1621  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Can Armory be trusted as much as Bitcoin-Qt? on: November 22, 2013, 05:43:38 PM
Plus it is open source, so you can check it and make sure it will not steal your bitcoins.

OP's concern is about how many people are actually reviewing the code.

I know I look at the source before updating, I can't put a number on it, but there's a big community clearly but the subforum.
1622  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: <<WTS>> Pyramining Accounts on: November 22, 2013, 05:28:53 PM
I will give you 2 BTCs for all of them, but I need pyramining to validate they can change the withdraw address and that is this not against their TOS.

Also don't post the login address, just have pyramining announce here if that is correct, otherwise anyone will be able to look at the stats.
1623  Economy / Speculation / Re: Richard Branson + Virgin Galactic Endorses Bitcoin on: November 22, 2013, 04:28:45 PM
This is just a pr stunt, and will probably not move the price that much.

It will definitely help. He actually recommends people investing in it if they have money to invest.

Not when he was asked in the news piece he said something along the lines "I will tell you off the record". Not giving me the sense he is 100% into bitcoins I would say this would give him about 60%.

Or perhaps he just wanted to keep his personal investment decisions private?  I think it fun news and the meme, "to the moon", certainly gets a nice boost with this.   Wink

Hey if it was in my price range I be signing up to go to the moon LMAO

This is just a pr stunt, and will probably not move the price that much.

Even if it moves the price a bit, that would be great.  But the important thing to note here is that one of the wealthiest and well known people in the world, Sir Richard Branson, wants to part of BTC and believes in its future.  Get a few more powerful people to join, and the rest will come!

He didn't say that, did you hear him? He didn't even want to speculate that much. Plus he even said he is converting it to cash on the spot, if it is his cash we still don't know.

Branson's personal blog:

I have invested in some bitcoins myself, and find it fascinating how a whole new global currency has been created. For people who can afford to invest a little in bitcoins, it’s worth looking into.

First off if that is his personal blog that is just one big ad LMAO So anything on that blog I wouldn't taken too seriously.
1627  Economy / Speculation / Re: Richard Branson + Virgin Galactic Endorses Bitcoin on: November 22, 2013, 04:15:38 PM
This is just a pr stunt, and will probably not move the price that much.

any PR is good PR, but even if his purchases don't help push bitcoin up in the short-term, him getting on board brings ALOT of attention from the big guys who are now going to want to invest in bitcoin. So this helps solidify bitcoin's position further and also reduces the likely hood of governments "banning" bitcoin, since Governments worship celebrity and big shots endorsements.

And don't forget the fact a major corporation Virgin Galactic, a space travel corporation (and Virgin itself is one of the largest corporations in the world) plans to accept Bitcoin is a huge vote of confidence for the whole "Bitcoin as a currency" argument.

Did we need a vote of confidence as a currency? I am pretty sure the government and most places saw we are a currency. If this was 2012 or 2011, I be excite, today, I am just not seeing it taking us anywhere.

Now if he said, I am keeping the bitcoins that we get, then I would think differently. Just him saying that he is using bitcoin is kinda like him trying to ride the train. He is a PR stunt guy, that is how he gets people excited about his projects. The space travel had not been in the news for a while.

This kinda hurts, and this will make his following think a bit before buying bitcoins.

1630  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: callback or polling to notify from bitcoind on: November 22, 2013, 04:02:37 PM
Thanks for the quick and succinct reply!

Would walletnotify also work?

Actually that would work better probably. I just woke up so I must be still sleeping LOL
1631  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: callback or polling to notify from bitcoind on: November 22, 2013, 03:54:49 PM
Code:
-blocknotify=<cmd>     Execute command when the best block changes (%s in cmd is replaced by block hash)

Use that then just check if the transaction has enough confirmations.
1632  Economy / Speculation / Re: Richard Branson + Virgin Galactic Endorses Bitcoin on: November 22, 2013, 03:49:17 PM

1633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP COINVALIDATION. on: November 22, 2013, 07:19:29 AM
Is there an official statement from the Bitcoin Foundation on this specific issue?  I would like to see it.

I don't think so, or it maybe locked up behind the guard garden which is their forum.
1634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP COINVALIDATION. on: November 22, 2013, 06:55:04 AM
where is bitcoin foundation?  why are they not actively trying to discredit COINVALIDATION?

So innocent, lets see the foundation is trying to help these people they don't care about privacy, only when it comes to their private forum. Otherwise they welcome this.
1635  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction one casascius S2 10 BTC (silver with gold trim) on: November 22, 2013, 05:36:39 AM
Gotcha.  Completely missed your second post. First thing I saw were the bids. Tongue

Can gweedo confirm his bid is BTC10 BTC + $10K USD or is he trolling?

Not trolling, just reading a hundred different things and not paying attention Smiley My bid as stated by goat is invalid.
1636  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction one casascius S2 10 BTC (silver with gold trim) on: November 22, 2013, 05:11:11 AM
10BTC + $10 USD

Acquiring a lot of things in this community, do you guys have funding? Can you point us to the VC firm that gave you this funding? Or are you just giving stock in your company in which case where is your LLC registered out of?

Hi gweedo,

Right now we are self-funded, but we hope to make some related announcements soon. As for the other details, those will be trumpeted out along with such news. Apologies for any vagueness, but there's a little sensitivity around the subject until it's all signed, sealed and delivered. Hope you understand.

Yeah I wasn't expecting a straight answer, but sounds good, of course I be on the look out.
