26161  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Create Bitcoin Address using custom private key using Vanitygen on: September 27, 2016, 06:40:32 PM
[quote author=cr1776 link=topic=1623960.msg16383348#msg16383348 date=1475001043
I think that is closer to what he wants, but what he is really talking about is something like this:
5supersecretprivatekeyEeiWPBaZM4o6frexXvmko6
[/quote]
Creating a valid private key isn't that hard. I'd have to look up how it works with the checksum, but it can be done.
What you could do, is edit the source from vanitygen in such a way that it only uses addresses that start with 5LoyceWasHere instead of random data. The second part of the key can be random and changed while searching for an address that starts with 1Loyce, and the last part of the key can be the checksum.

From http://directory.io/:
+ 5HpHagT65TZzG1PH3CSu63k8DbpvD8s5ip4nEB3kEsreB4AD8Yi
+ 5HpHagT65TZzG1PH3CSu63k8DbpvD8s5ip4nEB3kEsreBF8or94
+ 5HpHagT65TZzG1PH3CSu63k8DbpvD8s5ip4nEB3kEsreBKdE2NK

5 super secret private key space to randomize checksum

But as steven0021 said: it's insecure. And you can't even show off how cool the private key is, because that would make it even less secure. So it's useless.
26162  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: September 27, 2016, 06:26:55 PM
It works, but although the computer is responsive, the Resource Monitor shows that all the 4 CPU are working. Well, I guess I won't be playing videogames for the next 8 days or so  Grin
That's why I tested with 1 thread. It's easier to see that way, as other applications eat CPU too.
Just in case: you can always turn it off when you want to use your PC, and turn it back on when you don't need the speed somewhere else. It just continues checking random addresses, so no work gets lost.

Will have to check later what -t does, but put the address at end...

Code:
vanitygen64.exe -t 3 1PURCAZ

Mhhh I tried that too... I'll try again.
This works fine here:
./vanitygen -t 1 1test

Isn't lowering the priority a better idea than limiting the number of threads? On Linux I just put "nice" in front of the command (although it doesn't help much with oclvanitygen).

I can do this if you want.

...I will send the Leupay to FundsMoney and after confirmation
How is this checked? What if the sending party says it's sent and the receiving party denies it. How can the escrow take a decision in this scenario?
26168  Economy / Gambling / Re: mBit Casino - Signup for The Premier Bitcoin Gaming Experience on: September 26, 2016, 03:31:17 PM
Nice win, I belive you got it from the sign up bonus. As I remember they are offering 25 free spins for every new player who just signed up. Not really sure if the bonus is still there till this time. By the way, good luck on your try to complete the rollover requirement.
All gone after wagering 2%.
It's confusing:
0.5 "coin" is 5 mBTC. Balance is in mBTC, while "my account" is in BTC. That's three different units.
26169  Economy / Gambling / Re: mBit Casino - Signup for The Premier Bitcoin Gaming Experience on: September 26, 2016, 02:59:54 PM
Got this from freespins. I don't even remember where I found the promo. Now I have to wager this 40x. Is this normal? It took forever, turning on all the blinking things they could find Cheesy

Lol it's in mbtc not btc Tongue Now things make more sense Smiley
26170  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How to create a secure Bitcoin Vanity Paper Wallet on Ubunutu live USB & Windows on: September 26, 2016, 09:01:47 AM
I store 99% of my bitcoins on paper wallets because I'm paranoid ever since I lost 0.05BTC from Blockchain.info when I just started out with bitcoins.
Aren't you paranoid someone will take your paper wallets?

I was looking for a method to import a vanity address into a paper wallet printed by bitaddress.org (but I didn't find what I was looking for).
I found what I wanted (with some effort):
1. Use Chrome browser to go to https://www.bitaddress.org/ (of course it's recommended to do this offline from a LIVE CD)
2. Click Paper Wallet
3. Right-click on the private key, select Inspect
4. Replace it with the private key for your vanity address
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the bitcoin address
6. Print to PDF
7. Click Wallet details (still on bitaddress.org) and enter the private key for your vanity address
8. Edit the PDF, I used The GIMP, which is probably available on your LIVE CD. Open it in 600 dpi resolution.
9. Copy the QR-codes Bitcoin Address and Private Key WIF and paste them into the PDF
10. Print the PDF, cut it out, fold it, tape it, and don't lose it.
You now have the bitaddress.org paper wallet with your own private key, bitcoin address, and QR-codes.

Final result:

(needless to say: do not use this one!)

26173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error opening block database on: September 25, 2016, 11:20:49 AM
I might have started bitcoin-qt with "sudo bitcoin-qt" at least once since that problem appeared, which may have created the permission problem (LOCK file created by a higher level user than my normal user).
Maybe that even affects one of the directories bitcoin-qt uses.
You can easily check and correct that by changing back the permissions of all files to the user that should own them.
26174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error opening block database on: September 25, 2016, 11:02:03 AM
I don't think this is necessary. You'd still end up reindexing after deleting any of the file. Also it's safer to let bitcoin-qt do its thing than deleting/replacing files by your own.
It was meant to check if any if the files got corrupted. I'm more familiar with checking files myself than all the ins and outs of Bitcoin Core.
The list is too long to post as a message. If you post yours I can do the comparing for you.
26175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error opening block database on: September 25, 2016, 10:31:36 AM
If the files got corrupted, your hard drive may be on its end.

