26661  Economy / Services / Re: Need ESCROW [0.005btc] on: May 31, 2016, 06:22:02 AM
you dont seem to have history ? its around 0.17 btc deal.
From the topic title I expected a 0.005 BTC deal, which already surprised me you're asking for escrow for such a low amount.
I can do it too, but I'm not that trusted here I think Tongue I am a trusted Mod elsewhere, but can't/won't use that here.
How long ago did you try to contact "the usual" escrows on bitcointalk?
26662  Other / Off-topic / Re: Secret of Happiness on: May 30, 2016, 09:07:11 PM
The secret: be happy with what you have! I know it's not always easy though, as humans tend to always want more.
26663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: May 30, 2016, 10:46:45 AM
The thought of not using a currency one grew up on. That's probably one of the many reasons. It's all they all know.
I doubt it. Hundreds of millions of Europeans are forced to use a currency they didn't grew up on. That doesn't stop them from using it, although I don't know anybody who liked the switch.
26664  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is the price dropping? on: May 30, 2016, 09:07:36 AM
The price is not dropping at the moment but rising and it is currently on its way to hit $500. It can be true that the price has dropt a bit i the process but I am sure that it is going rise short after that again.

That is right. The price hit $500 two days ago. It is around $520 now. It might be $550 in early June.
It touched $550 yesterday already for a moment. Now it's about $20 under the peak. I'm guessing $600 in July now. But that's just speculation of course Smiley
26665  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain down!??!?!!? on: May 30, 2016, 06:42:41 AM
Hey everyone!

I cant see my coins in my wallet or on the blockchain anymore.
No transactions.. Is the Blockchain down or something like that?

Address: 1YNG7ujEh14ospWf8BHZLSEv4DUW1CtS1

~Hamukione
If you mean blockchain.info: it works fine. You can't show an empty address and be surprised nothing is in there. If you're in doubt, try a different block explorer, for instance http://blockexplorer.com/ .

I have had several transactions on it, and I currently have 0.64 BTC in it O_O
That's not how any of this works Cheesy You must have the wrong address.
26666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] Anybody else find it difficult to keep up with so many coins? on: May 29, 2016, 05:55:50 PM
I gave up on most altcoins, it's a lot easier to manage just a few different coins. I did try a lot, but I know I lose from the big whales and experienced traders.
I still have some left, but only a few dollars worth.
26667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: May 29, 2016, 04:57:28 PM
It's all the same pump team behind them both ... so it's not really stealing.

Heh, wouldn't surprise me. I know they've recruited the same PR company as Ethereum, so no doubt the forum will be spammed soon with Lisk posts from new users.
It is pure PR indeed. The whole idea behind a "pre sale" makes no sense other than trying to start a bubble, hoping people will join, only to make the bubble stronger.
This will probably be repeated a few more times, just like a lot of altcoins were created in the past thoping to blow a bubble to make the person who started it rich.
For altcoins it doesn't really work anymore, so now the next phase is "dapps". This will work until it fails, and from that moment it won't work for any new "dappcoin" anymore.
26668  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: May 29, 2016, 08:38:51 AM
Just have a question. I don't have any graphic card installed and i want to do mining work on bounty pool but it gives me error OpenCl.dll missing which I guess is because I don't have any graphic card. So is there any way to do this work without having a graphic card??
You must have an onboard graphics card, right? My laptop has an onboard GeForce, so it can even be quite acceptable for vanity searching.
It's too slow though to be profitable for the mining pool, and if you're running CPU only, I doubt it will be worth your time and electricity.
26669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS basically DESTROYED on: May 29, 2016, 07:26:30 AM

A chance to find something simply isn't lineair, as it will never reach 100% chance.
Agree, i love vanity addresses so i studied on my own a lot. Because of that, i know you can restart your generation process how many times u want, and still have same chance to find address.
WARNING! DO NOT use the site advertised by the Red Trust user above!
Too bad red trust doesn't show up on this topic, so scammers can happily advertise their scam in this topic.

