It would be much more interesting to have 1 btc to 1000 people than 1000 btc to one dude, which everyone will think is rigged..
Interesting question. @rekcahxfb_authentic : do you have any plan for this? A pre-announced list of addresses with a provably fair method to pick a winner? There's a lot of speculation on how this will turn out. It would be nice if you can post in that thread.

* Pool is my account. It's an experimental Lottery Pool. This is how it works: 6 people have sent 1 mBTC ("/tip Pool 1" in Rollin Chatter Box) to Pool. For 6 consecutive draws, Pool buys 10 Lottery Tickets. Yesterday was the fifth draw for Pool, and it won 6 mBTC. Pool has sent 1 mBTC to englishflavor, Tipjar, Humberbot, mowin90, Humbertin19_ and Loyce.
For tonight's draw, Pool has 10 Tickets again. Tomorrow Pool will open a new round.
26323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hardfork Confirmed. ETH and DAO Price Soaring. on: August 09, 2016, 05:31:04 PM
The DAO hacker will not dump because dumping would reveal his position, then the exchange would pass this info to authorities. DAO hacker dump is FUD.
Tell me, what law did he break? Following a Smart Contract with "code is law" rules? I would be very interested to see that lawsuit develop.
The only ones who - in my opinion - did anything illegal are the ETH-founders who forked to safe their own money.

26326  Economy / Services / Re: Avatar and signature space for free on: August 08, 2016, 08:45:10 PM
If someone know how to stylize signature we can get more room for another user?
After typing all this (below), I only now see you have a signature designer in .. wait for it .. your signature! Cheesy

Can you just add another one behind the current lines? Something like this:

Get a secure 1Pretty3icg1 Bitcoin Address for free. ■█■ Avatar and signature space for free.

Code:
[url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1424634]Get a [u]secure[/u] [color=green]1[b]Pretty[/b]3icg1[/color] Bitcoin Address for free.[/url] [color=limegreen]■█■[/color] [url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1567296][b][color=navy]Avatar[/color][/b] and [b][color=navy]signature[/color][/b] space for free.[/url]

It may work better with center-tags:

Code:
[center][url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1424634]Get a [u]secure[/u] [color=green]1[b]Pretty[/b]3icg1[/color] Bitcoin Address for free.[/url] [color=limegreen]■█■[/color] [url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1567296][b][color=navy]Avatar[/color][/b] and [b][color=navy]signature[/color][/b] space for free.[/url][/center]

I'm not sure how wide a signature can go, and it may be different in a different browser. If it wraps the first line to the next line, the third line may disappear.

Either way, thanks so far! I've made a few more vanity addresses for people.

26330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When gamble small amount i win and when i gamble big i loose. on: August 07, 2016, 10:19:38 AM
That thing happens to me very often whether i am gambling in dice sites or i am having sports betting in soccer, basketball or cricket.
I am gambling since 2 years and that thing mostly happens with me dont know i am unlucky or there is some reason behind this.
Is this happens with you also? Can u figure out what is the reason behind this ?
Can you back this up with solid data? I think you can't!
What happens is you play much more small bets, and win a lot of times, but quickly forget the losing bets, because it's small amounts. When you play big, your chances are still the same, but you remember the losses much longer.
Statistics aren't intuitive, and "feeling" a certain way doesn't necessarily mean it's true.
If you would have carried out a full statistical analysis, you would have posted the data, so I assume you didn't.
26331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All BitcoinEater Adresses on: August 06, 2016, 09:44:37 AM
Regarding the higher value of the other coins, I don't really see that. If someone sends 1000 bitcoin there, do you think exchange rates feel that? I don't think so.
1000 BTC is 0.006% of all Bitcoins. That could mean $0.01 on the exchange rate. It's a tiny amount, just like 1000 Bitcoins is a tiny fraction of the total.

surley it is impossible for anyone to have the keys to these address because it would take an eternity to produce a vanity address like that?  am i right?
Producing the private key is not possible. And if it would be possible, why take the BitcoinEater-address holding 13 BTC, when there are addresses with 141,000 BTC?
26332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All BitcoinEater Adresses on: August 06, 2016, 09:00:52 AM
I typed a bit about this just 2 days ago.

