Really? lower 50% now own more land/resources than ever before? Cause this is a bitcoin forum and surely you wouldn't try to deceive by measuring "wealth" of lower 50% in absolute 2021 US dollars now would you?

Well, then why have brackets for everything else and leave 20% cap gain static for ultra wealthy, what makes it such a perfectly balanced number? Why was it fine at 35% in the 70s but now only a dirty commie would suggest bumping it to 21%? Following your logic on how filthy rich are more efficient than poor, then it'll be logical to raise taxes on poor and middle class (there's 0 chance they'll get us to Mars) and lower it for ultra rich? Then just hope really really hard that out of hundreds of billionaires that spend their money on hookers and blow and writing their names to be seen from space (as their rightfully should, it's their damn money Angry, new idea for Bob?) the next one hopefully turns out like Musk and decides to find cure for cancer?

This is just the US but the whole world is on a similar trajectory as long as we don't ruin it by some shortsighted socialist policies.

Because investment money is what allows businesses to be created, expanded, and to create jobs. Jobs aren't magical things that appear on their own. More taxes on investment money means less investment. You're not going to fix any of the wealth gap by increasing taxes anyway. They will not pay the taxes. They will just reduce investment or move to a more tax friendly country. Even when the rates were high in the past, they did not collect more taxes as a percentage of income. The wealthy will just change their behavior to avoid the taxes. It's game theory.

If you want to change the wealth gap for real and not as part of a socialist agenda, stop shopping at Amazon and using products or services from huge companies. We can go back to mom and pop shops and the wealth will be more evenly distributed.

Again, taxation will never change "wealth inequality" short of full on socialism/communism where the companies are taken away from the owners. The US tax system is already one of the most progressive in the world so stop complaining and enjoy what your ancestors built for you.

There are a surprising number of progressives / socialists here on what is a primarily a speculation forum. Its possibly what makes it a lively place for discussion.

There is one good example to compare both systems.

In 1953 Korea was divided.

Two countries starting off at same level after the utter destruction from war.

Today DPRK has GDP PPP of $1.700 whilst ROK has GDP PPP $47.000

So in the North you'd pay 30 years salary for 1BTC
In the South just 1 years salary for 1BTC.

Right, right, i see, so in the '70 where wealth was more evenly distributed, kids with a college degree were pretty much guaranteed a good paying job, 10yrs since NASA got us to the moon, and overall there was less civil unrest, in reality it was a North Korea because cap gain tax was at 35%? And anyone suggesting we go back to that is a dirty red commie, because ultra wealthy top 0.3% need more of our support just in case another one decides to cure cancer or something like that?

I thought you had put Rolling on ignore!

As you are so easily triggered, I suggest you really do put Rolling, Arriemoller and me on ignore.

Save yourself some grief.

Then you can get on with discussing the topic of Bitcoin.

Talking of which look ooo up 6.5k to $53581 overnight while I had a decent night's sound Hodl sleep.

Mrs Farmer Bill got over excited at 47k and bought $2k worth at $48k.

I am all in on both BTC and the farm, seed, fertilizer, fuel, labor all paid for. Nothing spare for more BTC.

Final input is patience.

The problem is that they don't allow their kids to cheat. That's child abuse.

Not allowing kids to eat meat = child abuse

Slaughtering animals = humane treatment, totally not animal abuse, see that only applies to dogs and cats

It is child abuse if you force a poor vegan diet on them which causes them to have retarded neurological development.

Your children could be taken into care if you cause malnutrition.

As you threw a PubMed.gov link at me which you believe here is one for you.

No more of this there are other forums you can go to discuss fad diets

The process of making milk into yogurt also prevents them getting ill as many Asian people are lactose intolerant, losing their ability to make lactase after weaning.

Not true, even in India lactose intolerance affects more than 60% of the population, and most of asia its at 80%+

Possible you misunderstood that line, maybe lost in google translator.

The process of fermenting milk into yogurt means that lactose intolerant people can then consume the milk.
Yes Asian people are lactose intolerant, the whole point of that line.

