26042  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ►"We will Make America great again!"◄ ►Donald Trump is the new president of USA◄ on: November 09, 2016, 01:21:54 PM
Actually, I think America waiting for big changes
Obama has been promising "Change" for 8 years. It might actually happen with Trump.
But, like anybody from "the elite", he has no idea how the rest of the population lives. And if he can't see the problems of the common man, how can he make it better?

The same goes for Clinton too BTW.
26043  Other / Meta / Re: [Interest Check] - User Rank 'Banned' on: November 09, 2016, 10:50:29 AM
I like it (but you already know that). It seems like a normal forum feature to know which user will never talk back again.

And obviously it helps the scam/alt-fighters to know which "problems" have been tackled already.

Theymos has some concerns for both temporary and permanent bans (although less for the latter) which I do not necessarily need to specify here.
I don't need to know which user has a temporary ban. Even if I'm talking to that person, he'll be back again later. And if someone is hunting for alts/scammers, there's also no reason to stop the search if the user will be back the next week.

Then it's largely pointless. Not sure how the couple of people who are trying to find account farmers or spammers will benefit greatly from it. If an account is perma banned what does it matter to them?
It saves them time. They don't have too look into an account that has been banned already.

Bumping a thread within 24 hours is against forum rules. Doing it within 1 hour to get faster service for a free giveaway is not nice.

Could you make me an addy

Prefix: Sweeet
1Sweeet takes too long for a giveaway, I can only make it case insensitive for free, or case insensitive at a price (7.6 mBTC). If you choose the latter, I'll need at least a few days to make it.
I got you a case insensitive addy now. By coincidence it does look quite nice with W instead of w and the rest lower case. Let me know if you want a case sensitive addy.

In a few minutes I can take a picture of my screen, showing that I own 21,000,001 Bitcoins.
The only way to proof you have access to a certain number of Bitcoins, is by signing a message.

Your screenshot shows Coinbase. You can sell Bitcoins there directly, no need to do it "with a discount" on a forum.

in situation that trading accounts is allowed, and this users don't make any bad activity, tagging all of them can be hurtful for them.
Getting tagged for someone else's behaviour is a risk you take when you buy an account.

1bitcoi would take too long for this giveaway, but case insensitive is possible. I can probably get you 1Bitcoi case sensitive.

But:

Private key 9E4A94450EE8496B1421F44460FFE5DEAD2D1EDD318B6E98E0098E73D5FDAB58
DO NOT DO THIS! EVER!
You can't get a secure address if you publish the private key.

If you provate a new public key I can make your addy. Make sure you understand what you're doing first though, otherwise it can be tricky/insecure importing private keys.

26055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla's building a solar roof , It can be a good days for bitcoin miners? on: November 06, 2016, 11:02:03 AM
The link description says it already: Stunning new solar roof tiles. The bold word is what matters: the looks.
The reason solar panels are usually panels, is because the cells have to be connected together. That's much easier to do in a factory (by robots), instead of installing and connecting loose tiles on location.

That makes me think Tesla is mainly using it's name/hype to sell this. There are many "environmentally friendly" products already that are solely sold based on image/ideals, and not on technical facts. If you want to use PV for any money making purpose, start by looking at the price per kWh. Tesla doesn't even provide prices yet.

Quote
especially if you do live into a place or certain country in which the temperature is quite higher.
I don't think there is a relation between outside temperature and cost of electricity. There is a relation between temperature and solar cell efficiency though: the warmer the cells, the lower the efficiency.
26056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Panic sellers got flushed fast on: November 05, 2016, 09:43:51 PM
So what if they sold at $690 instead of $710? That's only 2.9% difference.
If they feel good about it: good for them!

