2681  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 29, 2014, 01:21:38 AM
Just got an S1 in today and hooked up. I have a section of ASIC status all xxxxxxxx and only running 156 Gh/s(avg).  I switched the PCI-e cables around and still the same. Upon further inspection I noted that the RF led is not a steady flashing rate on one of the blades.  Only flashes a couple times every other second or so. Definitely not behaving like the RF led on the other blade. Anything I can take a look at?

Tried a different power supply?

Guys question:

Does any of you use a UPS with their miner?

Yes, need to get another one for the ants
2683  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: January 28, 2014, 08:46:53 PM
I ordered one last weekend for 1.9 and it's still not shipped.
When do they ship?

I am in the same boat. Placed order on 25th 23:00 UK time (about 07:00 on 26th China time).
They said orders paid for before 26th 14:00 (China time) would be OK.
I think Bitmain said they have shipped all orders now but did not have time to update the tracking info before they closed for CNY.
So I am hoping my order is with UPS and will arrive later this week.
If not then we have to wait until they are back at work after the CNY ends.
That's how I read it.
Without tracking numbers it's hard to see what's happening.  Sad

PM them, they are giving out tracking numbers so I have been told.
2684  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 28, 2014, 08:28:44 PM

it started.  All i did was change the default gateway to 192.168.1.254 nothing else...

showing 181GH/s with temps at 39 and 41 degrees

YEEEHAR! THAR SHE BLOWS!

try stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 no http and no stratum+tcp just stratum.mining.eligius.st
as user set your minning address and whatever password

right

tried the following pools add's for Slush's Pool
http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332
stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333
stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
http://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

doesnt work, and I cant ping to google.com its gives error as bad address (btw typing as google.com with no www. or https)

my LAN setting is on DHCP
the WAN is set to Static IP and DHCP is disabled (as other member suggested to do)

On the Antminer, when you do the network ping tests you don't need either the leading protocol type (e.g. http://) and you don't need the port (e.g. :3333) you only need that info when you enter the pool address.

Right, so if you can't ping google.com from the network test page, then your Antminer's network is not setup correctly.

Make sure you can ping google from your computer command prompt or console, then get the following information from your computer, you should be able to get it either from ipconfig /all in a command prompt on windows or ifconfig from a console on mac or linux.

IPv4 address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
DNS Servers

You need to use that information and enter the correct parts of it into the Antminer's network settings for the WAN adapter.

IP address needs to be unique in the last 3 numbers, so don't use an address that is already used on your network (especially your own computers address) e.g. if your computer is 192.168.1.55 make sure you don't put the same IP on the Antminer.
Subnet Mask, Default Gateway & DNS Servers all need to be the same on the antminer as your computer

ok bro the ants WAN reads as

Protocol:          Static address
IPv4 address:   192.168.1.99
IPv4 netmask:   255.255.255.0
IPv4 gateway:  192.168.1.1
IPv4 broadcast: 192.168.1.255
Custom DNS:     8.8.8.8

my own info off ipconfig

IPv4 address:  192.168.1.xx    (which is on the same network as the antminer right?)
Subnet Mask:   255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254  (this is same for DHCP Gateway and for DNS Servers)

was it wrong for me to publish any of that info?  and I sent pm to elasticband but his not online... been at this for a while and im loosing heart  Huh
so the default gateway and DNS servers differ from the number reported in the antminer WAN settings, is this the prob?

No problem, thats internal network info nothing risky there.

Looks like you just need to change your Gateway and DNS servers on the Antminer to match your PC, so 192.168.1.254 which is probably your router address.

If there are still problems try 8.8.8.8 as the DNS server, but keep the gatway as 192.168.1.254

Your antminer is plugged into your router right? If so you should be good to go.

I PM'ed you re remote help if you need it.

Quick question, is the Jan batch depleted? I have 2x AntMiner 180GH/s saved in my shopping cart awaiting payment.  If I pay now, will I get bumped into the Feb.8 batch or do you guys still have some Jan batches that can be shipped out as soon as possible (before Feb. batch)?

To late now I think the place is closed for Chinese new year
2689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: January 28, 2014, 12:55:41 PM
coupon was for people who paid 2.2 BTC for miners before the price drop to 1.9 BTC.

Actually it wasn't:

Hi our loyal customers Smiley

we are developing coupon option in our website store, to offer 0.2BTC coupon for these customers who pay 2.65BTC for one AntMiner S1. this coupon will be added to your account directly no late than tomorrow morning Jan.18.

Happy mining  Cheesy

Actually - I paid 2.2 for two and received two coupons..

Yes but I'm quoting the original message from them for claritys sake, they never said it was for 2.2 if I remember correctly.

Anyway its their company they can do what they want Cheesy

thanks Biffa,
so basically i can skip the Setup IP address on your computer step and continue from the next step which is Confiigure AntMiner for Mining Bitcoin or whatever other coin.

also my psu has 2 separate pcie wires, each with two identical connectors on one wire.  If i understand correctly, its I should use both separate wires for the antminer(one for each blade)  instead of using one wire and utilizing both its heads.

correct?

If your PC is already on the 192.168.1.x range then yes you don't need to change your PC settings. Plug the antminer into your network and see if you can ping its IP address. Open a console or command prompt and type: ping 192.168.1.x (whatever the antminers address is) if you get a response then you're good to go. Or just try browsing to the antiminers ip address.