There's quite literally not enough land in this world for everyone to eat free range meat, maybe "unsustainable" is the wrong word to describe it, I'm not sure. English isnt my first language.

Either way, im still pretty sure its not ecologically sound at all https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24216416/

This study says that the greenhouse gas emissions were 30% higher for grassfeed beef than other kinds.
The organic stuff (shit) that they return to the soil locks up more carbon than than the effects of the methane.

Not true, its stated in the source I linked. 37% higher .than regular beef farming, and then a 15-24% carbon reduction is realized through carbon sequestering (or as you put it, shit). So a grand total of 22% higher to 13% higher than other methods of beef farming.

So you are just a one source kind of guy or girl. Plenty of material out there to wade through with differing conclusions.

Stop worrying about all the bull you read in MSM and get out and enjoy your young life.

Experience everything you can, your time here is short.

By the time you die the temperature may or not be 0.5 C higher.

But Bitcoin will be definitely will be higher.

Protip:  Range-grazed meat tastes better.  All of the freedom and happiness that the meat enjoyed whilst alive makes it juicier and more delicious.

the most unsustainable type of meat

Yet another person who has no idea of how their food is produced.

30 month grass fed beef especially on hills where crops cannot be grown is totally sustainable.
The beef is of exceptional quality and fetches a good premium.
It is ecologically sound farming, the shit from the cattle helps fertilizes the ground and sustains insect life and beetles which are in turn food for birds and bats.
It is kind too, the calves often run and suckle with their mothers for 9 months, all the cattle have a happy life grazing outdoors in summer.

Go work on a farm for a year, burning 5000 calories a day and see how you survive on a vegan diet.

Meanwhile stack those Satoshis and you'll have a bright future ahead.

Due to grass fed beef taking 30 months to maturity instead of 18 months on an intensive system.

The emissions are from methane - cattle belch a lot - they are basically living fermentation vessels.

The organic stuff (shit) that they return to the soil locks up more carbon than than the effects of the methane.

What else you going to do with hills with thin often acid soil where you will not grow carrots or lentils.

Those beautiful grazed landscapes you see from the highway are not there by chance.

PS we are still coming out of the last Ice Age, and Earth would be warming up, albeit at a slower pace, with or without human activity. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions we can definitely slow this process but not stop it.
Global cooling would be more catastrophic, check out how far the ice sheets extended not that long ago.

Another city boy who knows sweet FA about producing beef.

Not all of us city boys are clueless about our food.

The Angus steer on the right is Murray, being held by the lad who lovingly raised him like a pet, knowing full well that he was destined for slaughter. He was reserve grand champion at the prestigious Royal Winter Fair a few years back.

The guy with the glasses, second from right, is my local neighborhood butcher in downtown Toronto. He sources his meat from small, humane producers like the happy family in the rest of the picture. Happy meat is good meat. Of course it's free of artificial hormones and unnecessary antibiotics.

Murray was raised on forage and silage and finished with barley. Needless to say he was harvested humanely, locally.

I was lucky to get a couple of steaks from the front part of his rib section (with large spinalis dorsi muscles), plus a couple of flat irons (infraspinatus muscles). While we were enjoying him we had his picture up on the 55" display and toasted him, thanked him, and complimented him on his fine flavor and texture. He was delicious.
____

Don't hate on vegans. They're just victims of a neurosis-based eating disorder.

No disrespect to anybody living in a city or especially to you.
I know by your posts you appreciate fine food and can see in your great photo a man who lives well.
Just that lots of folk are very lacking in knowledge about where their food comes from.
Lucky you getting a taste of that fine ethically raised steer.

No hate for vegans just pity for them and more so their children who unless their diet is very well formulated will suffer from nutritional deficiencies affecting their neurological development.

A very long time ago I spent a year in Kerala India, as the majority of the population being Hindu do not eat meat nor did I. But the diet of fruit coconut brown rice and vegetables lentils beans with home made yogurt which provides long chain protein is sound keeping them healthy. The process of making milk into yogurt also prevents them getting ill as many Asian people are lactose intolerant, losing their ability to make lactase after weaning.
The first steak I eat after this period was fantastic but gave me diarrhea, sudden change in diet.

