2661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: April 15, 2014, 12:44:50 AM
something tells me we have done it once before so we will have no problem doing it again.

And more! It seems very difficult to get the price in the high 4digits in 2014 but a lot can change real fast; when the USD will crash while Europe is dealing with a huge banking/gov debt problem people are going to bid higher and higher for the coins available but a lot of us won't be selling

There will be no US dollar crash in 2014. The Yuan isn't suitable as a global reserve currency as no-one in their right mind wants to be at the mercy of Chinese Communist authorities. The Euro region has stabilised and bitcoin is being increasingly regulated as a commodity and hoarded by those who use it, negating its supposed purpose as a medium of exchange.

All currencies need the ability to be converted into one another and with bitcoin being more of a commodity and less and less acceptable around the world with the IRS putting its boot down on any aspirations BTC had to be an internationally recognised currency, it's worthless. Only nerds, fringe-dwellers and criminals will utilise bitcoin going forward. The dream is over, hahaha!

 Cheesy

 Wink

That is very pessimistic, the regulation in the US in inconvenient but not that bad and Bitcoin has been regulated differently elsewhere

The unfunded US liabilities, the FED printing money and the increasing EU government debt promise a huge economic storm for the western world within 2yeas; I would be surprised if it doesn't start before the end of 2014 but the banks failures, riots, political turmoil and devaluation will follow

Having some Gold or bitcoins will feel great when all this unfold

OK. just need to break 499 now before we are out of the wedge! then 510 is last major resistance, and maybe we will see the real short squeeze!

It goes up and then it stays really steady around a specific number, 460$ on bitstamp atm

I am betting on a bull trap, we may see one or two other dip before we get going this summer and in autumn
2663  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Fucking Ponzi's and the idiots that buy into them + List of Shills on: April 14, 2014, 10:52:23 PM
what do we need to do to have ponzi's removed from gambling section. Why is it soo hart to make category just for them?!

It's not hard at all and multiple posts have been made in Meta regarding it but it's obvious that the enforcement done by the admin and moderators is limited to only spamming.

There seems to have been an overall reduction in ponzi posts though so either people are finally wising up to the scam or mods are finally moving the posts

I think the players get smarter and the ponzis owners stay the same; a few smart guys tried to do ponzis games but they ended up shutting it down sometimes leaving with the money left in the wallet

2665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 14, 2014, 10:47:08 PM
In the future:
wealthy = ~2 to 10 BTC
Wealthy elite = ~100+ BTC

For your grand-kids the numbers needed will probably be lower.
FYI: A ticket on Satoshi's spaceship (when he returns) will cost at least 10 to 20 BTC.

Dang...how do I get to Wealthy elite!   Cry

I'm just merely future wealthy... Sad

Buy more coins.   Wink

Haha true!  Maybe you can convince my wife that I should buy more even though she thinks we have 1 too many.   Cool

Has she seen this thread?  ........LOL?  Cheesy

Show her the thread.  Help her believe.  Smiley  Tell her that someday in the near future she will be able to spend only $1 for a pair of $100 shoes or maybe even $1 for a $1000 handbag if she just holds onto Bitcoin for a few years.

I try my best to convince her.   Tongue

She gets scared easily, thinks it's too risky.  I try to explain the benefits, but she says a little investment is okay for now.  To put more into bank savings not bitcoin savings.

It's an ongoing struggle, but at least I convinced her to download Bitcoin Core and buy 1 BTC for herself.  Just to see where it goes.  Grin

I'll take the small victories.  I think when her girlfriends and family start talking about it, she'll take me more seriously.  I genuinely think she thinks I'm crazy.   Cheesy

In a good way though...she lets me do my thing.  Once we spike up to $1000, I'm sure I'll be cursing her to holy hell though!   Angry Grin

Maybe you can convince her to buy some gold too it is way better than fiat
2666  Economy / Speculation / Re: Value of Bitcoin will go down on: April 14, 2014, 10:45:31 PM
prepare for the rollercoaster  ride Grin

when btc is low price, many will buy.

Quote
Verry funny .. and what will you do with all your coins that you can't turn them into fiat ? Because of the banks that don't allow you to make a transaction to your account ?

Buy stuff  online. Many online services and shops.. you dont need to exchange to fiat.

When the western banks shut down, having BTC will be like having gold except it will be easier to use : you can send some to your friends and buy pretty much everything; some good banks located in free countries will still accept it
2667  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: April 14, 2014, 09:02:12 PM
do you think the coins he sold caused the fall or simply the loss of faith after the MtGox scandal?

We don't know if he sold any coins and if he did sold some it wouldn't have that much of an effect; the mtgox fiasco, rumors of a china ban and the fact we were in need of a correction are probably a few ways to explain the fall

+ the pesimism the fall created..

People get pessimistic so they sell some coins or they sell to buy cheaper or short..

EDIT : one more thing to fix - log in will be enabled once I have made the fix and i will remove this edit.
And you're still fixing this?
Yes. It is fixed. http://xbtcontracts.org
thanks for the fix! 1.46 now!! not long to go!

It is long though, players are rightfully careful
There are no big deposits; when we pass contract 5 and if it pays I think there will be way more deposits
what you say is true, however the admin has shown he is more competent than the last by how he recover from the hack to the site and fix the attack vector. It shows he really is making back ups and that our funds are safe. I think is also slow to fill up on this contract because of the time to fix and as the admin said, he spend his advertising funds to restore accounts... yours included, and he did not even have to do that!

