So what's going on here? A battle of the ref links? What's considered a whale on everydice? I want free btc for winning! Smiley

They give their ref links saying they will give back a portion of the ref revenue but it is very hard to know which ref brought the revenue if you have many refs
On ED a whale would be someone betting in the tens of btc in total

They can how me their stats the I double check they are telling the truth and payout Smiley

If you have 3refs that play often how can you check?

Congratulation on winning the reward thresher Smiley

Well damn, I was going to dice a little more in the next 4.5 hours, but if you're calling the match early I guess I'll save my coins!

This awarding system is only good for those who live in the western semi-sphere. I'm missing the hourly giveaway which is fair universally.

No, not really.  Since it's a rolling week-long counter, the numbers are high enough that there isn't any last minute betting.

There is. Like you said in another reply, "I was going to dice a little more in the next 4.5 hours, but if you're calling the match early I guess I'll save my coins!"

I think that's a last minute(or at least, last hour) thing, it's hard for anyone who lives in Australia to get up up early to compete with you.

Yeah, that was a joke.

Nobody is going to dice 5-20BTC worth in an hour in order to try to win a .01BTC prize.  You don't have to get up early or stay up late in order to compete with the higher rollers, you just need to roll high when you play.

The give away is ON; apparently players will dice 5-20btc in an hour to win the 0.01 prize because it is fun and they want to be first
2627  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: April 16, 2014, 12:04:12 AM
Bought 200BTC at $18 more then a year ago, sold it for $80 thinking I made HUGE profit, classic screwup but who would know it would go to $1100
Just like for everyone else thats the tricky part. You can't predict what's gonna happen. In my opinion you still made a good deal, although not optimal at all.

If i kept every bitcoin that I had , when I had the most, I would have >1mUSD at todays prices. Sucks but yeah, I made a concious decision to hedge my risks back then.
Hah, yeah. It's a bit worse for the people who just lost them due to not caring as they weren't valuable at all, now realizing they'd be millionaires.

Well, then thing is, they never invested real money. So it is no that sad actually. Like the guy that had 10000 BTC on a harddrive that he mined 5 years ago on a laptop and then the harddrive ended up on the wasteplant. Not much investment right there, but sure it sucks to lose out on so much money Wink
Ah yeah. I've also had the policy to not invest any of my own money into bitcoins. I can't afford unsafe investments, even tho I'm fully aware I might regret it in 5 years.

This hugely depends on your personal finances. If you have disposable income, why not throw 5% of that into a high risk/high reward investment. The upside is huge and the downside is limited to -100%. If you are also young , then this sounds like a snapcall to me. (It was for me). But be sure to not be emotional about it, and make decisions on fundametials , not panic and price.!!!
That's the problem, I don't really have a disposable income that I can invest in anything. If I had, however, I would definitely consider investing small sums in bitcoins.

In your case, I still think it would be advantageous to put small amounts of money that you receive as birthday presents, xmas presents, etc...into BTC.  It will grow long term, and may also keep you from spending it...
Well, in the end, it's just a risk-reward calculation everyone has to do on his own. I couldn't handle losing a single dollar, not because I needed it or that I couldn't afford to lose it, but it's a principal thing. Therefore ( for now ) I'm not putting real cash into something that
-can- theoretically drop to zero value in days. Even though the probability is low, very low, it still exists.

Most investments can loose more than 90% of their value if it goes really wrong even real estate (new laws, legal fees, revolution or natural disaster), bonds, stocks, art,...

This is for idiot .
referring yourself is easy as respiration.
we do NOT NEED THIS.

Im a close to certain that self referral is AGAINST THE RULES AND CAN GET YOU BANNED..

I'm sure self referral is easy to hide.

Not to the site admins/operators.

I think (not sure) they said it was tolerated

Since everyone is giving his ref link : https://everydice.com/?r=744 I won't give back anything but my link is a lucky link

Sure, sure...

I should have add : according to me

You can try and tell me if my asumption is correct Smiley

Anything for 1 BTC you say? How about work a few hours per day, earn 500 USD, and buy a bitcoin?
PROBLEM - SOLVED.

Yes or sell the Galaxy s4 and a few other items and buy a bitcoin
Who needs a phone anyways, right?

there are cheaper phones than galaxy s4

I think not being able to take advantage of the Mtgox vs Bitstamp price difference at the time.  That was very painful to watch.

Hopefully you didn't because you would have lost your money stuck on gox

600 coin buy wall at $502 on stamp

607BTC but will it stay there if the price goes to 502$, we may get to know soon
2634  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: April 15, 2014, 08:20:19 PM
Not the worst by any means, but i think it was a bad decision for anyone who didn't add more to their holdings on this last dip down near $335.   Understandably a lot of people have already invested all that they can afford into BTC or other alt-coins, but there really hasn't been any major substantiated news to cause the market to fall to those prices.   It was obvious that purchasing at those levels would be profitable.

This will haunt them as we shatter $5(000) in August 11.

It sure is easier in 20/20 hinsight, at the time it was easy to think it could go down some more

Why August 11? Just because why not? Tongue

It is a good idea but is that allowed?

As long as it is "real new person," I think it is valid by definition of "referral" Smiley
However I think it will be quite difficult to do this, but let see Smiley

Is it allowed to self refer yourself?

max win going to be a cool 1BTC

That is what we are hoping for, I think the winklevoss twins 40K$ number is an interesting number to keep in mind, it comes up when you try to calculate where the price could go within 2yeas
2637  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 15, 2014, 08:14:23 PM
To rationally decide to not buy a lot of bitcoins, you have to explain why it is impossible for Bitcoin to replace fiat (as a store of value, at least).
No you don't, you just need to explain why it is very unlikely. Just because something is possible doesn't mean it is probable. And I can think of a whole raft of reasons why it is improbable

Sorry if this point seems patronizing or insulting, but you need to be aware, in case you are not, of the concept of expected value.   A very large reward at very low probability may have much higher expected value than a modest reward at high probability.  Because the reward for owning bitcoin is so vast, in the fiat displacement case (which I agree is inevitable, albeit perhaps not with bitcoin as we know it today) even at vanishingly small probability it is a "rational" choice.  The concept of rationality is debatable.  But given the standard concept of rationality, the outcome is not really debatable.

We have a low probability of Bitcoin becoming an important store of value or used for international tranfers or online payments..

There is a low probability that it happens but the reward will indeed be huge if it does

A lot of traders make their trade then incite others to do the same trade by posting here