I owe a debt to you in encouragement to continue accumulating bitcoin by your constant posts with reference to " just been down to the ATM, purchased more Bitcoin"

Happy days all round.

I know a lot of you in here probably got a bunch of newfound wealth in recent months, even though 1BTC = 1BTC no matter what, but damn.. Never thought I'd see so many people oppose an increased tax to people who declare over $1m CAP GAINS a year. Happy friday WO.

Increasing taxes never benefits anyone,
To make a country prosperous, low tax, low spend is the formula.

Singapore one of the richest countries in the world was once one of the poorest.
It was helped to its current status by low taxation.
Top personal tax rate 22%
Corporation Tax 17%
Capital gains Tax 0%
Death Tax 0%
No double taxation on interest and dividends.

Biden and his well meaning but deluded socialist and Marxist backers will leave their tenure in 4 years time with the country in much worse shape.

Time to finish breakfast and off to work.

#16: CENSORSHIP...AND THE COMPLETE ABSENCE OF SCIENTIFIC DEBATE

Nothing  personal to all of you guys hoping vaccination will solve all problems but... if anyone of you @experts@ could trash this piece of work would be highly appreciated .

I was almost ready to get this vaccine but somebody sent me this link yesterday afternoon.

https://www.deconstructingconventional.com/post/18-reason-i-won-t-be-getting-a-covid-vaccine

Do your own research and decide either way.

This article is an advertisement to encourage you to subscribe to the website's dubious health program through promoting fear and ignorance.
While the writer has already been vaccinated.
A first grade kid could trash all 18 lame excuses.

If there was an article '18 reasons to ditch Bitcoin' would you sell?
Likely you would research who was behind the article and their motive.
(Like Oh yeah Craig Wright sponsored the article to dis Bitcoin and promote his shitcoin or Big Corporation X wants an in to Bitcoin and needs to get your coins at a cheaper price etc.)

My healthy 32 year old daughter non smoker, organic diet, active outdoor pursuits, caught Covid and spent 8 days in hospital seriously ill. 2 months on she still has some mild symptoms noticeably poor sense of smell and taste plus minor fatigue.

Her ordeal made it an easy decision for me to get vaccinated.

Yeah.  We live in the age of a lack of nuanced views.  You are either a racist or an ally. Covid is either a biblical plague or a world government conspiracy.  One of positions I dislike the most is the whole "Trust the Science" bullshit.  Another black and white nonsense, and one of the least scientific things you can say.  Science is a trust-minimized discipline.  At least it is supposed to be.

I am sure covid is being used by TPTB to push agendas.  And it *might* have even been a planned psyop from the beginning.  And maybe it's also a biblical plague, lol.

I had a close friend who got it.  Spent weeks in the hospital over 4 admissions.  Not only did it nearly kill him, seriously damage his lungs, but it precipitated a heart attack.

It is a serious public health challenge.  It has overloaded the healthcare systems in areas that have suffered strong surges.  And many of the governments of the world (and in my country states) have made choices on how to deal with it that range from draconian to flippant.  But I personally think we have been tilted WAY to the draconian side.

The vaccine *is* new tech, and rolled out without nearly as much testing as it would normally get.  It *could* have downstream effects we have not anticipated.  I also think mRNA treatments might be the basis for cures of many other diseases we have been trying to eliminate for decades.  Also, not everyone needs it.

Anyway...  God bless your daughter... sorry she had to go through it.  Not fun, I know.  And sobering to deal with effects so long after it's over.

In fairness to the middle-of-the-road types, there were quite a few saying "It's just a flu bro!".

Again thanks for your kind words for my daughter.

The vaccine is very new and rushed tech, released without the usual thorough testing over time. The world simply does not have 10 years to wait.

In 1796 Jenner tested out his new technology on his gardeners young son. Inoculating him with cow pox which gave him fever. Later he tried to infect the boy with smallpox, but the boy was immune to it.
Of course Jenner was ridiculed by the then MSM with cartoons of vaccinated people sprouting cows legs and so on.
Smallpox was responsible for one in ten deaths in 1796 and this was huge break through.
Now smallpox is totally eradicated, due to the world vaccination program and is now old tech.
The frightening thing is that smallpox is retained in biological weapons institutes and that none of our future generations will have any natural immunity to this disease.