He did that because he was his own interest but I am ready to wait and see, I don't say anything bad about the website, just be careful guys; I would love it if we finish the contract and every player receive its payment
2669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats your wallet balance? on: April 14, 2014, 08:59:48 PM
Lol, do you guys also receive a whole bunch of annoying letters from supplicants after having posted here?  Grin
Dying Animals, Bombed Houses, Sick Family Members, the stories are outrageous  Grin

Haha no because I didn't say how much I had (if I have any)

It is strange to see all the negativity about Bitcoin in the "Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion" when it has gone from 0 to where it is and with all the potential and talent that has a vested interested in Bitcoin success
2671  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 14, 2014, 07:24:42 PM
This is a very dangerous game. The levered shorts are hoping another China crash will come before they are force liquidated and the levered longs are counting on the shorts getting liquidated before the crash. Smart players like TERA are long but not levered, ready to pull the trigger and profit either way and I'm on the sidelines watching and learning.

The swap fees amount to somewhere around 60% annual interest. The pressure is building and is going to blow one way or the other.

The bear market didn't suddenly end because some exchange decided to invest in ATMs. China isn't suddenly irrelevant. A SUSTAINED reversal isn't something that happens this quickly with no big news. If it happens at all it happens slowly as utility value replaces speculative value.

The question every wise investor asks themselves is "Is time my friend or my enemy?" If time is your enemy, chances are you are on the wrong side of the trade.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but there has been unexplained reversals in the past (or rather, you find out the news after the run-up, which seems more likely these days with institutional money). Nice volume today though, gonna be an exciting week it seems.

and the idea that there has been plenty of good news and progress buried in the fear of China's policy making methods

There has been plenty of good news and progress, but the fundamentals haven't changed overnight by 17%.  Fear of Gox closing dominated until it closed. Fear of China crashing will dominate until it crashes. If it doesn't crash, that fear will weigh on the market until some even bigger fear weighs on the market. Satoshi coins entering market, FBI coins, another exchange getting hacked or closing, regulatory doomsday, another prominent Bicoin personality getting arrested, or maybe someone just happens to find their four year old hard drive with hundreds of thousands of coins on it.

Good news doesn't mean as much in a bear market. People are looking for an excuse to sell, not to buy. There are people with substantial holdings without enough cash to wait out an extended bear market. They are selling little amounts to get by, extending the bear market. Things have to get worse before they get better. Capital has to move from incompetent managers to competent managers. That's why it's called a "correction".

We are in a bear market because good news are disregard, it will be the other way around when we will resume the bull market

Odds are we will dip again soon, it is way more likely than the scenario where we are already coming back up but at some point we will come back up and it will be crazy

There is a lot of potential for a big negative event such as the mtgox shut down but there is at least as much potential for a big positive event and I feel that we can overcome most big negative events when positive events will have a positive effect long term; the potential is so huge, 450$/BTC feels like a steal to me

Nothing yet lol. This will change asap though.

I wish you many BTCBTCBTCBTC

I found working for BTC better wayto earn them than mining Cheesy
And you can start asap with no devices Smiley

Find some task, do it, earn Smiley and you have bitcoins! :]

Sig deal works, getting a lot of refs on freebitco gets you some dust, the most efficient to get some btc is to buy with your savings or the product of a sell

I have to agree, I am uncomfortable at this price somehow.
short is the choice for now.

At this point I am not sure, I wouldn't be surprise to see the price dip again or a spike up higher than 500
2678  Economy / Gambling / Re: EveryDice.com | 0.01 BTC Free Daily Giveaway Now! on: April 14, 2014, 05:08:47 PM
I feel like the 0.01/day giveaway is bringing a TON of action; maybe they should do a 0.001/hour and 0.1/month giveaway as well!

That is good idea!

I might have chance for that hourly 0.001BTC, I have no way to get that daily price, so it would be nice for me Smiley
it will also boost the bets placed!

If you are smart you will bet during hours where there are the least bets and you can pocket the 0.001

No way, it's calculated on the accumulated amount you wagered in the last 24 hours.

No on the last 7days for the current give away

I was talking about the give away that doesn't exist (yet) and would give away 0.001/hour
2679  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 14, 2014, 05:05:35 PM
You may notice a reduction in the number of referrals that you have. This is because we have deactivated the accounts of users who have not logged in to play in the last 60 days, to improve database performance. This will not affect your income because if these users return to the website, they will be moved to the active users list and you will again start getting commissions from their free play winnings.

If the revenue doesn't change it's not that bad but it was super nice to know how much refs we had!! To know if our efforts were effective, now it may go down even if you gain some more refs but you get to know how active refs you have; having both numbers would have been great

You don't show the stats for most money won from refs, why?
A member won more than 1BTC
2680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats your wallet balance? on: April 14, 2014, 05:03:13 PM
Wallet balances should have definitely increased with this last dip into the  $300s

Should Wink if you have money to buy some ;P
Smiley I was unlucky because I wasn't able to buy any Sad

And perhaps future will bring mosly ++ than -- ...

I hope many of you bought BTCs during last week crisis.
 Smiley

If people bought it means people sold. The sum of all wallets only increased by the new bitcoins created
