Oh noes!  They're going to be printing guns in outer space!!!

Seriously, I wonder what micro gravity will do to the layering.
1722  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Psychiatry kills on: June 15, 2014, 08:42:19 AM
Overmedication because of the "free market" we all love here is a problem. Psychiatry is not the problem.

If the doctors were actually kind hearted people and talked to their patients to help resolve what was going on in their life, psychiatry would not be needed.  It wasn't needed for thousands upon thousands of years.

If you truly want to resolve an emotional issue, take a psychedelic face it yourself like we have been doing for so long.

Back seat driving much?

Having had to place a 16 year old on suicide watch because he tried to hang himself I can tell you that you that once again you're foaming at the mouth.  You cannot talk reason into someone who doesn't want to hear it.  He even kicked his own mother in the face in the hospital.  Sometimes the kindness of words just isn't enough.
1723  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What good things has Obama had since he is elected ? on: June 15, 2014, 08:37:43 AM
1. Obama Care
2. Economy (it is improving despite Republican obstructionism)
3. Libya (ousting of Qadafy)
5. stopping the Keystone pipeline (at least so far)
6. ending don't ask don't tell
7. ending the Bush tax cuts for high earners
8. ending the stupid Bush policy on restricting stem cell research
9. Improved America's standing in the world community

1) That's his worst failing.  Utterly destroying GDP growth with companies uncertain on legislation.  Hillary will ride in a "save us" with a single payer system that will eventually become tier.  His quintessential achievement is his biggest leadership failure (having Pelosi and Reid write the laws is a failure of leadership)
2) Economy is worse.  You need to learn what a structural deficit is.  See #1.  Of course this helped BTC grow Tongue
3) He violated his own policy but yes he succeeded (probably with McCain prompting him).
4) He didn't learn how to count at Harvard.
5) You can't have #2 and #5- one or the other.  You protect water supplies or create a national works project - not both.
6) I agree
7) Failure - he should have fixed the tax code to stop loopholes, but that is hard to do when you Sec of Treasury is a tax cheat who conveniently forgets to send in payroll taxes even though his own accountant sent 2 letters.
Cool I agree
9) You must either live in a Muslim predominated country or are confused.  Most countries see him as a successor to Bush.  Nobel peace prize pfft.

His single biggest achievement, sadly, was his position as Commander in Chief - telling Pakistan to go to hell by taking out Osama.  Something that Clinton didn't want to do and Bush chose not to attempt.  I doubt many who hate America's military influence around the world had a problem with taking out the titular head of Al Queda
1724  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: June 15, 2014, 08:07:32 AM

It's nice that he spoke to the same people driving their hybrid Prius at 85mph in the HOV lanes.  Not once have I ever heard this president actually urge people to consume less.  To think about whether they need something before buying it.  Then again his pitiful economic recovery requires spending every last cent of credit on whatever item you can get...

Teddy was a much better steward of the environment.
1725  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NSFW- Brutal ISIS drive by compliations. They are indiscriminately killing on: June 15, 2014, 07:40:44 AM
This is what a chaotic state looks like.

Yes. A chaotic state created by the fanatical warmongers GW Bush Jr, and Tony Blair. They turned Iraq from a brutal dictatorship into an even worse state of blood-drenched anarchy.
There was meant to be a film happening about Tony Blair the war criminal. Wonder how that is getting on?

And yet if you were one of the oppressed people living under Saddam's thumb and you survived the war life would have become 1000x better.  Wow, an antibiotic for my kid's malaria...yes!

Oppressive peace isn't really much of a life with you're the one being oppressed.  Unfortunately the concept of peaceful protest is not available in that part of the world apparently - not as long as mustard gas is a crowd dispenser.
1726  Other / Off-topic / Re: Leonidas vs Maximus on: June 15, 2014, 07:14:59 AM
Maximus has a better name but Crowe's face is too pretty boy in the movie.  Needs a few slashes at least.

Happy Father's Day to all.   Just finished beating my kids and they cried themselves to sleep.

I beat them in checkers and tickled them until they had tears.

1731  Other / Off-topic / Re: How old are you? on: June 15, 2014, 06:58:46 AM
My mother is 58, she bought Bitcoin, she has got a rig (12x r9 290), but my brother is controlling the rig.

Wow - I hope she's not running that in her house!  A R9 290 puts out a LOT of noise.

