A middle man to take the fall for your illegal transactions? No thanks! Even better: don't do illegal stuff.
26103  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: October 18, 2016, 06:36:51 AM
In Windows, the CMD window closes immediately after finding the hash, so I lost the work of around 20 days.
Can anyone tell me how to let the window stick open when the search is over please?
Did you open it manually by starting cmd.exe, or by clicking a link? Test it by opening cmd.exe manually, then search for a quick prefix.

I made a .bat file that launches the .exe with all parameters.
I think that's where it fails. If you start the .bat file manually, it should be okay.

I'm not sure about the versions, but Command Prompt Here may help you.

26105  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: List of emails of Xapo bots to ban on: October 17, 2016, 06:15:20 PM
Actually I use an e-mail with a dot... And well, if you ban dots, they will come with underlines or numbers like asdf1@, asd1f, as1df, a1sdf, 1asdf... It's a both side evolution, it's hard to prevent bots...
I didn't say ban dots, I said remove the dot. So My.Name@gmail becomes the same in the database as MyName@gmail, and if MyNa.me@gmail registers, you'll know it exists already.
asdf1@gmail etc. is possible indeed, but a lot more work for the farmer, en Gmail itself has spam-protection for it. After a few accounts it will start asking for phone verification, slowing the farmer down further.

26107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Petition for sites to accept Bitcoin? on: October 17, 2016, 09:02:40 AM
I just made my first purchase directly with Bitcoin last week. It didn't went as smoothly as with card, but I think that both parts will learn and improve the system. It's a good start however and it's the way to go.
For me, at thuisbezorgd.nl, using bitcoin was much smoother than using a creditcard. The only thing that slowed it down was entering my PIN-code on my phone app.
The website showed the amount, and a QR-code. A quick scan with my phone, and it instantly said "paid" on the PC-screen.

    PIN-code: 6 digits.
    Creditcard: Name + 16 + 3 + mm/yy = 30-40 digits.

    Howdy Cheesy

Unfortunately, it will be another week before madcoin can fix his Lottery bot. Until then, you'll all welcome to keep this giveaway alive. Once Lottery is back, I'll donate a record number of Free Tickets (at the normal rate per request).
26109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Petition for sites to accept Bitcoin? on: October 17, 2016, 08:27:27 AM
a huge petition and invite everyone you know to sign it
Most people sign any petition without knowing what it's about. Check the "ban water petition" videos on Youtube (they are fun to watch) to see how easily people sign petitions.
And for that reason, I think petitions do not prove people actually care about it.
If I get 100 people to sign an "accept Bitcoin"-petition, that doesn't mean they'll actually want to use it to buy stuff.

In my opinion the best way for sites to accept Bitcoin is if their payment processor accepts it. This way, the webshop doesn't even have to know what payment method the buyer uses.
www.multisafepay.com for example offers 19 different payment methods, but Bitcoin is not one of them.

In the Netherlands the biggest site I know that accepts it, is thuisbezorgd.nl. They offer 8 different payment methods, including Bitcoin. This is however processed by bitpay.com, not by a payment processor that handles all different payments.

    vending machines
Then suddenly the vending machines needs an internet connection.

Sadly bitcoiners are gamblers, traders and darknet users to most of these sites and they do not see much upside in adding a feature that could just create more work for them in the end.
I think you're right here. But this doesn't mean it can't change. The internet started out mainly because of porn. VHS had the same start. Both have outgrown that industry. Bitcoin can do the same.

I think there's one thing that can help: use Bitcoin at any chance you get! If it's an option between 8 other options, choose Bitcoin.
26110  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: List of emails of Xapo bots to ban on: October 17, 2016, 07:46:42 AM
Instead of making a list of all combinations, why don't you remove the DOT from gmail addresses? Just remove it the moment someone enters it.
There's not really a point of listing them, as they all belong to the same account. The owner can make endless combinations.

    Quote
wonderful, this is just the same email spelling only difference by punctuation mark, this ought to have been stopped by gmail email services it self.
It's a feature, not a bug! My.Name@gmail is the same as MyName@gmail, you can add as many dots as you want, gmail ignores them.
Just like MyName+thisisanalttoearnextra@gmail goes into the same mailbox. To fight these spam-accounts, ignore the part after the PLUS, and ignore all dots.

I'm not sure what other email services have this functionality too.
26111  Economy / Gambling / Re: HashBet.io - Bet the last character of block hash, payout from 1.5x to 15x on: October 16, 2016, 10:56:36 AM
This gives a house edge is 1/16th, or 6.25%. That is among the highest in the industry, if not the highest of all.

What I miss on your site, is a history of bets. Also, it loads very slow.

And the FAQ doesn't inspire confidence:
    Quote
    4. Is this site a scam?
If we doing something like refusing to pay out winners, then everyone would have heard about it already. By the way, all the data are open. You can verify on block chain any time.
Nobody has heard from this site before, it just opened. That makes this claim useless.

    Quote
    5. Odds?
From 1:1.5 to 1:15, please refer to related images.
This is wrong too! Odds are 10 out of 16 or 1 out of 16. A casino should not fail on the basic math.

Rollin Chat is working again (for a while now), but madcoin is still too busy to fix the Lottery Bot.
All requests will be honored, no worries there, it just takes some more time.

    No tickets again today Sad
DDOS-attacks are disrupting normal service. Rollin.io is online again, but the Chatter Box isn't working yet. This means I can't donate Tickets.
All Ticket-requests are moved to the next Draw, which should be the day Chatter Box works again.
I'll update here when Tickets are donated. Until then, you're all welcome to request Tickets every day.
    26115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1mb is too big on: October 11, 2016, 09:44:35 AM
It shouldn't stop if it isn't doing anything. Relying on HDD noise is a bad way of testing whether it's actually doing something. If the CPU load is low, then the bottleneck is the IOPS of the HDD.
I can now confirm the HDD was the limitation. I've upgraded from 4 to 12 GB ram, which made it possible to download a pruned blockchain (2.4 GB total with -prune=550) to a ram drive.
The result: Bitcoin Core used all CPU it could get continuously for processing blocks. It downloaded at maximum speed once in a while, then stopped downloading for a while, all the time still processing the blocks.
In total it downloaded approximately 86 GB, and it took 1 full day on an i3 (while also doing normal tasks). A huge speed improvement.

I also noticed  Bitcoin Core 0.13.0 is more responsive than the previous version. While synchronizing I can now click Send > Inputs and get the popup instantly. This used to take up to several minutes.

All this combined, I'm ready for bigger blocks Smiley

As far as I know, FLT is the only user who has tickets. This would mean FLT wins, but without working chat, Lottery Bot can't pay out the prize either.
All Ticket-requests are moved to the next Draw, which should be Tuesday 23:00h Amsterdam time.

Btw only now I realized that "under new management" might mean the site was bought by other people. Now I'm wondering if that's true.
When I won some of the Fastdice giveaways a few months back, it should have been paid within 24 hours. After a lot more time I created a "preliminary" scam accusation, and after about 2 weeks in total I got paid.
Since then, it seems to me their Admin has lost interest in the site.