Regarding the power wires, you will have less chance of overheating/loading the wires if you use separate ones for each blade rather than a split wire, especially if you are going to overclock.

need to power two ants but only one psu has arrived 750W Rosewill Capstone Gold, Single 12V rail,  +3.3V@24A,+5V@24A,+12V@62A,-12V@0.5A,+5VSB@3A
no need to oc now, i can wait few days for second unit.   I dont know if i should use the split or what but ill figure something out

CYPER has them on a split cable, just keep an eye on the cable temperatures, they shouldn't be too hot to touch.

2693  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: January 28, 2014, 09:22:52 AM

If the gh-speed doesnt start initially from high value, then miner settles down to lower value. This is strange but perhaps there is some "initial modification" done on cgminer that sets the rate for rest of the session.

Sometimes i have to restart like 10 times to get this "high catch" effect. Its pain to wait in between, because without delay you just get fault 96/97 on vrms. Which means restarting the miner from the page (I dont like to switch off power but had to do that some times)I always wait like at least 45 seconds if vrms have been running for a while to let them cool down.

I've noticed that too, but my unit almost does it every time...if you mess with the spi freq. that can do it i think...cause i just increased mine and it didn't do it anymore...went back to stock and it did it again...

well on 251 with oct. jup...thxs to the graph i was able to finally get the hw error down to .4% and 718-723gh/s on cgminer, bertmod says 700w same as 241, but that was before better cooling fans added...have one board at 240a :O hope it doesn't fry..and also 1 board at 200a but its at 42c Smiley Hopefully pool will report higher hash now that i got the hw % down Smiley i'll know morrow morning

i don't get it. how did you use bfgminer for the stats for each asic and had the possibility to try the 251 settings. After flashing bertmod 0.4 for the use of bfgminer the cgminer.sh is an other. and after changing the volts all amp are droping(wellknown) and than it is not possible to change the values in cgminer.sh and restart bfgminer.

1. Make a copy of cgminer.sh before you install bertmod in your /config directory. Use that to modify and stop and start the miner.
2. Don't use Bertmod for bfgminer, use the latest firmware from KnC it has bertmod installed.
3. You will need to search for a modified cgminer.sh to use after you installed the latest firmware, it works with both cgminer or bfgminer to add back the overclocking parts of the script. There are a few floating around in this thread I believe
2694  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 28, 2014, 09:16:55 AM
Hi, guys.

Bitmain on his website say that "Shipping-out starts on Feb 8th." When they start taking new orders? A few days before?

What do you think ? What is the right price for you ?

I would wait for him to get back. There was some talk about new prices. I am thinking around 1.5

No way, to have the same break-even time as a January antminer @ 1.9 BTC a February one needs to be closer to 1.0-1.2 BTC given the difficulty increase. Even then it won't return as much as a January one over time. The closer to 1.0BTC they come the quicker they will break-even and the more they will make before running them becomes more expensive than the returns after 6 months.

The other option is they double the hashrate for the same price as now. That should give the same sort of return as a Jan one.
2695  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 28, 2014, 09:05:02 AM
got mine today(new version v1.6 1/4/14), both dont have the major dust problem like other have shown, one has almost no thermal paste out of place, while the other has the bleeding thermal paste coming out of both sides...

im trying to set up, havent done much but short the psu and read sushi's notes along with the threads a few times.

machine ip is:  192.168.1.xx
my ip is:         192.168.1.xx

following sushi's initial steps to Setup IP address on my computer
http://postimg.org/image/ts78f2cb9/

when i select Use the following IP address (to enter his suggestions), it no longer lets me select Obtain DNS server automatically is this ok because sushi's instructions say to select the Obtain DNS server automatically field

Firstly, if your PC is already in the 192.168.1.xx range before you started you don't need to do anything just connect to the antminer.

But if it isn't then thats correct, once you go manual you have to enter dns server manually

But, you don't need a dns server to connect to the antminer, so either leave it blank or use 8.8.8.8 (Googles public DNS) it makes no difference because you won't be able to reach it anyway unless your network is already in the 192.168.1.xx range before you started.
2696  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 27, 2014, 09:09:33 PM
Thanks. I know where it is. I measured the voltages on each pin as I wrote previously.
I wanted to see a picture of how a normal 3 pin fan like Arctic F12 is plugged in there.
I assume the white bit behind the pins will have to be cut off for the fan connector to fit.

Ah, well I just pushed a three pin fan header on the first three pins, it pushes the white plastic tongue on the header back but it works and I didn't have to cut anything off, but you could trim the lugs on the fan plug a bit to be sure if you had to.
2697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 27, 2014, 07:52:19 PM
Guys, that empty fan header on the other board - is it a standard one? Can I plug a 3 pin fan into it?

It's a 4-pin, I put arctic f12 pwm fans on all of mine. The connector is slightly different but just push it on and the white bit bends out of the way.

Can you please make a picture of the connector. Thank you.

You can see it on the top left of this pic:

Guys what is the best way to clean the thermal paste without wasting too much time?
I just received 6 out of the 9 I ordered and just opened one of them = thermal paste all over the place.

Also for some reason the driver didn't ask for any money. Maybe when they deliver the remaining 3 he will ask?

The PSUs are coming tomorrow  Angry

Pop down to Maplins and get some "Switch cleaner" its the best thing for cleaning computer components, I've been using it for over 10 years to clean TIM and other crap off electrical equipment. Comes in an aerosol can.

From 1/20/2014 update:

"At the same time we have been preparing the hardware for mandatory FCC and CE product testing and certification, and UL safety testing and certification which we have been informed will take approximately 2-3 days to complete."

It already took 7.

2-3 weeks is much more likely