Probably they're the Gigabyte ones.  I bought one and running stock speeds I can keep the fan at 60% and it's not too bad - although the heat is insane.
1732  Other / Off-topic / Re: WORLD'S LARGEST GUMMY BEAR!!! MUST SEE!!!!!!! on: June 15, 2014, 06:57:23 AM
That gummy bear is like fuken asking for diabetes.

Maybe share it in a party?
Or a new suicide method?

This just in.  The Hyperglycemia Cult had 28 members killed today as they were found dead in a tent feasting on 5 pound gummy bears...
1733  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's talk about how hot Asian girls are. on: June 15, 2014, 06:51:55 AM
That's so weird.   Asian girls seem to always be attracted to me.  Seriously.    But I find them least attractive.  They always seem to skinny and lack a juicy top & bottom.   Latinas are on top of the list IMO. Smiley

36-24-36... only if she's 5'3"  Grin  Easy there Sir Mix-a-lot

We need more pics please.  Start posting of ladyboy threads will rise to the top again.

1735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your percent chance that Bitcoin will be the "Myspace" of cryptos? on: June 15, 2014, 06:45:18 AM
I don't think it is very likely to be surpassed anytime in the near future. Too much worldwide support for BTC for everyone to jump on another coin. There may be one that comes out at some point that is all around better than BTC, but even then I think it will have a hard time filling the original's shoes

Yes but the infrastructure and development support for BTC is very easy to change to any blockchain-based coin... the mining may not be, but you don't NEED a lot of hash rate being thrown at a network for it to work; just helps keep it more secure (which is valuable but isn't the only thing that makes BTC valuable).

Yeah but the thing is if BTC is used a currency people only really care about it's ease of use and it's name (much less so than it's utility).  The only hindrance I can see is the block time.  Maybe by that time BTC wallets will use a backend coin to relay payments.   Hmm, backend coin.....oh that sounds wrong.  Grin
1736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will the end of Moore's law in 2020 affect Bitcoin? on: June 15, 2014, 06:42:58 AM
I think effectively 14nm will be our stopping point, to be honest. It's not the electron that stops us, it's the inability to cool a die efficiently, thus shortening the life of the chip.

You're forgetting though, Miners won't be affected by this at all, neither will Bitcoin.
You're talking about an engineering issue.
Chips will either get larger, or more numerous.
Water cooling will probably have to replace air and aluminum.
And Bitcoin miners will continue to hash out blocks.
And BFL will still never have shipped a working Monarch.

The best posts are the ones that are so serious and truthful and stick the jab in at the end.  Now I have to clean fruit punch off the monitor... well done sir, well done.

Agreed that by 2020 the 1/2s will have made the BTC minimal.  Farms will still exist but I doubt we'll have a race for expansion like we currently have.
1737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we all write to FBI asking not to sell bitcoins but hodl them? on: June 15, 2014, 06:31:32 AM
If you asked the FBI to HODL the coins they would ignore you.  Ask them to hold the coins and perhaps.....nah they won't.

Are we still using hodl?
1738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you personally seen a bitcoin millionaire? on: June 15, 2014, 06:28:31 AM
those that brag about their riches are usually naive people that are not used to being wealthy. and usually find in 20 years time their riches would have evaporated..

thos smart enough to have always been wealthy and increase their wealth would not brag about it, nor tell anyone how to also bcome wealthy (avoid future competition), plus as lethn said avoid unwanted attention from scammers.

i have seen too many polls asking for how much people have and what client programs they us etc, all part of th schme for people to target the rich. so dont pretend it doesnt happen.

people like warren buffet will tell people not to buy things, so that he can buy cheaply without competition. then when h is ready to sell, he will tell people to buy so that he can sell without causing a price drop.

you will find the rich and wealthy people tell you the opposite to what you want to hear.

Warren Buffet - the original Trollbox.  I don't trust anything coming out of that 2-faced lying weasel's mouth.

I was a millionaire... until I bought this damn pizza.

1740  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who the hell is still mining on GHash.IO? GTFO that pool already!!! on: June 15, 2014, 06:19:47 AM
When you don't have a pool operator communicating on a regular basis with the community like Bitminter's or BTCG's pool ops you can't really understand the intentions of the pool.  Why people would lend them their hashing power just to make a few more satoshis is beyond me.  As I said before it's like tossing away $5 to get a couple of pennies.