I refreshed my browser and Primedice could not load. The screen is just blank, http://myprintscreen.com/s/dq13/013f965b90. There must be a problem with primedice

Yeah im having the same issue as well. Thought it was only me  Cheesy
Same here, I thought it was the server that's down, but it's not. Shift-Reload solved it.

26674  Economy / Services / Re: Free Vanity Address Giveaway on: May 27, 2016, 01:45:34 PM
Still available! I saw another topic pop up that offers short addresses at a price, so I figured I'd bump this one with a new title Smiley

I am satisfied with your service. and I am using your given vanity address, Thanks a lot for that.
but why you need to change your threads name? do you now need money for it? Free Service is much batter then paid ones. lolzz.
You're welcome Smiley
It's still a free service, as the new thread name says.
26675  Economy / Services / Re: [SPLIT-KEY] Vanity address service - Get a custom address for Bitcoin and alts ! on: May 27, 2016, 12:25:17 PM
Of course, my service comes with top-notch security.
Top-notch security would be if the user doesn't need to trust anybody, including you. I suggest you only offer split-key addresses, to take away all doubt anybody could have.

Also, be careful offering fixed fees for a certain number of prefixes. If someone askes 11111111 it has the same length as 1exampLe (1example is not possible), but takes 2000 times longer.

26677  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: May 26, 2016, 07:41:07 PM
I suppose there's no point asking why it doesn't just make it a little more linear instead of exponential?
A chance to find something simply isn't lineair, as it will never reach 100% chance.
The chance always stays the same: if it's 500 hours for 50% chance, it's exactly the same chance after you've run it after a week. That's why you can just as well restart the the search at any moment.
26678  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: May 26, 2016, 02:38:25 PM
Exactly. The "percentage left" is cut in half every x minutes, where x is the time it shows you for 50% when you start it.

This isn't making sence.

Are you saying IF a job were to take Five hundred hours to reach 50% it would take a further

  • Five Hundred hours to reach 75%
  • Two Hundred and Fifty hours to reach 75%
  • D - Three Apples

If the answer is a further Five Hundred hours to reach 75%, (and half of 25 = 12.5% therefore 75% + 12.5% = 87.5%), would it be about (I said about people) a further two hundred hours to reach the next bench mark 80%? (not withstanding the 87.5% half of half of half of 100%)?
500 hours for 50% chance
500 more hours for 75% chance (1000 hours total)
500 more hours for 87.5% chance (1500 hours total)
etc.
26679  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: May 26, 2016, 01:42:34 PM
It is Smiley But the other way around: 100-50=50%, and that takes half the time of 100-25-75%.

= zero!

Archived for future reference http://archive.is/MXUon
Lol, why would you archive my typo? I fixed it now, I just hit the wrong button.

A few (!) pages back I mentioned the discrepancies with the time estimation for 50% 75% etc

This is from my system right now:

Quote
Searching for pattern: "1EXAmoney" Reward: 0.008000 Value: 0.000001 BTC/MkeyHr
Difficulty: 50656515217834
[38.97 Mkey/s][total 33002830692352][Prob 47.9%][50% in 15.0h]

using OclVanityMiner64.exe - to my way of thinking, half of 50 should be 25...

Similarly, this is where I'm at now...

Quote
Searching for pattern: "1EXAmoney" Reward: 0.008000 Value: 0.000001 BTC/MkeyHr
Difficulty: 50656515217834
[42.58 Mkey/s][total 40233450078208][Prob 54.8%][75% in 8.2d]

(again, I would have imagined at 40/50 I'd be 80% done - No?)

The percentage is not based on a linear algorithm.

The key's that you are processing are generated based on randomness.
So the progress indicator is following some statistical algorithms that involve normal distribution, 'bell-curves', probability etc.

In short; this indicator shows the chance that you would have found a hit by now.
Exactly. The "percentage left" is cut in half every x minutes, where x is the time it shows you for 50% when you start it.
