Could we have the ability to set custom graph sizes? Im sick of only seeing 24hr/72hr and two week. I had a miner drop off "I dont know when" becuase of this.. :\
Wouldn't setting an idle alert work better for that?

Some people have so many devices they set multiple miners to the same worker, so unless all devices associated with a worker go offline the idle warning won't go off.
2683  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: You do all realise what BFL are doing right? on: March 27, 2013, 02:55:54 AM
They used your preorder money for their research and development and are now using your units to mine for Bitcoins while the complexity is relatively easy with their kind of equipment. Its a win/ win. They make money from their customers and mine all the Bitcoin first. You are pretty much getting the sloppy's afterwards. GREED. Love it.

On another note I would file a class action suite. They will deliver but not until they have mined the **** out of them.

Opinions?

Opinion - smoothie can put together a more logical and coherent post.  "Complexity is relatively easy" .... do you mean low difficulty?

I think everybody in Batch 1 and 2 could only dream the BFL was secretly mining with our hardware - at least then we could say they having a working product.  Then it would just require a plane ticket and a double barrel shotgun to get our preorder.

BFL is not presently mining with an ASIC device.

/End thread.

CoinHoarder closed his group buy again... you're killing me Larry.

If there is enough interest to buy at least 1 unit I will start a group buy.  Post how much you're willing to commit.  So far I have 25 BTC from qwk

Actually he has a point. Computers/electronic are a source of positive ions which are unhealthy, it's good to have salt lamps.
Positive ions are unhealthy? Wtf? Please link a medical journal or something that can backup what you're saying, cuz I think it's horse shit.

The air is being altered by the fumes that the thermal paste, pcb, capacitors, ect. emit when running at those high temps.

I'm surprised that you do not smell it.
Are we talking about positive ions, or toxic fumes? You guys seem like you're contradicting each other. And I'll ask you the same thing: please post a medical journal or some other legitimate source that proves that computer hardware or electronic equipment at high temps can release toxic fumes.

And no, I don't smell anything.

Clarification: apparently salt lamps don't work. I used to use air purifiers while mining and thought salt lamps were superior but just now decided too look into it more and more. OTOH air purifiers are a completely different thing and advisable to use if one sleeps in the same room with mining rigs working.

http://aaqr.org/VOL11_No2_April2011/9_AAQR-10-06-OA-0048_179-186.pdf

So according to you, salt lamps are a scam, and air ionizers (which are different than air purifiers with a filter) are what you really want, cuz they can "control ultrafine aerosol pollutants in cleanrooms... at a height of 60 cm (2 feet) from the floor."
Bold and parenthesis added by me.

I don't know about you, but I don't live in a clean room, and I usually breathe with my head more than 2ft above the ground, and this is the first I've heard of GPUs giving off "aerosol pollutants".

Crazyates, what they are referring to are VOC - volatile organic compounds.   They are the major component of indoor pollution.  The CA Air Resource Board even made laws a few years back restricting VOCs so now even wood cabinets can't be made in CA lol.  A quick google search of computer VOCs shows this: http://beesl.syr.edu/pdf/Officeenvironment-abstract.pdf

There is a definite smell when using electronics.  They are not inert systems and they do decay and give off toxic chemicals.  One miner not a big deal - a mining farm probably is.
2688  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Avalon Batch 3 - medium investors - looking for 4 - 26.5 BTC each. on: March 26, 2013, 06:36:17 AM
You should state a contingency if your company fails to pay the VAT.  Unless you own the company you never know how long you'll be there Tongue
2689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: THANK YOU AVALON - Batch #3 ordering on: March 26, 2013, 06:28:33 AM
I hate to break it to you, but the real world still works in USD so it's ridiculous when you say that it's cheaper than batch 1.

I hate to break it to you, I only used BTC.

everyone had the chance to jump in when it was 10, 13, 15,17, 20, 21, 26 29, so on...
looks like your dollars doesnt not have that much value anymore

Quick, print moar dollars to have moar value.

Sorry, was channeling my inner Ben.
2690  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buying] Batch #3 is BACK now! on: March 26, 2013, 05:50:04 AM
BTW people could always buy a module from this group buy in China: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=158295.0

and then ask one of the senior miners to host the module in their Avalon.  There are several members who reside in mainland who would probably be willing to host a module - then you only need to spend 25 or so BTC instead of 75 or 100 to get your foot in the proverbial ASIC door.
2691  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buying] Batch #3 is BACK now! on: March 26, 2013, 05:45:34 AM
You joined the forums less than 3 weeks ago and you expect people to send you BTC.  At least ask somebody to do the escrow for you like Johnthedong or some reputable Hero member and have him make the Bitpay payment.

Do your due diligence people.  Anybody who sends BTC to him is taking a big risk.

At least my group buy is for local people in Southern California - if I try to run I'll have my medical license suspended for fraud. You have nothing to risk and only BTC to gain.
2692  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Batch 3 [CLOSED- DO NOT SEND FUNDS] on: March 26, 2013, 05:21:34 AM
Cut CoinHoarder some slack.  Nobody twisted anybody's arm to order.  He was probably up all night and day like I was (I was up 32 hours being on medicine call and stayed up another 9 hours to place my order).  At this point there is nothing anyone can once they sent their BTC.