How did you come to the conclusion that the writer has been vaccinated?  He has not been vaccinated against covid.  If you read the article again, you'll find that the author has been infected with covid and he posts a link to an article that says "Scientists warn vaccinating people who already COVID could potentially cause harm, or even death."

I'm glad your daughter has recovered, perhaps you should follow that link with an open mind; there is a chance her body could overreact to the vaccine since she's already been infected.

"When a vaccine reactivates an immune response in a recently infected person, the tissues harboring the persisting viral antigen are targeted, inflamed and damaged by the immune response."

edit: I had severe cat allergies and opted for immunotherapy (weekly injections of cat proteins for several months to retrain my immune system).  While undergoing the therapy, if I was around a person who owned a cat, the injection site was the first place I would feel a reaction.  That area would become swollen, sore and itchy first.

Thanks for your kind words re my daughter and her recovery from Covid19. As she likely has full natural immunity against this particular strain of Covid she says she will not take up the offer of a vaccine if offered one.

I purposely omitted 'probably' from 'While the writer has already been vaccinated' because the guy is a charlatan who would say anything in order to get you sign up and pay. Including prey on peoples genuine concerns and fears about vaccination. Just because he says he's had Covid does not mean it is true - he is selling something.

Of course there are risks, Israel reports 1-3 deaths per million doses from reaction to the Pfizer vaccine. About the same risk as driving 250 miles. But no deaths from Covid amongst the fully vaccinated. Most get a side effect of varying severity, I got a sore arm for a day and a mild headache. I've been in much worse shape after a good night out.

Thanks for sharing the interesting anecdote about your immune therapy treatment. Being in the presence of cats makes my eyes itch, I try to avoid them.

I don't like chartbuddy, I just find it irritating.

But make a poll and we will see, if it comes out positive, then make another one after a month and see if people still like it.
I think a lot of new people in here have no idea what it is and how annoying it was.

What a fucking grinch! Wink

Stat your own new Wall Observer then.

]That is the damn WALL WE OBSERVE.

What's wrong with you? Wink  I imagine you also do not like pizza? Or filet Mignon?  A fine ass woman reaching to get something she dropped?  And the weekend?

What a grump!   Cheesy

It's spelled "start".

Oyh, and by the way, there are no significant walls to observe anymore, that's why this thread evolved into the very interesting meeting place for the bitcoin intelligentsia that is today. let's keep it that way Wink

I remember observing the 30K wall and thinking the chart was malfunctioning, there is nothing on that scale now, a 150 ant sell wall is enough to force the weak to dribble coins below that price into the wall owner's buy orders.

There sure are some well thought out ideas and posts to be read here and some entertaining posts to pass periods of market inaction. A few recent periods nearly warranted a tumbleweed .gif or two.

The fact you are here writing this, is due to you likely having received the following vaccines in childhood.
Diptheria
Hepatitus B
Haemophilus influenzae type b
Polio
Tetanus
Whooping cough
Meningitus B
Pneumonia
Roravirus
Meningitis
Mumps
Measles

I was never vaccinated as a child. It wasn't until I was made to take them in my 30s to go to Iraq that I got my first vaccine.

I wouldn't really call the COVID jab a vaccine. Moderna wasn't calling it a vaccine when they developed it. They considered it gene therapy. But then they found out they can get out of liability if it's called a vaccine so...*poof*...it's a vaccine.

They just started testing this mRNA approach on humans in 2017 for flu.

While I think the mRNA therapy may be something that can help with future illnesses, I remember my mom telling me growing up "don't try any new medicine unless it's been out on the market for at least 10 years". Sound advice. Though the reality is that I can count on one hand the number of times I've ever taken any medicine.

