2621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bug could be found!!! run them both in same test envrionment on: March 12, 2013, 05:32:17 AM
Gavin is paid, I think this month his payment should be revoked for this bug getting thru.

There wouldn't still be a Bitcoin but for the many months he put into it unpaid. Lighten up. If you can't take the hit, you shouldn't be in the game.

I can take the hit, it is when a bug that could have been easily found is making the entire network take a hit. Ok but now he is getting paid, so terms are different if he wasn't getting paid, I sit here and read the FUD at the beginning, but he is getting paid.
2622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In re Bitcoin Devs are idiots on: March 12, 2013, 05:24:12 AM
MPOE-PR I am calling for Gavin to not get paid this month by the foundation, I would think your with me on that. Someone needs to take blame for this bug.
2623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bug could be found!!! run them both in same test envrionment on: March 12, 2013, 04:50:19 AM
You of course tested both v0.7 and 0.8 on testnet found the flaw and reported it to the development team.  When they ignored you, you went viral sharing the incompatibility with everyone you knew.  Thanks goodness we had you ... er wait you didn't do any testing.  Most of the developers are unpaid volunteers.  Given your extensive testing experience why aren't YOU doing something?

Gavin is paid, I think this month his payment should be revoked for this bug getting thru.
2624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bitcoin Broken, Bug Bogs Blockchain! on: March 12, 2013, 01:52:06 AM
Thanks for the quick FUD but actually bitcoin price only dropped $48 to about $43 and is already up to $46.
2625  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Exchange on: March 12, 2013, 01:27:46 AM
Regardless, I wanted to setup SOME kind of btc service I could run... I understand that there will be challenges and head-aches, but you get that with any business, and I'm certainly prepared for them...

See that is where your wrong, and I know people are going to say I am trolling or whatever, but someone has to be real. Yes back in the good old days when bitcoin was under the radar, go ahead and start an exchange. Today you need lawyers, cause if something goes wrong like a hack, you will be hearing from lawyers. Also since you taking an existing outdated software, you have to work twice as hard to get it in running order, check for bugs. Do you know how to do your own security audits? I mean I don't want to push you away and say, no but it isn't really in the cards. An exchange is one of the toughes sites, to build, to manage, to just keep running. It is like being in the a bull run with a target on your back, you will wake up everyday to a new issue. You have to keep rewriting the trade matching engine until it is super fast. This is why exchanges make so much money, cause no one really wants to venture out and start an exchange. I been apporach by many people even some highly respected people to be brought on board to write an exchange software. I always say no, the exchange never happens. It takes a lot more then just code, you have to live and breathe this creation everyday, and it will tire you out real fast. You seem like a great person, I think trying your hand at some other projects wouldn't be a bad idea but an exchange is certainly an ambitious project to start your career in the bitcoin world.
2626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How large an Amazon EC2 instance for Bitcoin? on: March 12, 2013, 01:15:15 AM
Amazon EC2 purpose is handle highly scalable services.

NOT critical services.

It was made to handle netflix, where there are no damage if the thing go down (Beside angry people).

It is not supposed to handle... bitomat.

But it seems like the same thing no? Its a server. Bitcoin needs highly scalable (look at gox!) and I think the Netflix people would think an enormous amount of damage would be done if it went down. Netflix is worth more then all of bitcoin combined.

I am sincerely interested in your opinion, but could you offer any facts to support it? Something I could read up on?

If GOX was using EC2, they be incredibly dumb, they would have to play by amazon's rules and could lose control of the information really quickly. Lets be honest here, for the benefits of EC2 you would not get them. EC2 is great scalability horizontally.
2627  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: POLL: Is TradeFortress a scammer? on: March 11, 2013, 08:12:22 PM
Yeah that site is horrible I just looked thru it, but you got to stop bitching and whining your getting it written and move on. TF is kid who wants to be a developer, just leave it alone.
2628  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Btcjam scammer. Data is here. Please help accuse! on: March 10, 2013, 06:34:49 PM
I hoped you learned a lesson, the interest rate for a 1 & 2 BTCs @ 10% for 7 days, is insanely high. Better do more homework before hitting that invest button.