Let him send out the info in the morning.  If he fails to do so then alert the mods for possible scammer alert, IP logging, etc.

Were you able to order?

Yes I placed an order successfully as I am giving up hope in BFL sending out my Day 1 order in a reasonable timeframe.  I tried earlier batches of Avalon but failed on previous attempts.

2694  Bitcoin / Group buys / [CLOSED] Avalon Batch 3 Group Buy & Hosting on: March 26, 2013, 03:10:13 AM
It looks like there's not too many people in SoCal who want to jump in on this (or they have big bucks and already bought their own units).  Since CoinHoarder put his Group Buy on hold I'll open this up to anybody worldwide.  I already placed my order for Batch #3 and thought it would sell out by now but looks like the price seems like a barrier to entry for most people.

The building I have been mining in the last 2 years is my wife's office and she's been very accommodating of my GPU farm, so having 3 or 4 Avalon units shouldn't be an a problem.  I may even buy a portable AC unit just for them if Bitsyncom thinks its a good idea.  The building is very secure with cameras and is located in front of a hospital so it even has security guards patrolling at night.

- A "small" administrative fee of 4% would be paid to maintaining an emergency fund for repairs or maintenance of the unit.  Electricity is included in my wife's office lease so for now consider it free for now.  Mining will be done on a pool (most likely OzCoin or BTCGuid).
- Dividends would be paid weekly until the group has majority agreement of when to decrease frequency.
- Shipping costs will be taken from the first dividend payment
- The mining pool will be decided by the group.  If a consensus cannot be reached I'll mine the pool I deem most stable and profitable.
- Dividends will be paid on a proportional basis.  If you contribute 1 BTC, for example, and the unit costs 75BTC, your dividends would be 1/75th of the gross interval revenue (BTC earned minus pool fees and 4% admin fee).
- The unit will be kept mining until it breaks, we all agree to sell it, or the sun explodes - whichever comes first.
- Anybody is welcome to come over and check out the unit.
- If enough funds are not collected to purchase a unit in its entirety the funds will be returned to the sender.
- Minimum investment is 2 BTC.
- I will provide my personal info as well as my wife's info for people in the group.  My wife and I are both incorporated professionals and have state licenses in medicine and orthodontics.  If we go on the run, we're probably leaving the country  Tongue

Only invest what you're willing to risk.  While it's a pretty good bet that Avalon will deliver in a few months, there is no guarantee that the unit will see a full ROI before it breaks or something happens to Bitcoin.  That being said, think about this - if the difficulty stays low enough for ROI under 6 months, some company will most definitely put out more units - be it Avalon, BFL, ASICMiner, Helve....  If you don't mine with ASIC now you may as well give up and just focus on the commerce portion or trading aspect.

If you're interested PM me with your BTC address and the amount you are sending.  Send payments to 173eWSr3vMzhZkh75Pg5SZ2MxXxJnkPyig

For reference see my Heatware http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=955
I have been trading online since medschool (2000).  You'll notice all the AMD voucher games I recently sold after getting my last hurrah batch of 7950s  Tongue

If you want to invest but want to remain anonymous then just let me know and I'll record you as anonymous - you can reference yourself by the investor #

Send your payment to CoinHoarder, looks like more is in stock.  You might be able to get in on the 3rd unit.
2696  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 25, 2013, 01:05:00 PM
To shred some light, you can ask libertybuck, that was a group order, we didn't in fact allow people to order a lot of units per person. and as for payment site bellying up, that was totally our fault.

I explained it several times before. To save my friends's time, I collected money from them and made that order.  "Group buy" could save time, engergy, even shipping cost.

Sorry, that was Yifu explaining the situation to me.  If you look back at my post history you'll see I actually congratulated you when I saw you had 4 devices. I was just worried that one person was trying to order all of Batch 1, 2 and 3 lol.
2697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who ordered batch #3 Avalon ? on: March 25, 2013, 12:58:54 PM
GREED

Whatever noobie.  I spent over 85% of my BTC on medical supplies I donated.

I see crypto as a possible solution to the crooks in the world banking system.  Anything I can do to avoid using them is fine in my book.
2698  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: THANK YOU AVALON - Batch #3 ordering on: March 25, 2013, 12:55:50 PM
Surprisingly easy to order this time.  The website was snappy too.  And Bitpay was as easy to use as when I bought my 2 BFL SC Singles (last June) for roughly double what I spent just now.  Hmm, where did I put those...  Tongue
2699  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Group ordering. on: March 25, 2013, 12:51:29 PM
For the new users please note that:

1) Avalon has already sold out Batch 3
2) This users is new
3) If you send money now...
2700  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who ordered batch #3 Avalon ? on: March 25, 2013, 12:35:16 PM
I wasn't going to order but Bitsyncom answered a few of my questions last night and I have enough confidence to order now, so I just jumped in.