You can all be the guinnea pigs for this new medical procedure but I'm fine focusing on a natural healthy body that can take on anything. I already had the COVID, it lasted about 2 days. The second day when I realised what it was I took Vitamin D and Zinc in the morning with 1g of Vitamin C every hour. It knocked it right out.

mRNA

As a veteran sir you have my greatest respect. I can also appreciate that having been a guinea pig once already for multiple vaccines including anthrax and botulism plus PB nerve agent pills and exposure to organophosphate pesticides, you do not want to repeat the experience.

The fact you have had Covid means you are already immune and not in need of a vaccine.

As the majority of children you grew up with, were probably vaccinated against childhood illnesses, this would have protected you who were not.

There was not 10 years available to test the new mRNA vaccine, however 100s millions have taken the risk with a new technology and been vaccinated, with few side effects other than not one single vaccinated person has died from Covid.

Where would any of us on this forum be without taking some risk with the then new  technology Bitcoin, with only one evident side effect, a huge increase in wealth. Bitcoin is no longer a risk, but the safest deposit account there is.

The (bastards) are still fighting to prevent a new ATH which would invalidate painting their false narrative of a double top (or even triple top according to proudhon) and a subsequent crash. Nope the new ATH is approaching with the short road to 70k and longer one to 89k ahead.

278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2021, 12:46:48 PM
people can do what they want but im with the science on this one. ive got comorbidities so ill let the deniers take the chance of long term organ system damage from catching covid.
I see it as a double-edged sword, but one of them is a choice while the other is just a possibility.

I am still waiting until the vaccine is studied more. I think it's fair to say that some of us are here, on BTCTalk, specifically because they don't like having to trust. I'm one of those guys.

At this point, I have a few friends who've received either their first dose or both. While some of them have had a few days of fever and other mild side effects, one thing I know for sure is that they all did need at least a few days free from their work due to how bad the side effects were. I have a few of them who've had quite bad ones though - they were never against the virus/vaccine, yet they said very loud and clear that "they thought they wouldn't be able to go through the side effects and it was just the first dose, so I shouldn't be surprised if they won't be able to go through the second anymore".

On the other hand, one of them was infected with the virus after taking the shot.

Something I don't know is what the longer term side effects are. Right now, we're comparing the chances of having bad adverse effects + the possibility of still being infected with the virus vs not taking the vaccine, which still has the possibility of being infected. But the difference is that the vaccine is a choice, and you're choosing to possibly have adverse effects through a substance that possibly protects you from the virus. Makes sense?

As you said, the virus is mutant. It means that even if I take it and everyone else in .. say Europe does, there will still be someone in India who might get another variant and it's going to still spread across the globe. The fear that, once vaxxed, you are going to receive a new variant from someone non-vaxxed does not make much sense in my opinion specifically due to the fact that this is quite uncontrollable and invisible.

At this point, the only thing I really wish is that the vaccine does not become mandatory because while you fear the long-term virus effects, I fear the long-term effects the vaccine plus the virus might have on my body. I don't trust those corps making vaccines, at least some of them. Especially J&J, which is known for their quite ugly lawsuit.

Right now, it's a complicated scenario where everything is pretty uncertain. We don't know what kind of other variants of the virus will appear, we don't know what the long-term effects are post-infection but we don't know those of the vaccine either.. it's all just an uncertainty and I think the worst thing I can do right now is take rushed choices..

Your choice!

The fact you are here writing this, is due to you likely having received the following vaccines in childhood.
Diptheria
Hepatitus B
Haemophilus influenzae type b
Polio
Tetanus
Whooping cough
Meningitus B
Pneumonia
Roravirus
Meningitis
Mumps
Measles

Before vaccines 1 in 4 children died before their 5th birthday and only 1 in 2 children made it to puberty. I'm pretty old and as a child one un vaccinated kid in my class had a crippled leg from polio and another had her eyesight wrecked from measles.

If I don't vaccinate lambs on the farm, without fail they will start dying at around 8 weeks old, its always the biggest strongest lambs that go first. No idea why this is.

Most people take some big risks in during their life but vaccination is not one of them.

Go on get protected against Covid-19 it doesn't even hurt a little bit in case your are scared of needles.

In other news 60k hoo fucking ray, feels like I'm walking on air.
