing special about that. Monero need to have the GUI for ages as i see from topics history. Not RPC things to connect to simplewallet. There is a fundraising for Monero GUI, guy who is making new GUI https://github.com/mbg033 provides another RPC based solution. Instead I provide simple and well known Bitcoin alike Qt wallet. Single cross platform binary: wallet + ful monero node. Yes, I run pool, iIdon`t own that f**cking monero domain, moreover, I will move my pool from pool.monero.org subdomain asap. It's crazy.

I love the QT that you came up with.... open it up for the core devs to review and give there blessing and I'm sure it will be embraced by the whole community...  I personally love the simplicity of the QT wallet over all these new flashy wallets!!

+1 think it looks great!

kudos where kudos due, now just a checkup if everything is ok and we're good to go...

269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Monero replace Bitcoin soon? on: September 22, 2016, 02:02:52 PM
I really think it could. Its superior in so many ways.

Jap, same here, not saying it WILL happen, but there's a chance...

XMR is better technologically and 'monetarilly'...
BTC has the network-effect though...

let's see what's more important in the long run...

270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE RISE AND RISE OF MONERO on: September 22, 2016, 11:16:20 AM
Is the current price of Xmr @ around .017 btc still viable to buy? Im trading on Poloniex and looking for some altcoins to invest

trading <--> investing

you'll first have to decide what exactly you want to do... or do you wanne do both...

I'd say for investing (long term), XMR is one of the best (if not the best) alts out there... The fundamentals are just outstanding... but don't take my word for this, go out and research for yourself!!!!

For trading, which means short term profit, I just don't know so I can't give you any advice... I think trading crypto's is very hard, I tried it with bitcoin in 2013 and only lost money until I decided to just hold... Never traded crypto's since, but I'm sure there are some old timers here who can give you some solid advice for trading (probably aminorex, Truecryptonaire, ... )

Fortunately, no one has reported any loss of funds, and it would require some special effort for most people to actually expose themselves to such exploitation.

sigh, the shit that gets thrown around here these days...
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wonder how much XMR is actually used on the DNM on: September 22, 2016, 08:06:11 AM

But that is not the point. The point was that the merchants that are accepting XMR is decreasing despit the threat of being caught using "transparent BTC". Or maybe they prefer bitcoins + using a tumbling service instead because it is more convenient for them. Whatever the reason is if the merchants accepting XMR is decreasing instead of increasing  then that is not a good sign.

Also your reaction is very much like the Ostrich picture who refuses to listen to feedback.

Any proof for these bolded claims would be nice... otherwise you're just juggling empty airballs...

best regards,
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wonder how much XMR is actually used on the DNM on: September 22, 2016, 08:03:49 AM
Uh, yes it would, as most users arent coders at all? Darknet thug buyers and sellers dont know the technology behind it, they were taught the simplest way with bitcoin by their nerd buddy who happens to be smart enough to know how to transact safely without losing it all.

you arent coding a new coin... all you need is a wallet and that's simple. if you can configure tor you know something(basics at least).
and if a friend of yours run your "business", well, your friend is probably managing btc for you and can do the same with xmr.... you are failing to see the diference between the drug dealer from your street to a DNM drug dealer.

He doesn't fail to see... He doesn't want to see cause he's an SDC-shill...

edit: 23/09 is a friday, another XMR-french-weekend?

276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XMR the next bitcoin? on: September 21, 2016, 12:55:11 AM
lol.... Cheesy XMR don't have even official GUI after 2 years and you want to be top Cheesy

YES, indeed, crazy right... even without a GUI XMR is already a top-performing coin... Can't imagine what will happen once it hase a GUI!!!!

That's where Shadowcash and the Umbra platform it runs on could really find success

Why? SDC's code was mathematically broken and transactions could be deanonimyzed, it still isn't peerreviewed, so who knows what else might break... They switched from pow to pos after about 2 weeks (smells like scam, no?). Then a few weeks ago they used a countdown clock to create hype and surf the XMR-anonimity-wave (countdown clocks are the oldest tricks in the book) and whenever SDC tries to promote itself it starts of by attacking XMR and other 'anon-coins' which is pathetic all by itself...

but I know, I know,

"There a sucker born every minute" ~ P.T. Barnum

So I guess SDC won't implode right away...

Re: Could Monero replace Bitcoin soon?

Short answer, No.
Long answer, Fuck no.

Don't you have anything else to waste time on?

like euh, I don't know, searching for evidence to prove your empty claims: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1621525.0

Your credibility is nill...

I can care less about proving myself to you or the other low rollers here in the forums.  I just feel bad for people getting scammed and cant bring myself to allow people to peddle scams and take peoples money. Just want newbs to WAKE UP and be aware of these scams in the altcoin world.

oh please, a 3-month-old shill account wanting to defend newbies... guess what, you're the newbie here, and it's obvious you know jack shit about monero and didn't do any due diligence at all... If you want to come over as serious, then please, start backing your claims with some proof, otherwise you gonna be called out for what you are, a shilling newbie who knows nothing and is just throwing empty airballs in the air trying to spread FUD...

your credibility is now less than nill, well done!

Not everyone can read Chinese.

I do not see the price of Monero reaching $100 this year, probably sometime next year if the pump continues unabated.

I wouldn't call it a 'pump' anymore... I'd say it's a 'repricing'... fundamentals kicking in, first slowly, then maybe all at once...

oh, and I think the article on 8btc is just a translation of this one: http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/09/19/upcoming-monero-hard-fork-lays-foundation-complete-anonymity/

280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wonder how much XMR is actually used on the DNM on: September 19, 2016, 08:21:29 PM
They aren't anonymous transactions, they are non existent.

please, deliver some actual proof, the burden is on you, now you're only making a fool of yourself...