So then, if DD = making sure interest is under x% (how much btw?) couldn't the site just put a limit on the max interest that can be offered?

Do you think if the site did that, the scammers would go away, or the appalling return rate would improve?

Heh.

I doubt it would get rid of scammer, but it is one of the first things I check. If it doesn't make sense why the interest rate is high then 90% scammer, or 10% just stupid person that doesn't understand.
2629  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please dont let bitcoinstore fail, your action is needed just about now. on: March 10, 2013, 09:51:41 AM
They need ~$739,036 worth of purchases in less than 21 days... That is insane! I am also really surprised they started so high, I know he wants to keep prices completive and I am guessing he is doing that by ordering whole sale. I know Roger Ver is behind this and he started memory dealers so I am kinda confused he does know the space and for a startup he should know this is insane.
2630  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many posts do I need to make before I can post on other boards? on: March 10, 2013, 07:56:39 AM
Nice policy - it is a pity I was not registered when soaking info before ...

Maybe you need to stop soaking up sarcasm and soak up information, sarcasm damages your brain Wink

2634  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why I Prefer to Trade BTC/USD at BitFloor instead of MtGox on: March 09, 2013, 04:15:17 AM
If they gladly talked about the steps they are taking to be more security I would gladly trade on them, but a hack really doesn't sit well with me, even if they are trying pay back users affected.
2635  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 09, 2013, 03:28:40 AM
GPG is already too easy how much more easier do you want it?

i know you're not serious. you couldn't possibly be serious.

Very serious LOL 100% serious, I don't know what software you were using but honestly I know about 10 people non-techies that use gpg no problems.

All my depositor's funds are 100% guaranteed and will not lose any funds due to any defaults.

This is impossible to promise since I am guessing you didn't have 3700 btc on reserve...
The deposit ended, he returned everyone's coins, and was one of the (very) few people who didn't default in the lending shitstorm. As for the "coins on reserve" thing, ideally, he had 3700 coins worth of illiquid assets to back up the deposits.

In lending like this, there is no guarantees and you can't promise those claims, it is false advertising and lying. So unless he can prove before he had the coins before he started collecting coins, which he can't, and should have said when he first posted it, then you can't guarantee it.
2637  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Auction/Sell] qcu.co - [Cancelled] bacause my Post was Raided for gweedo. on: March 09, 2013, 03:23:49 AM
Again..

1. I'm not a con-man,
2. I wasn't looking for some "stupid" newbie to buy, just hopping for people who wants it and recognices his value.
3. If many people tell you that you're wrong, maybe you are.
4. You aren't the god of this forum, fighting against all te people you can, i have readed you before, you are pretty lame.
5. You just raided my post, you haven't even read the links I gave you, you even not want to learn more, you just went full stubborn.
6. You don't know all about this subject, maybe you know many other things, but about appraising DOMAIN NAMES, you don't.
7. You haven't word.
8. You were the con-man trying to scam me to sell lower.
9. If you see that the price was 10 btc ~ 25 btc, why did you offer 1.7? even though, i said no, but you just keep pushing and raiding my post.
10. Smart? Bussines Man? you forgot beautiful i think...

I'm done trying to make you reason, i was polite, but now i'm just pissed, you became my post in a battlefield, of people trying to make some sense on you, and you just fighting back inmerse on your ignorance (as usually you do)

As we said in my country "The Ignorance is bold..."

You were never polite to be honest, you just dismissed a valid offer, and you did try and con-me you used two sites that didn't appraised the value correctly. One was a marketplace WHERE YOU entered the price and tried to pass it off as the site gave you the price. The second one was counting in things that where from your parked domain page. You clearly don't understand how this works. I never said I was god, and thanks for thinking I am lame Wink but I do know a lot about domains and if your listening to a 14yr old over me then you clearly don't understand domain sales.

If you look no one has brought your domain why? Cause you think it is worth something crazy, that is why. I was going to buy it but I don't take kindly to CON-MEN screwing me or others over.

Lets be honest one person sided with you and the other person saw it my way, so where are all these people that are against me?