You can create your own Proof of Burn-address here.

The list from Patrick349 are just addresses with balance. For some reason someone sent 0.001 BTC to each of them in one transaction.

blockr.io allows to search with only a small part of the address. If I search 1Bitcoin, it gives 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE (I guess it's the highest balance starting with 1Bitcoin).
Blockonomics gives a few more options. I'm still looking for a site that shows all (used) addresses starting with a certain string.

i wonder when that 13 btc was sent? maybe during that time, btc only worth pennies.
No need to wonder, you can just look it up in blockchain. That's about $7000 including fee 3 days ago.

Congratulations, I'll update your rank when your next payment is sent out.
Thanks!

Signing a message from multisig address is possible ?
Google doesn't provide an instant solution, so it may not be easy.
Maybe doublemore can send a small amount from the original addy to guitarplinker as proof of ownership?

This is an unlikely one, so I did a case insensitive search for you.

26335  Economy / Gambling / Re: Let's Create a Bitcoin Lottery! on: August 05, 2016, 08:29:15 AM
-The odds are too low. Like I was saying in my previous point, people betting with Bitcoin want to get rich quick and simply don't see these odds very attractive.
I don't think the odds are the problem. In a "normal" lottery, (most) people don't even know the odds. They also don't know the house edge (which is huge!). All they care about, is how high the jackpot is. If it's $300 million, people buy much more tickets than when it's $3 million, even though the odds are much worse.
For Bitcoin, there aren't enough users to make a huge pot, and you won't get enough users without the huge pot.

26338  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 1000 BTC Giveaway - what might be happening. on: August 05, 2016, 07:54:43 AM
False. There's nothing wrong with posting your address in that thread, that does not make you any less trustworthy than you already are. It comes down to what one would do in the case that they won and it was proven to be stolen money.
I agree. Getting 1kBTC in possibly stolen money will cause a lot of sleepless nights, figuring out what to do with it, and hopefully getting some legitimate profit out of it. Edit: finders fee, reward, or hey, it may not (all) be stolen after all. Either way, I see no harm in joining this.
Although I can dream about having that kind of money, I'm mainly just curious what happens. Seeing 1kBTC burn would be an amazing development too.

26340  Economy / Gambling / Re: Let's Create a Bitcoin Lottery! on: August 04, 2016, 08:42:34 PM
Hey guys just a thought; what if there were a way to create a bitcoin lottery?
I've been involved in a Bitcoin Lottery recently, so I'd like to share my experiences.
The Lottery is ran by a Bot in rollin Chatter Box. I've explained the details on my blog: RollinGames.

Short summary: 1 mBTC is the minimum amount to buy 10 Tickets, 1 winner takes all. Later we may change it to a few prizes, depending on how popular it gets.
It has zero house edge, and (as a promo) often a bonus in the pot, which makes it EV+.
It is possible to donate tickets to other users, and there's also a Ticket giveaway ran by me here on Bitcointalk.

The lowest prize was 5 mBTC, the highest prize was 298 mBTC.

Since it's run by a Bot made by a Mod in a Bitcoin casino, it doesn't need to have a house edge, being a promo is enough. If it ever gets very big we can see how to go from there, but that's not the goal.
When Lottery closes, it waits for 2 new Bitcoin blocks to be found. The hashes are used as inputs for a random number. It's been running for about 2 months now, the aim is to be provably fair, and we welcome anyone to challenge the current implementation. So far that hasn't happened.

2 different people replied in 2 hours? thats without people risking any funds. as for people willing to play.. not yet seen one person pleading you to make it.
Indeed, a Lottery doesn't have the appeal of for instance gambling. It's great fun to watch in a Chat though, but only as something that runs on the side.

Like have an address signed for 0.1 and have people pay 0.0001 to like have one ticket in the lottery to a separate address?
Do you mean a fixed pot and an unknown number of tickets? That could be very interesting, but I think you'll be losing money when you try it.