Let me help you check your blocks.
Do this in your blocks-directory: md5sum *.dat > checksums_for_Loyce.txt
This should be done in an hour. Post the contents here between code-tags. I'll check if any of my blocks is different. This may help you pinpoint the problem without redownloading everything.

Update: it turns out this doesn't work. All blocks on disk are different, starting from the first one.
26176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: September 25, 2016, 08:07:54 AM
Searching for palindromes will take a while. I did find Address: 1LLLLLgCCCCDSbimB83vZf3AbACYcFzo6o, although it's not what I was looking for.

I searched overnight for long prefixes with 5 characters after the 1, just enough to justify using oclvanitygen.

Address: 1LLLLL6CD9xadxzM577JUU9T6VvmKUJ8pw
Privkey: 5KAWeKw9pcoyS6vjtU92nckvvMMMMTfLzbGeVXorGRMcu27tmet
After checking some private keys, I realized it's stupid Tongue It would be possible to adjust vanitygen in such a way that it uses a certain private key prefix (say 5AAAAAAA) and search from there. And I'm not going to do that, it's less secure, and I can't adjust vanitygen by myself.

So I'll limit my palindrome-search to the address.
26177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wallet in bank? on: September 24, 2016, 06:27:25 PM
Two weeks ago a Dutch bank posted on their website that it was going to release it's own bitcoin wallet, running within the normal client banking environment.
They quickly took down the page, claiming it was an experimental idea from a few years earlier.

Personally, I don't want it. The whole point of bitcoin is being in control. I'd love to have more financial services without banks, stocks for example.
I've been thinking about "stockchain" for a while. Wouldn't it be great if a company sells stocks, but instead of buying them through banks/brokers, you buy them on a blockchain. Just keep the wallet or your private key long term, or you can sell them, give them away, pay with them, or even gamble with stocks directly.
A blockchain ETF with very low cost could have amazing possibilities. I should create a topic for this Smiley
26178  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: September 24, 2016, 11:07:49 AM
Code:
$ ./vanitygen 1test
Difficulty: (null)
Segmentation fault
Reinstalling the package fixed the segfault:
# apt-get remove libssl-dev libpcre3-dev
# apt-get remove git make gcc opencl-headers libssl-dev libpcre3-dev ocl-icd-dev ocl-icd-dbg
# apt-get install libssl-dev libpcre3-dev
# apt-get install git make gcc opencl-headers libssl-dev libpcre3-dev ocl-icd-dev ocl-icd-dbg

vanitygen works again.
But something changed for oclvanitygen. It used to "just work" with my Nvidia, without specifying it. Now it gives these options:
Code:
Available OpenCL platforms:
0: [NVIDIA Corporation] NVIDIA CUDA
  0: [NVIDIA Corporation] GeForce 840M

And when I select -D 0:0 it can't open it:
Code:
./oclvanitygen -D 0:0 1test
Difficulty: 264104224
clBuildProgram: CL_BUILD_PROGRAM_FAILURE
Build log:

Device: GeForce 840M
Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation (10de)
Driver: 352.63
Profile: FULL_PROFILE
Version: OpenCL 1.2 CUDA
Max compute units: 140733193388035
Max workgroup size: 1024
Global memory: 2147352576
Max allocation: 536838144
Could not open device '0:0', ignoring
Available OpenCL platforms:
0: [NVIDIA Corporation] NVIDIA CUDA
  0: [NVIDIA Corporation] GeForce 840M

I tried everything I tried in March again. I'm not sure what did the trick, but it works again Smiley
It "suddenly" worked again after I put my laptop back to using the Nvidia driver for its own graphics.
26179  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How to create a secure Bitcoin Vanity Paper Wallet on Ubunutu live USB & Windows on: September 23, 2016, 10:36:09 PM
I this something that can be don offline though? I was trying to do this as securely as possible.
You can do it offline, from a LIVE Linux CD that hopefully recognizes your dump printer that connects with a cable and doesn't save the pages in its memory.
26180  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: September 23, 2016, 01:21:28 PM
I broke it Sad
I compiled the code from Private Key Restorer. I used a different user account, so it won't interfere for sure. But before that, I did apt-get install libssl-dev.
It installed something, I didn't look at the details. Later I realized I must have had libssl-dev already, so it may have messed up some dependencies or updated something.
Now I get this:
Code:
$ ./vanitygen 1test
Difficulty: (null)
Segmentation fault
Oclvanitygen segfaults too. make clean && make doens't fix it. I know it was a really hard to get oclvanitygen to work, but vanitygen always worked out of the box.
I appreciate any suggestions where to start looking.