If I am the con-man or broke a contract get a 3rd party to check this over, and if I am found guilty, I will gladly send you the 25btc just cause I am not a scammer or a con-man and I think that is disrespectful for calling me something that I have never done.

When I am right I know I right and I defend it to the end cause I never say anything that is false, unlike you I do my research so yeah if you see my post as fighting with people take as that. Or take it as that I am defending against people that I have proven wrong and they can't handle it just like you Wink

I would like to sell my domain qcl.me it is worth 100BTC biding will start at 90BTC GO... LMAO
Alright.  I'll take you up on that offer.  I'll have a third party come to here and read the thread over (I'll ask in OTC).

BTW, the key part of this case is that you didn't say that you had to "agree with the proof."  You just said he had to prove it.  And he did.

Is this your domain, honestly like move on, you have no idea how to price domains. Also I want to see the third-party cause next thing I know it will be someone in his pocket or something. If you look he didn't prove it at all, he just showed two sites that one that is a marketplace where he typed it in, and one that doesn't calculate it correctly. I want someone that has sold at least 20 domains, that know the marketplace for 5 character domains, and is impartial to me and him.
2638  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 09, 2013, 02:05:01 AM
The way I see it, as soon as the idea catches on there will be at least a dozen audenx trust networks maybe using the same protocol, maybe not.  Don't you think it would be best to start with an OPEN protocol (as in NOT tied to any specific address)?

Yes!

Ideally, I'd like to see the AudenX.com website develop into a showcase of how such an open protocol can work, and of how easy to use it could be. Whether the protocol that ultimately emerges requires users to send outputs to a certain address or not, I imagine there will still be a place in that ecosystem where users will need products (web, mobile, etc.) that give them easy interfaces to the trust info on blockchain. Long-term, I'm hoping AudenX can offer products like that. Near-term, AudenX could just be a testing ground to get the wheels turning in peoples' heads. There are already a ton of ideas I have that presuppose the existence of this trust data — but the protocol needs to exist first, and I need to find a group of people interested in using it.

But there is not a protocol... So you just hoping people will recognized this as uniformed way of doing trust. I really think this needs more time to be thought out, I think your jumping in with two feet, but it takes a lot of time to develop these things.

2640  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Working on an idea for simple web-based alternative to bitcoin-otc web of trust on: March 09, 2013, 01:35:29 AM
Well that is true, but they will figure it out that it will be more and more important as there bitcoin career goes on.

GPG is not necessarily TOO hard, but it is certainly and without question the HARDEST form of authentication to adopt.  I recently joined the WoT and was pleasantly surpised to see it using GPG. This allowed me to renew some very old keys, update my passwords and generally update myself on the state of the technology. But I was very disappointed to say the least at how difficult it was to get everything working properly (invalidating old keys, updating the public repos, etc).  I was even more disappointed by how difficult it is to get verified on IRC (at one point I just quit and had to restart the next day).

The only way I can see a non-geek making this work successfully is if you literally "hold their hand and move their fingers for them", then write auth "scripts" that they can use on IRC. I get a little turned off when people suggest that its sooo EASY as if anyone who can't figure it out on their own is an idiot.

I'm totally in favor of both GPG and 2-factor auth.  I'd say that Google Authenticator (free and open source on most platforms) finally made 2FA possible for everyone.  Someone needs to do the same thing for GPG.
--------------------

Moving on, I really like this idea of blockchain trust, but I'd never support a system that was centralized (the same way bitcoin-otc is now) to one organization.  Most of the projects that I'm looking into and working on now are trying to decentralize a centralized service and I think this is the right direction moving forward.

The way I see it, as soon as the idea catches on there will be at least a dozen audenx trust networks maybe using the same protocol, maybe not.  Don't you think it would be best to start with an OPEN protocol (as in NOT tied to any specific address)?

Wait you know how to use GPG and you couldn't use IRC and GPG at the same time, with gribble, then obviously you never knew how to use GPG in the first place LMAO If you know GPG then gribble is a piece of cake probably even easier.

GPG is already too easy how much more easier do you want it? Like you said do you want someone to move the mouse for you that is the only way it will get easier.

Actually there are two people that are non-geeky ident on OTC Wink so yeah I guess they know magic or something.