I'm neither buying nor selling at the moment. I'm just very curious to see what the US elections will do to Bitcoin. Both candidates seem equally bad, I've never seen an election where both candidates divide people that much. That makes me think Bitcoin will go up no matter who wins. But then again, you never know. For now I'm holding my bitcoin and my euro.
26057  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: November 05, 2016, 08:21:01 PM
Can I have a list of Vanitygen commands?
This gives the available commands:
./vanitygen -h
Code:
./vanitygen -h
Vanitygen 0.22 (OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014)
Usage: ./vanitygen [-vqnrik1NT] [-t <threads>] [-f <filename>|-] [<pattern>...]
Generates a bitcoin receiving address matching <pattern>, and outputs the
address and associated private key.  The private key may be stored in a safe
location or imported into a bitcoin client to spend any balance received on
the address.
By default, <pattern> is interpreted as an exact prefix.

Options:
-v            Verbose output
-q            Quiet output
-n            Simulate
-r            Use regular expression match instead of prefix
(Feasibility of expression is not checked)
-i            Case-insensitive prefix search
-k            Keep pattern and continue search after finding a match
-1            Stop after first match
-N            Generate namecoin address
-T            Generate bitcoin testnet address
-X <version>  Generate address with the given version
-F <format>   Generate address with the given format (pubkey or script)
-P <pubkey>   Specify base public key for piecewise key generation
-e            Encrypt private keys, prompt for password
-E <password> Encrypt private keys with <password> (UNSAFE)
-t <threads>  Set number of worker threads (Default: number of CPUs)
-f <file>     File containing list of patterns, one per line
(Use "-" as the file name for stdin)
-o <file>     Write pattern matches to <file>
-s <file>     Seed random number generator from <file>

Quote
The -i command means that it will run a case insensitive search. So if yo u want it to generate a 1JTK wallet with the "-i" command, it might then generate 1JtK instead. It basically just speeds up the generation time, but you're giving up case sensitivity.
You could add -k to -i, so it keeps searching. That way you can be lucky to find the right case-sensitive prefix, and if you're not that lucky, at least you have a case insensitive prefix. Or more likely: a lot of them.

Does anyone know how to search for Suffixes instead of Prefixes, using OCLvanitygen?
You can't.
26058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Consortium in Japan on: November 04, 2016, 11:44:08 AM
I was thinking here how they can introduce fiat currency in blockchain, if one day someone can do that will be great however I doubt it will happen.
That would be very easy to do. All you need is a Trusted Party. It creates a blockchain for Dollarcoins, and has 1 Trillion Dollarcoins in stock. They're not in circulation, until someone buys them. So they start selling them! 1 USD for 1 Dollarcoin, they will always have exactly that value. You can sell them for USD at any moment, or use them to pay for goods.
No need for high hash rates, no need to consume a lot of energy. Anybody could copy the blockchain and verify it, but only the Trusted Party earns a mining fee (say 1 cent per transaction). There is no block reward.
The Trusted Party could be a bank or a government, as far as people still trust them. This would be very practical for online shopping, it has endless applications for very cheap online transactions, but you can't use it to speculate. And I think Bitcoin (and any altcoin) mainly gained momentum because people hope to get rich from it.
I'd also love to see the same from a Trusted Party for buying stocks. It could be anonymous, untracable who owns what, and hidden away from taxes. For exactly these reasons governments would probably not allow this.

26060  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: RAM drive or SSD to hold blockchain. on: November 03, 2016, 08:17:52 AM
I have tried it, but with a pruned chain. I can confirm it was faster to download the full blockchain compared to doing the same thing (also pruned) on my SSD. Test results: at the start, it was limited by my Wifi speed (2-3 MB/s), later on it was limited by my CPU (i3).

Obviously I don't have enough ram to do this without pruning, so I can't test a rescan. My HDD takes about 40 minutes to do a full rescan (for instance when I import a private key).
If you're now using a slow HDD, I'd say switching to a SSD is enough for a big improvement. If it reads 500 MB/s, it can read the entire blockchain in 3 minutes.

Personally I only use ram-drives for temporary files. I don't want to have to backup data, although you could argue you can always download it again.
